Pizza Express in Islington

DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE FROM JUST EAT. The pizza was disgusting, soggy, greasy, wet and undercooked. Inedible. Sent photos to Just Eat for a refund and was refused 24 hours later. Apparently the pizza quality may vary between restaurants. Well, thats interesting considering we have ordered from here hundreds of times before. To be honest the quality has gone down and the price is extortion. To top it off the Just Eat driver takes ages and then their customer service is appalling. So, a disabled person who cannot leave their home had to pay nearly 20 quid for a pizza that went in the dustbin. Fantastic. Restaurant, take note that your delivery partner is making you look terrible. Also take note that your own 'chefs' need to know how to cook a pizza correctly. Maybe head office needs to give you a better budget for ingredients and staff training? So, allround waste of time. Don't make the mistake we did.

Restaurant said it closed at 9 but to all intents and purposes it should have said 8.30. Thats the time we arrived. I would just say we didn't get a warm welcome. Service was slow and unfriendly and the food was lukewarm. At no time where we asked if everything was ok. We are regulars at Pizza Express in many cities and have never had a problem. Usually great friendly service and consistently good food.

We enjoyed a family meal at this pozz express at 5pm. Service was superb from an inexperienced waiter. Hw was patient and polite. Couldn't fault the food. Delicious.

Patrick runs the Islington Green store (N1). His staff are always so motivated and lovely, especially Salaam. Patrick, please keep up the great work, we love your store and food tremendously. Hopefully Head Office appreciates the work you guys are putting in, can’t wait to visit again soon. A big thank you, from us all. Pizzas chères avec une garniture plus que succincte, pour ne pas dire quasi inexistante. Aucun intérêt. Ambiance tristounette, manque d’éclairage. Bref, passez votre chemin et préférez un restaurant italien !

If below average is what you want, then this is the place for you! We showed ourselves to a table for two and the waiter came over shortly after. The gluten free pizzas were bland and the desserts offered on the menu weren’t available. I was prompted to pay the bill before I’d finished my coffee.

Went here in the evening for a quick takeaway order. No one was there to guide me at the door so I just walked in and was trying to talk to the nearest waitress. She seemed pretty stressed so backed off and was quickly attended to by a different waiter. Took my order and asked me to sit and wait. Place seemed decently packed with most of the tables occupied and I also saw an office gathering of people leaving as I got there. Pricing is pretty decent and service was fairly quick. I ordered the chicken pizza I had ordered, very thin and decent toppings. Will definitely have food here again.

Visited on a Friday eve, had a voucher for 3 courses for £13.95 - friendly staff, very good service - one of the best Tuna Nicoise salads i have had (my favourite at PE). Lovely food, drink and service so we left very happy.

Delicious pizza, quiet and nice ambience. Thus the prices are a little bit higher, they have a great vegan menu: starters, mains, desserts and drinks.

It’s a Pizza Express so what is there to review food wise? The difference should be the service and here it was distinctly average, with a lack of care, I was just another number to process

A busy restaurant. The service was too fast and the staff seemed to want to get our table back so they can serve more customers. Felt rushed and hurried.

Good food and the guy that served us and helped us make our pizzas today was very nice and helpful. However, the manager was horrible. Kept arguing and shouting with the employees. Very unprofessional and rude. She should be taught some manners.

I honestly recommend pizza express only if you are desperate in a rainy night and if you are hungry and mad!! That's not pizza, not even close!!

Service was great just popped in for a quick lunch. Staff very friendly and helpful. Pizza average for UK Pizza, but frankly it delivered what was expected.

The service was very good and the order was taken very quickly. But disappointed with the pizza itself. The base was all wrong. I make a better base for the pie at home. It was oily and not tasty.

Fuimos a Pizza Express en Portsmouth anoche y nos gustó tanto, fuimos hoy también para el almuerzo, esta vez en Londres. Es una comida fantástica y realmente picante si deseas que sea picante. También es una gran relación calidad-precio. El nuevo entrante con pesto es excelente, al igual que los tomates secos. Y todas las pizzas son realmente buenas.

Terrible disinterested service - the male and female waiting staff were more interested in using their mobile phones.

The food was ok if a bit pricey, but hey it's Central London. Downloaded a 15% voucher so that helped a bit. The staff were very helpful and reasonably quick.

