Pizza Express in Haringey

The food was fine but the staff were certainly not. Both me and my partner felt very intimidated and put under pressure and rushed by the member of staff that was serving us when we just wanted to relax and take our time. We also felt that the staff were cold and unfriendly to us, possibly because we are a lesbian couple. Also, I dress very feminine but have a slightly masculine voice. While we were eating, I over heard (it was said very loudly) by a member of staff something to the effect that 'there are only 2 genders', which, at the least shows they were anti LGBTQ but did feel aimed at me, suggesting that I wasn't a woman. To be honest, we felt extremely uncomfortable and we would not want to go there ever again. Frankly, the staff were horrible.

I write reviews for only the very good and the very bad experiences. This was in the latter category. The restaurant is nicely furbished and has a reasonably good atmosphere, but the customer service is woeful. Our waiter gave the appearance of, err...well let's just say "under the influence". Once he had finally grasped our order, the main courses came out slowly. We finally caught the attention of different waiter (our original waiter seemed barely capable of operating by now) and gave him our coffee and ice cream order. We waited approximately 30 minutes and when finally we got the opportunity to ask where our order was were told that our table was not "his" table and that ice cream and coffees take the kitchen a long time to prepare. My son went to query with the manager who seemed nice but ineffective. He was then confronted by both of the waiters in an antagonistic manner. The manager offered to take 10% off the order, but this wasn't the issue. He needs to urgently address both the rudeness and low customer service levels provided by his staff.

Just ordered on deliveroo and waited two hours for them to just cancel the order. Called the restaurant multiple times and no answer. Spend your money at local pizzeria and not this corporate hell hole which don’t care about their customers

Well located in the heart of Muswell Hill this branch offers typical Pizza Express service however at the end of the meal I still felt quite hungry as if I had not eaten very much. Small servings may be beneficial to the proprietor[s bottom line but not a way to generate return business.

We were a group of 15 - it was a busy period for the restaurant so, we were asked to pre order our food; this was done easily & efficiently. Likewise the service was very efficient & welcoming. And everyone enjoyed the food / their menu choices.

I really don’t remember PE being this bad and used to love it as a kid . But the base is now thick and soft, and the pepperoni tiny and sparse. We both said it was like a supermarket pizza. It was worse quality, half the size and probably slightly dearer than all the good pizzerias in Crouch End and Muswell Hill. Not sure why we went - nostalgia maybe - but won’t be back.

We visited the restaurant today with a primary school class for the pizza making workshop. We were welcomed by the staff when we first entered. Everything was set up perfectly. The staff were very friendly, not only did they help and show the children how to make their pizzas, but they also taught us about the history of pizza making. We all had a great experience, and we would definitely go back again!

Atmosphere was lovely , had my daughters birthday party here , staff made great effort to make her feel special on her big day , pizza was lovely , service was great , thank you.

Me and my friend booked a table for the evening of the 4th at 21:15 through the Pizza Express website. On arrival to the restaurant, we found a member of staff packing furniture away and was told the restaurant was closed. We mentioned that we made a booking, but the staff member didn't see to care and continued to pack away. Looking online this branch is meant to be open until 22:00, so not entirely sure what happened. To say we were less than impressed was an understatement. I don't think we had seen such nonchalance in my life.

Me and my friend booked a table for 21:15 and I guess we were there only table left so they decided to just close early and forget about us. They didn’t even call to cancel our booking or try to let us know in any way shape or form so we had made our way there for them to be packing everything away and extremely rudely tell us they are closed. The man didn’t even want to listen, he just walked away and continued to pack away as we politely tried to explain that we had booked a table and he eventually just shut the door on us. Really unprofessional and no consideration for customers. I was honestly astounded.

Last time I ate at a Pizza Express was maybe 20 years ago. They used to have great bases, but when I visited today the thin base was spongy and unpleasant. The "crispy" halloumi bites were soggy and oily. Service was indifferent. Bit of a depressing experience.

