As a Gold Member of Pizza Express's Reward Scheme I was very disappointed in the service which was offered to us during this visit to this restaurant during the 1940's Wartime Weekend event. We were greeted in an unfriendly manner by a female member of staff - who sat us at a dirty table which hadn't been cleaned or set for service - wasn't asked if we had any allergies - waited 20 minutes before a male server arrived to take our order - we informed him about the state of the table as he hadn't picked up on it - Order was placed with the server - but it seemed like nobody wanted to be working that day - The Restaurant wasn't busy - food arrived but I've had better in other Pizza Expresses - wasn't asked by any member of staff was everything OK and did we need anything - TBH we couldn't wait to finish the meal and pay the bill...Its a shame that we had this experience from the staff as we've been several times before and the service was excellent - but it will be a while now before we go back..unfortunately...

We were visiting Lytham for the 1940's festival so knowing that the town would be packed, we decided to book a table for 1.30pm rather than trying to find somewhere. As we walked in we noticed a few of their outside tables were occupied by families eating their meal deals from the shops near by !! We entered and we very surprised by how quiet it was inside for a Saturday anyway let alone when such a large and well attended event was happening. We sat at our table and the waiter asked if we wanted to order drinks, which we did, and said he'll be across to take our food order shortly. He returned with our drinks in good time and then asked if we were ready to order our food. It was only now that he informed us that they had no pepperoni so several of the dishes were unavailable. We were surprised, but also annoyed that this had not been told to us before we ordered our drinks as we would probably have left and gone elsewhere. Our son only ever has a pepperoni pizza so he then had to go through the menu again looking for an alternative. It appears their delivery that morning had not included pepperoni which seems very strange and is certainly something that as Manager I would have sorted out in time for lunchtime service by nipping out and getting some. At the very least, this fact should have been made clear to us upon arrival or perhaps a board outside as this is perhaps the most popular choice of topping. While waiting for our food, we sat and watched as people were told of the situation and their faces dropped. In honesty, the whole place seemed to be run very badly. We were sat close to the drinks prep area and the staff were moaning and groaning away, dropping drinks, huffing and puffing and giving off a generally disorganised vibe. They had also ran out of Soda water, again available literally next door from Sainsburys. The pizzas we had were, as usual, gorgeous and in fact the Calzone my son chose (minus the pepperoni) was a surprising hit which we'd have again, IF we ever come here again. Pizza Express need to sort things out, pushing twenty pounds for a pizza is very expensive, I'm sure it's the Tesco vouchers that keep them going, hence the prices charged, but they no longer offer the value they once did and I can see them being withdrawn altogether eventually.

Arrived at 9:15pm as the restuarant advertised 10pm closing - staff refused us entry as kitchen had already closed - very disappointing.

after an afternoon at the air show me and my friend decided to have something local and we decided to have some pizza. Arrived at 21:10 although the closing program is 22:00 we been told that not enough staff to serve - very disappointing

Great place to take children with their dedicated menu and activity worksheet. Pizzas and dough balls are excellent.

A nice place that's tucked away to the side from the busy centre. The place itself is alright, fairly small but with excellent staff service. The food was unfortunately mediocre, the garlic bread was fairly small from what typical garlic bread is like and the Polenta chips came with the tiniest dash of mozzarella cheese but loaded with rosemary which overpowered any possible flavour. The pizzas however were wonderful as ever, delicious through and through!

Excellent tasty delicious food. Lovely pizzas and so nice the dough balls and would recommend the biscoff sundae . Very clean staff are very friendly. Going back again .

Book ahead to avoid disappointment as it gets very busy. The all round experience is very good from the service ( especially from the lovely polish waitress, sorry I forgot your name ) to the food especially the pizzas, which were delicious together with a side salad were perfect. Lots of people were having three courses which for us was a lot of food. All round a very enjoyable evening.

