Pizza Express in Belfast

I don't usually write negative reviews but we had a bad experience here! I wouldn't recommend this restaurant! - Very poor customer service! This used to be our fav restaurant - not anymore! We had a free dessert birthday voucher to use. We ordered the family bundle deal of 2 pizza's, 2 sides + doughballs. One pizza and the doughballs were ordered GF. The waitress said it was OK to order GF with the deal. After we placed the order - the waitress came back to tell us that the manager had refused us the GF pizza as part of the family bundle deal because it would cost the restaurant too much money giving us the deal with a GF pizza!!! (We should have left at this point!) We then ordered another separate GF pizza along with the family bundle deal, ordering more food! Somehow we were allowed the GF doughballs with the deal! 🤔 Then after the meal, we tried to order our free dessert - the waitress went away to speak to her manager again, then came back to say no, we couldn't receive the free dessert because we got the family bundle deal! First of all, it felt like we were discriminated against for being GF a health condition and costing the restaurant more money on a deal, then we were not entitled to our free birthday dessert! 😕 We ordered enough separate food and drinks to have been able to receive the free dessert! Any meal deals should include all allergies! We left disappointed and regretted even staying to order food! I'd like ask the manager - where is good customer service at??? 🤔 We are going to take this further and will never be back!!!

My partner and I were there last evening for a quick bite, and their pizza gave us both severe food poisoning (it's the only common food we ate!). Not to mention the pizzas itself are quite overpriced for the portion size. I am also quite annoyed that I was charged twice by my bank as it appears the first payment could not go through because their machine was out of charge (why bring it to the table then?). Upon bringing this up I was told that it should reflect in my account by today but nothing so far and I am starting to wonder if I actually just paid twice. I've tried Pizza Express in other cities in the UK, this one was absolutely rubbish.

Absolutely disgraceful restaurant we have been to pizza express’ all over the country no matter how busy they’ve been it’s never been a problem accommodating us. Walked into a restaurant barely 20% full, staff couldn’t be bothered only then for a manager to say they were struggling only two staff on and would be an hour wait at least. In the centre of Belfast, situation needs addressing. Absolutely appalling.

Terrible staff, we come on Saturday 11.30, but they said that some staff is late and they will open later???!!! About 12 or 12.30

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Pizza Express, and I wanted to take a moment to highlight the exceptional service we received from our waitress, Jorja. From the moment we were seated, Jorja greeted us with a warm smile and made us feel right at home. She was attentive without being intrusive, ensuring our drinks were filled and that we had everything we needed throughout our meal. Jorja's knowledge of the menu was impressive; she offered great recommendations and was genuinely enthusiastic about the dishes. Her positive attitude and friendly demeanor added to the overall enjoyable atmosphere of the restaurant. It was clear that she truly cares about her customers and takes pride in her work. I’ve enjoyed pizza express for some time now but I was really disappointed with the service I received in Victoria Square location. We went in to see empty tables and assumed we will get seated, however after standing there for some time and asking a girl for an update, nothing happened. She went off and spoke to someone but never came back to rely the information. More people stood behind us and eventually after 15 min someone walked up and told us place doesn’t have enough cheese to take walk ins. I fully understand these situations happen, yet that should have been appropriately communicated instead of wasting our time. We booked a table in a different pizza express location and enjoyed the pizzas there.

Walked in with my partner to an empty restaurant and was told we needed a booking by an extremely unhelpful rude staff member.

Nipped in with my partner last week for a quick bit of food. We got greeted with very friendly staff and shown to are table. The staff where always coming to the table with a smile on there face when we called them over to ask questions and we have a few dietary requirements. I would highly recommend going here as you will be attended to by the most friendly staff.

Went for a meal on the 19th of November and it was lovely. We had a stater of dough balls in blankets mains of smoky bbq chicken pizza and pollo pesto and dessert we shared the snowball dough ball wreath. The staff was really friendly and the restaurant looked so clean Defo recommend

Called for lunch last week whilst shopping. PizzaExpress in Belfast is always great, but this one was brilliant. Waiter recommended sharing a pizza and sides to have a nice selection and it was really tasty. Good value when using the app.

