Pizza Express in Liverpool

Service was okay but food was poor, sloppy giuseppe no longer sloppy due to very little cheese, veg used to be finely chopped ours looked like chef couldn't be bothered and threw the ends of a red onion on the pizza. For the price we paid the toppings should be more than green pepper and onion thrown on a pizza. Drinks overpriced £14 for a double vodka and coke. Was once mine and my daughter's favourite place to visit for a pizza fix but won't return.

Absolutely livid with cost for what we got it was vile, lasagne tasted like an Iceland packaged one, pasta for thr kids was inedible, chips went to mush full of oil

Dreadful service. Felt totally ignored. Express shouldn't mean 2 hours to get to the pizza. Staff working hard but just not keeping up.

Went with kids. Waited for an hour to order., and some more time for the food to be served. The waiters and waitresses were avoiding eye contacts with customers. They were very busy and they looked very unhappy. They were working very passively. The restaurant looks nice. The food was just okay, not impressive at all, not even as good as the cook at home frozen ones from any supermarket. My fellow felt awful for the young staff working there, he wanted to tip them. He thought they must be heavily exploited, like over working but not well paid. I told him not to. I don’t want to spoil these bad restaurants, in case they’ll be like the ones in American, in case they’ll pay less to their staff and the staff will be less and less happy. It’s true that the more people tip the more likely the restaurants will pay less for the waiters and waitresses.

We turned up 20mins late and I apologised and explained we'd never been to Liverpool before and we'd got lost. She said she had to give our table to someone else. What i didn't understand was the whole restaurant had 11 people in it in total....it was completely empty! The food was lovely and fresh and the waitresses and waiter were lovely. Albeit the service was super slow.

This is by far the worst pizza express I’ve visited! Staff were extremely rude all because I asked to be seated in a different spot due to having anxiety and claustrophobia. I pointed to a table a bit more out of the way and asked if it be okay to sit there and his response was ‘You want to sit on the dirty table?’ He slammed the menus on the table, I assumed he was gonna clean it for us but he didn’t. He took our order we just wanted water as our drink along with a side and a pizza. When we said water he rolled his eyes which I thought was really weird as not everyone likes fizzy drinks/alcohol. He practically slammed the water on the table and then ignored me when I tried asking him if he could clean the table. When the woman came over with our side I asked her if she would be able to clean the table she gave me an awful look and then cleared some jugs and cups from before. None of them came back to wipe the table so we had to just eat like that. The restaurant wasn’t very packed either I wasn’t asking much I just want to feel comfortable when I’m eating. When the pizza and side came they weren’t very warm and the pizza was practically stale. Would not recommend!

Service was abysmal at best. A group of us were waited to be seated and that was perfectly understandable however after we were seated and our orders had been taken it took about 45- an hour for our pizzas to actually be served, keep in mind our friend who was about 15 minutes late was served and her pizza came out a long time before any of ours which is very strange. We eventually got the pizzas and to be completely honest they were hard and cold definitely not worth the price. The servers were very hostile the entire visit as though we were inconveniencing them as we witnessed them sit down to eat before we could even get a chance to order our desert. I will definitely not be going back and would definitely not recommend this place to anyone.

For them, app delivery people are rubbish, we wait for a long time and are ignored. The restaurant's stance is regrettable, if they can't meet the demand for sales via app, please don't sell. I think I was invisible to a man who was welcoming people.. 👎👎👎

Unhelpful stuff… don’t go there

I always order the pepperoni(now American hot) thin crust pizza with jalapeños. So expecting a nice softish pizza as I have always rolled the cut triangles. Delicious, today my crust was like a large cream cracker, even cutting it the base broke up. The other three guest where un impressed with the food, penne dish paste couldn't be chewed it was over baked.