This Pizza Express is in a lovely old building & we really enjoy eating here when we're in the area. We were a group of 4 adults, 2 children & a baby. We enjoyed the usual excellent standard of Pizza Express food, with the highlight being the great value kids meals with the activity packs. However on this occasion the service was quite slow despite the restaurant being small, and also the baby changing room/disabled toilet was dirty. I would definitely give 5 out of 5 if these small issues were fixed. Thank you for a lovely meal!

We stayed in Lytham for the weekend and visited some good, but fairly expensive restaurants. Sunday evening, and we just wanted some tasty, well cooked food, and that is exactly what we got. I had pizza, and my husband had lasagne. Both were well cooked and hot. One of the reasons for my 5* review is the behaviour and attitude of the waiting on staff. They were so friendly and helpful and made us feel so welcome. They checked several times that all diners were happy, and they were constantly cleaning and restocking to ensure things ran smoothly. I've been to a few Pizza Express over the years, but this one stood out from the others as the staff really seemed to care and take pride in their work. I will certainly eat there again when we return to Lytham.

Nice place for pizza. Service and food excellent. Loved the dough balls and thin crispy pizza. Not noisy when we were there - easy to talk to our group. Quite pricy for pizza but Lytham seems quite expensive to eat out so on a par with other restaurants in the area.

Food is OK. Nothing exceptional but perfectly fine. Prices average. Received a warm welcome and received good service. Waitress was chewing gum though which is not acceptable whilst working in a Restaurant!

Great food but very expensive. I had a chicken with pasta dish, was lovely ,husband had pizza , 1 drink, 1 starter 1 sweet was just under £60. Staff were great and very friendly.

Most people complain that it is too pricey, however, the quality of food and the atmosphere justify the price in my opinion. Proper Italian food is served here. The open kitchen gives an honest touch to it.

Wow. Think this is my favourite Pizza Express to date. Food was really fresh, staff were really attentive and a really nice buzz with extra attention given to a birthday group whilst I was there. Will certainly look to come back if I need to head up north again.

Honestly such an amazing place for a kids party making pizzas amazing staff all so friendly too 😁

Popped in for a takeout the boss Olivia (sp) looked after me got me a beer and sat and chatted with me.All the team are lovely and really chatty ..and the pizza is awesome

Restaurant felt cold draughty , we were near kitchen and the back door we were in view of dustbins mops , and cold draught , too expensive vegetarian aubergine tomatoe mozzarella was over £15 , pizza all over £15 , won’t go again . Staff nice friendly that was the best but nit the food .

Really enjoyed our experience here… professional and knowledgeable staff - the restaurant was clean and welcoming. Marta was exceptional in her attention to detail to ensure we had a lovely meal. So glad Pizza Express is still in Lytham! Only thing we would have liked would have been a better selection of vegan desserts .

It was very busy but staff were apologetic as we waited quite some time. The food was okay but the Pizzas overpriced. The thin and crispy Margarita was not as good as my local at £4.50. One granddaughter had spaghetti carbonara and the portion was quite small and wouldnt have filled an adult even though both granddaughters ate from the adult menu. I was astounded at the prices of everything! It was a treat for myself and my granddaughters so I didn't want to object to desserts but they were £7.95. I would suggest getting the bill whilst sitting at the table as I paid at the till adding on £10 but could have already had a service charge added on which I would have seen. Total bill £102.

Fancied something other than the usual so decided on a Pizza and in fairness Pizza Express are one of my favourite. We had the dog with us so sat outside, shame they don't make the best of the space as it could be a lovely place to sit by choice rather than just because you have a dog with you. The pizzas were gorgeous and well cooked as they can sometimes arrived with burnt edges and base. I had the Reine which comes with mushrooms, ham and olives, and I always go for the Romana style, thinner and crispier. My wife had the pizza were they removed the centre and fill it with salad. She enjoyed her pizza apart from the strange taste which we later put down to the garlic oil they pour on unless you tell them otherwise (which we forgot to) Overall a very enjoyable meal, expensive for pizza but we always use our Tesco vouchers, we'd probably go elsewhere if they stop accepting them

I have to say what a fantastic team at this pizza express in lytham, we took our grandchildren in today, and our 3 year old granddaughter was really tired and hungry and very very cranky!! All the staff were absolutely brilliant with us, we would have struggled without their help as we had our Grandson with us who is autistic , but he was a little superstar! The staff made sure the food was cooled down enough for the children, and made sure everything was perfect for us, we can't thank them enough! Well done to all the staff!