Me and my friend had an American pizza with dough balls and a tomato dip during our trip to Belfast. It was probably the best pizza we’ve had in a while and I hope to visit again whenever I go to Belfast.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was good, but the restaurant was a mess. Dirty abandoned tables everywhere. I nearly walked out before being sat down. Made the place feel a bit cheap, which is not what I would expect from Pizza Express

Visited Pizza Express Victoria Sq Belfast and after a short wait we were taken to a table. The waiter had dropped the cloth on the floor and then proceeded to wipe the table with this. The food was cold when it was brought out and we did not have any cutlery on the table. Quite disappointed to be honest.

Después de sentarnos, esperamos pacientemente durante 30 minutos sin que nadie viniera a tomar nuestra orden, ni siquiera para tomar unas copas. El restaurante estaba moderadamente ocupado, pero no hasta el punto en que el servicio debería haberse paralizado. Lo que lo empeora es la falta de reconocimiento de ningún funcionario. No hubo disculpas, ni seguridad de que alguien estaría con nosotros en breve, nada. Se sentía como si fuéramos invisibles. Después de media hora de espera sin señal de servicio, no tuvimos más remedio que irnos. Una cosa es esperar durante las horas pico, pero no ser reconocido en absoluto es inaceptable. Pizza Express necesita abordar estos problemas de servicio, o corren el riesgo de perder más clientes que vienen por una experiencia agradable y se van con decepción en su lugar.

Pizza was overdone and although I asked for a classic it was very obvious it was thin based, overall food was nowhere near normal standard, also mains were brought out while we were still eating our starters, poor standard for the price

We were a party of 14 this evening and I have to say that we were all hugely impressed with everything. Service was fantastic, staff couldn’t have been more helpful, food was delicious and it was all so efficient! Very impressed!

Very expensive Pizza for such a small size and thinness. One of us ordered the lasagne. It was flat, no real layers, with very little meat in it and tough. Looked and tasted like a cheap microwave version. They could not eat it. We all had to go and get something else to eat when we left. Would not recommend to anyone.

Lovely atmosphere, excellent staff and great food!

Hadn't been here for a while so surprised at how prices had gone up. I ordered a classic pizza which was OK but a little bit crisper and slightly burnt on half of the crust, than I would have liked for a thicker based one. I ordered toppings for my margarita and got a reasonable amount of chilli but very few olives. Great dessert though. Nice bottle of red wine but overpriced in my opinion, but that's the way eating out is these days I'm told! Staff as always are lovely and restaurant was clean and bright.

It was my first time trying Pizza Express (like I told the lady wearing a green shirt, who I assume was a manager on duty) and it will most definitely be my last! My sons & my niece were also adamant that they wouldn’t be back either. How disappointing. Firstly we sat for a lifetime watching staff walk past us while we waited for our order to be taken. Then the drinks we asked for were not brought. Then one pizza arrived on its own, they forgot our starters, and said kid had the pizza eaten by the time everyone else’s arrived in dribs and drabs. We were one pizza short and we had to go ask for that and our starters, which took donkeys to be sorted too) they are called starters for a reason! Staff were standing about talking to each-other and not really keeping an eye on tables or customers. Then there seems to be no notion of what anyon needs to be doing and what plates are delivered to tables one at a time! So strange. And long waits between each. That’s not how anyone wants to eat when out with family.. Then they forgot to bring the deserts, and by that stage I had had enough. I asked for them to be taken off my bill. Girl came to the table and not even an apology after I communicated to a staff member (quite nicely) that I thought our experience had been really awful. Plenty of empty tables too, so not to say that they were at capacity, plus they had plenty of staff on. The pizza I got was rotten too, and all watery on the top. Only ate it because I was absolutely starving after the wait. I just can’t believe how awful the service was. Won’t ever be back.

