Pizza Express in Cardiff

Our waitress Ańh was absolutely amazing!! Very speedy and efficient! She was really helpful and gave us great advice!! We think she deserves a glass of Prosecco (or more) for being so amazing! Thank you!!

INCREDIBLE service today by Kavita Booked a quick meal, which was absolutely delicious thanks to our server Kavita who, despite being new to the team did an excellent job guiding us through the menus for a gluten free dining experience. Food was incredible, the honey dough balls were to die for! And the panda (with extra chicken) was just *chefs kiss*. We visit quite regularly but this was such a disappointing experience. Very slow service given that the restaurant was half empty but the waiter serving us was quite hostile when we asked for additional plates for our starters. Made us feel like we were inconveniencing him. Same thing happened when we asked for the bill? Strange experience but seem to be a lot of new staff so that could explain why.

I have to say I'm a regular at this branch of Pizza Express in Cardiff which is situated in St David's 2 Arcade. The Pizza is always fantastic and the Peroni is always ice cold. The Staff are very friendly and welcoming and are a credit to the Pizza Express brand. I look forward to many more Pizza's (and Peroni's) at this branch of Pizza Express.

I visited pizza express Cardiff in October and I couldn’t fault the food or staff but we sat upstairs next to the glass screen and I couldn’t get over how dirty it was. It had dried food on it and clearly hadn’t been cleaned for a long time. I visited again today (28/12/22) and the glass was still filthy. Food was delicious and the gentleman that served us was fab but the cleanliness of this restaurant really needs to be addressed. I’ve had many lovely meals with the family in pizza express over the years though so this is the only fault I have but really isn’t nice sitting next to this.

Tried this branch for the first time and a reasonably positive experience. Good food, particularly the new Carbonara pizza, although prices are definitely starting to creep up with a sharing portion of doughballs now nearly £10. Service was quick but the staff seemed a little indifferent.

Ordered for delivery, uncut pizza toppings missing, don't waste your time there are far better options that at least try in Cardiff, 1st and last time I will use pizza express

This is my favourite Pizza Express. Not just because the food is consistently good but the staff are very friendly and welcoming. Nothing is to much trouble. My Pizza today was initially a little mild but added Jalapeños turbo charged it. The Peroni was as always excellent. I look forward to popping in again soon.

We went for pizza pre show at the arena only to find out it was cancelled last minute. Staff were really kind I think it was the manager offered us a drink and the waitress that served us was really nice and helpful

We were shown to a table upstairs which was very quiet compared to downstairs, upon trying to check in with my pizzaexpress app, our table number did not exist. Sadly the help recieved by the member of staff didn't work either. We ordered our food promptly and recieved our drinks however we waited 45 minutes for our food which is unacceptable and to top it off, apparently our order got missed, why?! We eventually got our food which was OK. The pasta dish my partner had was hard but my pizza was fine. We were worried to order dessert as we were going to a show at the arena (and of the time it took to serve our mains) so when the waitress asked if we wanted anything else, we mentioned how long it would take to get the desserts as we had waited a while for our mains but sadly she misunderstood what we were saying and was very taken a back. When I asked for the bill she was very quiet and when we left she completely ignored us. Sorry pizzaexpress but sadly this was not an enjoyable visit compared to your other establishments.

Rugby international day - the restaurant was extremely busy and the member of staff who should have been serving us seemed to have gone AWOL, however the waiter that we asked for drinks was lovely and took over serving us for the rest of our visit. The menu has changed since our last (pre-covid) visit with some nice new additions, Our food was all very tasty, piping hot and arrived quickly once we’d ordered. The restaurant itself is looking tired - lots of split fabric on some of the bench seats which has been ‘repaired’ with parcel tape. It’s not a good look. We had a voucher for free starters which was easy to apply to the bill.

not been for a while and stopped in St Davids , sat with no issues and met by a happy team . Waitress attended and was lovely , I ordered the Calzone and my wife one of the new burnt ends Pizzas. Both were lovely , the Calzone might become my fave pizza. Good service ,good food good value served in timely manner , nothing else you could ask for

Visited today with my daughter and friend. Fast, efficient, friendly service. Food was delicious. There was a problem with a voucher I had, the manager was helpful and went above and beyond to sort it out. Very patient as by this time the restaurant was very busy. Would return again.

Really disappointed as we do love our trips to pizza express and have even had a party there before. We visited the pizza express in st David’s centre, Cardiff. It didn’t look, on first appearance as nice as the other, more up to date pizza express restaurants. We were shown to our table and the children had to sit on a blanket, presumably because the bench style seats were so worn, you could see this in other places too. Once the waiter had got our drinks, the main course took a while to arrive. Not ages, but the food in itself was fine. After eating the main course we waited approximately 25 mins until someone came over, and that was only because my husband flagged someone down! The lady then said, I’ll just do someone else’s drinks and then come back... She did come back but took the dessert orders and still didn’t clear the tables. Also, my daughter asked for a box to put her, now very cold, pizza in. This didn’t arrive until much later. It took them realising that they’d need to clear the plates before there’d be room to serve desserts before actually doing so. While we were there five tables were sat inside and two outside, so it wasn’t that busy. The waiters were experts at avoiding eye contact! Well we will come to pizza express again but definitely not this one. Waiter didn’t wear a face mask.

What you would expect from a Pizza Express - reasonable prices and good food. Good gluten-free selection including beer and desserts. We booked for 1330 so that we missed the worst of the lunch hour rush. Staff were friendly and helpful. Good location for anyone visiting Cardiff for shopping.

