Pizza Express in Liverpool

We usually come here for food when visiting L1 however this'll be our last visit. It started when I ordered a large peroni (over £7) and was given a dirty glass to go with it. When I asked for a replacement glass, I waited for 5minutes before reminding the blonde waitress before she snapped at me that she's "on it". Only to come back with yet another dirty glass. I gave up after this point, and just poured my beer into one of the small water glasses. Our starters came soon after which were nice but they then appeared to forget about our mains as we sat around waiting for over 30mins after we finished our starters. Baring in mind this was Tuesday at 3pm, there were about 4 other tables. We then asked another waiter when the food would be ready, and we could see him talking to the waitress and then kitchen staff who we watched shake her head in frustration. The blonde waitress came back to our table and said the food would be ready soon, and the other waiter adjusted our bill to take 25% off which was nice of him. However, at this point we just elected to have the mains and go even though the kids got free ice cream with their food. It was all just too awkward, too unprofessional and the kids were bored and angsty. Won't be returning.

We called 2 days prior and were given a time slot for 19.30 as it seemed to be busy for the earlier times but we booked as usual for any food place. we then arrived at half 7 on a saturday night and were told that our booking "hadn't gone through" as their phone booking system doesn't directly transfer the information apparently. so not only were we left without a place to eat on a saturday when every other restaurant was fully booked as you can imagine, we also felt quite patronised by the way we were treated and spoken to. there seemed to be no solution from the staff and it felt like we were just an inconvenience to them even though we had already booked and had been told our time. just ridiculous! would not recommend calling up as they seem to ignore you. there was nothing on their website to suggest that the phone number wouldn't be able to transfer out booking information. awful!

Good restaurant pleasant view out of windows and really nice food

Overall good, just one detail in that our Margherita pizza was missing the basil leaves

The staff is brilliant and the food is AMAZING!!! Absolutely loved the Pollo Pesto, the best pesto i’ve ever had!!! Amazing place to eat, i highly recommend it people!!!

Got food delivered. Was freezing cold after waiting over an hour for delivery. Pizza was not cut and freezing cold to touch as soon as delivered, partners pasta was overcooked(cheese was burnt black on top). Overpriced for small portions also! Absolutely would not recommend!

Distant service and slow Food portions were generous

By far the worst experience ever at a pizza express. After being seated, we were sat at the table for a very long time before anyone bothered to take our order. Then it was another very long wait for our drinks to come out. Then over an hour for our pizzas which we had to raise a complaint about. When our pizzas eventually arrived. They were overcooked, cold and just did not taste nice.

Dirty glasses, the pizza toppings will be 100g max if you scrape it off the top. This was my last visit to this chain, would not recommend to anyone

Horrible. We couldn't get a seat because it was full and we had to wait 1-6 hours to get a table booked for 4 people! We usually stay at Liverpool ONE Shopping Center for 7 hours and we had to eat somewhere else and I really wanted to eat at this place. I might come back and try and get a seat next time if there even are seats available.

What a bad place and I never got to try my food here because you need to wait 6 Hours just to dine in and we stay for 7-8 hours and we can only shop some where else for 5-20 minutes

Food was standard pizza express. Initial service was reasonable Then waited for 40 minutes to find a waitress to take a dessert order. Finally gave up, paid the bill and left! Lots of staff at the far end of the restaurant doing their own thing but no one actually taking care of diners!

Emma provided excellent friendly service, and was quick to recommend/promote nice items from the menu. Theo helped resolve an issue with the bill. All in all, a highly enjoyable early valentines meal.

Really friendly service and staff member even told us about the £1 pizza deal which was kind! Prompt service for starter and main, could’ve had another drink but didn’t get chance to ask. Also ordered another dough balls after the first, which didn’t arrive… luckily wasn’t charged for this. Easy to pay online with the app thankfully we found this as only appeared to be one server! Great quality food though as always!

