Pizza Express in Leeds

Me and my girlfriend came here on a quite Wednesday afternoon for a late lunch. Right from the start Luke was very friendly and welcoming. His service was excellent and he made the start to our 1 year anniversary celebrations very special.

Never got the food because the address is correct but the map is wrong and driver was VERY rude

We visited yesterday and we didn’t like the pizza. We ordered a margarita pizza, garlic bread, and mozzarella sticks. None of them tasted good. The mozzarella sticks had a sweet ingredient that didn’t complement the recipe. The garlic bread was dry and the re was not enough cheese on it. It was practically made of dough. The pizza had sauce more than cheese. Some slices didn’t have cheese on them. The experience was disappointing.

Ordered 2 Pollo Pesto pastas and they were awful. There was little to no sauce in the pasta and it tasted bland overall and definitely did not taste like it had been freshly made. Very disappointed.

They're working hard, but seem understaffed, even when half full. Food and decor are typical of a Pizza Express.

10/10 experience at this pizza place! The staff was incredible, and Luke and Costi in particular were super nice and welcoming. From the moment we walked in, we felt right at home. The service was quick, the atmosphere was cozy, and of course, the pizza was amazing! Highly recommend if you’re looking for great food and even better service.

came here before a concert with no reservation, seated instantly, staff were organised and accommodating. the duty manager was brilliant and everything was super clean!

Just came from a graduation with family great service from the manager and team first class far superior to what we have in London . Great food and service 10 out 10 all round.

We came here yesterday for lunch. Both people that ordered pizza were very happy. However, I ordered the vegan penne pasta which was so spicy I couldn’t finish even half of it! My mum ordered the beef lasagne and was so disappointed to find no meat in it. It was purely sauce and pasta. Finally another member of the party ordered the Buddha bowl and was also slightly underwhelmed. I doubt we will return in a hurry, hugely disappointing for the price of the bill. We later ate at Wetherspoons which was not only nicer but was a fraction of the price.

The pizza wasn't edible as all the topping had slide off the pizza from been delivered!

We had an absolutely brilliant, warm and welcoming experience here! Mark especially went above and beyond to cater to our every need. We were in a bit of a rush so made sure our food came out all together, everything was super fresh and hot! Brilliant service and was made to feel right at home. Mark’s hospitality skills and personality are a credit to the Leeds Arena restaurant! Thank you for a great experience x

Ordered a delivery on the 19/6/2024. I have to say I was absolutely shocked by the quality of the food, the Sloppy Giuseppe and BBQ Burnt Ends pizzas were both undercooked and soggy! Not just cold because of delivery but undercooked, see pictures. The SG featured completely raw peppers and onions. The BBQ one was again soggy and slathered in nothing but fatty soggy bits of barely beef and BBQ sauce. The halloumi bites were also barely fried with very little colour, and an oily flavor. Dough balls were hard and chewy at the same time, idk how you manage that. I would not pay the discounted price let alone full price again, utter disappointment.

Wonderful pizza, great service, had 2 lovely waiters and live music!? Wasn't expecting it and made the evening just that bit better, thanks for a brilliant experience!

Visited with my mum before the Take That concert. We hadn’t booked a table and they were very but managed to squeeze us in. The manager, Luke, was very friendly and attentive. Despite being rushed off their feet, all of the staff were lovely and positive!

Superb food, great teamwork and fast efficient service We were going to the Take That concert & had not booked a table however that was not an issue for Mark the super efficient & cheery manager who got a table near the loos. We ordered our food & he then came to tell us he was going to move us to a different table away from the loos. Exceptional service & hospitality from him & his team : what a delight he is and it is so rare that you meet someone who clearly loves his job and is superb at what he does as well as running a "tight ship" with a super friendly chatty team. Truly outstanding !!

Visited as part of a work training day. We had pre-ordered food and drinks but even so, there was a very large group of us, all arriving at the same time. The staff were really attentive, calm & friendly. Food was equally as good. The restaurant was pleasant, clean and bright. Will definitely return, especially when visiting the arena due to it's location.