Had a lovely lunch here with the kids. Food was nice, kids meal deal is good value for money. They get a starter of dough balls, a main,dessert with a drink for about £7. They have lovely pizza and pasta options. The staff are very friendly and prompt with the taking of orders and delivery of food. Happy to visit here again :-)

Manager sat us down and then left us. It was a good fifteen minutes before we managed to place our order. We had to stop a waiter who had served two tables who had come in after us before we got served. Food was nice. At the end we asked the manage for the bill and had to wait a further 5 minutes for it to arrive after asking another waiter for the bill before it finally arrived

Have tasted better pizzas than this was packed too packed for me topping slides off when you cut it reduced kids portion sizes I will not be going again

If I could rate it minus stars I would! From the beginning to the end it was a total shambles. Rude staff rude chefs and awful food! Took the waitress 20 mins to notice us and that was because I flagged her down. My daughters food came spaghetti bolognaise and it was burnt and over cooked hard and horrible! We sent it back and the chef was literally shouting and arguing with the waitress saying this is how it is meant to be cooked! The manager came over asking why we had sent back the food when you can clearly see it had black burnt bits on it! I have eaten in Southend’s pizza express and it is a much better service I am shocked that for muswell hill the whole experience is this bad! Don’t waste your money

Didn’t even eat there, was going to for a casual lunch on a Sunday, got seated relatively fast, but was waiting over 20 mins to order (anything, not even a drink order had been taken yet. Finally got acknowledged by the waitress and she said she’d be 2 minutes as she was talking to order of a couple who arrived after us (There were quite a few tables she was looking after while another waiter concentrated on the empty table of a customer who had just left. Maybe a bit of help for her wouldn’t go astray?)Anyway, 2 minutes passed and in that time she decided to go speak to another table and take their orders, stop past a table to speak toa kid and then went out the back for a bit. You know what to expect from Pizza Express and this was no different. Excellent service from our server Francisco. Tasty hot food, ideal as we had Tesco Clubcard vouchers to use making it a very reasonable price too. Would re-visit when in the area.

Tried to have lunch today. Whilst it was a typical busy Saturday afternoon we were completely ignored. Waited to be seated or even acknowledged but staff just walked by.

Fuimos a comer y queríamos algo agradable, pero como bajo en calorías como sea posible. Hacen una variedad de pizzas 'leggera que era perfecta. Tres opciones todas menos de 600 calorías y que estaban perfectamente muy sabroso y abundante. Añadimos una super ensalada comida que también era delicioso. Buen servicio y ahora mi restaurante favorito cadena de pizza.

Often very quiet and peaceful but service is always good. Generally offers what you get in every pizza express, reasonably priced, reasonably tasty food.

This is a Pizza Express and it does sell what you would expect from a pizza express.The staff are friendly, the atmosphere is good, some people might find it a bit noisy because the kitchen is in the main restaurant. Toilets are clean, usually quite busy but have never found it essential to book.

Waren am letzten Abend in London hier Essen. Wir bekamen sofort einen Tisch für zwei, obwohl das Restaurant gut gefüllt war. Das Essen war gut und reichlich und preislich ganz ok. Die Pizza, sowie die Lasagne waren sehr lecker. Die Bedienung war freundlich und immer bemüht uns alles recht zu machen, was sie auch schaffte.

Visited recently with a large group of family and friends. Atmosphere relaxed and we stayed all evening. Food is standard pizza express fare and I think it's become very tired. I only really visit here or any branch if the kids want to go . I asked for a veggie pasta but got one with chicken. Really not much more to say. Food really non descript, Feeds you if hungry but not much else. Service so so too

I have been here for a quick lunch with family. The food was ok, but the service was slower than slow. Not very busy but incredibly charmless and an absolute pain experience that could have been avoided if staff would be more prone to take orders. Time spent in the place: 1 hr and 20 mins. Just had a nauseating pizza at Pizza Express - a naked piece of over salted damp bread covered in leaves to be precise.Pizza Express used to be great. I kind of knew it had gone wrong long since, but my kid demanded a pizza, so I thought - " how bad can it be ?" Well not as bad as he noticed, but then again, he's seven - and he likes deep frozen pizza from Iceland !He had a greasy pepperoni - a pizza as subtle as a jam-sandwich. I had what they called a Nicoise - which turned out to be a damp lukewarm salty piece of bread covered in rocket beneath which, the rumour was, there was some tuna - I never found out. To drink I had a lukewarm rose - which kind of went with the lukewarm over-salted pizza, in that it was equally nauseating.Our starter, by the way, was just as awful, damp lukewarm deep fried calamari - so all in all, if you value continuity - that was a plus.This franchise used to be great - fashionable even. Today it is hard to image, apart from those suffering a temporary loss of cognition ( as I did ), no one but the most unsophisticated yokel would visit this restaurant twice. To be avoided.

