Pizza Express in Newark and Sherwood

Not impressed that we were unable to order antipasto or the Quattro Carne pizza due to a lack of ingredients. Not what you expect from a large chain.

I have not received my order despite it stating it has been delivered. Where is it?

Our pizza express said they had delivery 30 mins ago, we are still waiting, I have tried to call them several times only to get through to voice mail, left several massages to call me back to no avail, very disappointed to say the least, is this a professional service, or just happy to take the money and don't deliver

Came in today for a quick bite, the service was very good by a new starter he was a little nervous but soon found his flow. Enjoyable visit.

Ordered here multiple times now and the order always comes wrong. I understand mistakes happen but this is a regular occurrence. Today was the final straw for me. We spent £41 on pizza and pasta and ordered through deliveroo , the food came stone cold..... When my wife opened her so called chicken pasta , there was no chicken at all , and the past was half swimming in green grease. I rang back multiple times to complain and ask for the food to be made again and delivery in good time as we had already waited a fair while. The phone got answered twice , the first time nobody spoke and just left me a while so i rang back again to nobody speaking again to finally somebody say bare with me and then hang up. I then rang a few more times and nobody answered. At this point i ended up driving into town to speak to the actual restaurant it self and their staff to see a number of staff free to take a call and only a couple of tables filled for dining non of which needed help. While in the restaurant waiting for our re order i noticed the chef eating while cooking and the " manager " blow his nose and continue to do jobs without washing his hands. Upon taking our second order home after driving into town for a delivery collection to collect myself my wife began eating her food and bit into some chicken which was pink which resulted in her leaving her meal once again and £17 plus for a pasta dish that was twice uneatable and a whole lot of messing around. This will be the last time we will order or dine from pizza express and this will be reported to head office

Hardly any cheese on the pizza garlic bread and despite specifically asking for the two halves of the duo not to encroach, as per it did, which means my vegetarian partner risks getting pepperoni and I get some veg which to don’t like. The pizza looked ‘thrown’ together without care.

Paid almost £90 for two adults and a child to eat was really busy and understaffed, the two lady's waitressing were really really good, but the food ultimately was just meh. No ice for drinks so the two cocktails that where orders looked like sad shots, won't be visiting again

We bought a pizza to take away over Christmas. When we got home and started to eat the food it tasted horrible as the bottom had been over cooked and burnt! It was too far for us to come back and get another one so we just wasted money as it wasn’t eatable. This isn’t the first issue we have had with food here but we have never complained as the staff have always been really helpful! Please make sure food is cooked correctly before letting people waste their money and time!

We visited today with our little family Quality of the service is unmatched. The manager, the staff were all so attentive and helpful. We really enjoyed our food that was served very quickly as well. Will be back again.

If you want an authentic Italian experience, you're in the wrong place, but honestly you really can't argue with the quality and price here. Prezzo, take note!

It was a very sunny Tuesday afternoon lovely staff great food

The food was reliable, just as in other Pizza Express restaurants but the service was just shocking. From the moment we walked in, the initial staff member we met was blunt and cold as if he did not want us to be at the restaurant and showed us to our table with no word despite us trying to be kind and jovial. Order time was slow but we appreciate sometimes that cannot be helped, however it continued to go downhill even as the restaurant emptied out. The waiter who served us whilst polite and helpful with the drinks came across a bit belittling, referring to us as “girls” (bearing in mind we are in a our mid 20s) which made us feel very uncomfortable. We were sat upstairs with two other occupied tables and the service for everyone was incredibly slow from the time to wait to order drinks, to then ordering mains. We indicated to the waiter that we wanted to utilise the set menu (who did not seem very aware of it despite it being all over the menu) and started by ordering starters and mains. The food was great as always with Pizza Express (pizza a little overdone but sometimes cannot be helped in the ovens!). Once we were served our mains, not a single member of staff came back upstairs again. We were sat with empty plates waiting for assistance for an hour and a half. The other table that was still occupied at the time ended up going downstairs to get their bill, and we were wanting to order desserts from the set menu as previously discussed with the waiter. But absolutely nothing. Ultimately we gave up on trying to order dessert and more drinks and was able to use the app to pay (which in itself was difficult). Fortunately we utilised a buy one get one for £2.95 deal otherwise the bill would have been extortionate as we couldn’t use the set menu. We had thought that maybe the waiter who was serving us had finished his shift, but as we were leaving we saw him stood at the till chatting to another of his colleagues. Honestly it was the strangest experience and not one we hope to repeat any time soon.