My new favourite Pizza Express! Before I visited here, my favourite PE was always Hong Kong Airport but that closed a few years back so I've been hoping to find another just as good. This is definitely it! Don't get me wrong, I've not been visiting them all but this one stood out in particular for me. I visited on a busy night where they had a block booking of 48! But the staff were flying and honestly didn't stop for a second. I was greeted well, served promptly and felt just as valued as a lone diner as did the huge table of 48. The food is the food and it's always good but, in my mind, it is the people who make the place and this place was brilliant.

The place was not very busy as you can see in the pictures, me and my family had to wait a lot to be seated, the worker (a man) walked by us many times and ignored us completely. I understand he might be busy but it doesn’t mean he could walk by us and not tell us anything such as to “wait few minutes”! After 3-4 times he walked by us he finally said that he will come whenever he can. I have tried Pizza Express in a different location and their service was way better than this location & the other location was busy yet we didn’t have to wait long as this location. I will not be coming to this location again.

Okay. Decent ambience within the scope of a branded outlet. Food is overpriced and there are better pizzas to be found. Staff friendly and efficient.

There was barely any cheese and sauce on our pizza, so some slices were very disappointing. I expelled a cough from the dryness of the pizza? I don’t even know what to call it at this point.

Lovely food and desserts and the staff are lovely too. The restaurant is so nice and relaxed.

Very poor, we waited an hour and a half after ordering to eat. Portions very small, no prawns or dough balls. My daughter ordered chicken wings, after an hour they said they had just dropped all the chicken wings on the floor so she would have to choose something else. They waitress had asked her boss to reduce the bill by £25 before we received it, that's how bad it was. Avoid.

Shambolic! What a time i had at pizza express today. I sat down in my chair at around 4.30 got my food around 5.10 which is pretty slow for just a pizza.I order a magherita pizza and halloumi but the halloumi never came was pretty upset about that i was really excited to try their halloumi. Also we asked for the bill at 5.20 but we didn’t get to pay it till 5.40 due to slow service . We had to make it to the central train in 5 minutes which is over 8 minutes away lucky for the delay!!

I absolutely LOVE all the food and the atmosphere in Pizzaexpress. I went to Pizza express yesterday with some of my friends and family and it was absolutely fabulous! The staff were extremely nice and quite funny. Even though it was a Saturday night and town was quite busy we were able to get a seated quite quickly and the speed of the food arrival was great. The food was all delicious as well. We ordered a bowl of dough balls and had to order another bowl when the mains came because they were so delicious!😋 I also had the Bruschetta which was very tasty as well. Thank you PizzaExpress for a wonderful evening.

Pizza was burnt, hard and had very little cheese on service was poor really disappointing as have had a nice meal there before won't go back there again

Xmas lunch with teenager kids. Lovely looking restaurant and staff really friendly. Food wasn't really the price though. At £16 for a pasta or pizza it's comparable to most decent restaurants. And the margarita pizza my daughter chose was so bare you could see the base.

Love coming to Pizza Express! Always end up leaving stuffed after a good meal!

Visited with my wife and two kids for a late lunch and was absolutely fantastic. Joao and the team couldn't do enough for us, even happily accommodating our requests for items that hadn't been on the menu for years!! Atmosphere in the restaurant was fantastic as well, just what was needed after a morning shopping.

Very good restaurant but pizza was cold

Walked in at 7.15 on a quiet Wed night and no one waiting. Place had, at best 30% tables filled. Staff member refused to give me a table for one as 'we're only taking reserved bookings tonight'. Walked past a bit later - still a third full. Avoid as they clearly don't want customers in case they actually have to do some work.

A disappointing lunchtime meal. Once the main course was served we seemed to have been forgotten about.

Visited from New York the home of pizza, and I’ve got to say pizza express came very close. Our host James was very accommodating and explained the entire menu so we were spoilt for choice, my partner had the pollo ad Astra and loved it. Ryan our waiter was more than friendly, even suggested a few good drinking spots liverpool had to offer. Thanks soo much for the hospitality definitely will return and highly recommend.