Mis hermanas y yo y mi primo pensamos que íbamos a almorzar ya que teníamos una prioridad de 2 cuando llegamos. Dijeron que no podían hacerlo y nos pidieron a mi primo ya mí que nos sentáramos en mesas diferentes para usar el cupón, que pensé. El servicio al cliente absolutamente terrible terrible servicio era pobre y realmente retrasaron la comida, esperamos una hora para la comida y me decepcionó tanto en el servicio que nunca voy a visitar Pizza Express. El personal era terrible y estaban hablando entre los miembros del personal sobre nosotros. Cuando llegó la comida, era aceitosa y terrible.

Hi, not sure why they are called Express as their service was very slow. Also the dessert was served before the main course. The La Reine pizza I ordered was oily. 1 hour and a half for a pizza and a dessert.

No pude encontrar este restaurante aquí. . . Desde aquí nos deliveroo anoche. Entregado puntualmente. Pedimos dos pizzas romana, American con alcaparras, aceitunas, cebollas, y piñones . raisens Ambos eran muy sabrosas, aunque requiere un breve periodo en el horno. También pedimos patatas fritas que me gustó realmente de polenta. La salsa dulce que venía con era más como para ensalada, así que hubiera preferido algo así como pedido tzatziki descienden de ellos. Todavía una buena comida, pero posiblemente un poco caro. . .

La comida era muy buena y bien presentada, las bolas de masa, eran muy pequeñas y sólo unos 7 tomates en el arranque. La comida normal express pizza así que sé nos gusta.

Fuimos allí en la víspera de Año Nuevo y nos saludó un camarero muy miserable. Nos llevaron a nuestra mesa en el restaurante vacío. No había música y ambientes, no sin sonrisas. Entrantes estaban bien pero la mía estaba servido con la adición de un cordón de cabello! Nuestros principales eran sabrosos y el menú no nos dieron un desierto gratis porque habíamos pedido entrantes. Todavía no hay sonrisas y muy cuando pedí la cuenta nos cobraron tanto para los budines, Cuando lo reclamé, no hubo ningún tipo de disculpa sólo una factura. Muy impersonal y no ser atrevidamente visitar pizza express de nuevo. Mala experiencia

Serveurs sympas avec les enfants.Les bolognaises sont très bonnes.L'ambiance est chaleureuse.La clientèle est locale ce n'est pas un attrape touriste.

Restaurant ouvert le dimanche.Bon rapport qualité prix.Plutôt calme, très propre.Bonne adresse pour diner avec un petit budget apres une bonne journée de visite londonienne.A recommander

If you know Pizza express then there is nothing else to add. Same menu, same quality and same prices (I think). I would rate Pizza Express's pizzas 4/5 because for their size-price-quality ratios, size is not that big for a "medium" size and for the medium price, and quality is Good. So it is solid 4 stars out of 5.

Up to the normal standard of the Pizza Express chain. Standard of food and service was very good and as always no complaints about either the Garlic Bread or the classic American Hot.Great food at a good price.

Restaurant was almost empty when we entered - for good reason. Service was slow and conducted by an extremely sour waiter, toilets were unkempt and didn't flush, dessert was still mostly frozen on the inside and there was something stuck to the inside of the water jug, presumably food from the wash. Very poor, even for a Pizza Express.

Saturday lunchtime, friendly service but food not up to standard, pizza cold within minutes as served on a cold plate, hardly any pudding choices, very slow to receive the bill.

Popped in to restaurant after visit nearby on business and although a bit apprehensive to find only one or two other tables occupied at lunch time ( but we were really early) we were soon put at ease by staff and they took our order and settled on san pelligrino sparkling water and a peroni beer, followed by a American Pizza with extra pepperoni and a La Reine Pizza. Pizza were served surprisingly quickly and were really tasty and excellent.Staff were exceedingly helpful and nice. Restaurant filled up as we finished and we know why. Highly recommended.

