Ok … just. Attended for a family birthday. Waiter taking our order was grumpy. Starters came out piecemeal. Waiters came to clear starter plates away before our party had finished eating. Felt rushed. Waiter serving main courses didn’t know what was coming out so ended up effectively saying ‘whose is this?’ No cutlery without asking a few times. Hair in one of the main courses. Couple of the main courses bland. To be fair, some of the meals nice. Overall, not the best experience for the price point. Just not great service. We have been before a few times so sad to be disappointed.

Would not even give one star for service but have to do that this review can be published!!! We have not been here since the refit and thought we’d try it for my daughter’s birthday. My daughter asked to sit outside and she was greeted with disapproval so they decided inside for a party of 8 and the only people in the restaurant. They took forever to take our drinks order and hurried with the starters and told us we had to order mains as the chef was going on his break! They forgot some of our cocktails and even water for the table. Food was nothing special, overpriced and bland. We were not asked if our meal was ok. They happily took my daughter’s cake but did not want to give any plates etc unless we ordered desert which we did. Let’s say I made many trips to the counter for things they forgot. They greeted other diners happily and very friend lychee but this is definitely chosen behaviour depending on if they order wine etc freely. They did not say goodbye and I did not leave a tip! Just a sour taste from awful and rude staff! It’s safe to say I WILL NOT BE RETURNING! All in all awful and the price you pay we will not be returning to that branch and will perhaps try Lichfield branch

Lovely restaurant and can't believe we hadn't been before. Good menu choices for vegetarians and very reasonably priced. Excellent service and delicious food so would highly recommend. Lovely decor inside the restaurant and gorgeous outside covered seating area as well.

Not quite sure why so many people think the food here is great, essentially you could recreate most of it at home by boiling some pasta and then adding melted butter and any other desired ingredients. Nothing special, probably survives on the fact that there are no other local competitors so it doesn’t really need to be that good. The “sommelier” sold us a £50 bottle of wine which was fairly average, before he even opened it he was trying to get us to reserve a second bottle behind the bar because he only had one left (if you believe that). We politely declined. The highlight of the evening was the fact that our drinks arrived with a clueless waiter who had no idea what any of them were, he just presented them to us and we had to guess which was which. It did provide some entertainment and luckily no one on our table had allergies (which could have been quite dangerous). The food as mentioned above, was poor. Cheap ingredients, everything was quite oily (more butter oil than olive oil). In summary, I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant. If you want a better and cheaper alternative I’d recommend turning your hob on at home and boiling some pasta, then add whatever sauce and ingredients you want at the end. It’s hard to go wrong…

We recently visited Pizza by Goli to celebrate my husband’s birthday with our friends, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the warm and inviting atmosphere, as well as the stunning restaurant design. The food was absolutely fantastic – everything was incredibly fresh, delicious, and of the highest quality. Each dish we ordered exceeded our expectations, showcasing the true art of pizza making. Moreover, the staff were exceptionally kind and friendly, making us feel right at home. Their attentiveness and genuine hospitality added a special touch to our evening. Overall, Pizza by Goli provided us with an amazing dining experience that we will cherish. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for great food and a welcoming environment.

Although the food and service were good we felt scammed because we were persuaded to order more expensive wine and side orders. Their trick is to get you to order something that you assume is included but then you get charged a lot extra for.

Only been once but the Carbonara is delicious and the beer cold, perfect.

Pizza by Goli is a regular spot for us, and we have never been disappointed with the food. The staff is always good, and the food is consistently delectable, making it a reliable choice for a satisfying meal.

We hired out the private room downstairs for a surprise bday party for 23 people. The 2 dedicated servers were fantastic throughout, very accommodating and helpful. The staff paid particular attention to dietary requirements which was crucial and appreciated. Food is always fantastic and good portions. (Try the arranchini) ! Great night and honestly couldnt recommend this place more!

Walked in felt like they were racist and islamophobic we came at 10 workers mouth dropped clearly and said the chef can’t take ordered due to being brown honestly disgusting

These guys are theifs. They got us sat down for dinner and then the waiter was so demeaning. we gave our order and then he altered it himself. He added Arancini and charged us £22. We didnt even order it Then he had the nerve to ask for a tip. We also asked for tap water and they charged for bottled water and said it was the policy. AVOID THIS PLACE BY ALL COSTS. ALL THEY WANT IS MONEY. The food is ok but they wont think twice to pull wool over your eyes be careful

Highly recommend and the refurbishment makes it the best place in Sutton to go for a special occasion.

