Dog friendly place, Very tasty dough, proper pizza, one star less because only 1 pizza out of 3 was hot

Went to Pizza Pi in Topcoats tonight with friends. Hadn't been before but we're impressed with the quality of them.

This place has totally gone down hill since moving premises. Booked a table for 4 on a Monday for the following Saturday as a birthday get together with a few friends, I added in the notes that a member of our party would be requiring a gluten free pizza base, expecting that they would make sure one was available for our party. I recieved a text 20 minutes before we were due to arrive that they had ran out of gluten free bases leaving one of my party to eat only sides. We ordered drinks and the girl who served us at our table seemed completely clueless. We ordered 3 cocktails and a diet pepsi and we were served a regular pepsi. Food was ordered and it was nice although the pepperoni on two of the pizzas was slightly spicy compared to another my friend ordered with bacon on it. I don't do well with spice so I would have liked to have been warned that this was the case. At no point during the meal were we asked if our food was okay or if we'd like another drink. If they had come round we could have told them that the garlic pizza bread was completely undercooked and soggy on the bottom. In all fairness we asked to remove this from the bill and they did with no issue. We finally got another round of drinks at the end of the meal, we drank them quite quickly and split up our bill to pay. If we hadnt asked for an itemised bill though we would have ended up paying £32 for 2 old fashioneds. The staff seemed very unbothered about what had happened and just blamed each other whilst we were stood there, it did get sorted but I don't understand how it could have happened in the first place. I understand this place is a cocktail bar primarily but having music blasting inside when there are only 3 other groups in the place who are eating isnt the most enjoyable way to eat a meal either. I have been hyping this place up to my friends ever since I went to the original restaurant in town but since you've moved you seem to have lost your spark and I have been severely let down/ embarrassed that you haven't lived up to my expectations that you had previously set up for me. I'm very sorry to say that I won't be returning again. I probably sound like a complete karen but I genuinely loved Pizza Pi when it was in town but now I cannot recommend it.

Pizza pi at the Dronfield Arms We’ve been to Pizza Pi at the Dronfield arms a few times now but won’t be ordering again. The first time, I have no idea what was in the pizza base but myself and my boyfriend were up all night drinking gallons of water (MSG??). We also waited nearly 2 hours for the pizza. The second time the pizza was absolutely black burnt on the bottom, roughly shaped, smaller than previous pizzas. Many times we’ve witnessed the cooking staff handle cash/card machines/get drinks/stroke dogs and then go back to making pizza without washing their hands. It’s completely put me off.

Fantastic food, friendly staff and lovely atmosphere

Only just discovered this place. Will be regulars from now on. Great place and superb pizza, good choice of beers and wine. Nice staff.

Fantastic pizza!!! Really top quality, can't recommend enough. Lovely, friendly staff too.

I have a disable daughter with hidden disabilities and they were very kind and helpful. You just can't buy that sort of response from staff. We had a lovely drink and cake and my daughters confidence was boosted free of charge. Thanks to all three staff who were today.

Update since september 2022: (Important Note: this review a target location no longer exists in chesterfield) Popular wood fire pizza restaurant within the heart of 'vicar lane.' Hospitality: 5/5 service is impressive. Upon glance. The shop never slows down once it gets busy; and they handle all of that with ease while still being able to smile. 😁 The chefs were very quick with their times to order ⏲ Food: 5/5 The pizzas were excellent. Garlic Margaretta was full of flavour. And the Margaretta Soulmate was an unusual choice for me; but I was surprised by how nice it was. A warm signature sauced base, with semi cold mozzarella lumps on top actually works well together. (Note:) if you don't like these, then their other options seem quite tempting. Building: 4/5 The outer exterior was well chosen due to its location on the markets. The inner interior has a interesting design that resembles a werehouse look but still quite stylish, a modern. Revisiting roughly a year on. I didn't realise the upstairs bathrooms were staying as they are; (though I don't mind); as this place makes pizza on wood fire ovens, I find it ironically funny a restroom walled in more wood. 🪵 -1🌟 Looking above the hand dryer. I'm concerned that the stuff used for the fuse wires looked wet; asuming this is due to the warm hand dryer underneight. (Somone sed they'll take a look) Side note: All pizzas made are made on show with a wide open view. Clever idea 💡

