Pizza Express in City of London, Westminster

They say they are open till 2 am but they are not. Even if you order at 1.30 am the will say ‘accepted’ but will not fufuil your order, do not rely on them. When I called to ask if our food was accepted and on my hey way I was put onto a very rude person who just said no ( at 1:45) when they are arrantly open to 2am. Also when your order food late, is it cold and not up to standards. I am very disappointed.

This trip to Pizza Express was a special treat for my daughter's 21st birthday. We both decided to order dough balls for our starter (my daughter ordering off her children's menu). However, upon arrival my daughter was nearly in tears after noticing that her 4 dough balls were in fact not balls but conjoined to form a sausage shaped dough train. Hence, making it impossible to dip them in the complementary garlic infused dip. To make matters worse as the waitress placed my dough balls in front of me, a set of 'dough ball twins' rolled onto the floor and even though the waitress was very apologetic this was only with only replaced with a singular ball. Thankfully, the remainder of my meal was great and my daughter's pizza and bambinoccino (which I must say had a great milk to froth ratio) made up for the dreaded dough ball disaster.

One of the better branches. Pizza Express is one of those places that are hit and miss. This is one of the better branches. It's huge and busy with lot's of seating. Relatively clean. Fast, friendly and efficient service. You know what your getting. They have a variety of pasta, pizza's, salads and other items. Vegan's are well catered for. They also have a good range of healthy options and display calorie / nutrition information for the health conscious. The restaurant has a nice, cosy atmosphere and a good place to have a relaxing dinner. I had never tried a calzone before so went for the vegan calzone which was filled with roasted peppers, aubergine and courgette with spinach, smoky tomato harissa, hot chilli, tomato with garlic and topped with rosemary. It came with a side salad. I thought it might be heavy but it was light. Some may find it spicy. I had a low calorie sprite to drink with it. It's nice to see restaurants offering more low calorie drinks rather than just diet coke. Food was well presented and came out quickly. Freshly made and warm. I can't fault it. Pizza Express have offers on a lot so check their website as their good value.

I ate at this, and another, Pizza Express location and enjoyed both meals - ordering both pizza and other dishes off the menu. Our meals were tasty and the service was very good. Would recommend for families with small children.

I went with a group of workmates - around 10 of us in total. Some just wanted starters, some used the 2 courses for £12.95, but when my other colleague and I (so 2 vouchers) asked about the O2 priority offer, the waiter was incredibly rude. We as a group went last year to the same one and we used vouchers then so very confused. Would not recommend due to the service received. They also took ages to get our order. Obviously no tip paid. We will be trying elsewhere for our next meal out!

We visited during the night time.The service provided was amazing as the waiter Marco was very generous. He always smiling and knew the menu completely. He gave us very good recommendations and we will for sure come back again.

When my Dad suggested going to Pizza Express for a meal I wasn’t very enthusiastic (and I love pizza). I’ve been to numerous branches over the years and wasn’t surprised with the recent news stories that the franchise has been in dire straits. However, I was pleasantly surprised: the food was prompt and brilliantly cooked (I went to a branch in Waterloo a few months previously where I’d had to call the waiter over and ask for a pizza that wasn’t burned, for example). Our waiter was very friendly indeed and there was plenty of space; often in these sort of restaurants in London, you feel like you’re sitting on each other’s laps! It was the best Pizza Express I had had in a good few months, maybe even years.

This is the best express in area [avoid regent street one it is a mad house]. This was calm and relaxing after shopping. Very nice pink g and t and excellent waiter. Pizzas were lovely [Veneziana much improved minus anchovies] and chianti is a good price. Please don't change for a more modern refit like the horrid Regent st branch.

After a very busy day popped in for a pizza and a drink. Very warm welcome, great staff so very helpful. Had pizza which was freshly cooked, just what we needed. Drinks were good too, very reasonable. Great little place, good location.

the place is very nice, i got pizza for the hotel (take out), service was excellent and fast, the pizzas though were quite small and pricey at least for my criteria, but i recommend it

For those from the US- great pizza, the pepperoni was great. If you are traveling with people with food allergies they did a great job managing this.

We were pleasantly surprised that in the land of fish and chips and Indian Restaurants there existed a real fine pizza restaurant.

