Pizza Express in Islington

We were going to a concert at The Barbican. Being a Sunday the brasserie was closed so we booked a table in Pizza Express at 1, Clerkenwell Road. When we arrived we were shown to a table. There was a large group of people down one side and end of the restaurant. It was not immediately clear that they were all together. A number of young children were running around. We were unable to have any kind of conversation due to the noise (it transpired that it was a birthday party for 2 sixteen year olds) The food was fine and brought to us in a timely fashion. The staff were pleasant and friendly. Imagine our shock on finding out at the end of our visit that there was a whole other seating area behind the wall we had been sat in front of!!! If we had been seated there our experience would have been SO much more enjoyable. A real shame.

Food was delicious and service excellent. Maybe only half a star should come off because they served my partner the wrong ice cream flavour and then tried to convince him it was something else.

I pre-ordered this food at 5.13pm for delivery at 7.30pm. The food finally arrived at 8.02pm. The cost of the order was £153.91 for a work training event. This isn't very impressive at all.

Absolute disaster. Worst rider and worst pizza. I live 2min from the restaurant and got a stone cold, poorly prepared pizza.

The service is really friendly and efficient. Carlos is a great waiter; attentive but not intrusive. The restaurant is spacious and immaculately clean and the food is spot on. It's great that the staff have insisted that the restaurant stocks my favourite after dinner liqueur!!

Mac and cheese had way too much garlic but still nice food and good service

My brother and I brought our mum in for lunch on her birthday recently. As it was a Sunday, it was fairly quiet. There was one waiter on and he was lovely. The service was good but not pressured or rushed. All three of us had the Sloppy Giuseppe with a side of garlic bread and some polenta chips. The food was really nice and the atmosphere was relaxed. We have been here before and would go again, Thankyou.

This pizza express seems to have a bad rep but it is excellent. We had hot food served promptly which tasted as you would want from the chain. No complaints nothing to report. As with all PE they are stingy with the prawns! Thanks to the team.

We come weekly for a midweek dinner. Because we come so often, our pizza express app status is gold! This means kids eat free and dough balls are free too. Yum!

Delivery was more or less ok, food was warm at least not cold. But pizza was made wrong , with wrong ingredients, where to complain about it?

It is a safe value. The pizzas are good, they have thin dough and slightly acidic tomato. The price is more than correct for other places.

Hi, me and my daughter were at your restaurant on 10th April 19.45 booking. I feel I need to bring this matter to your attention. The Male waiter that served us ( small with glasses) had bad attitude, didn't engage with us while taking order, was looking around. Couldn't make eye contact with him when we needed more drinks, it was like we had annoyed him and he was reluctant to serve us. Happy with other customers!! This is not the sort of service I should receive from any restaurant! The food was delicious as always, but the service needs to improve!!

What a joke of a restaurant. Nobody there on a Thursday, bland frozen pizza, bored staff, discount codes not working. Never again!

The joint was near empty for good reasons. The American Hot was served on a cold plate and contained hardly any toppings. The staff talked to each other all the time or were on their phones. Appalling service all round. It makes you wonder if there is a manager on the premises.

Starter of garlic type mushrooms with cheese… really was quite an odd presentation and there was absolutely no garlic. Pizza had a very undercooked and soggy base. Far too much tomato. First choice of wine was unavailable… so we had to pay more for a bottle was wanted. Evan as a local resident, would we go again?? Probably not!

The wings are half cooked and had to be put in the oven. The gluten free pizza was lacking cheese!

We order different bowls and were very satisfied.

Chilli King prawns so small and stupidly hot (spice) more like mini shrimps. Food on bill that we didn't receive. Chipped glass. Whole place didn't seems particularly clean. Food seemed liked it had been warmed in a microwave

Now this was a lovely place. Been a long time since I visited Pizza Express and it certainly did not disappoint. The food was so tasty and the service was amazing. Such a lovely atmosphere and I loved the mirrors on the back wall so you got a real 360 feel to the place. Definitely worth a visit 🙌

Wir hatten uns eine Vegane Pizza über Uber eats bestellt. Diese war wirklich extrem lecker. Wenn der Lieferbote die Pizza auch noch in einer Wärmebox gebracht hätte, wäre sie sicherlich noch besser gewesen. Er kam auf dem Fahrrad mit den Boxen in der Hand an. Das sah witzig aus und die Pizza war halt schon ausgekühlt. Dennoch waren sie extrem lecker.

