Albert's Jüngerer Bruder in Chesterfield

The pizza oven, decor and back ground music along either side choice or beer and cocktails meant this was our favourite place. Shame it seems to be closing.

Great food, nice staff, decent music and ambience. Still plenty of things on the menu I want to try. Really nice food. Vegan friendly for some mates also.

I had my 40th birthday party at Albert’s on Friday night and it was amazing! 🥰 Sean went out of his way to make the night perfect right from the word go. He was attentive in answering all of my questions, really flexible when it came to my requests, and very pleasant to deal with. The food was absolutely unreal, all the guests commented on how excellent it was. Sean even came up with some personalised cocktails for me and my guests, which made the whole thing extra special. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to book that special celebration

We came across this venue by chance - looking for somewhere nice for dinner. What a treat - from the decor to the background music, great staff and delicious food this place got all the stars. Totally recommended it. Thank you x

Terrible food!! Good drink selection and good vibes but dont go for a meal... meat on pizza overdone and dry so were the ribs!!

Lovely find in Chesterfield next to the Church. Staff were welcoming and professional. The food was wonderful and the portions were ideal. Would definitely recommend.

We visited chesterfield for the 1st time and arrived later than planned. Another pub nearby was recommended to us by our hotel which when we went into it we walked straight out as not for us. Then we found this amazing place. The chicken burger was the best I've ever had. Beautifully cooked with a little spice. Served with nachos on top. Great Idea as they added texture. The wedges served with it were fabulous. All cooked in the wood fire oven. Drinks also great. Fantastic service by a lovely young lady and gentleman chef. Wish we lived here just to go back.

Visited this lovely warm bar a couple of times over a weekend, once for food and drinks on the second visit. Pleasant staff, good food and drinks. Little suggestion would be to have a wet wipe when serving sticky pork.

Hit and miss with food! Some days the food is fantastic, others it's not that great😥! Drink prices are comparable with trendy pubs in town. They do have a good selection of beers & cocktails.

Very disappointing visit. My experience seems to be at odds with most other reviews which I find a little odd. Was told to order at the bar from what was a limited menu. Having been told the wait would be 30 minutes we had to wait 45 mins for food to arrive. The steak and blue cheese sandwich was not as described, the cheese was not blue! We asked the waitress to check with the chef and he insisted it was blue cheese. I think it was Brie. The potato wedges were warm rather than hot and breaking apart, as if they’d come from the freezer and not cooked properly. We asked for the chicken burger without the bun, an option on the menu which stated a side salad would be provided. That didn’t arrive. The coleslaw was red cabbage in a lot of mayo and rather bitter. As stated in a previous review the cooking area is right next to the bar and passing customers. This, and the whole dining experience, means I wouldn’t recommend this establishment.

Food was nice when it eventually arrived. Very slow service. First time visiting. Won't be returning.

I would recommend trying this pub ambience is really nice , fantastic service , excellent selection of drinks, beers , cocktails are always nice I would recommend, The Jim cocktail this was refreshing & flavours were amazing.

Brilliant atmosphere and tasty food, we like going to the pub quiz on Wednesdays too over 2-4-1 wood fire pizzas!

Called into this bar after a late night walk round Chesterfield to see the Christmas lights. Lovely place, great staff, wonderful food and drinks. Its a bit of a hidden gem, and the stone fire cooked pizzas are delicious!

Drink selection is ace! Service is fantastic. Was sat at a table and offered free nuts. Will come back!

Found this place by accident on Saturday evening. Absolute gem! Great food, staff atmosphere and play list. Will definitely be back 😁

Food looks really tasty, but didn‘t try. Really good beer for okay prices. My wife likes the „feeling peachy“ very much! Ambience is really nice, we liked it very much and will come back

This venue saved the night for us (after mean, overpriced cocktails at Dirty Habit, and indifferent food with horrible shrill music at Einstein's). Great cocktails, fabulous service, a good sound system and nice and warm. We'll be back. 😀

Nice pub overlooking the church of St Mary with its crooked spire, Can't say they are dog friendly as when asked they allow 1 small dog in per group. We did not ask for clarification on what constitutes a small dog as we were sitting outside. The food was excellent and very good value for money, the staff were all very courteous and helpful. The service was excellent. We dont usually patronise any establishment that is not dog friendly but got the impression if you go with a friendly well behaved dog you would be welcome.

Popped in for drinks today to get of the heat! Great service as always, friendly & attentive staff. Great selection of drinks, but please get some 0% gin back in!!!

Cocktails nice as always. Particularly like the chocolate velvet. Dunkel beer also good. Staff are friendly and helped with recommendations. Keen to try the food next time it smells great. Piano player on Sunday 6-8pm gives a nice vibe and makes it feel more sophisticated than any bar nearby.

Crimes against pizza and cross contamination risk I dined here on the last quiz night, 16/08, service was good, beer and decor was also good pizzas need work, VERY cheap ingredients. if your running an open kitchen, in sight of customers, at least make some effort to hide the massive blue plastic bag of value cheese I also watched the chef, without gloves on, handling raw meat, and then dipping his hand into the bain-marie of vegetables building a skewer of some kind. And then proceeded to watch him not wash his hands When we asked for a side of Mayo the chef thrust a 10kg tub of it at our server (who was nice, short black hair) for her to dispense. The man has absolutely no pride in his job.

Visited Albert's for lunch for my wife's birthday. They have a great choice of German and Belgian beers (with matching glasses - always a bonus!) and the cocktails are lovely. We both had the halloumi skewers, which were cooked to perfection and full of flavour. Service was attentive and friendly - we'll be back soon!