Called in before going to the arena. We didn't have a booking (mistake), but we were kindly allowed to dine, as long as we cleared our table by a given time. Great service, great food, and decent Peroni on draft.

Visited pre FD Arena event. The manager, Mark, greeted us warmly on our arrival. The restaurant was very busy but we still got excellent service and great food

We came here on a busy Saturday night before our concert at the arena. We were warmly greeted by Luke who was so kind and friendly! He made us feel so welcome and made us laugh, he showed us to our table which he let us pick which we really appreciated! Luke really is a credit to your company. Our server was a young girl with curly hair in a ponytail, who unfortunately we didn’t get her name. She was absolutely lovely and nothing was too much trouble for her. Even though the restaurant was busy we did not wait long for service or our food to arrive which was great! The food was lovely too! The only complaint I have is unfortunately for one staff member who appeared to be the manager. We saw him have 2 altercations with different staff where it was obvious he was having a go at the staff who seemed to have done nothing wrong at all! It felt uncomfortable to watch due to it being so close to our table and in the conversations he came across very rude and passive aggressive. He also did not smile once and was quite rude to customers and tables surrounding us which made us and I’m sure them feel awkward. Apart from this one minor thing the experience was great! We will definitely be back because of Luke and the lovely servers, however this one manager did ruin our meal a little.

Great Food, location and staff. been to a few pizza expresses in my time but this was one of the best experiences. The restaurant is located right across the road from the first direct Arena which is perfect is like us you are attending an event or concert there. Food was good, and well made. The stand out was Luke who was a fantastic front of house, managed the restaurant and ensured every one was looked after throughout there meal. Give this man pay rise he is a rare commodity in this world of blah staff. PS Loved the background music for the night was the artist i was going to see...nice touch.

We called in Pizza Express on our way to Leeds Arena on the off chance we could get a bite to eat before our gig. We were so pleased that Jake found us a table for two especially has the restaurant was full. Jake showed us to our table and said Anya would take care of us and take our order. After a short while Anya came over and took our order. She was very accommodating , polite and friendly even though she was clearly rushed off her feet. Jake also came over to see if everything was okay and was very attentive, polite and friendly. We noticed both of them never stood still and were engaging with their customers doing all they could to ensure their customers were happy. We have got to say , we feel that without these two members of staff the restaurant might’ve struggled that night, they did a brilliant job! The food was really good too and our dietary needs were met perfectly. We couldn’t ask for more. Thank you Jake and Anya for making our night extra special 😊

Visited the restaurant as part of a visit to the FD Arena. Being a chain made it easy as I was coming in from outside of Leeds - you know what to expect and the the quality. There are 2 things that made this restaurant exceptional. Firstly it is right on the doorstep of the Arena, and secondly it is very friendly. Luke, the greeter (?), was lovely and found us a table despite it being very busy, and Holly who took the order was so very friendly. I felt welcomed here and there was never any pressure to finish or rush.

'Pizza' as they call it here is a miserable excuse for a flabby warm cheese toasty. The 'dough' part was thinner than a piece of cheap cardboard. The chicken wings we ordered came and were pink, clearly undercooked also looked extremely greasy. To top it all off when we went to cut our pizza (they certainly didn't do it) we found the top of the pizza just fell apart from us handling it due to being so thin, then when I went to pick up the first slice there was hair in it! Absolutely disgusting. Their delivery service through Uber Eats is awful too. The rider came with his bag wide open in the middle of winter. The food was cold of course. Needless to say this along with the undercookedness and hair it went in the garbage. Never eating here ever again.

Very very good, flexible and helpful Luke the manager is an absolute hero, I booked out a huge section of the restaurant for our post race meal and he was so helpful and i hate to say quite funny. Absolutely 11/10 performance from him and all the staff in there. Thank you so much!

Went here over the weekend for a 21st birthday. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Our server, Courtney was brilliant. Polite and friendly and did everything she could to help us including bringing the birthday cake and singing along. Food was also great. Tastier than my local Pizza Express. Probably the best Pizza Express experience I’ve had.