Firstly, I never rated P.E until visiting this branch. The food has been consistently great, and the atmosphere inside always warm and friendly. The only downside is the staff and service is not as consistent, but that doesn't dampen the experience. Great for large groups and kids. Recommended 4.5/5

The caesar salad came without the dressing so had to get up and look for the waiter. The Regina Pizza (with smoked ham hock) I ordered was replaced with a La Reina Pizza with prosciutto as they had run out of ham hock. We were charged £3.50 for extra olives. The service was slow and the waiters not particularly attentive. When did it become so expensive to eat a couple of pizzas? Wow £48.00 for two with one glass of wine and 12% service! Not a good experience.

A nice restaurant with bright airy atmosphere. The menu has more than pizza with other Italian dishes available. I received a spicey pasta dish - very spicey. My wife was presented a wonderful chicken ceasar salad and my son a wonderful pizza, with freshly made and very light base. Price was reasonable and service very friendly and helpful.

Normally I love pizza Express and always leave happyyyy, However on this occasion I have totally been put off, the service, the quality or should I say quantity of the food at Muswell Hill branch is inadequate and unsatisfactory My visit yesterday (29th July) was indeed incomparable from previous visits to other chains, I went for lunch with my mum we entered the restaurant, no welcome, no attention just standing like lemons, so we sat ourself down on what was a booth table soon after a morbidly obese guy with a funny accent maybe the supervisor or manager as he wasn't wearing uniform came over and told us this table, out of many empty ones was reserved(no reserved sign either) so he moved us near the window ummmWhat happened next was interesting other other people came in and he asked them where they would like to sit... REALLY and they chose the table we were just sitting on where I sneezed over the cutlery 'opps' which he didn't bother change when we had been sitting there for a while, so I just take it that he had a bee in his bonnet because we helped ourself to our sits and maybe took away a little bit of his power aawwwAnyway, it took took 35 minutes before our food to came, I saw others complaining too, Not the I complained but maybe I should have. The lasagne was mediocre, I asked for garlic balls with cheese inside it came without, my fudge cake piece wasn't warmed taste like cold sugar and over £5 for a coffee and mini brownie hilarious!!!!When we left they gave us two coupons for the resturant which I ripped up and lefted as if I'll be going back.

Not my baby but looking after my niece. Still an amateur buggy driver...... we were pushing and pulling creating a stir moving tables and everything. Never the less welcomed with smiles. Child friendly for every age. Dont know if the menu has ever changed but don't know if it needs to to be honest. I get the same pizza and chocolate desert everytime.Nice pizza restaurant. A 'Pizza Express' restaurant situated in a well-heeled residential area of North London.When we arrived for a quick dinner this evening (approx. 7:00pm) it was already really busy with quite a few large family groups, which is nice, but don't go there expecting an intimate meal for two. The atmosphere was pleasant and quite buzzy with still more groups of people arriving.It isn't a massive restaurant but due to it's popularity with the locals the tables are extremely cramped together, with people brushing past you and your food in order to get in and out of their tables.The food is good but not above average and the service is attentive but not intrusive. A good place for family groups and a lively vibe.

We use the Muswell Hill branch regularly with our family including a boisterous 3 year old who likes the chefs hat, crayons and puzzles always offered. Very good choice of menu, lots of special offers and great service from all the staff.

Walked in to be greeted by a staff member (male, dark hair, goatee beard) who walked over blank expression, he stopped before us & didnt even speak. No "Hello, is it a table for 2?" Not even as much as a "Hi" Seated us, my chair had bits of food on the seat which I brushed off.Gave us 2 menus and walked off. No asking us for a drinks order.Left us approx 8 mins still no acknowledgement. Bare in mind there was max 5 tables in, on a Monday afternoon at 3.30pm he was not tending any other table or order. We just got up and left. Again no acknowledgement. No customer service what so ever.We will not be returning.

Love to meet at Pizza Express Whetstone to sit in the garden and chill with the girls. Staff here are really nice and friendly. Service is good, and they look after me being gluten free. Definitely one of the friendliest Pizza Expresses!

Enjoyed a very good welcome despite the fact there were 30+ of us and we arrived a little late. Service was good and the food was promptly served. They even accommodated the birthday preparations without any fuss.

I no longer go to any pizza express as my favourite ( Anchovy pizza ) comes with ONE , yes that's ONE anchovy. It's not a comment on the Muswell Hill branch specifically but I find the food stingy and overpriced. If you're in the area you can get a much better meal for the money just down the Hill at Troodos.