Absolutely lovely meal at Pizza by Goli, our second visit and again we were super impressed with the quality, quantity and service at this Sutton Coldfield gem. We started with garlic bread and arancini. Both starters hit the spot and felt freshly made. We opted for pasta and risotto for mains. Tasted so authentic and full of flavour. We will be back again soon as our son now wants to join us on our next visit. Service was incredible throughout our meal. Thanks Pizza by Goli

Found the pizza quite dry, my allergy was also not well catered for. Instead of swapping for a white sauce, they simply just had cheese on bread. Staff were keen to upsell, for example giving us bottled water when we had asked for tap. Have been highly recommended, but unfortunately not for me. The tables have a glass top with pasta underneath, however there was also glass (I presume from a previous table stop smash) surrounding the pasta. Was also wrongly charged for an item which I didn't realise until much later. Was quickly rectified, thankfully. Very nice pudding!

Amazing service and really friendly staff. The food was excellent. I had the pasta with salmon it was lush.

The place has been redecorated so it looks nicer. The food, however, has lost its quality. Pizza By Goli use to have massive portions of delicious Italian food. Now it's over priced, small portions of mediocre food served by a lazy staff. They all seem to congregate together at the reception or the bar but don't serve the customers. The service was pretty bad, to be honest....

Lovely place to eat and celebrate my birthday

20/04/24 - Our family of 13 gathered to celebrate our lovely Matriach's 85th birthday. All our meals were served quickly with smiles and politeness by the waitresses (except for one waiter who was a lil grumpy). The food was well cooked and very very nice indeed. A happy and cheerful atmosphere 😊 Thank you Goli

15£ for a beer, a place not to come back. Pizza, quiero standard, nothing special, possibly the bread is bought not even done by them. Kids pizza, smaller porción, same prize... Nice atmosphere but I wouldn't recommend it

What a lovely place to eat. We went on a Friday evening and I'm glad we booked as it was busy at 6.30pm. I had the lasagna and garlic bread with cheese which was the size of a pizza so definitely for sharing. The food was amazing. I've never had lasagna like it, it was delicious. The restaurant itself is very welcoming and the staff were courteous and friendly. Will definitely go again

My Mom was Italian my tomato sauce is so much better and pasta was fine, the waitress was rude. Had an attitude please catch up its 2024 My daughter is mixed race and the waitress had a problem. Hate that when you go into a place and there is a problem, I could feel it her hostility. We should of walked out.

This restaurant lives upto all of the reviews and it is a perfect place to go for a casual dinner, perfect for a date night, family dinner, friends catchup etc. The food and drinks were delicious, service was fantastic. Highly recommend choosing their Garlic bread. One of the best I've ever eaten

Just had a bad experience at “pizza by Goli” Family booking which got double booked , waitresses did there job , but a rude management spoilt our what should have been a special evening, they need to take stock and address their “Bad” attitude towards customers, Never again & I advise you to look elsewhere 😞

The food was flawless, service was ok which is quite impressive given how busy the place was. The atmosphere was a little disappointing, mainly due to the tense front of the house coordinator.

During our work team dinner at this restaurant, we were impressed by the beautiful setting and decor, though the food did not quite match up to the ambiance. Our server was pleasant and pointed out the daily specials, but we opted for other menu items instead. Unfortunately, there was a mix-up with our orders; my colleague's vegetarian pizza came with ham, and my ham pizza was vegetarian. When we pointed this out, it seemed they dashed the ham on top of my pizza and on my colleague’s one they removed the ham, they didn’t prepare fresh ones, as the corrected pizzas returned suspiciously quickly. Additionally, as an Italian, I found the use of cheddar cheese on pizza rather unconventional. Overall, the experience was decent the food didn’t take long to come.

Visited on a Saturday night as a family of 10 for a birthday meal. The table was booked for 7.30 and we were finally was seated at 8.20. The only table for 10 that was vacated was given to another group who walked in for their booking at 8pm And when asked, no member of staff seemed to know what was happening. The restaurant is extremely busy and extremely loud. Tables are crammed into as little space as possible, you're virtually sitting at someone else's table The food is OK, nothing special. Had no apology from any of the staff about our delay and once seated it all seemed very rushed. I would definitely avoid a weekend.