Got turned away as they had a party of 14 coming in! Not a great business model to turn away all other customers just because you’ve a party coming in! Find a way to manage it surely! Edit… isn’t the reply from them a standard corporate joke of an answer!

Food lovely, environment generally not very clean, toilets awful

Dined here last night (1.9.24). While there 2 families were turned away having been told there were no tables. The whole of the upstairs was vacant! (although the tables were set food spillages had not been swept from under the empty tables). Downstairs only 3 tables were occupies plus one outside. The food was lovely but took almost an hour to be served. The waitress was very polite but clearly was in the wrong job. We won’t be going back in any hurry.

I love a Pizza Express, but I always feel let down when I go to this restaurant. Staff are pleasant, but they always seem to be short on staff and service tends to be slow. I’ve had to return a pizza or two in the past as it was cold by the time it had arrived at my table. But what really did it for me was the last time I came. I was turned down at the door as I hadn’t reserved a table, and the restaurant couldn’t cope having two of us due to “staff shortages” despite having what looked like plenty of free tables. I wish I knew this before I had paid for the parking outside! Apparently there was nothing they could do to change this and sent us on our way. I won’t be visiting here again personally.

The American Hot Romana is my go to pizza, but the Spicy Giuseppe peaked my interest, so I asked for them both half and half! With extra nduja sausage! O Wow! Thats it from now on….

I'm just glad I got one of the 40% off bundles because the Romana pizza was soggy, tasteless and cold and the chips were lukewarm and I got about 7! Not a great experience, sorry 😐

Is it looks like garlic prawn pizza with extra prawns??? I paid 40£ for 2 pizzas and got pizza which looks like someone just throw up. So disappointed…

The place was short staffed and we ended up being served by one of the chefs... He apologised it was his first time waiting but the knowledge of the menu was exceptional (as you'd expect of the chef), he was very attentive and kept checking on our group. I wish service was always this good everywhere we go.. We returned last week and booked online but turned up to find a note on that door saying 'sorry unexpected closure'. A wasted journey across the county but will return and hope the lack of staff does not force a closure.

Newark resturant! Would just like to start by saying how much of a host Kieran was he was telling us he used to work there 3 years again and only got back into it about 2 weeks and he seems like his a nature as he was spot on made mine and my partners 6 year anniversary even more cosy!! But overall great night and great food and service Would go million times over was glad to be able to take some home maybe for a midnight snack 😉 Thank you pizza express newark and kieran!!

The service from Anna was impeccable, she was endlessly patient, knowledgeable, observant, and was willing to go the extra mile. The food was superb: 2-4-1 dough balls with the free club membership, plus fantastic pizzas! Atmosphere was quiet but it was a Wednesday night at 19:20 so that's to be expected, though I'd have probably put more people in the right hand restraint and left the one with the staircase empty to boost the atmosphere. The chicken wings were abysmal. A disgusting mess. Tasted of almost nothing except cheap chicken. The pizza was cold and chewy. Extremely disappointed and will never order from here again.

My husband, son, mother and I attended Pizza Express on 22nd April ’24 between 13:45 – 14:00 to have something to eat for my son’s first birthday. I am a regular customer of Pizza Express and always enjoyed the restaurant experience and we were excited for our son to experience this for the first time. On arrival we waited in the designated area to be seated. A woman then started walking towards us picked up some menus and then asked rudely any allergies and proceeded to point to an available table. There was no warm welcome, no greeting, no eye contact, nor asking how many was part of our party from the staff member. We were so shocked by this service, we had initially mistaken the person as not a staff member. One of the reasons why I chose Pizza Express as a place to dine is due to the superb customer service I generally receive. I was deeply disheartened by this experience. I was so distraught and shocked by this experience that we decided to leave the restaurant and found another restaurant to celebrate our son’s birthday.

Service varies massively depending on when you go. Food available normally good and quality generally consistent. Cleanliness could do with a boost, as table and chairs generally lack a good clean. With rewards, not overpriced at all

The quality is horrendous. Cold, All wet and floppy. Looks like it was baked like a week ago then frozen and reheated in microwave for a minute or so before delivery, pizza was delivered very fast from the time of order so to be stone cold is impossible. This is literally the worst pizza ever. Uneatable. Not sure what happened there. As last time I ordered it from same place it was so good. Today like night and day. I am not picky at all. But had to throw away.