I went to pizza express with my boyfriend recently and it was such a shock how bad the service and the food was! We ordered a starter - dough balls-which came out quite quickly and was lovely. However we then waited over an hour for our mains. We were not spoken to, asked to top up our drinks etc. I would be completely understanding if the restaurant was busy, however it was less than 1/3 full! After over an hour my boyfriend asked the server if our food would be out shortly, he checked and he stated it would be out soon. Not long after the food came out and my lasagna was cold. I couldn’t be bothered with the confrontation so I ate some, left most of it. Paid and left. Not a very good experience and staff were not attentive or apologetic about the wait time. Not sure if this was a one off but we won’t be back.

Overall worth a visit if your in town, the service a food is pretty good, i would recommend you download the app before you go as you might nab some free doughballs.

2 hours 40 mins late, ordered at 19:20, didn't arrive until 22:00. Food was wrong, cold, stale and difficult to chew by the time it had arrived.

Very bad experience, I do not reccomend this place if you feel hungry. Pizza is pretty bad, you chew like a chewing gum to eat it and has pathches of burn ( overcoocked). Hot chocolate is more like a brown water with no taste, no sugar, it is so much diluted that you could say they washed the dishes in that mug. And the waitress didn't understand my options for pizza.

We never even got past the wait here sign at the door ...NO ONE ..came to seat us or even acknowledge us being there...after waiting 10 mins we gave up and left as did the people who arrived just after us...DISGUSTING

As soon I arrived a blond waitres told me I have to wait. I understand this, but since I went for a quick bit only I thought this shouldn't be a big issue. However, what pissed me off is that I wanted something to drink at the beginning and nobody came! The blonde waitress was talking to the kitchen staff, an Indian guy was cleaning tables (very slow 🐌) and nobody else was watching the customers and what they could need. Nobody seems to care. And the restaurant was not busy! In hospitality industry you have to be and move your ass QUICK! I decided to leave the restaurant, but before I saw a manager that looked like Shaggy from Scooby Doo (moving here to there, but doing nothing really) and told him that service was shocking.

With just one chef on duty we waited nearly an hour to be fed. The service was terrible. Express - NOT.

Went as a walk-in on a busy Saturday night, waited less than the estimated time we were given and could not fault the food or the service! Our server Emma was really friendly and attentive, and was great with our 3 year old

A delicious Pollo d'Astra pizza restaurant. The second course is pasta with cheese and spinach filling. It is also very delicious. The place has a nice atmosphere and is spacious. Only the service is slow.

Me my partner Kimberly went to pizza express and the new menu and fantastic opinions to change from and stuff are amazing we got pizza and Garlic bread and Mozzarella sticks hunny so good be back again soon thank you ❤

Honestly the best part about Pizza Express is that you can pay with Tesco Clubcard vouchers. The food was very good and service was reasonably well timed. However it was very cold in the restaurant and when the sun was extremely bright we had to have sunglasses on inside because of the lack of blinds.

I had a great visit to this PE (when compared to Albert dock) Staff were really friendly and welcoming. Manageress greeted me, sat me and advised there may be a wait on the food. My waiter was super efficient and friendly without being intrusive. Food was delicious - the kitchen team.

Starters weren't as tasty as expected except for the dynamite balls. Pizzas in the main course were delicious. Service was great and it was easy to sit there and eat.

Al pedir nuestra comida pedimos que salieran las horas cuando estuvieran listas, después de 15 minutos he marcado a nuestro servidor para preguntar dónde están todas las ensaladas... Él dijo “ohhh no podemos hacer eso, necesitas reunirlo todo” Más de £ 8 por media mozzarella (40 gr) Y luego una pizza sobre cocinada, nunca tuvimos un cheque de vuelta. Lástima que pueda obtener mejor pizza y servicio de una comida para llevar

Went there for dinner with my partner to celebrate my art cushions being on sale at Wraptious. We were told that the wait maybe long but this did not bother us as I could detail my designs. One was off the Albert docks, one was of Manei Bridge in Anglesey and the third was a romantic scene of two fairytale characters. The staff were in stress as the huge party at the back were completely overwhelming everyone. Hope you guys were perfectly fine in the end. And just to let you know that your hospitality was top notch.

