A better visit this evening, than last time. Good food and staff were brilliant, but service was slow.

Excellent range of beers in a wonderful authentic pub atmosphere. The quality of the food was spot on , and the service was quick and well presented. Outside seating was comfortable.

Called in twice, once on the Saturday afternoon, which was busy but had a good atmosphere. Then the following lunchtime for Sunday lunch, which we had really enjoyed on a previous visit but am told that the management had changed. The lunch was okay but not as good as previously. Could have done with more mashed potato ( a view that the table next to use were also talking about). The roast beef was perhaps overcooked but some like it that way. The roast potatoes were slightly underdone being rather pale and slightly tough. Other than that everything else was fine.

The Horse and Jockey recently hosted mine and my partners engagement party and we couldn’t have had a more fabulous time!! Ian and his amazing team were so accommodating and really made our night feel special. Lots of our guests also commented on what a lovely venue it was, so hats off to the H&J for the incredible refurb! Thanks so much again. Em and James.

The market outside was great, the staff inside are friendly but the prices are not so great.

Shared a mash potato with our 11 month old baby, found pieces of hard plastic halfway through in the mash, advised to go to A&E. Luckily they've checked him and he's not ingested any. Scared the life out of us. Be careful eating here! Especially with young children!

Attended a wake here today pub is very quirky and spotlessly clean and staff were amazing 👏

Had a late lunch sat outside as it was a sunny day, shared 6 of the small dishes which were absolutely lovely, really enjoyed thank you! 🤗

Horse & Jockey has really stepped it up with the new management team under Iain. The refurb and the new menu look fantastic. It's back to being a traditional looking pub and it's beautiful. Well done team Ian and on time as well 👍

Been a few times....lovely cosy place with outdoor seating...inner ground floor and upstairs...and up again to the top floor...really hone from home...very comfortable with attentive staff..I recommend you try this place

Excellent experience every visit. Staff led by the, in my opinion, from the top. A credit to the brewery. Cannot wait to see the upgrade. Just hope that the overall ambience is maintained.

Visited for a short this evening after not visiting for some time. It’s such a lovely pub. Great friendly service and well priced. I did t try the food but the menu liked great! Look forward to my next visit and sampling the food.

I was at pub with someone who needed a gluten free diet. Staff were amazing and kind. They had file with allergy info but in the end there was very little she could have that was gluten free and no main courses containing meat that was gluten free. Felt a little bit of tweaking could have rectified that.

An excellent place to relax for a couple of hours. This pub has a genuine old world feel to it.

This used to be a good old fashioned Robinson's pub, the trendy location and customer base have turned it into something that blends in with the posher (and costlier!) establishments in the area, but it is a nice place.

Music too loud difficult for our group of 20 people to chat without shouting, leather seating in need of repair/replacing ripped and lumpy. Staff very nice.

Went for Sunday roast about 7pm. Bar service was good (if you just want a drink) but otherwise don’t bother. Waited over an hour for food to then be given a cold roast dinner, half a Yorkshire pudding because they’d run out; compensated by an extra slice of cold fatty meat. The veg was cold the potatoes were frozen. The steak was cold - as if it had been sat waiting to be served. We did mention to one of the staff who mumbled something. And then we left. Shame cos it was busy and we had hoped for better.

Sunday Roast was huge and very good value. They were super busy and firstly told us that they weren’t taking any orders for an hour, but then we saw people ordering before then which was a bit annoying. But we ordered after them and food came relatively quickly.

Went for Sunday lunch with my friend. We both had a roast beef dinner, which included a huge Yorkshire Pudding! We ordered pigs in blanket sides and shared a portion of cauliflower cheese. Forgot to take pics but was lovely. Portion sizes were good. The only negative was the temperature, other than the roast potatoes, everything was lukewarm. My personal preference is hot food served on warmed plates. Plates were cold which causes the temperature to decrease on everything else. Despite that, we enjoyed our meals and intend to return.

A delightful meal, a refreshingly short menu with an excellent ballance of flavours. We used to go in the H&J years ago when it was a pub. To go in again was to recapture our youth. The staff were charming and the background music was all hits from the eighties. Brilliant.

Been here on multiple occasions whilst visiting my brother in chorlton green. Food is great. I usually have the shrimp cocktail and salad. I previously had a veggie curry that came with cauliflower rice and this was a refreshing change as I don’t eat things with high carbs. Service friendly and dogs are welcomed.

Had a really nice lunch here this week, my first visit to the pub. The food was great and portion sizes very generous. Staff were all really friendly.

Nice place with outdoor seating and some parking. Mind you head inside as very low beams but really nice!! Staff are friendly and serve quickly. No Guinness but they have a substitute

A very old and established pub . Good atmosphere, especially when the sun's out! Good food, but the service was pretty slow on our last visit.

Beautiful pub located in a quiet area. Drinks are well priced, and food looks nice. Unfortunately, I wasn't eating but what I saw looked nice. The only downside was the parking, it was the 1st time there and wasn't sure where to park.

Lovely place to visit, staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, always happy to help you with whatever you need. There is a lovely outdoor seating area both open and shaded which is perfect for this sunny weather! Very dog friendly also, with water available for your furry best friend. The menu is delicious and I cannot recommend their ketchup enough! Thank you to the team at the Horse &Jockey, we will be seeing you again!