We arrived only to be greeted by a waiter (tanned complexion, wearing black glasses) who was casually stood in front of us on his phone for around a minute, which we did not approve of. He just laughed at us and showed us to our table, chucked the menus on the table (quite literally) and left. The new server (the one who brought us our food) tried his best but kept us waiting for around 15 mins after we had finished our mains before we could order our dessert. The food was bland and overpriced for the quality it came to the table in.Definitely will not be visiting again - complete lack of care for customer service. Such a shame that this was a 21st birthday celebration meal.

Was served by Lauren and was a group of 8. Some people where late and we were not the best as took ages to make up mind on food.Saying that the staff were really patient and hardworking, friendly and made the night. Lauren the waitress did a really lovely surprise cake with icing sugar which was great. Definitely coming here again!

Not a review of the food it’s basically the same wherever you go in my experience. (Food is usually 3/5 - pizza made without love or quality materials.) Essentially you go for the convenience and easy to eat food for the kids. We had the misfortune of getting the nazi greeter (an older lady with glasses with an Italian accent?). Firstly she left us waiting an age outside when there was an empty restaurant. Eventually we sat ourselves down in some of the outside seats and got ourselves comfortable. Cue nazi greeter - no we can’t sit there must sit inside. Why? Must leave them for people with wheelchairs or prams due to access. Ok we moved inside. So what happens next -another family rock up without said wheelchair/ pram and sit in the seats we’d just vacated. That annoyed me and I would have left if the food hadn’t already arrived. On the plus side the waiting staff were good and attentive and I tipped them accordingly. I wouldn’t go back to that PE restaurant based on the front of house experience.

We have always put pizza places in the same category really children mad places however this place was more of an Italian, great food great drinks, great service. We really enjoyed and would definitely go back again 5 stars

We went to this place on yesterday's night and it was absolutely worth it. Food was great, we really enjoyed all dishes, but what we have to mention as well is service. Our waitress was Bianca. She couldn't do more for us, so helpful and super kind person with really good energy. Absolutely best waitress we've seen in long time. Definitely coming back. :)

Dined here before a gig at the Motorpoint Arena across the road, and received a warm welcome from the moment we stepped in the door.Staff were friendly and efficient, and the food was well up to standard (we use Pizza Express a lot all over the country, and the quality does vary slightly).If you are thinking of eating here, note the restaurant is actually upstairs in the shopping centre, just at the top of the escalators near the Motorpoint Arena end.

Great pizza and tasty gluten free pizza also. Really useful offer on main courses for 5 pounds. Really good value and really good service as always.

We visited here before a concert for a late lunch.Restaurant was clean and we were seated quickly, the server was very friendly (a blonde lady).Food came quickly to the table and it was lovely and fresh, the merlot was also very nice.Dishes were quickly cleared and our mains served quickly after.The restaurant started to get a bit busier so we were waiting to be offered the dessert menu for good while, in the end we had to ask for it and they brought it straight over.The salted caramel gelato was very nice, the best salted caramel ice cream Ive ever had.Little bit pricy but we were using Tesco vouchers so it took a big chunk of the bill off. Would highly recommend.

We visited Pizza Express today as we had a gift card for £20 to use before it expired. The place was busy so we had high expectations. The menu was quite limited. There wasn't a lot to choose from. I must say the Garlic doughballs with the 3 dips were outstanding.We had 4 pizzas between us which were nothing special but ok. My son's Margarita was the tastiest out of the lot. My daughter's base was quite soggy in the middle. The drinks were of good quality however pricey.The service was excellentThe bill was astronomical. In total 4 pizzas, 5 drinks, one doughballs to share came to £65.00. I don't mind paying if the food is outstanding but I have had better pizzas from dominoes or any supermarket and they are a lot cheaper.In future I will be sticking with Prezzo's, which is next door. I have always had good food from them.

We booked our table prior to our visit as we wanted to ensure we had plenty of time to eat before seeing Micky Flanagan later in the evening.Just as well we had because when we arrived there was a large queue outside!We were about 20 mins early for our table yet we were quickly seated without any problem.Our server was friendly and very attentive to us, in fact all the staff within this establishment were extremely friendly and smiled as they went past our table.Even though it was a busy time, we weren’t at all rushed and our meals came to us piping hot and delicious!We had a lovely visit and will definitely book again when next in Cardiff.

Friendly and prompt service. Reasonable price for what was a warmed banana muffin and a cappuccino. Lovely cosy atmosphere. Those other coffee places get too busy ànd noisy for me.

Pretty much what you'd expect from Pizza Express - decent food and pleasant staff.For what it's worth I prefer the one on the High Street, just near the castle - maybe I'm just more familiar with it, can't put my finger on why.One possibly useful tip - if you're looking for baby changing facilities, it's in the disabled toilet on the ground/main floor of the restaurant, behind/beyond the kitchen area (the rest of the toilets are upstairs).

I visited Pizza Express at St David’s during lunch time. The waiter was very attentive, he sat us at our seats quickly and took our drinks order whilst we looked at the menu. All of us had a thin and crispy pizza, the Padana and the Sloppy Giuseppe being our favourites! They were delicious! We used our Tesco’s vouchers to pay part of our meal which was a very simple process. As an Italian, I have eaten in many “Italian” eateries in South Wales but I must say the nearest pizza to an authentic one from Italy has to be here! I would highly recommend!

Called in this week for lunch as we had an email offer giving us discount and we were looking for something to eat prior to seeing a comedian. We have eaten in a number of Pizza Express restaurants and this was up there with the best.Nothing was too much trouble for Pawel our waiter, he was very friendly, proficient and professional.We upgraded and had 2 Romano pizzas, along with olives to share. The food was really good, the pizza was extra thin as I requested too. Highly recommended and would definitely return.