We popped in here in on Friday evening as all the pubs were spilling out on the pavement and we just wanted a quiet place to chat over a drink. The waitress gave us a warm welcome and showed us to the ideal seats then took our order of two spritzers and some gluten free dough balls. The spritzers needed a bit more apple and mango in them and mine certainly wasn't the same colour as the menu suggested. The problem came when my friend paid for her dough balls and spritzer and the waitress accused her firstly of under declaring our consumption as she had spotted a second glass (you served us the drinks) and then bizarrely accused her of going and spending time at another table, which she clearly hadn't. As I had my card out to pay for the other drink the obvious solution to this seemingly impossible problem would have been to give me the terminal which a second waiter eventually did.

Came here on a Friday evening with my brother & boyfriend when it was quiet (6pm), it took 20 minutes to get drinks & be served, we had to ask for water 3 times. The food finally came but 1 pizza was cold & on the wrong base. Our mains were served before our starter plates were cleared away. The dessert menu was given to us & then forgotten about. We asked twice to order dessert before giving up & asking for the bill - the only thing which did come quickly. A shame because good location & tasty food, just the service let it down today.

My friend and I often meet at the Great Portland Street branch of Pizza Express and always receive a great meal served by friendly staff.

Este restaurante es bueno para grupos grandes y singletons, con un comedor estilo bar en la parte trasera. No he visto esto en la cadena anteriormente, pero funciona muy bien, sin embargo, hay sus mesas tradicionales de granito en el resto del lugar para una comida más tradicional. El personal es amable, pero no siempre es el más fácil de captar la atención, para pedir bebidas adicionales, etc. En un par de ocasiones ahora hemos olvidado los pedidos de bebidas, pero en todas partes siempre parece estar limpio y la comida generalmente llega a tiempo. Para un mordisco rápido y sin complicaciones, es una buena opción en la que sabe qué esperar.

Went today arrived at 11.30 as they were opening, so first ones in. Advised that had to be at an appointment at 1pm. Told yes plenty of time.

Menu has changed and not sure it's for the best. The dough balls were lovely. Pollo pesto is not quite what I expected it to be, maybe a poor choice I made. Average service

No se preocupan por sus clientes y nos hicieron tener una experiencia tan mala. Necesitan contratar mejores camareros, no es que estuvieran ocupados, sino que eran malos camareros y gerentes. La comida estaba fría y todo lo que pedíamos teníamos que pedir al menos 2 o 3 veces. No vaya a esta sucursal, simplemente no vale la pena, ya que es un poco caro de todos modos.

Went here for dinner with work colleagues. Sharing platter was plentiful and food all fresh and served hot. Busy Tuesday night, but they managed our table of 25+ very well.

The waiters were busy and not in a good mood. They also served more promptly the local UK crowd while us as foreigners they ignored and made us wait a long time. It felt like a double standard lol. If they hate being waiters and waitresses then work in a different field of work that doesn’t require serving people! I know these staffs are from a troubled background but seriously learn hospitality or don’t work as waiters. Made us wait an hour for pizza. Asking for check annoyed them too. They seriously have attitude problems, especially towards foreigners for no apparent reason. The food, in the end, when it finally came, tasted good though. LOL. They seem depressed with their job or the fact that they’re understaffed and taking it out on customers.

I’ve visited this Pizza Express at least once a month and have never been disappointed by the treatment from the team. Food has been great, service excellent and made to feel welcome, not rushed.

Located opposite Greta Portland street tube station..you might need to turn right then right again to see it, is this thing long wedge branch. windows cover the entire eat side but overlooks the busy euston road junction,. Inside via a few steps are usually a place covered with group parties, such is the volume of covers

Como en todos los Pizza Express, salvo el de Soho que tiene Jazz Club, restaurantes sin nada especial y pizzas que sin ser las mejores que haya probado, son bastante decentes para salir del paso y cenar rápido. Sin embargo, su principal problema es el precio, la media es de unos 13-14 libras mas servicio por pizza, lo cual es excesivamente caro (incluso en Londres) para un establecimiento de cadena y sin nada especial.

One of the better branches. Very busy and normally is. Service good. Staff friendly and good despite being busy. Huge restaurant, nice atmosphere. Had the polenta chips and pizza. Can't remember which one but substituted the ham for chicken and asked for no cheese. Yes, I hate cheese. Asked for the pizza snd chips to come together which it did. Delicious. The pizza was perfect. Finished it all. Had a diet coke to drink followed by the honeycomb slice with vanilla ice cream. The place where we sat near the door, the floor could have dome with a clean. Pizza bits and crumbs from previous diners. All and well cleaning the table but what about the floor? Would have got a 5 otherwise.