Really good customer service and the food was great! Never been asked if we want black pepper in all the time we’ve visited any pizza express up and down the country, also brought garlic and chilli oil to the table which doesn’t normally happen. The two ladies looking after us were really tentative and made the experience a pleasure. Thank you pizza express

Bad experience from start to finish. We visited as a family and ordered from the children's menu they did not want a starter so we ordered main and dessert . We were not told that to not order a starter should make the food more expensive and not the 7.75 per the children's set menu .When our food came o my carbonara had parmesan cheese on the top -we had not been asked if we wanted this, we did not mention this but let it go as normally they offer if you would like this seasoning. When we received the bill it was more than expected as it had itemised the children's main and dessert individually resulting in a higher priced bill. I spoke to a older lady who had no customer service whatsoever. She told us it was because we didn't have the dough balls with the children's menu ,we explained we hadn't been told this. As far as customer service goes it is non existent. The fact it had not been explained which the male waiter acknowledged and apologised he hadn't informed us you would of thought that the senior older lady would of waivered this due to us not being aware. The restaurant was very empty and this now on hindsight should of been a sign to avoid. My daughter said she would leave a review regarding this and another lady said she could give us the dough balls to take with us. As stated above we didn't want the starter , we wanted the children's menu price which was displayed per the leaflet given and no mention of not having the starter effecting this offer. We are local so they have lost repeat custom and word of mouth will clearly not be positive.

Great for a meal out with the kids

Lytham Pizza Express was lovely, had great food on a separate vegan menu, attentive staff and a nice ambience. We very much enjoyed our meal there.

Tasha was amazing today really made us feel at home was our first meal out with our child after she was diagnosed with coeliac diseases Tasha made us feel so confident everything was fine and made my daughter feel special keeping her in the conversation

Ordered a mushroom pizza for delivery. It consisted of a paper thin soggy crust with tomatoes sauce, possibly 2 thinly cut mushrooms and no cheese! For £16!! To cap it all the pizza was stone cold and totally tasteless! AN ABSOLUTE RIP OFF.

We had a lovely meal here last Friday 28th July after ringing up shortly before to book a table. Both the waitress Debra and the manager were extremely friendly and the pizza's and pasta meals we ordered were amazing! We will definitely be back next time we visit the area on holiday.

Ate at a table outside on a rare sunny day, as we had our dog with us. Nipped in for menus and our server, Natasha popped out to take our order. We were impressed! Very friendly and so knowledgeable about the menu and toppings on the pizzas. Asked her name as wanted to leave a review about what a great server she was - thank you 😊

Great restaurant located in lytham, nice ambiance, a bit crowded due to size of the restaurant, but the restaurant has got a bit of character. Buth vegetarian and vegan Pizzas were nicely made.

Went at probably the busiest time, during Lytham Festival pre gig. Staff sorted out additional guests joining us, service was effortless and quick. Food as usual was great. Full vegan menu.

The pizzas were tasty, and the staff were friendly. The downside was the steep stairs to access the toilets. Having said that, there was a disabled toilet on the ground floor.

We had a lovely meal for a double birthday celebration. Debra was amazing. She looked after us perfectly & was super friendly. My daughter has additional needs & can find eating out challenging. We’ll definitely be back.

I just heard that you let go of your previous Chef Michael, who was a sociopath, narcissist, and unstable human-being who was arrested for attacking his mum and trying to kill his little brother. My apologies as it seems like there is a good reason why my last visit had a bad vibe. I would imagine having him on your team would've been difficult. With him gone, I will give your Pizza Place another try soon. Be careful and do NOT let him back into your business.

The usual.... But that usual is pretty good. Great for the family, consistant quality and friendly staff. Fiorentina on a Romania base is the way to go. Ask for your egg to be gently done but don't ask for an extra egg.... They charge you for a dozen!

