A unique place to sit because of the location alongside the steam trains, but if you like good coffee you will be very disappointed.

Lovely food and great customer service from the young lad bringing the food on to the carriages yesterday very good, friendly and made sure that everyone was happy with their food orders. I'm 82 years old and there's only been a few times I can remember customer service being as good as it was at your business, I wanted to give him a tip but he refused saying he was just doing his job We will be back, all 20 of us hopefully.

I visited the East Anglian Railway Museum and whilst there I was a bit peckish so decided to check out the cafe on platform 2. They sell a variety of hot and cold snacks and there are sweet and savoury things to choose from. The staff were really welcoming and chatty and I enjoyed talking to them. There is indoor seating in an old railway carriage and it is well laid out and there are also seats outside to use when the weather is nice. Certainly worth paying a visit to if you are hungry.

We visited the Platform Two Café as part of a special Thomas the Tank Engine day at the East Anglian Railway Museum. It offers a good range of food and drink – you order your food inside and then sit either outside or in one of two old rail dining cars. The café is quite small and so the queue can build up quite quickly at busy times – plan your timing carefully...

Great cafe to visit with lots of safe free parking serving fantastic takeaway food including a nice variety of home made scones to choose from and chocolate brownies that are perfect. Plenty of seating away from the cafe to sit and eat.

What a great little treat, we started on a platform table and ended up in a dining car when it started to rain. Good choice of food , very helpful and friendly staff and plenty of trains to see both steam and mainline. A really good visit the facilities are clean and welcoming and both children and adults loved it. The staff really cared that you had a good time and it was good value too!

We went for a date lunch and sat in the sunshine next to a vintage railway carriage (you can sit inside it too!!). We had a gorgeous, freshly prepared lunch, taking advantage of the weekly specials, followed by delicious coffee & home made cakes. It was the perfect treat so we’ll be going again next week ☺️

Family visit. Children described choc brownies as best they’ve ever had. Choc orange segments on top and inside. Lemon drizzle cake light and lemony. Coffee was good quality. Looking forward to visiting when carriage back open. Sunday roasts are coming soon. Definitely going back. Little gem of a cafe. Owners and waitress lovely and friendly. Happy days.

Nice arrangement to get your coffee from the kiosk and then take it to sit in a very comfortable railway coach and watch the trains go by. Good cake, pleasent service.

When I visited here with my family there was only one person serving and cooking so there was quite a long wait for our food and hot drinks to arrive, however the food was tasty and the service was very good. The guy working the cafe even brought all customers food over to the train carriage in the poring rain.

Booked for Sunday lunch after seeing their advert on a Facebook site . Seemed like a different sort of place to go as the husband loves railways and we are a fan of the Museum. Prices are reasonable and got a prompt reply from my query about if you need to pay to go in the Museum to eat here . Answer; on normal Sundays you don't, but on special event weekends you obviously do and I doubt that they will be doing full Sunday lunches on that day. We had a lovely waitress who ferried the food and dishes from the very small kitchen cabin alongside the track on Platform 2 hence the name of the cafe to the railway carriage. What do they do in rainy weather?. We sat at a table reserved for the 2 of us on a 4 seater table. People were slimmer in the 50's it would appear, as it would be cosy to squash 4 diners into this space. The group of 4 also dinning were seated at 2 tables either side of the aisle, more diners joined and were sat at their own table for 4. The setting was simple but had a festive look about it and I joined in the theme with my choice of meal. Friendly lady brought a very acceptable glass of rose for me and Merlot for him plus water for the table. We both had an excellent Tomato and Basil soup for starters, chosen from a choice of 3 . I then had the Turkey with traditional trimmings. My husband the lamb, a Vegetarian option was also available. I enjoyed my lunch , probably not quite as much as the group of 4 next to us but they were also very picky about the vegetables. We ate them all. Along with the meat and pigs in blanket, Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and parsnips served on the plate were bowls of carrots and peas, red cabbage and cauliflower cheese. Cranberry and Mint sauce were there with the meal without asking . Both of us decided we were too full for pudding although the Apple Crumble was tempting but looked too big for Mr B to manage alone and I was not offering any help. Meal cost £16 each plus drinks in a warm vintage railway cabbage served by a friendly team with no washing up . What's not to like. A good meal before going to buy the Christmas tree. A lovely day and I even began to feel a little bit in the Spirit of Christmas.

Food wasn't especially tasty and the breakfast was too greasy, but the place was busy with what seemed locals. Staff very friendly, helpful and pleasant, it just isn't for us.

I visited this gem of a cafe on the quiet end of Clacton seafront for breakfast this morning and I will definitely be back. Located right overlooking a beautiful beach this family run cafe deserves every one of the five stars I have given it. Spotlessly clean, with welcoming courteous staff and great all day menu of breakfasts and traditional family cafe meals. What more can you ask for? Good value and quality products and yes you’ll get them too! Popular with locals and visitors to the area alike a lot to enjoy about the Greensward Cafe!! Oh and it has a great crazy golf to enjoy as well, perhaps when the weather is a bit better! An absolute credit to the proprietor and team - visit and enjoy a real seaside treat !!!