Excellent staff and food and drink

So disappointed we won't be returning. The owner is quite rude and lacks in customer service skills, something that's been confirmed by friends who have also visited. If you'd like to experience a little man with a huge chip on his shoulder, this is definitely the place to go. With respect we all can't be wrong!

You simply cannot beat this place for fresh, hot, tasty pizza! Turned up without reservation for a group of 6 and was handled brilliantly. Sat at a table quickly and served with top class service. The pizzas came out piping hot and tasted amazing. Even the GF was great!

We visited on a wet afternoon, and were the only customers which was very surprising as it was a lovely place. We took advantage of the pizza pi deal, where you got a pizza for £9.90 and it was well worth it. Freshly made, stone baked and amazing taste, with a wide variety of toppings available. Highly recommend!

The tomato mozzarella garlic bread was delicious, fries were perfect, the garlic cheese mushrooms were flipping brilliant! Staff were friendly and very attentive! And the prices are great! Thanks for a cracking lunch!

Pizza Pi is a must for vegans living in or visiting Chesterfield. There is a vegan menu and the staff are so accommodating. This independent restaurant is such a hidden gem. Great atmosphere, lovely staff and the best pizza you have ever eaten! 🍕💚

Had a wonderful evening at this restaurant - we shared a 20” pizza with three different toppings which were all delicious, and had to follow with ice cream and a hot chocolate each! Every member of staff was friendly and chatty, and Sophie, Gemma and Emma in particular made our evening, they were absolutely lovely and so welcoming! We’ll definitely be back!

I'm sorry I only gave 3 stars for service, but I came in on a Thursday evening, was not busy at all, but trying to get drink re-oeders was painful. I put it down to inattentive staff! Apart from that, great food, great atmosphere 👍😁

Ordered food for delivery. When the food arrived it was almost cold. I contacted Pizza Pi on numerous occasions, but apart from asking which platform I ordered through (City Grab) they have completely ignored me. I will not be using them again. I was charged £5.20 for delivery, plus £1 service charge!! It is a shame as when I have been to the restaurant the food has always been good. Obviously they don’t value their customers

This was a really special place. The owners have really made it a feel good atmosphere. The euro vision cocktails were amazing and the food was perfect. Couldn't fault a thing

the food was delightful however the experience left much to be desired. we were asked to move as soon as we were seated and told we would ideally be out within the hour, despite the booking being for an hour and a half. we were rushed through ordering and given takeaway boxes after about 30 minutes even though we were only half way through. i really wouldn’t recommend dining in here - take away would probably be your best option to avoid the terrible service

Good pizza surroundings worked for the style of restaurant.

The food was really good although a little expensive for what you get. The atmosphere was good and the staff were really friendly.

Very nice food and lot's of it.

We visited for Mother's Day and there were 10 of us in total. We opted for the buffet option which available if you're a group booking of 8 or more. Wow! There was sooo much food and it was all delicious! Pizzas were all tweeked to what our preferences were and everyone, including the kids absolutely loved the food. We had lots left over and this was all boxed up for us to take away. The service was excellent and the 3 mums on the table were all gifted a small box of chocolates for Mother's Day - nice touch! Would highly recommend and will definitely be back!

Popped in for a quick bite and had the most excellent pepperoni pizza with added jalapeños. Without doubt, one of the freshest, tastiest pizzas I have ever had. Great and swift service too.

Fresh pizza. Dough was great and just the right size. Nice decor and relaxed vibe. Good local beer too.