Went in for lunch after a busy day of shopping to spend more time with the family all the staff were absolutely lovely especially Ellie and Joao, and the food was out of this world especially the pollo pesto

Pizza express and no prince peado result!!

I decided to eat here because I've been here before and it was nice but had a very different experience this time. I walked in and there was no one to seat me so waited in the doorway for 10 minutes, then a girl walked in from outside, handed me a menu and lead me to a table without saying a word. I sat down, looked at the menu and saw that lots of items had been removed and the rest had undergone price hikes. I was given approximately a minute to read the menu before I was asked what I would like, I ordered pasta that I had ordered several times prior and a coke. The pasta cost £15 and a small glass of coke cost £4, I'm aware that we're in a cost of living crisis and am willing to pay a bit more but what I expect is for the food to be good or even just to the same standard that it was. The food I received was mostly inedible. I was given a small bowl of pasta with barely any sauce that was luke warm, watery and somehow both undercooked and burnt, I wasn't offered pepper or parmesan (I actually saw other customers go to the kitchen window to get some because they hadn't been offered it either) I ate what I could which was about half a bowl. Despite there only being 5 other customers the waitress took 20 minutes to ask if I wanted my bill then brought over the card machine, put it on to the gratuity screen and stood behind me, I didn't want to tip anything but felt uncomfortable so tipped £2 which brought the total of my meal to over £20 for half a bowl of cold, burnt, tasteless pasta and a small coke. I will not be returning to this restaurant.

Slow service but the pizzas were tasty and lunchtime deal good value.

Me and a friend were turned away from the Zizis just a few doors down so we came straight to Pizza Express. We were warmly welcomed and shown straight to a table. All staff were friendly and attentive. The food we ordered (Pollo Pasta and a pizza) was delivered quickly and was hot and tasty. The bill for two of us came to around 55.00. Thank you for a great dining experience.

We were just 3 in the restaurant and we had waited for the food 45 minutes,Service is so bad except the lady who’s take the order.

The venue is near Liverpool One open air eating and entertainment. The pizerrea does not have outside eating. Very efficient staff took our order and the food was very good.

Worst experience ever!!! Came in with a friend to have some quick dessert and some tea...had no idea that we have to wait outside to be sitted...so as soon as we walked in the waiter pointed at us and with an attitude told us "go over there and I will come in a minute"...felt lower than Everton in the League table...as soon as the supervisor came to us, she gave us the same attitude...not even a smirk, not even a smile...that's not how you greet your guests guys...definitely not coming back and please take actions against these 2 individuals. The cheesecake and the tea were great though.

Always a great experience. Staff are attentive. The place was busy but it didn’t deter them from providing an exceptional service. Food on point as always.

Visited here a couple times and always lovely and attentive staff. Took care of us very well and food was excellent! Also made us aware of the pizza express rewards app and we even managed to get some free dough balls for signing up!

@L1 retaurant. Staff were nice enough but we were sat at a table by a member off staff that hadn't been cleaned after the previous diners. Table was dirty, had their old napkins on and was not cleaned at all even after seating us. Old cutlery and napkins was left from them too and not replaced. Basic hygiene was not followed! Really put us off going back. Even contemplated leaving but had 2 hungry hildren with us. Didnt feel the staff were approachable enough to ask them to clean it. Food was nice but would expect even a basic level of hygiene for the tables.

Visited with my family while on a day out shopping at Liverpool One. Very good service. Staff were polite and friendly. Ordered drinks and then food. Delivery of drinks and food was quick. Everyone loved the pizzas. RECOMMENDED 5*

An excellent meal for a family of 5.