Visited in August 23 (lunchtime) really quiet but the staff were lovely and attentive. Service was great and food was delivered quickly and good value for money.

Honestly the food here must be microwaved. Ordered on uber eats and the polenta chips were rubbery? How is that even possible couldnt eat any of them. I ordered two boxes and both were the same, so grim. Such a weird texture, not like polenta chips ive had in the past.

Outstanding service needs acknowledging. We naively assumed we could walk in and eat before an event at the Arena. Not so. Without a reservation we were turned away and given really clear directions to restaurants in Leeds that wouldn’t be as busy. Which we were grateful for. But after we left, Mark (maitre d’) called after us as he’d figured out a way to fit us in if we were quick. The food was excellent, the service from everyone was timely and top notch - but mostly, they were really, REALLY busy and Mark didn’t have to try and make things work, but he did anyway. A credit to the company. And I can highly recommend the Mushroom & Truffle pizza.

Beautiful Atmosphere, nice music not too loud, friendly and welcoming staff 👌🏽 but very slow it wasn’t full and they took a long time to serve our food, nice food not the best Italian though the pasta it’s quite insipid and a bit pricey for something that I could make better.

Item burnt all around the edges and slightly underneath too effected the taste greatly was shocked that the base wasn’t fully coved and had patch’s in

After being seated, it took them 20 minutes to take my order. The place only had a hand full of people inside max. This is the 2nd time ive been in here and it seems like nothin has changed. Staff just to busy talking at the bar to deal with customers. The pizza that came was fine, but the side of chips was just covered in Grease, totally soggy all the way through. After food was eaten, we sat for another 20 minutes waiting for the bill. In the end I walked to the bar and spoke to a member of staff. As you can see from the picture the restaurant was empty almost.

Only one complaint, getting food to the table was very, very slow. We realised that this was because of the huge amount of deliveroo / uber eats orders, which appeared to take precedence to in house diners.

Went on a Saturday night around 6pm. Luckily we had a reservation as it was very busy. The location is just a stone's throw from the Arena which is great if you're going to a gig there as we were. The food was very good as it usually is at Pizza Express. However, the service was very slow. We got there at 6pm and ordered pretty much within 5 minutes, We didn't get our main course until 7.10pm! Granted we did have a starter but this was served very soon after we got there, and nevertheless we had a LONG wait for our main. It didn't appear that the kitchen could handle the volume of orders there. If you don't mind the wait the food and atmosphere is great, but don't expect a quick turnaround if you want a quick meal.

Booked a table at 11am for this evening at 6;45pm as we were taking our son to a gig at the Arena. We received our Email confirmation fine so at 5pm we set off (We live quite far away) when we arrived at the restaurant we were greeted by a very stressed lady who asked us if we’d booked to which we showed her the Email confirmation. She said I’m sorry we’ve closed booking down an hour ago so cannot honour your booking? What? No Email to tell us of this situation, no phone call - we ended up trudging round Leeds to find no free tables so had to eat at bloody Burger King! Absolutely useless! They’re more interested in getting deliveroos out than getting bookings. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME!!

I always love Pizza Express, had high expectations when I went in for dining. The manager on seeing us (our colleagues) was very disappointed. Didn't understand the reason at first. Food was delicious as usual. But the way he treated us was very unprofessional. Whe the food came out to be served, he asked his colleague who took the order which table it was for. After knowing it was for our table immediately he asked his colleague to serve it than him. We thought that the manager usually won't serve the food. But then he was happily serving others in the restaurant except us. Only then we realised it was something to do with us. We can see that he was happily welcoming others. There was a false fire alarm when we were dining and then he personally went to each and every table except ours explaining not to panic as it was a false alarm. Duh... Even when processing the payment, he was half minded as he has to do it for us. Initially he asked the waitress to process it, but since we had a voucher which the waitress don't know how to process it, then he had to come and talk to us to process the payment with so much hesitation to even talk to us a few words. We were feeling so avoided by that manager. Dear Pizza Express, this is not the way the customers are to be treated. We are not untouchables...

