Pizza Express in Rushcliffe

Had takeaway delivered, Pizza wasn’t bad, wasn’t cut and toppings a bit on the light side, but is this really what you call a portion of chips? Cold, burnt and barely covering the bottom of the box! Won’t be ordering again

Daughter who is 5 is coeliac and it’s her favorite restaurant. The whole menu has gluten-free alternatives, which is lovely!

Having avoided this restaurant for several years after a series of, to put it mildly, disappointing experiences, my ancient father and I went last night. My dad asked to move tables on four occasions as the aircon was ‘freezing’ him. Not once was this an issue and our server, Sienna (I think), was utterly delightful as was the food. Clearly understaffed to the point that they’ll always get the awful reviews that they do but, that aside, I highly recommend a visit.

I've been here twice. My first experience was terrible; we waited for an hour. During my second visit, despite there being empty tables, we were told that since we were only two people, we could only sit at a table for two. The level of professionalism is appalling. It's unbefitting of a brand like this to impose such rules just to make a little extra money. There's no solution offered. Trying to seat people just 5 cm away from strangers to add a couple more tables is utterly ridiculous.

I recently visited and was extremely disappointed with the service. We had to wait nearly an hour just to get our pizza, which is far too long for any restaurant. To make matters worse, the staff was unfriendly and unaccommodating. We requested a specific table, but they refused without a valid reason and were quite rude about it. The overall experience was frustrating, and I would not recommend this place if you value good service and a welcoming atmosphere.

Absolutely awful service. I took my 3 young nephews at lunchtime, having booked a table. The service was dreadful. It was a long time before anyone served us, and then another 50 minutes before the food turned up. The staff were very rude, no apology or anything. The restaurant was half empty too. I ordered a chicken Caesar salad that was more or less a bowl of iceberg lettuce and a few bits of chicken. Extortionate prices as well! Definitely won’t be going back!

Seated outside, table not clean. Then forgotten about for about 15 minutes until I went inside to ask if we could order, also asked what I took to be the manager (male , floral shirt) for the table to be wiped. Order eventually taken but table still not wiped. Drinks bought but missing a drink and only one water glass provided so went inside again to chase up. Asked again for table to be wiped. Starters bought. Hot honey doughballs soggy and mean portion. Table still not wiped. Went inside again as no napkins or cutlery! Asked again about table being cleaned and apologised for being a nuisance (so British! 😂). Napkins bought but table not wiped. Perhaps they had run out of cloths?! Pizzas when they came were very nice. To top off the whole disastrous visit we then had a whole load of hassle with our bill. Wouldn’t allow us the free doughballs that my daughters pizza express rewards had given us,also wouldn’t give us the 25% off for uni days. This was because we wanted to part pay using Tesco vouchers which seems nonsense to me. Then when they took the vouchers they couldn’t get them to scan and accused me of using them previously! In fact, I’d only got them that morning. After a lot of backwards and forwards they eventually got their handset to work and my vouchers went through fine. No apology for this or for all the delays and poor service. I normally tip very generously and this is the first time in years I have felt compelled not to leave anything at all. So disappointed. This was supposed to be a nice treat for my daughter and her friend after a long hot day of moving house and we all ended up feeling stressed and let down. I used to use pizza Express a lot and the service was always excellent, and justified the slightly higher prices. Not anymore it seems! We won’t be back (which is a shame, as my daughter has moved in just around the corner!)

unfortunately i usually have no problems with this particular restaurant however i had to say something about the experience we had recently, firstly many of the dishes on the menu are not described properly and have aspects missing. e.g caesar salad with no croutons. additionally we ended up waiting over an hour just to order food.. which then took around 40 minutes to be served. lastly a cappuccino we ordered, we didn’t end up even getting due to the server forgetting until after we had the bill. sadly i think the restaurant has gone down hill however i would still be inclined to return because of the good food.

Un-friendly / unwelcoming hostess at the door! The food was clearly thrown together in a rush - cold and flavourless. It truly felt like the restaurant couldn’t handle the capacity of people it had in! Only silver lining of the evening was our wonderful waitress, who was running around like a busy bee, yet remained extremely friendly and attentive. Shame to have spent what we did on the meal - do better!

Great location with free parking nearby after 8pm. Very helpful and friendly staff, nice ambience with the lighting inside, food very tasty. Staff went above and beyond to help use the vouchers we had. Definitely recommend for the staffing that were on tonight .