Myself and my family had a wonderful meal in Pizza Express Liverpool One on our first night in Liverpool. I was delighted to see they had such an extensive gluten free menu! Our service Sadie was superb, and went above and beyond for us during our visit. From food recommendations, to ensuring my little boy (almost 2) was looked after - she even filled his water bottle for us instead of a cup (which I can guarantee would have gone everywhere!). Sadie then packed up our dessert as we needed to get the little man back to bed. Sadie has genuinely been the nicest server I have ever met and would be the main reason we would return/recommend. The food was delicious, between 5 of us we had pizza, lasagne and pasta, all of which came quite quick to our table and can honestly say we enjoyed every bite.

Visited with my friend for lunch, took a while to be noticed standing at the door to be seated although it was nearly empty Food was just ok, we ordered garlic bread to start and at almost £7 I’d expect a bit more than a bit of cheese on something the size of a piece of bread! The main courses were ok but again just glad we didn’t have huge appetites, don’t think il be returning

Ordered two pizzas, one pizza was quite burnt the other was not cooked enough so sent back. The service was shocking, taking an age to take orders. Waiter too busy taking to customers when orders waiting. Drinks glasses were filthy.

Awful service and food. Worst pizza express ever. Wish we had read reviews before wasting time and money here.

Attended for a birthday with a group of people, we were seated at table 41 on the 22/7, was shown to our table to wait 20 minutes before anyone asked us if we even wanted to order drinks, glasses had lipstick on from previous customers. Food was late and when further items were ordered they never arrived and we had to have them removed from the final bill, restaurant wasn't that busy either staff members chatting to friends. Frustratingly slow service, staff dont seem bothered and live music drowned out any conversation we tried to have, avoid if you are in any sort of a rush, avoid if you hate awful service No need for it either, just needs someone running the floor better

Pizza express is me and my family's favourite place to eat pizza when shopping. The food is delicious and all the waiters are very polite. I would definitely recommend.

As a family we each had pizza, all were complimentary. Waiter was very friendly & there was also a young girl with live music who was very good. Meal was very quick service & the restaurant is spacious & pleasant. Would recommend.

After a day of shopping with my auntie and daughter and after hearing that this place was lovely! We decided to come here for my birthday, the lady who seated it was lovley and advised us on the vegan menu and couldn’t do enough for us but that’s where the lovely service ended! We waited over an hour for our pizza to arrive yet people that arrived after us was getting their food before us, when the pizza did arrive it was stone cold We asked for a gluten free pizza and vegan cheese we got told by the guy that served us we couldn’t do that. My daughter asked for a garlic butter dip it was a dish of solid butter! We will never be coming here again the service here is absolutely shocking!

When I did flag we had been waiting this long the guy I asked for the bill was uninterested and no apology or explanation given. We will never come here again for a meal, badly managed place, no interest in customers but happy to take your money. Worst service ever in my life Dire

We took our Year 3 class here on a school trip. The staff were amazing, particularly Victor, Monica and Neil . It was an educational, fun and practical morning. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The pizzas were delicious 😁 Thank you once again from Year 3 pupils and staff from Pleasant Street Primary School

Had a lovely brunch/lunch. Lovely quirky little bar with video games. Staff were really friendly and food was delicious.

Terrible experience, waitress refused to serve us and was rude. We asked for 1 more minute to think about our food order and she spent the subsequent 20 minutes walking around looking for jobs to do whilst serving other tables but did not serve us despite multiple kind gestures and asking if she had a minute for us to order. We paid for our drinks and left without being served for food. Will not be returning.

La camarera que nos atendió era realmente incompetente, desagradable y antipática; le pedimos un minuto más para pedir porque no nos había dado tiempo a penas, y pareció tomárselo como un comentario ofensivo pues no volvió a atendernos a pesar de hacerle señas en cuatro ocasiones, mientras ella se paseaba por el restaurante buscando alguna tarea que hacer y atendiendo a otros clientes; además, al pedir las bebidas y ver que éramos españoles nos miró de forma despectiva y puso cara de asco. Así, terminamos la bebida y nos levantamos para pedir la cuenta. No puedo juzgar la comida ya que ni siquiera probamos bocado. Experiencia muy desagradable