I don't recommend it, they simply asked me to leave and wait outside, this is absurd, terrible service, I felt humiliated in this place!

My daughter and I travelled to Liverpool to shop.. needed a boost. Found ourselves at your restaurant… what can I say Ryan’s service and banter was top notch.. and my Goats cheese Buddha was absolutely delicious. Credit to Ryan though, made our day..thank you

We were here for dinner. The service was friendly and helpful and they made a real effort to advise me about my allergies. There was a really delicious lassagna and a chocolate cake with a scoop of ice cream. Gladly again.

This is probably the best Pizza Express I have been too and I've been to a lot. Whilst the food was on par with most others, generally good, it's the service and the facilities that surpass. The staff here are amazing and do their job with impeccable professionalism, but yet making it personable. We were at restaurant at 5.30pm, 10th June and it was the young lad that stood out and I have to say, he was the best restaurant worker I have ever come across, well done. I wish I could remember his name, but I think he was the only young man working, so hopefully you know who you are, as should the management. We had very little contact with other staff members, but the place seemed to be run smoothly. On another note and less important to some, but not to me, the restrooms were in immaculate condition and very well looked after.

Took my son and his friends for a birthday dinner. Food was ok, dough balls are always a hit. Staff were friendly. Dealt with fuzzy eaters and menu change requests without issue. Could have been a bit more attentive with drinks etc but on the whole a good experience.

We came here on Sunday after a long day at Comic Con, two adults and five hungry teenagers. We were lucky to be seated. Service was good, food was good - a little more expensive than I remember (but to be frank my last Pizza Express meal was over a decade ago!). Not the absolute best pizza I've ever had, but tasty and certainly filled a hole! I had the Padana which was delicious. Nduja calzone was a firm favourite amongst the boys. Husband liked the American Hottest but I think we both agreed it could be hotter!

Visited this Pizza Express as a couple on trip to Liverpool. Staff were helpful, friendly and attentive. Restaurant was clean and food was good. Staff took time to listen to specific food requests and checked in to see whether we needed anything else a couple of times during the meal. Would recommend and will definitely return. Only improvement point I can give is that the restaurant would be better with some low level background music for those occasions when the restaurant is not very busy.

Showed up without booking they found a seat swiftly. I was hungry, asked waitress and she didn’t raise my expectations but in the end food arrived without much wait too validating Express part of the name for me :) I wanted it hot and it arrived hot.

Service was okay but food was poor, sloppy giuseppe no longer sloppy due to very little cheese, veg used to be finely chopped ours looked like chef couldn't be bothered and threw the ends of a red onion on the pizza. For the price we paid the toppings should be more than green pepper and onion thrown on a pizza. Drinks overpriced £14 for a double vodka and coke. Was once mine and my daughter's favourite place to visit for a pizza fix but won't return.

Dreadful service. Felt totally ignored. Express shouldn't mean 2 hours to get to the pizza. Staff working hard but just not keeping up.

Went with kids. Waited for an hour to order., and some more time for the food to be served. The waiters and waitresses were avoiding eye contacts with customers. They were very busy and they looked very unhappy. They were working very passively. The restaurant looks nice. The food was just okay, not impressive at all, not even as good as the cook at home frozen ones from any supermarket. My fellow felt awful for the young staff working there, he wanted to tip them. He thought they must be heavily exploited, like over working but not well paid. I told him not to. I don’t want to spoil these bad restaurants, in case they’ll be like the ones in American, in case they’ll pay less to their staff and the staff will be less and less happy. It’s true that the more people tip the more likely the restaurants will pay less for the waiters and waitresses.

We turned up 20mins late and I apologised and explained we'd never been to Liverpool before and we'd got lost. She said she had to give our table to someone else. What i didn't understand was the whole restaurant had 11 people in it in total....it was completely empty! The food was lovely and fresh and the waitresses and waiter were lovely. Albeit the service was super slow.

