Extremely slow service, side dishes missing, pizza cold, pasta side dish drowning in oil. Manager didn't seem to care, staff very young and inexperienced. This combined with a terrible droning noise from the kitchen extraction made it terrible overall and still cost £60 for lunch for 2.

Really good food, quality food, and really plenty gluten-free choices. Bit expensive but if you got the app you get some nice offers

If you have a good few hours spare to wait around for an above average pizza then this is the place for you. If you actually want to be served within 1.5 hours then please do not pick here. The staff must have some sort of neck issue as they all walk around staring at the floor avoiding customers. I mean I want to say it’s a tactic to make me spend more money on drinks but I’m two hours and 10 minutes in and I’ve finally managed to flag a staff member down to get a drink before I dehydrate. Please someone send help as I might be here for the next few days waiting to pay the bill.

Advertised as 30 minutes to deliver. Order took an hour and 35 minutes. Food was stone cold, the quality was absolutely shocking. Potatoes weren’t burnt. Pizza base was like cardboard. Absolutely abysmal quality of food and incredibly disappointing. Would avoid.

We went to a birthday party here last night 13th September it was fantastic. Food was amazing, the whole process of making your own pizza so much fun and the staff member who was with us was outstanding!!!! Made everyone feel involved

Arrived and was told 45min wait for food despite restaurant being less than half full. Took 1hr 20 before food arrived. Got the impression that take away orders were being prioritised. There is a constant dull hum from the oven fans that reverberates through the whole restaurant that you can feel in your chest and have to talk over. Not a pleasant experience despite food being ok

We waited an hour for our food. The management were rude. I don't recommend it at all.

This is my first time leaving a review and all I can say is don’t come here. My friend and I got here around 6:30 and were put on a table in the corner. The only issue with this table was that we were seemingly invisible to staff. It took staff half an hour to take our order and another 30 minutes for our starters. The free dough balls we got were nice. A member of staff offered to show us how to put the free dough balls into our bill then disappeared. Then it took another hour for our pizzas. The pizzas were good but not anything special. Once we’d finished it took another half an hour for us to ask for the bill. Once we got the bill we were shocked to see we were charged for the dough balls. Once we explained to the staff we managed to put them through and paid and finally left 2 and half hours later

Dark and dingy resteraunt, service is atrocious, incredibly slow and you'll be lucky if you see your server more than once. Food comes out at completley different times or they forget part of your order. £74 for 4 drinks, 2 adult pizzas, two kids pizzas and dough balls made me cry. Won't be going back and deffinalty wouldn't recommend.

There is a lot to unpack here. 1. Cost: being charged over £3.50 for a can of Fanta is insane to me. 2. Cost: paying £50 for 2 pizzas, 2 cans of pop and 2 apple juices is very high 3. The wait for food was ridiculous, around 45minutes after ordering. 3.1 we were not informed that the wait was was so long else we would have reconsidered. 4. Pizza: paying what we did for the pizza we expected higher quality and more toppings. 5. We had the free dough balls (normal price was over £5), we are glad we got them for free as they were okay but not that good. Overall: very expensive, mediocre food, wait times were insane and the compete lack of information resulted in us deciding never to go back. Oh and also, as we left, there was a lot of very angry looking customers sat there with no food. Not just us.

Appaling service. We were stood waiting to be seated with no acknowledgment from the staff, took ages to take our order and the food arrived 1 1/2 hours later! When it did arrive the food was nothing outstanding. The only positive was the young waitress who was very friendly and kept apologising for our wait!! There were 3 chefs in the kitchen who worked constantly and there was a party of 12 in the restaurant but I think the chefs were busy taking care of the endless delivery drivers taking food out! Not a great experience at all!

The pizza was lovely and really tasty. The only thing I will say is the garlic bread isn’t for the faint hearted. I love garlic but there was way too much additional on top of the bread. I had a look after I realised how strong it was and each piece had at least a teaspoon of minced garlic on top- there’s no need for so much! Actually burnt my mouth