The food was nice. I wouldn't say it was anything special. The service really let it down though. We were made to feel really rushed the whole time and the waiting staff didn't k ow what they were serving. The dishes got mixed up and only, what seemed like, the manager could sort it out. Rather disappointed overall.as I have heard a lot of good things about this restaurant.

Visited last night and despite our party turning up 30mins late still squeezed us in. I believe another table for 2 moved in order for this to happen, huge thanks to them and the staff. The food and service was exceptional why the meatballs aren’t on the regular menu I don’t know, heavenly and the chocolate heart dessert (valentines special) was to die for. Keep doing what you’re doing Goli’s amazing!

Flawless meal. Great service and the food was devine!! The star of the show was the ribs. I am a passionate BBQer and love making ribs using my own sources but this sauce was unlike anything I have tasted before. It tasted like the culmination of decades of experimentation until they reached the best sauce ever. Calling it a BBQ Sauce was underselling it as that sauce deserves a name worthy of just how amazing it was! The ribs themselves were perfectly cooked and generously portioned. The only disappointment is I live 2hrs away because now I've tasted those ribs, no other ribs will ever compare!! :) Excellent service and a lovely atmosphere. Everyone else's meals looked just as impressive too.

Hi, our visit to the sutton branch was not as impressive as the reviews. I ordered a simple pasta dish which was made completely wrong, then they tried to ask for £3 more for gluten free food without any mention on the menu. The place was too loud to socialise, shame really as it was a good local Italian for us

BEST restaurant i've been to for the last 8 years

It is with a heavy heart that I write this review. I must start off with the fact that the food we had was lovely and the atmosphere in the restaurant was great. It was super busy and there were a good number of staff on. We booked the table in advance and was advised they they needed the table back after a certain time. We totally understand this as we had a 6:30pm reservation and they wanted to turn it over. We ordered a good bottle of wine and our food at about 6:40pm (the garlic pizza bread is legendary so we ordered 2 of these to start). 40 minutes later we had finished the wine and asked a waiter where our starters were. A couple of minutes later the waiter came back, apologised that our ticket had been lost in the hustle and said our food would be delayed. We were chatting at the table so ordered another bottle of wine. Couple of minutes passed and our starter arrived exactly 50 minutes after ordering. We devoured them (was starving by now) and our mains followed. Great mains I must add. The waiter came over, apologised and gave us a bottle of wine to take home and a round of lemon shots. We tipped him as he was excellent and paid for our food. Now this is where it gets juicy! The so called manager or owner came over and demanded the table back as she had other guests waiting. There was No “I’m sorry about the delay in your food order folks, it was our fault, we made a mistake but please could you take your remaining wine to the bar”. She was so blunt and rude to hurry us along. Your team handled it well up until this point. You need to take a leaf out of their book! I don’t think we will rush back here (due to that has she shunned us out)which is a real shame as we like to support local business.

Very nicely decorated restaurant, food is expensive but a little tasty i'd say. However there was a large group of men downstairs, most of whom were doing Cocaine in the toilets. When myself and my family would enter the toilets we would hear them and they didn't try to hide it either. I was out with my inlaws trying to have a polite meal.

Overall food excellent but it was all too rushed in and out in 1 hour.

So disappointed with Pizza by Golis service. I’ve been going to the restaurant for over 20years. I’ve moved out of the area so when I come back to Sutton I always enjoys family meals at Pizza by Goli and recommending to family and friends to go. However over the last two occasions over the last week when visiting I’ve been met with rudeness to rush me and my family off the table, rush our order and leave as soon as possible. It is not a McDonald’s, otherwise I could have easily gone there.

Nice place but the food and customer service could be a lot better. I won't be returning.

Have lost count, how many times, I’ve dined, at Pizza By Goli, Sutton Coldfield… Started eating here, back in 2000 & in October 2003, brought a lovely Italian Senorina here, on our first date, hoping to impress her… Something must have worked, because, 20 years later, we’re still together & still dining here… Had a really nice meal here, in October (for the 20th Anniversary of our ‘First Date’) and have had 2 lovely meals, here this week; just before Christmas ❤️❤️❤️ & they make the best ‘Garlic Bread!’