Went to this restaurant with a girlfriend and our 14 year old daughters. The restaurant is light and airy, with booths on the side and lots of mixed tables elsewhere. The service throughout was good and the staff are friendly. We both had the tuna nicoise salad and the girls had margarita pizzas. For the price you pay for this food, the best you can say is that it is average. Most restaurants these days that serve a tuna nicoise salad, has a fresh piece of lightly grilled tuna on top of interesting selections of leaves, tomatoes, cucumber, potato and hardboiled eggs. At Pizza Express, you get a small portion of iceberg lettuce, few tomatoes, one hardboiled egg cut up small, and tinned tuna. There are four miniscule portions of plain pizza to accompany. Disappointing. The margarita pizzas lacked flavour and substance. The tomato sauce was bland, there was not enough cheese and the pizza had not been cut up, so the girls found sawing their way through it difficult. These are not cheap restaurants, but there is so much more choice out in the marketplace, that I will not be returning to a Pizza Express.

Me & my boyfriend have been to this restaurant a few times however we weren't too please when we arrived this time. Now when we arrived the waiter said where would we like to sit, and we said the booths and he said no, we had to sit out in the open. There were 2 booths free and we had sat there all the times before so we were quite angered he said no. Our other waiter however was lovely and had jokes with us. Very lively and got the job done.The food is alright. Quite average but still nice. Ahh but then we did see 2 women get offered one booth and another couple offered another booth and we did feel quite offended seeing as from listening they didn't book and got it ieven though we were there before and asked.

We went there for a meal early on a Saturday night. We were seated at a table near the back of the restaurant next to a table of screaming children so not exactly atmospheric! The service was fairly good considering it was busy. The risotto was quite tasty but my husband's pizza was not that nice at all. Coffee was good but nothing special. Not exactly a memorable experience, needless to say we won't be rushing back.

We've been going to this restaurant since it opened both for couples meals as well as family meals and held a fair number of birthday parties there. The staff are so friendly and treat us like old friends. The food is very good and in all the times we have been there we have never once been disappointed. Service is usually quick which is amazing given how busy the restaurant can get, It is not cheap if you don't use vouchers or special offers so ensure you are on their email list for special offers. It can get very noisy at the front with the parties which I like - gives it a buzz but if you are looking for a quiet chat ask for a table out the back. Definitely one of the better Pizza Express outlets!!

Yummy food, reasonably priced, love their salad dressing. Kids menu is great and excellent value! Eaten here several times and the staff are always very polite and friendly.

Reasonable standard of food, as you'd expect from Pizza Express, pleasant atmosphere and great staff. It can get a bit crazy at weekends, so I'd recommend you try to avoid them if you can!

Ordered a 'Veneziana' pizza late one Sunday, it arrived quickly enough on a hot plate, and was very well cooked as requested. Discussed which pizza was likely to be the most suitable with a friendly enough waitress, who also came back to check that it was OK. It seemed a genuine enquiry too - not just doing the formality. It was good enough all round to leave a reasonable tip, and I wouldn't hesitate to visit again.

I usually love pizza express and usually have no problems (generally). However the service and quality at Muswell Hill branch had dropped serverly. My last visit on 22nd April was markedly different from previous occasions. I admit the were busy but not turning people away or having a long queue waiting for seating. Anyway, it took 5 minutes to get attention before I was offered a seat, at which point the seat was pointed out we were not taken to the seat. It took another 10 minutes before we got someone's attention to take our order, and another 30 - 40 minutes before the food arrived. All of this was done without an apology for the delay.That was almost 1 hour before our meal arrived!!!!People on other tables were also complaining about the length of service.The food was not the same quality as previous visits to this branch or any other, so much that I am personally put off from going to Pizza Express again. I was left with an after taste that I did not like in my mouth for a few hours later. I cannot explain in detail but the overall taste of the pizza I ordered was completely different. When the bill was requested we think the waitress actually forgot as 10 minutes later we needed to ask for it again from a different waitress. By the time the bill came we waited another 15 minutes before they came to accept the payment for the meal. At which point I walked over to the till / service area and asked for payment to be taken, where I was told 'sorry I must serve this food'. I had to find another waitress to take payment.When I said the service was extremely slow and disappointing today she mentione that someone in the kitchen was ill and the manager was in the kitchen (does that mean one staff down and the service and quality drops so significantly?) She did not offer money off the bill or a heartfelt apology.All in all a very disappointing experience.

it can be a bit baby city , so best to take a booth at the back out of the way of all the noisy parties . Pizzas are always nice and staff friendly

If you know and like Pizza Express, you'll find this one of the better ones. But having said that, it's not the best pizza place in Muswell Hill. There's not much to say, it's not bad but it's definitely not amazing.