Really nice place with delicious food. The food was excellent. We ordered Margherita pizza, Pollo ad Astra, Zucchini Linguine, Carbonara, and salad. All the dishes were amazing, each with its own unique flavor. It's better to book a table online as it gets crowded on weekends

Waited 20 minutes on the table, the waitress saw us a few times but just ignored us. Asked for the menu and gave to us with a cold face, and many food options unavailable. Very unhappy experience.

The food was absolutely delicious and they made a special no tomato pizza for my little one, which he said was amazing! Unfortunately, they said they had no pasta so some of the dishes were not available which was disappointing but we all found something we enjoyed. The new mushroom arancini starter was so good and my husband really enjoyed the hot and honey dough balls. The service was great and we paid on the app which sped things up. We had a lovely evening.

It's a Pizza Express, so great quality food goes without saying. It's a nice quiet spot where it's easy to relax and enjoy the food and drink. Handy little carpark just over the road, 2 minute walk.

I had family come up to visit. We decided pizza express was a good choice for the kids, and we weren't disappointed they were accommodating with our wild kids! Also, the waitress karis was very welcoming and attentive she was lovely and made our evening very pleasant.

The service from start to finish was brilliant and they even understand with 4 kids ages 9 and 7. Karis was lovely and helpful with menu options and keeping the drinks flowing.

I had a birthday meal with my grandma. We had a mushroom pizza and a starter which was arancini which was rice balls with mushrooms inside. Then I had one of my favourite desserts which is Honeycomb Cheesecake but they didn't have any pouring cream which is silly these days. Every restaurant that I know has cream so I think Pizza Express need to up their game a bit.

The restaurant itself is lovely, and I had excellent service from Carys! The Nduja doughballs are amazing, really recommend for service, speed, and food quality!

8 of us for a birthday lunch celebrating my nephew who is 10! Our waiter was just the right amount of attentive, very helpful and had the right banter with us. The food was delicious, fresh, hot and almost perfect - one of us ordered the calamari and sadly it was not cooked properly. Apologies made and bill corrected instantly - they were also very accommodating of the table confetti, balloon and donut cake lol …. Perfect for what we wanted I would recommend the BBQ Chicken Pizza and the Calzone !

As a Family of four, our food came out at completely different times, when one pizza arrived it was burnt, and when the other did it was a little undercooked. Our kids meals took an age to come. We were in there for over two hours all told. Table staff were friendly and apologetic enough, but at the end of the day the place is meant to be tooled up to make good pizzas, reasonably fast and at a decent price. I'm not sure they can claim any one of those three based on our experience, which isn't a one off which is why I'm leaving this review, hopefully things will improve, it used to be much better.

Disgusted! Dirty cutlery dirty drinking glasses re set with clean cutlery mixed in. Served a peice of cardboard cold bread with small amount of topping. Then after we used our love to shop cards, they said they weren't working said they had an issue with our table so loud, everyone looked!!!! Humiliated beyond words. Then we arrive home after being told the meal was on them, and they've took the payment!!!! Wow. Avoid avoid avoid and please ....to the manager, don't copy and paste the response to this bad review like you have all the others.

Awful service. Arrived 75 minutes before last orders and was asked to wait for a table despite the restaurant having under 10% occupancy. Many tables weren’t cleared. Plenty of front of house staff stood around chatting or being very helpful to food delivery service riders who of course were all cutting the queue which the staff were ignoring. After waiting five minutes was told they could seat us but the kitchen had already closed more than an hour early. Apparently not a problem if you drive for Deliveroo or Uber Eats. Unhelpful staff were rude and arrogant and unhelpful. The situation could have been handled so much more sympathetically. Pretty typical of the customer service at this branch

Went as part of a group for a Christmas meal. Good selection to choose from on the menu. The waiter was very attentive.

We had a delivery of 2 Romana pizzas and sides. Pizzas were cold and was like chewing on the food cartons they came in. Really disappointed as I've always dined in and always enjoyed it. Wouldn't order delivery again. Sides were nice.

Why can’t they just get it right? We used to love taking are kids here. Now, it’s so badly managed, dirty tables, unorganised, unfriendly. There really isn’t any excuse. Lots of options now in west Bridgford so I would give this place a miss.

A lovely meal with great service. Very efficient and quick service in between meals. Overheard another table saying you can use a Tesco vouchers here, so checked mine and got £10 off out meal. A nice evening out

Ordered takeaway from them at 8.50pm through JustEat, got an ‘order confirmed’ email straight after. At 9.20pm received a text to say the restaurant has cancelled your order. Tried calling twice but couldn’t get through to speak to anyone. Why accept orders in the first place if you’re too busy, and then cancel them 30 mins later?