Just ordered 2 pizzas and some fries. So glad I had a discount, but then still not worth it. Can’t see what the hype about this place is. Fries were cold and soggy and both pizzas luke warm and burnt! My pizza was supposed to have Parma ham on it. Think someone else has got that! All I got was a cheese and tomato pizza with mushrooms and a few black olives and well 2 measly small pieces of Parma ham. What a rip off. Will definitely not be ordering from here again. The only good thing about this order was we got a friendly delivery driver! Just had a reply from Pizza Pi - Thank you for you review. The hype of this place actually helps keep 15 people in jobs. I'm glad you support that 😁 Pity you can’t take criticism! You too would have been disappointed if you’d received food like this from another restaurant! Perhaps you might try teaching them how to cook then! £4.50 for a small box of soggy undercooked fries! Burnt pizza and missing one of the main items supposed to be on there, where is my Parma Ham??? Still in Italy Lol Don’t worry I definitely won’t be supporting your lack of cooking skills!

Came here on New Year's Eve The pizza is amazing! Service was efficient and very reasonably priced too. Would recommend to anyone, quite possibly the best pizza in Chesterfield 😊

The pizzas are really tasty and the range of sides and garlic bread is great. We noticed that the pizzas seem to go cold really quickly the last couple of times we have been.

Enjoyed this for a change, had a works Christmas buffy for £15. Would recommend a similar sort of deal for a change from the regular take away.

Popped in for lunch. Excellent quality pizza at a reasonable price and good service. Had a pizza each but would probably share next time as it was substantial enough.

Easily the best pizza I have ever had! The menu is very extensive as well as accommodating to dietary requirements. You can also build your own which is a bonus! The place is welcoming and cosy with the loveliest staff. There is also a cocktail menu! Pizza & cocktail 10/10

If you want real authentic pizza with a choice of original ideas and great tasting food this is the place. Absolutely love this place, great staff too nothing is ever too much

Called for pizza recently...it was tasty but a little salty for my preference....all the staff were lovely and the building is really clean and pleasant xx

Real nice Pizza and the music was great! Lots of Indie and a bit of Brit Pop Also noticed there was quite a few vegan options.

Quite disappointed. Every time I try to order something happens (last time the pizzas were burnt, inedible). Today they didn't had drivers. What got me was the fact that I received a call 20min after I was supposed to receive the pizzas to tell me if I want to pick up. After I waited a bit more they confirmed no drivers are available. I understand it's not their direct fault this time, but as a business, if you offer a service it's down to you to make sure it gets delivered, by whichever means. I'm disappointed because I had a nice pizza many months ago and I've tried to give them a second chance, but I'm sorry, I can't rely on them, therefore I won't order anymore.

Last minute Tuesday evening booking for my little ones birthday 😊 staff were very friendly and accommodating. There was a little misunderstanding with the drinks 😅 two of us were given wrong sized lemonades and Strawberry lemonade instead of regular but not to worry, it all got drank. Great vegan options, we had the vegan rosso pizza and the vegan pesto that were both delicious ! Kids enjoyed theirs too. Only thing I would mention is that we booked in at the discounted price time slot but were charged full price at the end so would have been good to clarify on the menu that it's limited to the time you pay and not when you arrive. It worked out quite pricey for two adults and 3 kids (almost £100 with only one cocktail) Other than that we had a lovely time and very much happier to support local and independent business 😊

Our first visit. Friendly and efficient staff. It is wood fired pizzas which are the best but apart from starters it is just pizzas. Licensed for wine and beers. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is we found with both doors wide open it created a draught. Otherwise certainly good value and I would recommend it.

A worker called Millie jones was very mean didn’t realy care about the customers

Good service. We both enjoyed our food and drink. Offers on pizza etc up to 6pm. Seating inside and out. Only downside a little cool with both doors wide open.

I enjoyed my pizza and fries. It was busy but I think the staff were doing their best. Lost one star because our group had an issue with a dirty table and I thought the DJ was a really bad idea. It's a restaurant not a nightclub. The music was too loud and generic nightclub fayre. Overall decent place but if the DJ thing is weekly then avoid Saturdays.