I don't eat out often so it matters when I do - it's a treat !! Pre booked with a party of 10 for my birthday- arrived to be told it would be a 40 minutes wait for food - fair enough' took our drinks and starter order - at 6.45 - 8.30 pm we eventually got our very sub standard food. Mine was the caniloni- which actually turned out to be four, inch long pasta tubes with ricotta in floating in a tomato/ cheese sauce and served in a badly chipped dish - I was handed a knife and fork and when I pointed out I couldn't use a fork to eat soup I was advised caniloni was a sauce dish - well it's not- it's a dish with a sauce not a sauce with a dish (chipped or not) I was handed a spoon - honestly it was cheesy tomato soup which you had to go fish for pasta - that was £15 !! Friends carbonara- don't even ask !! Could have bounced that off the floor - well the bits that didn't break your teeth anyway - the table favourite was the rocket salad served with cheese and dressing £5.45 - basically a bag of rocket in a bowl with some slimy dressing in the middle - no cheese to be seen No seasoning, no taste but then we had been there so long we had started to eye each other up to see who would taste best- now we all have bad days in the kitchen so the quality of the food was disappointing but hey ho The time it took the food to get to us was unbelievable- like- unbelievable The cost of the food compared to quality of the food is nothing short of daylight robbery (or by the time we got it, nighttime robbery) All of these things can be put down to a bad day at the office so to speak but what I can't get my head around is the appalling customer services??? If you know a party of 12 have come to celebrate a birthday (and believe me we were there to have 3 courses and drinks) you would have thought it financially prudent to keep us well watered and fed right ?? Wrong- having been seated at 6.30 and drinks given that was it - not once did a server come and ask us if we wanted another drink (it wasn't busy) so a half a larger is all I had from 6.30 till 9pm - One of our party complained and was told to ask for the manager - the manager never came to our table but sent his server to sort it - not once did anyone come and apologise for our wait, offer us more drinks (not free drinks , just a drink) was offered 40% off the bill but that's a standard in app offer anyway I dis ask the server if our wait had been due to an unusually busy night but she said not it's just how long it takes to cook for qw - WE HAD 6 PIZZAS AND 6 PASTA DISHES AND A PRE BOOKED TABLE not sure of there kitchen setup but some staff training may be needed if you can't figure how to do that and the pizza was cold anyway 😀 All in all- horrible end to my birthday, expensive food that took and hour and a half to make it to the table and very poor customer service I did wonder if it would have arrived quicker if we had sat in the restaurant and ubered it to ourselves Very disappointing experience - but do go yourself and try it - it may have just been an off day - we all have them Emailed manager as requested on the review only to be ignored again...honestly couldn't make it up !@

Had two visits recently. Tble of 5 and a 6. Food outstanding as usual but the quality of the welcome is second to none. Staff are switched on obliging and friendly. A great place to go and so conevenient. Well done!! Guy Begent.

One pizza under cooked the other over cooked very crispy black bits on the base almost like forgot to cook one and forgot the other was in the oven.. very sparse with toppings

Great food and service in a nice environment with free and easy parking. Nadia or server was the icing on the cake, she was perfect, friendly attentive and knowledgeable. Great night and enjoyed all 3 courses. Well done all 👍

Food was OK. The pizza pretty much come on a tortilla bread but the utensils are blunt as hell pizza cutter couldn't cut through butter and the knives ain't much better. At the prices the standards must be higher I don't want a challenge while eating out

I go to a lot of Pizza Express branches, and I am not just a foodie but a pizza connoisseur! This branch is okay, but as others have said it's a bit gloomy and the atmosphere could be better. More importantly, the pizza. The quality is pretty much standard, but there is always some variance between the branches, and this one doesn't do quite as well as Derby on the Calabrese or other Romana pizzas. I think the chefs are not quite en-par with the better branches here in rottingham.

Had a brilliant team event here. Shan ( our waitress ) was amazing!!! Nothing was to much trouble and was so bubbly throughout the night. Would definitely go back again.

The restaurant was freezing cold, we asked for some heating but the request was ignored. It took over an hour for the pizzas to arrive, we were a party of 12 so expected a bit of a wait but that was excessive. The young girl totally messed up the bill and we ended up paying £30 more than we should, luckily they refunded it.

The food was very nice and quite filling, however i think we should have more options for sides like cheese doe balls, small garlic bread, ect and the pizza base was a little bit thicker but overall a very nice and filling meal for the price and i would order again.

I'd give zero stars if I could, given one of the meals ordered didn't turn up. It's poor taste to blame deliveroo - they delivered what you provided, YOU didn't provide the good ordered. No apology, no accountability which is really poor practice. If you make an error (how you can piece a whole dish bemuses me though), own it.

I took a group of Teenage and Young Adult patients on a Teenage Cancer Trust peer support event to Pizza express Giltbrook. They very kindly gifted us some places for the pizza making workshop which we all thoroughly enjoyed. The staff were extremely attentive and couldn't do enough for us, they delivered a fantastic workshop where we learnt how to shape the base of the pizza and then were able to fill it with all our favourite toppings. The menu included dough balls, pizza and a dessert which was a great deal. The young people had an amazing time and it gave them a chance to enjoy themselves, have a laugh and some fun all whilst enjoying some tasty pizza. Thanks again for an amazing evening, would definitely recommend to others!