My family's visit to Pizza Express in Belfast's Victoria Square was an amazing experience from start to finish. The place looks lovely. Shown to the table and ordered food as usual. When get got to the table the came with water and glasses we had to send all the glasses back as clearly not clean When the food arrived two people with same pasta dishes but different sizes one looked like for a child. Trust me it was super small We asked the waitress and she said that's the size but was unable to explain the size difference. She then said I go and ask the kitchen but she never re returned to our table. She kept walking past with no eye contact. Secondly they forgot my child's small pizza when asked it in the oven 15 mins later it came.to the table when everyone nearly finished. Not even an apology I always say I will.give a second chance but not this time service poor and food poor

Ordered gluten free dough balls for 4 servings, I was sent 10 dough balls. Have ordered this before and it was a ton of them. This time not so much. Charged 15 pounds for 10 small balls of bread. Totally ridiculous and the phone number to contact the store is not working. Very disappointed.

Me and my friends went in here the other day we are not messers or anything like that we where simply going in to get a bit of food and they would not let us in they said u have to be 18+ to go into the restaurant I already know that that’s simply not true!!

Arrived at 8.30pm having come from conference at ICC. Told on arrival that the place was due to close at 9pm which didn't feel very welcoming. Ordered salads/calamari so would be quick and was around 9.10pm when left. Very hard to find places open for dinner after long conference days which given there were over 1000 delegates at ICC for 3+ days, seemed a little shortsighted as delegates had complained about this last year so a list had been compiled of places open later. 9pm in a capital city with a major conference (the largest meeting of LC specialists in Europe) for its second consecutive year seems a little off. It's due to return next year so maybe some restaurants could consider later opening especially as this was in a shopping centre, surrounding a cinema and other eateries.

We came to Pizza express on Ester Sunday when we were in Belfast on holiday. We booked online. It didn’t need to as it wasn’t busy with it being Easter Sunday. Was greeted on entry and lead to a table of our choice. Didn’t wait long for our food, (it was really quiet). Pizzas were really tasty and my daughter’s gluten free pasta bolognaise was good too. Great service, lovely food. Thank you

Got a order last night absolutely a disaster food came late and freezing asked for no olives came with olives it was all put in bin still waiting on Claire phoning my wife back as she was talking to her still no phone call.it ruined are Friday night we where so looking forward to.

very dirty water glasses. There is no sugar with the coffee. pizza taste 5/10. one pizza extra thin, like a sheet of paper. the price is very high. I don't recommend it.

We had a lovely family meal to celebrate our son's 14th birthday. The food was great but what really made it special was the super service we received from Erin! Thank you, we will definitely be back!

Do not go here. You are better off eating McDonald’s. Paid £14.75 for a pepperoni pizza and a tiny garlic dip. It’s a steal of your money for tiny food which tastes mediocre. Please go elsewhere - I mean it

Great place , fresh & bright interior. Staff were attentive & were a hit with my children especially with the extra effort they put into the deserts.

We ate pizza exactly an hour after we ordered and the pizza was not worth that much money.

We ordered a margarita and pepperoni 10” pizzas, dough balls and garlic potatoes. The food came very quick and was warm, pizza was lovely but the dough balls were plain and dry and not to mention the garlic potatoes barely tasted of garlic.

Sat down after we booked the table and was given menus and then asked to leave because of the leak in the kitchen that the staff should of known before we actually sat down. Very embarrassing Never back, very unprofessional

Food was bland and flavourless, it was really loud (I know that’s not the employees fault but I thought I’d let you know), yet nice vibe.

We have dined in this Pizza Express, Victoria Square many times over the years. Last night we did and the food was excellent, service was great. As always pizza express maintains a high service. I just feel awful because last night it was super super busy, the staff rushed off their feet and the people sitting at the table next to us did not feel as appreciative of what the staff were up against and made quite a fuss for the manager. Albeit they were compensated accordingly very generously. But my one regret is the fact we, ourselves had no cash on us to leave a tip and my partner who paid forgot to do a gratuity on the machine as he assumed I had cash for the tip. Super sorry about that!! We always tip well and this is the first time we haven’t. But thank you for an absolutely top notch meal and the ever friendly and professional service.