My Padang pizza (thinner Romana type) was ok in terms of taste but the base was raw! Friendly waitress and speedy service improved the situation a bit.

This place is on the same level as any other Pizza Express. It can get busy at lunchtimes. Service was good and speedy.

Had a nice meal with the hubby and kids. Wasn't overly busy and food and service good as usual. Quite pricey in total but as used Tesco vouchers that wasn't an issue. Not keen on the choice of lagers but still all enjoyed our meals.

Easter Sunday, window table for 4, can't say I'm a big pizza fan & not sure I would ever have chosen a pizza parlour to eat, went for the spiciest pizza they had, very nice, I was starving not eaten for 10 hours, waitress was lovely, hope she does not have to share her tips with the rest they just stood around watching like hawks, Bill with 25% off from a discount code downloaded just before we went in £65 with drinks.

Estuve en el restaurante con 3 amigos y la experiencia no fue genial. El servicio estaba bien, pero algunos del personal no fue muy acogedor (cómo un camarero no venga a sonreír una sola vez? ? ). Tuve pizza y haber tenido la misma en otras ramas pe me quedé muy decepcionado - Queso muy poco, demasiado tomate y la base no parecía estar bien preparado. Simplemente no sabor agradable. De hecho me sentí un poco enferma después de cenar como mi estómago estaba luchando para digerir. Un amigo que tenía la lasaña no tampoco. Supongo que el hecho de que el restaurante estaba prácticamente vacío un viernes por la noche, debería haber sido una oportunidad de advertencia.

Hemos visitado este lugar un par de veces, para argentino sugiero pedir la pizza gruesa, no la común, ya que es muy finita. ensalada Cesar es muy completa hay que pedir la grande lo la chia que es una porción individual.

Have eaten here at least a dozen times, and left reasonable reviews in the past - but this week was served a Romano pizza, (which I've had before) the centre of which tasted like rice paper soaked in grease - left most of it. Staff spent most of their time shouting to each other across the restaurant to each other about whose table was whose on the tills. Unlikely to return.

We came for a quick supper and were pleased (both) to have chosen the Leggara Padana that really hit the spot. It had a light, crispy base with the promised goat's cheese and the salad in the centre. We added the "Superboost" and this was probably a good enhancement.

Have eaten her a few times before tonight and the food and service has always been good. The desserts are good so I'd pass on any starters and go main dessert. Always seems to be a quick high turnover of customers so if you want somewhere with atmosphere bring friends and make it yourself.

We decided to eat here with friends and their children as it was near where they were staying. It was a Sunday evening and very quiet, so child friendly. We had pizzas and desserts, which were as you'd expect. The desserts were very good.

Comí una pizza clásica que era pastoso. Esposa pasamos bastante ensalada de mierda (5 libras) como entrante, que era unas cuantas hojas y pedazos de tomate y salsa gloopy. Ella tenía una pizza romano para principal, que era normal.

Food nice, tho I did notice my pasta was left sitting on the chefs counter for at least 5 minutes before a waitress brought it over.The main point I'd like to make is that this restaurant is like a crèche. It's ambience is totally ruined by free range children and selfish parents blocking the way with buggies the size of a double decker bus.I appreciate there are limits to what staff can do but can you not have an area reserved especially for couples & small parties??? Just so we can actually talk normally without constant interruption from other people's kids shouting? Afterall, 'parent with child' parking spaces are common place at the supermarket these days, so why not have a 'couples only' seating area in your establishment?

I only go here for the £5 o2 meal deal and always regret it! The food is nice but the service is awful! Not given menus a ridiculous wait for food and just miserableness all round to be honest!

Vi åt på Pizza Express på Langham Place men tror kvaliteten är densamma. Mycket välgjorda pizzor, snabb service och trevlig personal. Känns som bra råvaror fast man håller pizzorna enkla. Lagom temperatur på vinet...personal som bryr sig!