Arrived a few minutes early and despite having booked well in advance the table was not ready for the 8 of us. We were asked to wait whilst they got this sorted and within a few minutes 3 tables had been pushed together with barely any room between us and the next group. We had to ask for the table to be cleaned as it was covered in crumbs/sauce etc. you would honestly think we had asked for the moon on a stick considering the eye roll we got from the waiting staff who then proceeded to spray each table and every one of us with what I can only assume was some kind of antibacterial cleaner. Not to be deterred we persevered as the menu did look tempting. My partner and I shared the pepperoni and mozzarella fries which, within minutes had congealed into one lump. My pizza although very tasty, was pretty much 40% very dry crust as the toppings were in the middle. Evidence of this was left on my plate as it just wasn’t pleasant to eat. All in all average pizza with staff that would benefit greatly from some customer service training as I have never seen such a team of uninterested staff anywhere in the world. One member of our group settled the bill and did leave a substantial tip, however given the option I would not have done the same.

This could have been excellent, pizzas we're bland. Toppings were in the middle so large parts were just a dry crust. Won't be going back.

My cousin is gluten free and I took him to pizza pi and he said it was the best gluten free pizza he had tasted. He lives near London but said it was worth the drive just for the pizza !

It was okay. No issues with the service and the place was nice enough. There's a lot of crust on the well done pizzas, so the toppings are in the middle two thirds. We ate it all, but wouldn't rush back.

Walked past it numerous times but this time decided to give it a go. Nice food, nice atmosphere and polite staff. Will return !

Located in the heart of the town center. Friendly and helpful staff. Both indoor and outdoor seating. Good variety in menu with plenty of vegetarian options. One of the best pizzas in Chesterfield ! Great fries ! Good drinks ! Definitely gonna be my regular to go place now !!

Really good, more authentic pizza. Based on Napoli pizza I think but with more toppings. However given that sometimes too many toppings are added which can ruin the pizza. Need to go lighter at times so the pizza isn't a mess to eat but generally speaking the pizzas I've had are great from here. Even the marinara as long as they don't cover it in too much oregano.

Friendly attentive staff, great service, great vibe and fabulous food. Definitely will go back and try something else on the extensive pizza menu. Dined in and felt like I was in holiday somewhere. The weather helped with that though too! Very nice - I recommend you try it and taste a more authentic pizza.

Went here with our 2 grandsons (11 and 4), they only do one size pizza so we shared ours with the youngest. Shame they don't put place mats on the table as they became quite wet once the drinks were served. Pizzas were ok not sure if u would rush back, found the service a bit forced.

Had pizza from here on delivery in the past and loved it. I recently came into the restaurant itself for the first time recently and it was even better. Highly recommended.

This place and nettas absolutely smoke the rest of the pizza places /kebab shops off the map.. Its brilliant to have real clean, good quality pizza places popping up which are run by genuine folks instead of the slop we have been getting served up with the other shops for far to long. 👍

Wow what an amazing restaurant they catered to 40+ people with simplicity and ease. There was so much food! And the pizza is so fresh and tasty I could’ve happily eaten all of it just to myself! Staff were super accommodating and will definitely be going back! Perfect for date nights events or even just treating yourself! 100% recommended

Was at this pizzaria on Sunday, the food and service was fantastic. Great selection of pizzas,breads and loved that they had sweet potato fries. The staff were friendly and helpful.it also had a great atmosphere about it. Would definitely be back next time am in the area .

Just want to say the BIGGEST thank you to Pizza Pi ever!! For hosting nearly 40 of us tonight for worlds best buffet 😍(guys you need to up your prices seriously it was insane!) The food was exceptional, the venue is gorgeous and the staff were absolutely amazing - the service AND the chefs, just brilliant 🥰 👏 and the Unicorn Blood cocktail is to die for 😍🦄