I enjoyed the food and the service was very good. The beer is a pound cheaper than everywhere else and is better. I love going here with friends and family.

I went here for my dads birthday and we had a brilliant time. The service was very good and all the food was amazing. Would definitely go again.

Cheap Sunday roast and it massive

We waited 1.5 hours for a sharing platter in a half empty pub. Half of the items had been replaced with alternatives without any warning! We got a refund and left, won’t be going back!

Good food, excellent service, and a nice place where a group of friends can meet up. The gentlemen in our group enjoyed the choice of beers. I wear a hearing aid that tends to pick up the needless music slightly louder than the conversation of the people I am meeting. The staff kindly turned the music speaker off in the room we were in at lunchtime this week. Excellent. The large choice of vegetarian meals at the top of the menu was encouraging. Many pubs have one vegetarian meal at the bottom of the menu.

Really great pub with a great vibe, kind barstaff, and dog friendly. The food’s great, I only wish we had planned to sit down to eat properly. We only had a couple of bites to eat and what we did have were pretty good. The Lancashire cheese sauce with the pulled beef brisket toastie wasn’t cheesy enough in my opinion. There could have been a bit more bread with the bread and olives, considering how much oil was served. I would visit again and again, if nothing else than to try the rest of their amazing menu. They also had some live music on in the afternoon which was a great treat!

It's expensive, but oh, so nice and very delicious, more like a restaurant than your usual pub grub. Highly recommended.

Dropped in for a drink, whilst shopping in Chorlton. Previously eaten here and the food was delicious.

My sister and I went for lunch never having been in the Horse and Jockey for years. The lady behind the bar was so friendly and helpful. We just wanted a sandwich and she recommended the beef brisket toastie. It was delicious and arrived quickly. The deserts were fabulous too as was the coffee. Comfy seats and a relaxed atmosphere. No negatives. Would definitely recommend and we will be back.

Lots of dogs in here like at least 12 and the food was decent but I go for the dogs I think I saw 11 of them and the wine was ok I guess but they ran out of wine glasses by the time the 10 dogs I saw started howling in unison and it was a warm bar with lovely staff and the 9 dogs in there were great to look at but the highlight of the evening was the singing contest where two sets of dog barber shop quartets had a sing off and many people clapped, many.

I called to book a table on Saturday night and Nathan answered. He was very professional and sorted a table for us to include a dog. Great atmosphere, food and service. Everywhere very clean and nothing was too much trouble. Couldn’t rate more highly. Will be going back soon.

Good position on Chorlton Green. Beloved of dogs and their minders. And lots of very young children. You can get served, if you are patient. But I won’t stop going, Food and drink fine, but a bit restricted in choice. New visit 2022. Great improvement! Good friendly attentive service. Improved menu. Good selection of wines now. Previous visit it was very busy, this visit nice and quiet. Very relaxing. Another visit 2023. This time a disaster! Gresham Chicken ordered, had this once before and it was really good. Warned it would take half an hour (as it’s cooked from fresh!) After about the half hour was well up an apology that it was taking so long. Would you guys like another glass of wine? On the house due to the delay? No. OK yes anyway. Waited, and waited. One hour twenty minutes after ordering …Finally arrived. Hispi cabbage charred but raw. I tried to eat the chicken, firstly cutting into the outside layer of bacon wrapped around the chicken. Couldn’t cut it. Asked for steak knife. Couldn’t cut it. Tore a piece off, couldn’t chew it. Reminded me of the Charlie Chaplin film where he tries to eat his own boot. Took the plate to the bar and asked what to do next. Would you like something else I was asked. An angle grinder came to mind. No, said I, as I’d had a nice starter (only spoiled by far too much grain mustard so the everything tasted of that) I’ll leave it. Apologies (Sorry guys! By the way my female lunch partner is pretty ancient and definitely not a …guy) would you like a desert/coffee on the house? Ok then, thanks. Nice of you. Puddings came, nice… BTW my friends risotto was really good. We decided not to charge waiting time, and tried to leave. The bill came. Victor Meldrew reared his ugly head for there charged on the bill was my inedible chicken dish and the OTH sweets and coffee. ‘I’ll see if I can remove it No worries’. I said I am not worried, you might as well remove this items as I won’t be paying. Yes, I was trying to not get too angry. ‘No Worries’ again. Finally having heard Hi Guys and No Worries for the umpteenth time I asked for a gun. To shoot myself, and not in the foot. So the charge for the inedible chicken and the OTH sweets were removed not the coffees but by then, nearly having been there 3 hours I paid and left. See you again they said, not on your Nelly. Something has changed. The position on Chorlton Green is lovely, but I get the impression that there are new proprietors (a brewery maybe) and what plot there was has been lost. The same at the Metropolitan in West Didsbury. Almost total lack of intelligent management. New staff trying hard who don’t know what they are doing . And if I hear Hi Guys and No Worries repeated ad nauseam again I shall scream from the rooftops!

Nice pub, but mainly set up for eating. Not much space set up for just having a drink. Would recommend The Beech Inn across the road instead if you just want a few drinks.

Went for my birthday . Food and service was great . Everyone enjoyed themselves , plus the quiz was on .. brilliant evening