After a busy day I was looking forward to visiting my favourite pizza chain. Boy was I in for a disappointment. The sun was shining, it was nice and warm so I thought I would sit outside. I was approached by a member of staff who told me the terrace was closed despite at least 4 tables being occupied. This would have been acceptable had I not passed the restaurant some time later to see that some tables were still occupied. I really don't appreciate being lied too I can only assume that the waiting staff did not want to walk the extra few steps to wait on the tables outside

The only downslide to this evening was the wait we endured standing by the 'Please Wait to Be Seated' sign at the entrance. It was unforgivably slow, exacerbated by the fact that I am using crutches at the moment. This is the one area that needs to be improved. Other than that, it was great evening. The Service was good from here in and the food was excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed Dinner

Thinnest cold pizza ,very expensive. 10 prawns on seafood pizza! Did not get food at the same time. It was nasty.

We waited to be seated in the not too busy restaurant. After a while we sat in the waiting area since it was taking a while,not far from the entrance at all. Another customer walked in and stood right next to us and a server had addressed her right away and didn't even look in our direction. We felt appalled from the racial profiling and walked out, please do better.

Terrible service, got racially profiled. We waited at the waiting area and no one assisted us even though waitresses were passing by, but the moment a white customer walked through the door after us she was immediately sat down and assisted. Horrible experience, she saw us and didn’t speak to us, but assisted others in the meanwhile. Worst case of racial discrimination in Liverpool.

Great pizza, it was soooo tasty, love it.

It was a little quiet for a lunchtime, but fast service and hot freshly cooked pizza to the usual Pizza Express standard. Found it difficult to find d the entrance, but this is a feature of the architecture of the area. Always 1st choice for a pizza and most, like here, provide good food and service. Wish they'd bring the Four Seasons pizza back to the menu

Had lunch here on the day of the Eurovision final. Was lucky enough to get a table on the balcony which was a lovely vista in the sun. Food and service were great. You really know what to expect from Pizza Express so my feeling is that most people only leave a review when they've had a negative experience. However our's was entirely positive and would recommend to anyone visiting the city. 5*

I was in Pizza Express this evening with my family and we very disappointed. We ordered food and after 1 h 20 mins our food was still not served. When I ask where is my food some girl says your order was lost . No apologies no respect... Even when I try to speak with manager he turns me his back. I never back there again...

They have a join their club for free doughballs. Does not state anywhere not in conjunction with tesco vouchers asked if can use tesco vouchers no mention on the advertisements. Service poor and food very expensive for the portion size. Won't be returning.

Went for lunch with my 15 year old twins. One is autistic and hasn't been for a meal out in a very long time. The staff made us welcome and let us choose where to sit so it was a quiet area near the door. Food was great. Great experience for us.

Standard menu and quality of food for pizza express ( reasonable, but overpriced for what it actually is) However, we were served, but there was a definite lack of service. Not all menu items were available, due to the fact that some of the machines had been cleaned and shut down for the evening, strange thing to do whilst still allowing customers in. Not very welcoming is it, or is it?

Manager was rude, initially put us on a tiny table in the corner, when I asked to move she grabbed the menus and threw them on a table with screaming kids behind us. We walked out.

Tried to visit for food at about 4.30pm on a Sunday. There were 15 customers at a push. Waited at the please be seated sign for a ridiculous amount of time. The bartender did acknowledge us and try to get staff over to us but...

Lovely venue, great food and outstanding service. The staff even went the extra mile with our daughter who has Downs Syndrome who was pretending to be a waitress. They gave her a staff t- shirt, a cloth to clean tables and a tray to collect menus! She had so much fun!

It's pizza express. I wouldn't go there any more than Prince Andrew but the Italian place next door said it was too late. Kudos to the waitress who was friendly and gave some great recommendations for places to go for a drink after.