We called in here after a recording at the Radio Theatre and were not disappointed. We chose olives and their new Cod Crocchette to start, which were both lovely. Then had the Classic Sloppy Giuseppe and Romana La Reine (my favourite), both were very nice but they seemed to go cold very quickly.We skipped dessert and went for liquor coffees, again they were tasty but took a very long time (and the restaurant was not busy).I have headed this review with the nationality of the waitress as I didn't catch her name, but she definitely deserves praise. She was extremely professional and helpful, and we had a brief chat about holiday destinations in her homeland!

We popped into this Pizza Express around 6.00 pm over the Easter period. Staff were very pleasant & helpful & within a matter of minutes we had ordered our meals. All the food was really good & cooked extremely well. My wife, who has a gluten-free diet, was very well catered for. When we were ready to leave our waitress, a really attentive & friendly young woman, ordered us a cab on the restaurant's phone. All in all an extremely enjoyable & reasonably priced meal. Perfect!

I like Pizza Express a lot and when I ate at the Great Portland St branch it was the service that stood out for me. My colleague brought her young baby and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. We had dough balls, garlic bread, leggera pizzas and coffee. Will definitely go there again. We went at 12 and were able to choose our table, but it can get very busy at peak times. It is just 5 minutes or less from the Great Portland St. tube station.

Ordered soho 65, a good pizza do try it if you go there. Located on great Portland Street and close to Regents Park.

After saying I'd prefer not to sit next to the door on a freezing cold night (when there were plenty of tables elsewhere), I was seated in an area where no one appeared to be serving.I waited six minutes before someone so much as asked if I wanted anything to drink, and the pizza was undercooked after waiting more than half an hour for it. Hard to decide which was runnier - the base or the egg white.As by this time I was running late for an appointment, I asked for the bill when the pizza arrived. I was bought the wrong one, with a total about twice what it should have been.

The pizza was, at best, average and overpriced. Toppings unremarkable and crust very mediocre. In a competitive arena like London, I was expecting much better quality. I would advise searching for a more "ma and pa" authentic pizzeria. The quality is bound to be better.

Food is nice, service is good. Only issues was that the glasses on the table were dirty. Other then that all ok.

We went to Pizza Express early for lunch and to our delight they were open and ready to serve us at 11:45. The restaurant was empty because it was so early but it slowly filled up and became quite busy by the time we left. The staff are friendly and our order came quickly. The pizza was really yummy! The restaurant itself is beautiful and very well located for the station. A great pizza place!

Staff all friendly but my leggera veggie pizza was cool when it arrived and got cold within a minute.The place is all glass and hard surfaces and the shape of the room means there is no real 'heart'.

Talking about food, I only ordered for a pizza (forgot the name of it, but was an expensive one, of 14.5 pounds), it was fine..! They also had low cost pizzas and many other items. I didn't have any plan for dessert, however a staff suggested I try their vanilla cheese cake.. and, it was wonderful by taste and presentation (pls. see the photo I posted), came up with a small scoop of ice cream having real/ natural vanilla in that..... ummmmm.... it was soooooo goooood..... both the cheese cake and ice cream..!There were customers of Indian, Asian, African, European and Bangladeshi (me) backgrounds... and, all were very comfortable.. mostly because of the well communicative and quality staff they have. One staff with big moustache was doing soooo good with his customers (an Indian family with kids) that I started missing my kids in that environment...!!!I highly appreciate and recommend this restaurant specially to families with kids..!

Very reasonably prices seen as food quality was great.Had two courses and i loved both of them.Came out fairly quick and was very hot .Food tasted fresh and was full of flavour.Would definitely visit again for sure!!The service was fantastic ,waiter called Pompeo, was amazingly helpful and friendly.

What to say??Very nice place, the blonde waitress has been very kind and even made us a good cake. The appetizer: high price for an appetizer served with the frozen zucchini was been put into the plate as if it were a glass of water.The pizza was a heart attack (I opted for the classic margherita), napkins are more thick of this pizza, the tomato was equal to cheapest cans I buy usually in Tesco ... The sweet: one of most delicious cake I've tasted here in London, the flavors were mixed to perfection and the presentation was very good, I will leave you a photo. In total we paid 58 pound, 2 beers, 1 starter, 2 pizzas, 1 coffee and 1 sweet. This review is for the Pizza Express on Langham Place by the BBC at the south end of Portland Street, I hope this is the right one. I came here alone for a quick pizza and wow it was quick. Service from Dagmara was friendly, professional and swift. I had the new menu item the 'Basilicata' pizza (but with a gluten free base) with minted lamb meatballs, red onion and rocket - what a delicious combination! Greens gluten free pilsner was a welcome accompaniment. The Langham Place is one of the best Pizza Express I've visited. Not only fab service but also the pizza was perfectly crispy and well covered, no trace of sogginess and no bare patches. Will definitely come again when in this part of London.