Spotted Albert's online and called in as we were passing. Really friendly welcome from the staff and excellent German beer. The kitchen wasn't open so we called into their sister pub. Lovely place.

Good range of international beers served at the table. Excellent pizza and other food also looked good. Quirky decor, good service create a good atmosphere for a good night out.

Well, this place is bigger than I thought. I was expecting a little micropub, but it stretches back further than I thought. Didn't have food so can't tell you about that. Drinks weren't cheap, but to be honest, I'd rather pay a little more and get a nice atmosphere. Bar staff were great. They were happy to have a laugh with you, and the table service was efficient. I'd definitely go back.

We like the general atmosphere and look of this place so decided to have a bit to eat there this time. The pizzas were very nice to fair. However, the potato wedges were bland anaemic with barely any seasoning and I genuinely think the coleslaw is the worst I've ever tasted. And I'm including the coleslaw most places throw in for free! Still a nice bar for a drink but will pass on the food next time.

Nice little pub/restaurant. Food would have been better if cooked correctly. All food cooked in a pizza oven,wedges not cooked enough and no colour on them and my burger was medium rare erring on the rare side, luckily I like it like that but most people would have sent it back I'm sure. It was near to last Food orders so I think chef rushed it. Told staff and they responded OK and gave me a free pint. I will go back though its got a nice vibe .

Great service, came to table to ask if we wanted more drinks. Nice selection of cocktails. Good quality coffee. Went in afternoon, came back in the evening and brought friends.

Very disappointed with the wedges, the ones we were served were almost raw and therefore sadly we left most of them. Was expecting much better for the price.

Nice place. Only complaint from our group of senior citizens was that it was too dark to read the menu or see what we were eating. Very nice staff and good food. May we suggest you stock a couple of bottles of ale?

Shocking service. 40mins waiting for a drink , to be told that we only have 5 shakers. Chandlers has 3 staff on and far more busy and the drinks are instant. Maybe table service just isn't the thing for here

Terrible service, messed up our booking, long wait times and slow service. We came for food but even after being left for 40 minutes they weren't ready to take food orders. Unhygienic, cramped and smelly.

Went here for the first time last night. We really enjoyed it. Great atmosphere, fab music, very cosy, love the piano, free nibbles, lovely cocktails, table service amazing, very good service and friendly staff, best bar in Chesterfield at the moment.

We had The Bert Burgers, but the chicken & wedges was very bland, no seasoning. Staff & Service was excellent. Toilets were clean but an unusual lay out.

Not my sort of place a bit too trendy for me and the cider they had on draught I'm not a fan of. Get Strongbow, Simmons or Inches in the bar. You know it makes sense . It was absolutely fine though. I wouldn't go in if I was out on my own but if out with mates I'd have no problem going back.

Great little bar that's open late near the crooked spire church. Loved the atmosphere. Very chic and good selection of beers. Will visit again when in Chesterfield.

Great cocktails and lovely staff

Very disappointed with last night's meal13th August Salmon was half the portion size of last time just got limp lettuce with it no tomatoes ,cucumber, peppers ,or onion ,did get a few potatoes!! Service not good all young people had to ask to get served ,too busy talking to each other !!! Came in July on a Wednesday evening the food was great had the same salmon came with everything much larger portion,so don't know what happened last night very disappointed and service rubbish .

We just called in for a drink, so didn't eat there. Great atmosphere, we really enjoyed it! Loved the table drinks service!

VERY expensive, and slow service even when it was dead, but the cocktails are pretty good. Shame the staff were mainly sat at the bar instead of making service quicker when only 3 punters were in the bar. Ok for a quick cocktail I'd say. Not one to stay in long really.

Lovely atmosphere, food and drinks were great, Isaac was our waiter and he was really friendly and helpful :) will be coming again!

Went here for a few drinks in the evening and it had a great atmosphere and selection of cocktails and beers. Served by Isaac who was friendly and helpful.

Great place to visit while visiting Chesterfield. We were offered a spot near the bar / food prep area...it was great to see all the food cooked in their wood fired oven. Excellent range of European beers and wines. Great location next to the crooked spire.

I’ve been twice now, the place is very nice, but wow, the service is sooooooooooooooo slow both times, even when it’s not busy despite there being 7-8 bar staff. There’s even one or two staff that drink and don’t seem to care about customers waiting. Drinks are nice but I wouldn’t waste your time, by the time you have 1 drink here, you could’ve had 2 or 3 somewhere else.

First visit but definitely not our last. We loved it

The food was so underwhelming and not tasty... I had a tandoori chicken which looked like a bog standard microwave meal.. My nieces boyfriend had sausage and mash with no gravy but some apple sauce hidden beneath the mash, you did feel u wanted to give it the kiss of life with it looking so grey and my niece had a very unexciting chicken salad and it was expensive as my niece had a added side dish of chips for a fiver, so nearly 7 quid a chip for seven chips... I would have given it much lower but there is plus points... Great selection of beers and the staff were very attentive and nice and the place itself is very cosy.

Good service, nice interior,small odd male toilets and dodgy lock.

The bar looks lovely but that's it. It's a shame as they've made a really effort to make it look nice. £9 for a cocktail that I could tell had any alcohol in it, and the glass was full of crushed ice, so most of the liquid should have been alcohol. Had Sausage and Mash to eat, the sausages looked like they were cooked in the microwave as they had no colour on them and the mash was dry not creamy, it came with onions but no gravy. My friend had the Tandori Chicken which looked and tasted like a cheap ready made curry from tesco. Also the XXX sign right next to the church is quite distasteful and unnecessary.

Nice new bar ... We'll be back ...