If i could give no stars at all i really would. Probably one of the worst restaurant services I've had my ENTIRE life! We went in after shopping at Ikea 5 adults, 1 child and 1 toddler. The child and toddler were very hungry, luckily we had some home food to hand. We went in, sat down, looked at the vegan menu and ordered after 5 minutes. We received a jug of water and 6 glasses as requested. We ordered 4 mains, 3 starters. Only of which 2 starters arrived after 10 minutes of waiting. Another 10 minutes went by (nearly 30 minutes went by since we arrived) only to be told our order (which was forgotten about by the staff) would take another 15 minutes! By this time, 2 families near our table had come in, ordered and eaten their meal and were ready to leave. We hadn't had our 3rd starter (which was for the kids) or any of the mains. We requested we got something as the kids were hungry - the staff member said the dough balls can be done quick so she would get them sorted. 10 minutes went by and no sign of the dough balls. The whole services was shambles and absolutely appaling. By this time the kids were very agitated. No apology received either. At least have some empathy towards hungry kids if not the adults. Don't just forget about the order. We rightly walked out and cancelled the order. Very bad service. I'd never think or reccommend anyone visit this place which such service

Came in as a large group on valentines and could not have received better service! Our waitress Nadia was so lovely and attentive making sure we were looked after all evening. Food was delicious and came quickly despite it being busy.

We dined at Pizza Express as a table of 8, on valentine’s day! We were served by the lovely Nadia, who was extremely helpful and smiley! Nadia took great care of us, ensuring all our needs were met and laughing along with us in the process! The food was great and the service was even better! We will be returning and hope to be served by Nadia again the future!

Cheese on toast has far more to offer. Flat, cold, burnt, absolute waste of money & I'm no snob! Like chewing burnt cardboard.

The dough balls & pizza are really good and usually quick service, most times can turn up without booking and get a table if not a huge group. Has salads and some other dishes. I dont like the deserts, taste cheap and out of freezer and defrosted. They appear to be cutting back on the size of the classic pizza and salad, both looked smaller. The pizza express loyalty app is good, get free drink, dough balls and other items depending on status. The table we sat at on our last visit wasn't great due to the ceiling area having spot light directly pointing at one of us from behind, which was then causing a dark shadow across my food, as the lights dimmed in the restaurant, hard to see my meal! The service can be hit / miss, always pleasant, but some ppl dont seem to know what they are doing, which could be caused by a high turnover of staff? Giltbrook pizza express is on a retail park and has lots of parking and shops.

Went here to celebrate a friends birthday. The restaurant was very cold and we had a table in the window which made it even colder. The staff were very friendly and helpful , talking us through the AP which saved us £23.00 off the bill !! We had a combination of starters , all delicious and various Pizza and salads for mains , all cooked beautifully and very tasty. The drinks and food were reasonably priced even before the discount. We will be returning once the warmer weather is here.

Service was slow. Cold half cup of coffee. The pizza chef, jezzzz what a man . One of the best pizzas in the area. Be very careful when making payment. Me and table next to me . Had problems with card payment. I ended up paying twice. For my meal with my mum. Lovely food, excellent service, particularly from Lucy, who was not only attentive, but went above and beyond to keep our two kids entertained with some extra pizza dough and cookie cutters to use like playdough!

Excellent service from the team. Really impressed by how welcoming and attentive they were especially with my 4 year old son who was keen to check out the pizza making and was invited to get involved by the team and roll out some dough and cut his own shapes out. Really appreciated them making it such a nice experience for him, helps so much when going out with our kids. Food was good and we had a lovely family evening out. Thanks

Pizza Express is situated in the middle of the complex making it really accessible whichever shop you visit. The staff are friendly and the service is efficient. We opted for 2 pizzas, dough balls and a dice salad. The food was piping hot and well cooked on the main bit mine was a little burnt on one edge. The restaurant is clean and the tables are not overcrowded but the lighting is poor for reading menus. For our food including a Coke and a latte cafe it came to just over £46. Personally I find this a tad expensive compared to Pizza Hut where the salad bar is included on the price.