Tiled floors meant it sounded echoey and every movement of chairs scraped the floor so it sounded like a screech. Food and service was good.

Popped into the Newark-on-Trent store for lunch had a wonderful pizza and dough balls, friendly staff and great venue 👌

Pizzas, chips and garlic bread were all under cooked. Not even edible.

My waitress Millie was lovely and provided excellent service! She was very friendly and made sure our dining experience was enjoyable. All of our orders were accurate and was delivered with a smile. The food was a delightful experience, all the pizzas were perfectly cooked and flavourful and the service prompt and courteous making it a very enjoyable dining experience. Will definitely return here with my friends on another occasion :)

Nice view of the river, waiters are very kind, good service, overall; the best pizzeria in Newark On Trent I, as a young one say (12) have been not treated very well with no adult in other pizzerias but the waiters where treating us like any other customer. Overall a 10/10

dont pre-pay. dont have a party here. it takes sooo long to get served. 90 mins to get food out. loads not available, not told until an hour later.

Absolutely amazing service. The waitress, a blonde girl, was absolutely lovely! She was very well mannered and knew what she was doing. She made sure to check in on us throughout our meal and make sure everything was alright for us. Genuinely the best customer service I've ever had at a restaurant.The food was amazing and didn't take long at all to turn up. It was made a lot faster than I expected it to, especially food for myself and 4 friends. The chef genuinely did such a good job and I don't have a single complaint about my night. Will definitely visit again soon.

Came in after watching some lovely fireworks, happened to be the only ones in the restaurant which was very relaxing! :) Our waiter Oliver was very kind and welcoming and happy to help us quickly with our order, the food was lovely and came nice and quick despite it being close to closing which we did feel a-bit bad about not realising they closed soon ! Oliver was happy to help with a takeaway box and overall gave us a welcome experience at pizza express!! :)

*AVOID THIS PLACE AND SAVE YOUR HARD EARNT CASH* We arrived at the restaurant to celebrate a significant 50th Birthday, we did not know what a treat we were in for! On arrival we had a warm welcome by the waitress of "Can I help you" not even as much as a hello or warm smile! A dissapointing start. We were then informed as we gravitated towards where we wished to sit, that we could not sit upstairs, which is the pinnacle of the restaurant with its sweeping views of Newark and the river, because the waitress was on her own. Somehow because of this she was unable to walk up a set of stairs to serve us so she claimed? The restaurant was empty, only one other table of two. The restaurant was also freezing cold. No heating. We had to have our whole meal while keeping our outdoor coats on it was that cold! We had our drink and food order taken. Drinks came well. Starter of dough balls came timely. It was then a wait of over an hour for a main course to arrive, in an empty restaurant by now! So why was the wait? The food then arrived. One of the pizza we had ordered was almost cold and inedible, most of the pizza was left. This happened to be the birthday guest's one. We had no mid service check in by staff to raise our concerns. All in all a very dissapointing experience from start to finish unfortunately, and will not be revisiting this venue in the near future. We would of had a much more rewarding time visiting the local McDonalds branch for a lot less, and that is really saying something!

Do not order a delivery! 1.5 hours after I ordered - the Deliveroo guy turned up with the wrong order, when I informed him of this he took it away, very unhelpfully said you have to contact through the App, nowhere on the Deliveroo App is any option to contact to sort a wrong order or refund. I called pizza express themselves and although I ordered through the pizza express App, then can’t help either. So 21:30 No food and £40 taken out of my account and paid to pizza express. Too late to re order and have to await an email battle to get a refund. The manager informed me they have many problems with these drivers and that this happen a lot but nothing they can do!! Really disappointing service, and ruined evening 🤬😡

The place could do with a lick of paint and a good deep clean. One waitress wearing glasses was fab, she works her socks off. The other with very dirty air force ones on was miserable! Pizza's were a little under done too. The worst pizza express we've ever eaten at.

The service is the slowest thing I’ve ever experienced and it’s not just the one time I’ve been there. Be prepared to be there for 2 hours for a 1 course meal. I like the vegan menu - although there’s a weird rule that they can’t give you vegan cheeze unless it’s melted.

Stopped off in Newark, only the 2nd time I have been to Newark, when traveling from North to South home. Stooped for a quick bite, loved the glass domed top floor, handy car park right outside, river views, great food and service.