Told to sit outdoors as restaurant was having refurb which we hadn't been told . I had phoned and booked a few days earlier. It was cold and late September but they had patio heaters on. During the meal the heaters went off and the food was tepid when it arrived. The power had been switched off for a while during work indoors. My 60th birthday with a large group including my one year old granddaughter. No apology given . Staff was busy on her phone . Shame I've been going for years and it's a 45 drive. Won't be going back.

We were a party of 8 and were ushered downstairs - it was pretty gloomy, walking past the toilets over the slippery floor, but the room ended up being fine, thanks to our incredible server, she was wonderful and made the evening. Food was good and if you’re in a big party, downstairs is fine. If it’s just a couple of you, I’d make sure you were upstairs.

Waste money and time ! too expensive for pasta and I had a ridiculously bad experience, The price and official level type of service (normal fast food) and seats stuck together and very close tables seem very expensive compared to the price of the food , we paid £180 for 4 people !

2nd time here, and the staff remembered us and even our specific request for green chillies the first time we visited. 1st time we visited we had their pizza, which was good. But this time we ordered of their main food selection of pasta and chicken and it was 👌 I'd say it was better than their pizza. Would definitely recommend and we will be going back again Big portions and you get your monies worth of food

We entered the building to horrendous levels of people shouting and queuing at the entrance and bar area which was already packed with people waiting for tables. Luckily we had booked the table and advised the waitress of our name and booking, she then pulled a face because I didn't speak fast enough when she asked. Once we sat down we waited over 20 minutes before someone came to take our order, we requested a bottle of wine and a bottle of water. We were served the wine without asking to taste it (which is fairly common in most restaurants nowadays). We were told that the bottle of water will follow up, which never arrived but was on the bill. The volume of people shouting at each other was horrendous so much so that we couldn't hear each other speak or even give our order to the waiter. Food was ok, nothing special, nobody came to check if it was ok during the meal at all. Once we finished our meals the plates were cleared but we were never asked if we wanted any desert or coffee, we were just left sitting there wondering what to do next? We waited 40 minutes and watched all the staff (at least 9 members) all standing behind the bar ignoring their customers. We than managed to grab a waiters attention and requested our bill, which never came. Out of desperation and wanting to leave the extremely noisy restaurant (that at the time was half empty) we went to the bar and requested our bill, we waited almost 5 minutes to then be given the wrong bill. When pointed this out to the waitress and received in response an annoyed faced and then she walked away (no explanation). Another waitress had to join the effort to gather the correct bill which we paid and finally happily left to never return and experience such an overcrowded and poorly serviced restaurant. I am Italian and I have been to many local Italian restaurants and this is the worst I have ever experienced, including the staff commenting in Italian not thinking that I couldn't understand their comments. Needless to say we wont be back!

Pizza by Goli showed promise during my visit, as it was bustling with patrons, yet some aspects left room for improvement. The noise level was uncomfortably high, affecting the overall experience. While it's an Italian restaurant, the pizza fell short of expectations. A concerning factor was the proximity of the dining area to open bathroom doors, resulting in an unpleasant odor and hygiene concerns. To reach its full potential, Pizza by Goli should work on noise control, elevate pizza quality, and address the issue of odorous open restroom doors to ensure a more enjoyable and hygienic dining environment.

Lovely restaurant, setting, service and food.

Sadly my starter mussels in white wine and garlic was in a tomato sauce with an excess of sliced cherry tomatoes ,think they thought l would not notice? A confusing dish.The main pasta dish was over baked and dry but everything else was fine.They deducted the pasta dish but it was a quiet lunch service no more than three tables.Overall disappointed but the young lady that served us was very pleasant and l had no problem tipping her.

We gave been going to Pizza by Goli over 20 years. The staff are always polite and attentive. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is always warm and inviting.

Italian fine dine, at its finest. The food is fresh and flavoursome. It was my third time at the restaurant and it never disappoints. the ambience is pretty and cosy. The staff is friendly and the service, prompt. There are a few vegetarian options, as well as non-alcoholic drinks.