The pizza and calamari was cold and they forgot my anchovies on the salad. All in all disappointed

Missing the ‘freebie Friday’ dough balls

One of our favourite places to eat locally. The team working there are all brilliant, and the food is consistently tasty and well presented. Unfortunately we couldn't visit for several months, but when we made it back we were greeted like old friends! Will be back soon.

The pizza was finally delivered (granted it was delivery drivers not Pizza Express themselves), and the pizza was stone cold. I couldn’t finish the pizza as it was hurting my jaw to bite into it… rock hard, dry and cold

Went here on the spare of the moment, nice inside but a little cold. Was asked if I’d download their app for free dough balls, did this. Ordered two pizzas, never eaten here before so a little excited, but finally when they arrived we both was somewhat disappointed, my pizza was garlic prawns, about 8/9 small frozen type prawns that didn’t have the remotest taste of garlic, both bases was under cooked and slightly raw in the middle. Four G&Ts and two pizzas £66 Won’t be going back here in a hurry unfortunately

Lovely little Pizza Express with great food and lovely staff. so happy the Bosco salad is back! Had the salad with dough sticks and a carbonara pizza (not on the menu). Food and experience is always great!

As a fan of Pizza Express. Delivery was late, food was on the verge of being cold. The halloumi bites aren’t worth the £6.75 so don’t bother, everything else was good. Very disappointing for the price.

2 hours to be delivered from time of order

Delivery service from Giltbrook took 2 hours from time of ordering to delivery. First time and last time never again!

We visited on a rainy Saturday afternoon and as expected, the restaurant was very busy. The service was absolutely dreadful and the food took over an hour and a half to arrive. It was very mediocre to say the least. I found one particular member of staff ( possibly the manager) very abrupt and had zero customer service skills. If she is the manager then the staff have no one to lead by example. A good manager & staff team should at the very least be apologising to all the customers who had an unacceptable wait for their food. In hospitality it’s how you handle a situation when things go wrong. Sadly this particular pizza express had a staff team who couldn’t have cared less. This will be our last ever visit. Such a shame!

Poor service, took ages to pay the bill. Food was poor and very pricey £121 for 4 adults and 1 child for a pizza.

This was a fab evening out, the staff are excellent and very child at what they do, the place is clean and the food is truly superb. I cannot fault it at all The manager and staff deserve credit for making this place what it is 10/10

Amazing service! We went for a birthday meal, service was absolutely excellent, food came really quickly and staff efficient, friendly and went above and beyond. Everyone enjoyed their food. First time we have visited the Giltbrook restaurant and we’ll definitely be back.

I was in the area quite late at night after driving over 2 hours in the rain (to collect an IKEA order!) and Pizza Express was one of the only places still open where I could get some food. The team were very accommodating and the takeaway I ordered was prepared quickly (and tasted great too)! They even offered me some ice cold water whilst I waited. Thank you very much, you made my evening :)

Ordered just after 5pm with estimated 40 min wait, food arrived 6.32pm, which meant one person had to go without as they had to go to work. Not good enough considering how much it costs.

Visited on 24.09.23. Service was very slow in terms of having order taken and general attentiveness wasn't great. I had considered going elsewhere but was really hungry. Luckily the food was really nice and some extra staff started later into service which seemed to help. Just generally a bit disorganised and tables not being cleared promptly etc

The food, ambiance was amazing and so was team.

The restaurant itself is very dark and gloomy and could definitely do with a bit of a renovation. We were told on arrival that the wait for food would be about 40 minutes , although this ended up being closer to an hour despite the fact the restaurant was not even half full. There is a really good vegan menu with lots of selection. We ordered the vegan doppio dough ball starter, but halfway through eating it the waitress came back over to check we had ordered the double as what had been brought out to us was apparently just the small portion (pictured). She then returned with the rest of the starter that they had forgotten to give us. The dough balls were nice and hot (about 14 balls in total) with three really nice dips. When the pizzas finally arrived, one was already quite cold but we ate them anyway seeing as we had waited so long. The Padana was delicious and one of my favourites on the menu. The vegan American Hot was quite disappointing not only as it was cold but also would have nice to add a few more vegetables or fresh tomatoes. There was a single tomato and piece of pepper on it which, after asking staff, we were told was to mark the pizza as a vegan meal in the kitchen. We had the cold pizza removed from the bill. Overall it’s a very expensive restaurant despite not being the best experience, however there is a 25% student discount available and a rewards scheme. The staff were friendly and dealt with the issues quickly.

Yet again things were missing from the order. I’ve been charged £2.60 for a can of Pepsi I didn’t receive and £0.75 for a dip I didn’t get.