Accidentally ordered a vegan pizza 😢

Dropped in here for a pizza before a concert. It's Pizza Express so let's face it, the food is nice but it's a chain and ultimately it's only a step up from Pizza Hut. On that basis, can't knock the food. We were greeted, or should I say not greeted, by their Front of House First Date Fred Wannabee who does not have the skills to greet potential cashflow into the business. We weren't met with a 'Good Evening etc etc', instead we got 'Do you have a reservation' and 'we've only got that table there'. Felt like Poor Man's Fred thought he was doing us a favour. As this table was right near the entrance we sampled Fred's behaviour towards every customer, and sure enough he's consistent. The table layout was awful; they've crammed too many tables in for the area. Twice we had to stand while our table was rearranged to allow wheelchairs to pass, and numerous times we were banged into. And lastly, the lad taking our order didn't know the pizzas on the menu he was serving very well; it was more 'here's your list, take your choice'. Should have tried the chinese next door instead.

Love, love LOVE those restaurant. Aside from great pizza next to the Leeds arena it was great service and food. Hoĺy served us and was particularly great.

Diana is wonderful. Came for some food before a gig with my mum, a friend and her fella then joined us and Diana was wonderfully accommodating, friendly and her service had been excellent. Big up this gal for getting us an extra glass to prop up my phone to watch the rugby 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

Arrived feeling tired and hungry after a day moving into White Rose View. Left feeling full and refreshed. Pizza was quick and delicious. We were served by Hollie. So friendly, helpful and genuine! Felt that she really took time to look after us. Would definitely go again.

From start to finish our experience was excellent in every way. Shout out to Mark for giving us a table at the last minute, As it was very busy due to the Peter Kay gig, Massive thank you to Amy our waitress who looked after us so well.

As a family we never really stray too much away from our usual order…. Carbonara pizza, pollo ad Astra, American hot, dough balls, lemon herb chicken wings…. Yet to have a bad experience here at pizza express… situated near the first direct arena this restaurant is ideally located if you’re heading to a show.. surrounded by several restaurants there really is too much choice… like I said we don’t stray too far so this place is a good option, the service is usually great too, it’s not overly busy but I’d still recommend you book….

We came here on Sunday during Pride, a little out of the centre so we got to escape the crowd, we were served by Courtney who was the most smiley waitress I have been served by in many years. Food was excellent. I ordered a Rustichella, not on the menu anymore (basically a crime against pizza as it is truly sublime). Place was clean and service was fast.

We were attending a three day convention at Leeds Arena and booked a table on the Saturday evening. It was extremely busy but Mark checked us in and found us a table in the window. Mark and the waitress (sorry dont know name) were very attentive and helpful. The food was good and the puddings were gorgeous. All the staff were friendly and we had a very nice, relaxing meal. We didnt feel rushed in any way despite how busy they were and would recommend this Pizza Express. We will be back next year. Thanks to all staff.

Visited Pizza Express during a busy evening due to an event taking place at the nearby arena. Food excellent, staff although very busy, were exceptional and coped so well. Enjoyed it so much, went again the following evening.

Cramped in like sardines, very unorganised, front of house, bossy and telling customers he was giving them the last table as hadn’t booked. Wrong starter came out. Then meal. Given the next tables bill, then had to explain as ours was paid by a different table, asking the Uber eats drivers to leave the restaurant and wait outside, waitresses pushing into you as it’s so cramped. Never again,!

The food was very nice the were friendly, but especially to the girl that served me, I told her it was a delivery to the hospital for my son, who's operation had been cancelled at the last minute and he was starving. She put a little note on the box saying "get well soon :))" That was so nice, thank you. The little things mean a lot ❤️

Still as good as when it opened! Best Pizza Express venue and food (cooked to perfection, clean ie no onion and garlic where it shouldn't be) we have yet come across. Super friendly, but not intrusive, staff. Sweet booths and cute bar. Deserves to be busier!

I have no idea what the issue was, perhaps it was becuase I asked nicely if it would be possible to have the food hot. The food wasn't cold, it was chilled. For the first time I advised that I tip, that was a mistake. I won't make it again.