This was a good decision for us coeliacs: gluten free pizza and gluten free beer in one location - combined with friendy staff and a convenient atmophere.

My wife, my daughter and I had tried to get a quick lunch in two nearby pubs but had failed because they were so crowded due to customers watching the Euros on the giant screens. Pizza Express over the road suddenly seemed very tempting. On entering we were greeted warmly and shown to a very nice window seat offering a good view of the world passing by on Great Portland Steet. We all chose Margharitas which were excellent as was the friendly service. This is a very well-run establishment and we will happily return.

Me and my friends came on Sunday evening for a dinner.We ask for table for 7 people. Waiter very kindly pick our order, drinks arrive quickly food as well. Everything was ok up to moment when we ask for Bill.Waitress brought reciept, and we ask to split bill between us. Waitress was very impatient and rude. When first couple paid their part of bill waitress disapear for a minute come back with calculator which was THROWN on table. When my friend start calculating how much should pay, waitres start agresivelly speak in Italian to ohter waiter and walk away from our table. Rest of bill was sorted by other waiter. Food was good, but this situation at end destroed everything.Got reciept if needed.

The pizza was fine - no complaints about the food, really. But service was really slow, and the atmosphere was LOUD - very hard to have a quiet conversation when the place is at full capacity. I probably would not go back again without a great promotion. Actually it is kind of expensive for the product - you probably could find better for less nearby.

Although the service was good, the product was fine and the atmosphere not bad, it didn't bring anything special. It is exactly what you would expect from a pizza place like this: express service, fast and based on quantity, rather than quality. I can recommend this place if there is not too much expectation of the quality and time is more important than anything else.

Fab place. They were closing whn we arrived like hungry zombies after a concert however all the restaurants were clised already by the time we treked back to our hotel. This place was open but they were about to lock up fir the night. They offered us two take away pizzas instead of a sit down..which was great of them because it wsd clesrly home time. The pizzas were top notch# thank you very much for your great service!

This pizza place is a 5 stars place you can eat and enjoy.Just know i was there and have great meal and enjoy the pizza By the way the staff is very friendly

We had a good visit unlike some other reviewers. It was really a visit simply to refuel. The staff were very helpful, welcoming and jolly, as you should expect. The food was good although my sons pizza was a little on the small side I thought..

I visited with a group of friends. We all had the meal deal options. Some of us had 2 courses and some had 3. When the bill came the waiter had messed it up, no big deal these things happen. It was over by £40, but it just looked like the deal hadn't been applied. He took it back and came back with a new one. This time it was £25 over what we should pay. Things went down hill from there, he got stroppy, rolling his eyes telling us he couldn't over ride the system. That we couldn't combine having the 2 course deal and the 3 course deal, which is absurd, I've done it many times. It's often the case that some want 3 courses and some only want 2. All in all it took us 45 minutes of arguing back and forth to get the bill to be the right amount. I'm absolutely shocked by his attitude and the screw up. Many customers were actually complaining about their bill, so I suggest more training is needed or a better till system.At one point we were going to call for the manager only to realise our waiter was the manager...All in all, good food but let down with stroppy staff who couldn't understand why we wouldn't pay more for our meal. It isnt like we were looking for a bargain, we just wanted to advertised price!

Certo non si và all'estero per mangiare la Pizza, ma con un marito dai gusti difficili purtroppo, a volte, non si può fare altrimenti. Buona la pizza, sottile e fragrante ma una margherita 10 sterline è pazzesco! in linea coi prezzi di Londra...ma per noi italiani sempre pazzesco.

We decided to pop in here after an evening class in the area. With a large chain like Pizza Express you kind of know what you are getting.Food was served promptly, however, was not hot, and additonal service took absolutely ages due to the branch not having enough staff. It took almost 15 mins to request my bill and pay, which I don't really deem to be acceptable.More focus on customer service is needed here...