Portions are so smalls, you’ll need a rescue team to find chickens on your pizza :)) also I had better margarita from aldi before

Cubanira pizza really zings with lime and coriander

The worst pizza I ever had, thinner than a single sheet of copying paper, takes ages to chew, tomato sauce only at the crust..20 grams of chicken on the whole pizza, what killed me is the sauce that costs 75p, I would say it was like 5-7 grams, barely enough for one slice of pizza. And you have to slice your pizza yourself, it took me longer than eating it. Prices are different inside then what’s advertised outside the restaurant. Rip off, shame. Don’t recommend to go eat there to anyone.

We visited pizza express victoria square last evening we got a table and chose what we wanted, sat for AT LEAST 15 minutes no waitress... ended up having to leave 😕really disappointing 😞

A mejorar mucho. Como se aprecia en las fotos la cantidad de las raciones es diminuta, más aún, canija. Se pueden poner raciones pequeñas pero no a esos precios. Sale mucho mejor cenar en cualquier pub irlandes que en este restaurante. Hay wifi buena. Los camareros bien. El ambiente es muy justo. Nada mas entrar nos encontramos las mesas de la entrada sucias. No nos atrevimos a pedir postre por si nos lo sacaban minipostre. Por cierto, la carta de fuera, la de la puerta ,no coincide con la carta de dentronde la mesa.Para mejorar muchísimo.

Pizza Express can be pretty hit or miss but thankfully we caught them on a good day! Shame that their UniDays offer wasn't exactly as described but still a fair enough price.

Busy when we arrived but a very friendly and efficient girl at the door arranged for us to come back at 7.30 when a table would be available. There were 6 of us and we got a table when we returned. Service was quick, efficient and friendly. Food was very good and plentiful. One of the children spilt their drink and they were straight over to clean up and with no fuss - the chap was so helpful - no drama. Really pleasant experience.

Visited Pizza Express with my daughter and 3 grandchildren last nite after the cinema in Victoria Centre Belfast. Stood at the door quite a while before any staff came to take us to a table. We were trying to complete an offer of 2 free starters for recommending a friend to the Pizza Express App and as the Waiter came to take our order we asked for his help to complete getting this offer and he had no interest and shook his head. We ordered our food without the offers being included. The pizzas came and were small in size for the cost but did taste nice. We had to try and get attention of waiter for the children's courses every time even though the restaurant wasnt packed and plenty empty tables. I felt the atmosphere wasn't good and the staff couldn't be bothered . 😕

Whatever you do, do not order from this restaurant from Uber Eats more than an hour late, no option to pay by card through the app, when you call they don’t answer the phone. Terrible service.

If I could give 10 stars I would. The team here came in clutch after we were severely let down by our booking for another restaurant in the vicinity. They couldn’t sit us despite having a booking. We went up to Pizza Express, asked if they could sit 8 of us and that we had been let down by another place and that the dinner was a very important one. We were sat very quickly, and the food was amazing, everyone was so so happy. The staff were lovely to us and made everything very easy. If you are trying to decide between Pizza Express and another Italian restaurant in close proximity…go Pizza Express, you won’t be let down

It was lovely food all round there was 4 off us and wee just ordered a few different dishes. And 2 pizza and drinks as well. It all comes to just over £111. Pounds. I think it was good price for what wee got. Ps the lad that served us was called James. No matter the price or food. If you get good staff then it makes all round💯and a great nite. A big 👍to this one.

Visited on a Wednesday evening. Promptly seated and order taken. Lasagne was very good, £13.95, but quite small. Sides not included, these are generally £4.95 and also quite small. Cider £5.95 for 500ml.