This is by far the worst pizza express I’ve visited! Staff were extremely rude all because I asked to be seated in a different spot due to having anxiety and claustrophobia. I pointed to a table a bit more out of the way and asked if it be okay to sit there and his response was ‘You want to sit on the dirty table?’ He slammed the menus on the table, I assumed he was gonna clean it for us but he didn’t. He took our order we just wanted water as our drink along with a side and a pizza. When we said water he rolled his eyes which I thought was really weird as not everyone likes fizzy drinks/alcohol. He practically slammed the water on the table and then ignored me when I tried asking him if he could clean the table. When the woman came over with our side I asked her if she would be able to clean the table she gave me an awful look and then cleared some jugs and cups from before. None of them came back to wipe the table so we had to just eat like that. The restaurant wasn’t very packed either I wasn’t asking much I just want to feel comfortable when I’m eating. When the pizza and side came they weren’t very warm and the pizza was practically stale. Would not recommend!

Service was abysmal at best. A group of us were waited to be seated and that was perfectly understandable however after we were seated and our orders had been taken it took about 45- an hour for our pizzas to actually be served, keep in mind our friend who was about 15 minutes late was served and her pizza came out a long time before any of ours which is very strange. We eventually got the pizzas and to be completely honest they were hard and cold definitely not worth the price. The servers were very hostile the entire visit as though we were inconveniencing them as we witnessed them sit down to eat before we could even get a chance to order our desert. I will definitely not be going back and would definitely not recommend this place to anyone.

For them, app delivery people are rubbish, we wait for a long time and are ignored. The restaurant's stance is regrettable, if they can't meet the demand for sales via app, please don't sell. I think I was invisible to a man who was welcoming people.. 👎👎👎

Unhelpful stuff… don’t go there

I always order the pepperoni(now American hot) thin crust pizza with jalapeños. So expecting a nice softish pizza as I have always rolled the cut triangles. Delicious, today my crust was like a large cream cracker, even cutting it the base broke up. The other three guest where un impressed with the food, penne dish paste couldn't be chewed it was over baked.

Lasagne had no beef in and was 99.9% tomato purée, the 10 chips I got was mushy and cold. The small garlic bread was alright. Bit cold. Ordered after 5pm initial delivery time was estimated 6pm, the food arrived at 7pm

My new favourite Pizza Express! Before I visited here, my favourite PE was always Hong Kong Airport but that closed a few years back so I've been hoping to find another just as good. This is definitely it! Don't get me wrong, I've not been visiting them all but this one stood out in particular for me. I visited on a busy night where they had a block booking of 48! But the staff were flying and honestly didn't stop for a second. I was greeted well, served promptly and felt just as valued as a lone diner as did the huge table of 48. The food is the food and it's always good but, in my mind, it is the people who make the place and this place was brilliant.

The place was not very busy as you can see in the pictures, me and my family had to wait a lot to be seated, the worker (a man) walked by us many times and ignored us completely. I understand he might be busy but it doesn’t mean he could walk by us and not tell us anything such as to “wait few minutes”! After 3-4 times he walked by us he finally said that he will come whenever he can. I have tried Pizza Express in a different location and their service was way better than this location & the other location was busy yet we didn’t have to wait long as this location. I will not be coming to this location again.

Okay. Decent ambience within the scope of a branded outlet. Food is overpriced and there are better pizzas to be found. Staff friendly and efficient.

I had the beetroot Buddha bowl it was delicious, service brilliant the waiters were so helpful

There was barely any cheese and sauce on our pizza, so some slices were very disappointing. I expelled a cough from the dryness of the pizza? I don’t even know what to call it at this point.

We ordered this food 65 minutes ago for it to arrive freezing cold and the pizza is not even cut. The dough balls are hard and chewy and the overall quality of the food is extremely poor. The garlic bread with cheese is also undercooked and the cheese barely even melted. You would think after waiting over an hour for this food, it would at least be room temperature. not cold. I have just wasted £28.00 on this order and would recommend anyone wanting to order food just order elsewhere.

We ordered from Pizza Express in Liverpool at 8pm. The delivery arrived at 10.30pm. It was cold. We tried to call Pizza Express to cancel the order or complain with no answer. Dreadful experience. Never Again!!