My son had an amazing time making pizzas here as part of a home education group today, the staff are so lovely and helpful and the place is so tidy and clean! The pizzas tasted so good too!

Food always nice and the service we never seem to have an issue with so deserves 5 stars in our opinion. Pizzas are really good, we tend to have the spicy pizza which always gets the taste buds going.

We often go to Pizza Express for a quality pizza and reasonable environment. Bit posher than Mc Donalds. Sat 4th 8pm. I ordered the Leggera Padana, and paid £2 for extra onions as the last visit I needed a magnifying glass to find them. In summary all toppings were scarce (remember I have a hole in the middle) The goats cheese was so thinly sliced it had evaporated and there were about 6 slivers. The extra onion was a good choice as there was so little I wonder what the order would have been without paying an extra £2. The prices have gone up like their Rocket - but Rocket is not so easy to notice! I appreciate times are hard but if you are selling a pizza I suggest you put some topping on it. Extremely disappointing. My starter the king prawns - was a joke I had to look for the prawns that were cut up into pieces, and probably 5 in total - if that. it was covered is salsa to fill the very small dish - AND it was cold,AND the dish was stone cold. Definitely not good value for money. How much is a pizza base with a hole in the middle. Pizza Express you are taking the Pizza! you used to be a safe bet for a reasonable meal at a reasonable price. Not anymore

Really enjoyed dining here last night , the table service was quick & friendly with recommendations and flexibility really professional from EMMA & ADAM . The pizzas were SUPERB ,Romano light & crispy American hot with rocket side & dough balls , all washed down with a really lovely red Marche Rosso , the 3 chefs are really good , thanks to WAGDI , ALLI & JEN . All round highly recommended , we will return .

We go to this pizza express whenever we can. We were sad when the one in Blackpool closed as that’s was the nearest one to us but it’s worth the travel to go the this pizza express. The staff are amazing , the service is brilliant and the food is really good quality and value for money. The building itself is really unique and the atmosphere is beautiful. Just love it. The pizza club on the app is great! Lots of free offers on sides and desserts.

We were greeted in the most welcoming of manners and served by Debra. Debra was the most attentive, kind and courteous member of staff and it made our visit, to be served by such a friendly individual! Nothing was too much trouble for her and she was constantly smiling and incredibly approachable! A superstar member of the team!

We booked this restaurant before going to see the lights on Blackpool. The arancini were new on the menu and I love them…..not these. It was obvious they were pre cooked and had been reheated and they were barely warm and so soggy. My pizza had so many strong herbs on it was barely edible and was burnt round the edge. My sons pasta was so bland. It hasn’t been in other restaurants. In addition to this, our waiter couldn’t have been less interested in serving us and rushed everything so he could stand around and talk to the other waiters. Our kids love pizza express but this was such a let down compared to our visits to other restaurants.

Just enjoyed a lovely evening at Pizza Express Lytham , a really nice restaurant , ALL the staff were fantastic , working so hard under pressure but with a smile as the restaurant was busy even on a Monday evening . Our Pizzas were perfection and superb , my Calabrese was awesome and good lady's American Hot with Ruccola salad was the best ever . Huge thanks to the two hero's serving the tables , LINA & EMMA and not forgetting the super chefs , WAGDI & MICK . HIGHLY RECOMMENDED .

Being hubby's birthday we decided on Lytham today, to eat and get the birthday prosseco. We dragged my brother and sister along as they had the 2 for 1 voucher. However the manager did not allow us to have separate bills and had to pay full price. An expensive pizza for my brother and sister, very upsetting for us as he was quite rude and did not even apologise for his nastiness. If I had had my way I would have walked out and not bothered eating. Leeds and Manchester have always been brilliant. The poor lad who served us couldn't apologise enough pity he's not the manager as he was really pleasant-we will not be back to Lytham Pizza Express

This place is expensive for the portion sizes. Drinks are expensive. Place is small and noisy and service slow. Pizzas are small and the pasta was tasteless. Wont be visiting again.