Cannot beat a good thin crust pizza from Pizza express. Loved the cute touch to the dough balls at the time of our visit - literal heart shaped in prep for Valentine's. Always a great starter all year round, or as a pudding when winter comes up

Had a terrible dinner experience here last week. The food tasted good, but the second round of appetizers came barely warm. Service was terrible in spite of only 4-5 tables being occupied. "Warm" brownie had come straight out of the fridge. When we mentioned it to the waitress during payment, she just said she hadn't prepared it. No apologies, no mention of passing it on. Not one person there wants to do their job.

pizza is a joke ... I visited many establishments and restaurants but nowhere have I encountered such ignoring of the customer ... pizza is just a name ... its size is laughable, for such a price with dominoes I will get a delicious large pizza with toppings and sauces and here's something funny... I don't recommend it, I'll never come again, I'm surprised that such a place exists in the center of Belfast and is called a pizzeria.

Had a lovely meal for two on a very busy Saturday night, we were sat quickly and James our waiter was very friendly and looked after us well. A real credit to your company!

Very nice staff. The pizzas are fantastic, the crust was very thin but elastic, excellent! I tried the Padana, great mix of vegetables, cheese and the onion. The caprese salad was good. Recommended!

Just received half of a £60 order via Deliveroo. My wife placed the order and I collected at the hotel door. I could only understand 2 words that the Deliveroo deliverer said and that was eight and zero; my order number. Myself and my son now starving.

Staff were all very friendly and the service was very good in a busy environment too. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience, would recommend and will be back I’m sure.

It really did warrant more photos. We were here on Saturday night before the waterfront as a couple and then returned the next day with 9 family members, 7 kids and two babies. The food was amazing but what really made it was the staff who really catered to all our needs as well as being very patient 😀 what to try? Any of the Romana Pizzas, Polenta Fries, Raw Slaw and the Pollo Pesto 🤗

My daughter and I just spent the loveliest couple of hours this afternoon at Pizza Express. The food was excellent, really good quality pasta dishes and so tasty. Excellent wine selection and such lovely staff. This is a repeat visit and was every bit as good an experience as on the previous occasion. I thought it was worth posting a review to recommend the food, the drink and the first class service.

We went for lunch and enjoyed our meal. It was satisfactory and filling. My chicken Caesar salad was very nice though they had run out of some items and had to use rocket and spinach in it. The place was clean but possibly short staffed. The man serving us was a bit overwhelmed I think trying to take orders, take payment and seat customers.

Omg absolutely overpriced got small gluten free paetsa for myself ,1 medium for my grandchildren ,my husband had a portion of lasagne ,4 fanta 52 pounds ,so sorry I didnt question the receipt no item prices on bill . I should have trusted my gut when we asked for few sides they said they had ran out of them didn't sound good ,v small portions and extremely overpriced will definitely not be back. Staff were nice that Is the only positive in our experience today .☹️

Fantastic! The food was perfect but our waiter was amazing too. He went above and beyond and he made the experience even better due to his attentiveness. My niece usually gets her pizza without cheese. She loved the pizza and ate most of it and she said that’s unlike her as she usually doesn’t eat much of pizza at all. She was nervous that she might not be able to get the pizza she wanted because she doesn’t like cheese but our waiter was brilliant and accommodating and he also checked she didn’t have any allergies.

Had a lovely afternoon at pizza express in Victoria square. Food and service was 100% the waiter went above and beyond even though they had a great selection for vegans he was able to offer a pizza that wasn't on the menu with no issues. Well worth a visit great to see staff happy at work 😁

Not my first visit, but I think it might be the last. Called in with my better half with a craving for some desert combined with true Italian coffee and to my amazement I was informed by the "manager" that "this is a restaurant not a coffee shop". Try not to leave poor reviews but definitely this lass has no clue what "hospitality" means. And I definitely don't need to be "educated" by a person at least half my age and with no idea about what she was talking about. Poor show on all accounts.

Cramped seating, burnt pizza and £2.80 per small drink. 30 quid for a light lunch for me and my 14 year old daughter is a bit ridiculous really.