The staff was great, The food and drinks were excellent, and they were reasonably priced. The service was prompt, with both food delivery and staff attentiveness being swift.

We were one of the few customers on a week day evening. Many ingredients were missing from the menu: olives, eggs etc so almost all salads were affected. Pasta for our little one arrived burnt and also with cream, instead of plain basta with tomatoes as we asked and usually had. The portion was for a 2 year old not 5 year old (see photo). The excuse was that they only have pasta with cream, which is not even in the menu. The salad was like taken straight from a bag and put on a plate. And it took ages to be served food like this. Bathrooms were not in good conditions either with floating objects…. Rocket was substituted with spinach and a single one was found and soggy… Not great experience.

Tables were far to close together. I ordered a pizza with a salad in the middle which somehow ended up being more expensive than another person in my party's whole pizza, I must add that my 'salad' consisted solely of spinach and rocket, it was tragic... I haven't eaten at pizza express in years and my prior memories were always fond but this experience put me off ever going back.

The staff here are great, vinny who served us was fantastic and we really enjoyed our meal here. We had an issue with the bill but was dealt with which we really appreciated! Would definitely return!

Like other comments we hadn’t made a booking and the look you get at the door just says it all! We were sat upstairs, slow service and food wasn’t very warm, lots of new untrained staff doing the waiting on tables, our food went round 3 times before coming to us! Mains arrived before starters had been finished or cleared so no apology! A nice modern restaurant such a shame the staff and service let it down! On leaving the staff were all stood at the door chatting, not 1 said good bye or even lifted their heads up!

Service is diabolical, ordered drinks that took 20 mins to arrive, over an hour later our food had not even been cooked.We finally got to speak to a member of staff and said she couldn’t give us a time our food would be ready.We said we would pay for our drinks and go,her reply was just go no need to pay for you drinks. We left with no apology or explanation has to why it was taking a long time to do the pizzas. We did see lots of delivery drivers picking up food,maybe that’s more important than sitting in customers...

My family have always enjoyed coming to pizza express and the food and staff continue to be great! We did notice however that the portion sizes are decreasing as the prices increase which doesn’t seem like it’s value for money anymore.

Clearly Pizza Express West Bridgford don’t need the custom at the moment otherwise they wouldn’t feel the need to blatantly lie to walk in custom. Apparently at 2.10pm on Saturday despite having numerous empty tables they were unable to accommodate us because they were about to have lots of people arrive who were later going to see Notts Forest after eating….the Forest fans kicked off at 3pm so frankly this was not true and they remained empty for the rest of the afternoon….there is plenty of choice in Bridgford so you could snd should go better Pizza Express. I’ll choose elsewhere in future.

Great food and service but, I was told that due to a notice from head office I was no longer allowed to have brown anchovies on my pizza. Why is that the case now when I’ve had them dozens of times before? It did spoil my experience as I would have gladly given 5 stars otherwise.

So we thought we'd start with cocktails... Negroni comes out of a bottle of pre-mix that doesn't contain any discernible amounts of either Campari (the main event in a Negroni) or gin despite these ingredient being listed on the menu. Just a nasty Martini Rosso with a bit of orange peel and loads of ice. Next... cool pizza with a soft, unpleasant base - it was supposed to be a 'Romano', ie thin and crispy and VERY over-priced Finally the 'americano' - thin, luke warm and tasteless. Won't be back

Slow service, had to ask for the bill a few times, waitresses seemed clueless. Expensive. £3.25 for a coke, prices of food also high and portion size reduced. Food quality poor. Will never be returning to this branch and any other pizza express.

Top tip... if you download the pizza express app before you arrive you can get a free portion of adult dough balls, 1/3rd off some pizzas and some other pizza related goodies, I saved £11 using the app on this trip alone. I booked online, and I'm glad I did because it was busy for 6pm, we ordered two childrens meals and two adults pizzas. The starters and mains came quickly but the desserts seemed to take ages, we didn't leave until 8.15 and we are not slow eaters. The staff were lovely and friendly and our server had the best nails. So, for the food.. We had dough balls (of course) and they were delicious, I can't remember how many is in a portion because we ate them so fast. The new kids ice cream sandwich was a real hit with my 8 year old, she could have probably eaten two of them it was so tasty. I had the prawn low cal pizza, I can't remember it's name but it's the one with the salad in the middle. It was nice and tasty and I was full before I'd finished the pizza but that was probably due to the free dough balls I ate before the main came (there's no calories in free food, right?).

Annual visit for our festive pizza on Christmas Eve. Yet again, we were not disappointed. Food was excellent and the festive pizza was delicious. Looking forward to what next year's will be.