They put hardly any cheese on the pizza and gave me 5 small pieces of ham. This Pizza Express is in decline. They dont answer the phone either to recieve complaints.

Carlos is always so helpful with my gluten allergy- every time I come to this pizza express he sees that I have a lovely meal with no stress regarding my dietary requirements. I love coming here will do for the foreseeable

terrible. I emphasised no chilly no spicy. But the pizza was still provided with severe spicy.

I came here for a work event on two separate occasions - both times the staff were attentive and able to cater for a large group. The food was delicious and ambience in the venue great, however it was the customer service that was second to none. Massive thanks to all of the staff working Friday afternoons who made the work lunch such an enjoyable and delicious occasion.

Ordered 35 + pizzas for an event, the food was lovely and hot, delivery was quick (we were v close!) But good effort for the order and the pizzas were delicious.. almost no leftover!! Thank you for helping with our event, we will reccomend your branch to our associates.

Why does no one seem to go to Pizza express anymore? The pizza is as banging as ever. So too the dough balls. Just a shame that there's not much vibe with so few diners, but their pizzas alone would still get 5* from me.

DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE FROM JUST EAT. The pizza was disgusting, soggy, greasy, wet and undercooked. Inedible. Sent photos to Just Eat for a refund and was refused 24 hours later. Apparently the pizza quality may vary between restaurants. Well, thats interesting considering we have ordered from here hundreds of times before. To be honest the quality has gone down and the price is extortion. To top it off the Just Eat driver takes ages and then their customer service is appalling. So, a disabled person who cannot leave their home had to pay nearly 20 quid for a pizza that went in the dustbin. Fantastic. Restaurant, take note that your delivery partner is making you look terrible. Also take note that your own 'chefs' need to know how to cook a pizza correctly. Maybe head office needs to give you a better budget for ingredients and staff training? So, allround waste of time. Don't make the mistake we did.

the crust is mouldy and restaurant blamed it on the delivery guy since they somehow check every pizza, even the bottoms??

Not only a reliable option for dinner but the staff and food was top notch! We have been going to PE for more years than we care to remember. We popped into Clerkenwell one as we were in the area and just really fancied it. Absolutely delightful waitress. Great food and a bottle of Montepulciano! Great, new spicy doughballd, and the chicken appetizer is really good. Staff are good too, but it's a bit of a quiet and buzzless joint.

The service was appalling when I visited (and the restaurant was fairly quiet with only about 3 other tables with customers). As the customer, I had to get up and go to the back of the restaurant to ask for someone to take our order, as after being seated our table was left unattended for a prolonged period of time. There appeared to be multiple waiters sitting at the back of the restaurant, away from the customers, having their break. The waiter who eventually took our order was very friendly and helpful, but unfortunately he did not seem to be familiar with the dishes and drinks on the menu. He struggled to name the dishes and drinks when he brought them to our table. Another customer who arrived after us got their food before our table. The food was pretty good, although one of the pizzas was overdone by the chef. (We were offered another if it was not satisfactory). When it came to paying the bill, once again there were no waiters around. As customers, we had to get up to find someone to pay for our meals. Tables where other customers had sat and left were not cleaned up and left dirty for a long time, making the atmosphere unpleasant to dine in. The service at this restaurant needs improving. I suggest staff are retrained on how to serve customers and attend to tables.

I went there at 10 to 11, and they wouldn’t serve me. It’s supposed to shut in 11 that’s not catering I only wanted a takeaway it’s not the first time this has happed

Thoroughly disappointing pizza that went straight into waste. Too much tomatoes sauce, cheese clumped up in the middle, topping in the box, undercooked dough and cold. Abysmal.

We booked lunch for a company team day. The team were fantastic for our group of 40! Edvige and Sofia were very helpful and everyone was happy with the service. We will definitely book again.

I took my son who has autism and learning difficulties for lunch because he loves pizza express but the environment can sometimes be challenging for him. Our waitress Edvige went out of her way to make sure he was comfortable and happy including giving us a quiet table away from the other customers and giving him extra of his favourite biscuits on our dessert. On my way home with a very happy and settled boy, thank you so much Edvige ❤️