I visited last Monday, the place wasn't very busy but we waited an hour and a half for 2 pizzas and a salad, it was obvious there was a lack of staff, there wasn't much in the way of toppings on the pizza and no dressing on the salad, we were just about to walk out as the food arrived because we were already late for picking up a relative from work, the staff were very friendly and helpful but the wait for what we had was ridiculous

Very disappointed, I emailed Pizza express directly to complain. Happy with the companies reply. Disappointed with the local service. I will go to pizza express again, but will avoid this branch.

First visit and was not impressed. Not sure if the lad that served me was new or just having a bad day. But food was a bit above average, nothing to shout home about. Serive as medium as it gets and atmosphere about same. Had a friend who advised us to just go asda and get 1 half the price with more on but like to give the benefit of the doubt. Price was steep for what you get and to be fair it saves cooking one yourself

Visited here on a Wednesday evening at 6pm as a table of 2 to just grab a quick bite to eat. Greeted kindly by a young lady who told us she won’t be a minute which was fine. Moments later we were told by a different member of staff that without a reservation that we would have to wait 45 mins, (rudely I must add) when the restaurant however both inside and out was almost empty. For a chain restaurant based on quick turnover and at least adept customer service this smacks of lack of training and experience. It takes time to build a good reputation and minutes to lose it.

Absolutely disgusted with this company, ordered a take away delivery, told it would be 25 mins turned up over an hour later, the food was warm at best, rand the restaurant to complain , we even probed the food for temperature readings while on the phone to the manager, the pasta dish probed less than 34 degrees, another pasta dish probed less than that, we were told that the duty manager wasn't trained in giving refunds and she would message the manager to sort, to date no courtesy call from manager, all contact has to be through web chat, and they claim that food was delivered within the time promised, THIS IS THE WORST SERVICE EVER, I hope trading standards or the food agency see this feedback and act as someone will end up ill through the way these operate

Great pizzas and wide selection of drinks to choose from.

We arrived today and the staff were very rude and busy chatting and we stood there being ignored and to tell us there is no place available. We drove a long way from newcastle today. Will never go to any Pizza Express very disapointed indeed. Time to get some decent staff.

Dla kierowców za wyjątkiem 2-3 osób obsługa bardzo niemiła. Za każdym razem czas oczekiwania od 20 do 40 minut. Kiedyś było inaczej. Właściciele powinni coś z tym zrobić. Ostatecznie to klient czeka bardzo długo za dostawą.

Amazing service, even though it was busy and they probably could have done with an extra pair of hands! Really paid attention to my dietary requirements and made sure everything was okay. Would definitely visit again!

Pizza base soggy and looked dirty, to much cheese

Aidan was such a help, it changed my night and Alex was as much of a help as Aidan, they both were amazing and deserve to be awarded for their work, nothing can compare to the service I had to tonight, also including Tom provided me with the best meal of my life 10/10 reviews will come again.

Came in for a mid afternoon meal and was really happy with my experience. My grandchildren loved it! Our waitress Grace was lovely and was extremely attentive to our needs, especially allergies. Will be bringing the grandkids here again when I get to enjoy the day with them!

Had an awful experience the service was shocking We asked for a jug of water and the waitress forgot then said she had no jugs in an empty restaurant. Then brought my wife the wrong pizza and challenged her trying to blame her when it wasn’t anything to do with her it was the incorrect order which meant I had to eat my own pizza alone or let it go cold. There was no apology or an offer for a complimentary extra or discount Very much disappointed worse experience ever for a regular customer at the Lincoln store

Went for dinner at the Newark pizza express, waited nearly an hour for a salad, it wasn’t even busy when we arrived. All the plates and cutlery was dirty, the staff were rude, they couldn’t be helpful if they tried. They didn’t listen to our orders, failed to let us know food was out of stock, then brought us salad with stuff we asked not to be on there. When we said about this they then refused to come back to our table, we had to go up and sort the bill ourselves. We won’t be returning, wasn’t the first time this had happened too.

This is the worst experience we have ever had at a Pizza Express. 2 hour wait, burned food and stroppy management. Never again. We definitely won’t be back. We didn’t pay for drinks as compensation for a truly beyond poor experience. Had to visit a second restaurant in Newark. Thank you the Green Olive for saving the day.

BBQ Burnt Ends pizza - AVOID. We received a pizza swimming in sauce and totally un-edible. Waitress didn't know what to say when I said it was awful and the chefs need to be told! Won't be coming back!

Calzone was pathetic, the salad dressing had more flavour.. Certainly more salad than I had filling in the calzone.