My nephew and I ate there twice in this restaurant that we found by chance. Each time was a success and the food very good. The decoration is very lovely and modern, pizza are very good and vegetables lasagne too. Concerning the prices it isn't cheap but I found that prices were related to the food's quality and the staff which is very friendly and professionnal. We visited this Pizza express on a number of occasions and most recently on 15 March 2015. While not disappointed by the food or service we were a little taken back by the cost. Prices seem to have risen quite sharply over the last year which puts a damper on an otherwise decent pizza restaurant our meal came to £70 for three people and only two had a starter or dessert. I can't complain about the food as it is of a very good standard all the dishes we had were well cooked and nicely presented. While the menu retains all the old favorites, it was good to see new additions and seasonal variations which helps to keep things fresh(probably why it's so expensive now). Still one addition to the menu which was totally delicious was their honeycomb slice and although a little costly was well worth it, if you get the chance just try it, you wont regret it, though your waistline might. The service here is o.k not to in your face but hands on enough when needed. All in all a good little restaurant but truth be told £70 for a few pizza's, two glasses of wine and a couple of puds is steep by anyone's standards. So if you don't mind paying a lot for pizza then this is the place for you.

Went here on our second night in London. The interior is beautiful and the staff were very friendly (we were served by several different people).We shared a starter of doughballs with three dipping sauces (pesto, garlic butter and an Italian sausage and olive oil mixture). This was lovely, a very good appetizer, dough was fresh and tasted great.For mains, I ordered lasagne and my boyfriend order pollo al pesto.He enjoyed his meal, though said it lacked in chicken. However, there were plenty of mushrooms, the sauce was tasty without being overpowering and the pasta was cooked well.My meal was a little disappointing, it seemed to be mainly sauce and pasta sheets, with hardly any meat or mushrooms. It was also a little bland in taste.We ordered 'Snowball Doughballs' for dessert (a Christmas special). They were doughballs covered in icing sugar and cinnamon, with a buttercream spread/ dip. This was quite nice, definitely would suit anyone with a sweet tooth.The total bill, including a large bottle of beer and bottle of cider came to just over £45, which was not bad.Would recommend this place for relaxed diners who aren't expecting 5 star food.

We were staying close by to this Restaurant and we decided to drop in, we love Pizza Express and always use the chain around the country, you always know what your getting. The Restaurant was pretty much empty so we thought we'd have no problem getting in. Some one came to greet us and we explained that we wanted to use our vouchers. The girl went on to say that in order to use the vouchers that we would have to book 2 hours ahead and that this is company policy. NEVER HEARD THIS BEFORE!!! No where on the vouchers does this tell us we had to do this. RUBISH and don't believe it. We didn't stay and glad we didn't as we ended up down the road in a fab cafe bar called 'Look mum no hands'!!

Went in on a quiet saturday evening for a quick meal.Was suprised at how quiet the place was, being 5 minutes from the City.The food was fine, exactly what you come to expect from such and established chain with the waitresses being efficient and attentive towards you.I did find the meal slightly more expensive than I would have expected. Its was £65.00 including tip.Overall, would go back.

Arrived to an empty restaurant just before noon on a Friday, with two children. I had made a reservation (by phone) but they didn't have a note of it.Seated fine, but waited ten minutes to be asked if I wanted to order drinks, and in the end I gave up and walked over to the FIVE staff loitering by the till and asked for tap water. When drinks order was taken, the waitress left before we had all ordered a drink, so when the drinks arrived after TEN minutes we ordered the remaining two drinks. Colouring pages were brought after twenty minutes, and blunt/broken colouring pencils. Really - is it that hard to get this stuff right? Food order was taken grumpily, and food arrived in different stages (kids food was not first!). PET PEEVE was that two plates were taken away before the rest of the group had finished eating (terribly RUDE) and then to add insult to injury, when we did all finish, we ended up stacking our own plates and waving down a person to clear the table. Overall, just terrible service and this chain needs to focus on service as the food is mediocre and portions small.

I visited this busy restaurant which was full of the usual Christmas parties. Despite this the manager himself waited on myself and friend and, when I mentioned we were in a bit of a hurry as we had to return to work, served us with a delicious meal and drink and all within half an hour. The food was excellent (as always) and we received absolutely excellent service. On leaving I asked the Manager's name and therefore a big Thank You to Amar.

Pizza-Express ist eine Kette. Man kommt (glaube ich) mit einem bestimmten Stadtplan sogar 20% Rabatt. Kostet aber mittags für 2 Gänge 10 Pfund und ist damit für London preiswert. Pizza ist ok und der Service ordentlich. Man kann nicht viel falsch machen. Das Lokal ist sauber und das Essen kommt schnell.

Best pizza chain in the world - in 27 years of eating in them I have never once had a 'bad' meal - they have varied but never ever bad. The pizzas are the closest thing in London you will ever get to a true 'italian pizza' the locations are simple, stylish and always friendly. Mines a Peroni and a Funghi