Good food and we all had a lovely evening. Service was adequate but they were busy so not overly attentive. However when we came to settle the bill they overlooked the deposit that was paid and when reminded of this fact we were made to feel that this was our fault? Came away with misgivings about their booking process! This is likely to affect any return visit.

Have been using this place as a family for 30 years, and love the investment that’s gone into extending and refurbishing the place. Our last visit was however disappointing. There’s inevitably been a lot of new staff and it seems a lot of the older staff have moved on. Service is therefore abit hit and miss. We ordered garlic bread to start. It arrived without plates, and couldn’t get the attention of any of the staff so ultimately helped ourselves to plates from the counter. I ordered the beef stroganoff. The beef was really chewy, inedible and sent back. Swapped with no questions but meant I had to eat separately to my family. Same problem trying to get attention to ask for the bill, one of the new girls was really quite rude when we asked her for a third time. Ultimately we went to the bar to get the bill. Will definitely go back, but not at busy times, and quite likely to leave it for 6 months while they find their feet

Great place for an Italian meal, the food was excellent.

We booked a table for 18 people a week in advance we were asked to submit our selection of starters and mains for our party, there were 4 children in our party so we asked for the children’s menu we were told that they would adjust the children’s choice at the point of payment, however this did not happen we paid the same for children’s meals as the adults, We were also asked for £180.00 deposit which we paid, When we arrived they had allocated a long table not a round one like we had asked for none of our party could talk to one another not only due to the very loud noise but also because of the poor seating situation, Most of our party had arrived except 2 however even when we said that we were waiting for another 2 people they started to bring out the starters my partner tried to explain again that this was not how we had planned the meal to be there was no communication at all the same can be said for the mains also, We had 2 people who are autistic in our group and the noise levels were unbearable, Overall the experience was not as we had anticipated, we paid over £500.00 for 17 people not everyone had starters and not everyone had desert, I have been here previously just 2 of us and it was very good hence why we chose the venue I think large groups are a problem for them. I will not be going back but I will be contacting them about being overcharged for children’s meals,

Absolutely disgusting treatment paid deposit for 12 people and arrived to our table not available and waited over an hour to be seated ! Will never go there again, it was a special occasion and they are clearly money oriented, taking deposits and ovet booking !

We both had steak which was cooked how we asked and the meat clearly quality cuts. Not cheap but then you get what you pay for. The service was excellent and would suggest you book as went on a Monday and still busy. The drinks are expensive here so have a few elsewhere beforehand but don't let that put you off. Overall a lovely place with lovely food.

Previously visited this restaurant a few years ago when the food was very good , however this is no longer the case . Portions small given the cost , too much cream in pasta dishes and not enough quality ingredients presented in misleading sized dishes . When paying by cash we had to ask for change after waiting quite a while. Poor value for money , unfortunately will not be returning .

Friendly staff , fast service and great food

Food was delicious, staff are friendly but inattentive, had to take my own plate to the kitchen, get up to order coffee as we waited ages for the dessert menu, it was clear we were forgotten about , I’d the waiter staff were as organised as the kitchen and bar there would be no problems. Would go again for the food but would most likely take away. Told the staff this and the reply was we were very busy Friday and Saturday and today the staff are low!

The owner of the business is rude, we didn’t even finish our drink and she told staff to tell us to hurry up. Some new staff are use less asked for salt & pepper which never came. Quality of food has gone down. Not value for money. Fries were brought in after we had half of our food.

Restaurant looks great. But food not as good as it used to be. Fish not as good quality, muscles were tiny and 3 of my shells were shut tight. I could smell the fish on the next table instead of the aroma of the sauce it came with, wasn't I nice smell. It still gets busy so book. My chocolate cake though was delicious.

Wonderful experience dining here. Flavour of the food, particularly the sugo was spot on. Very authentic sauces. Great vibe and atmosphere with lovely lighting and attentive staff. If you can't get to Italy for food,go here!

We have always had a amazing meal and service at PBG, however sadly I think they have become a victim of their own success. We visited at 7pm on Saturday. It was very busy, very noisy and the tables are very close together. We found it quite difficult to hear each other so conversation was difficult. The waiters seemed preoccupied when taking our order which resulted in not having what we ordered. He also seemed determined that everyone would have a side order with their meal despite us wanting to share. This resulted in a side of fries, vegetables and salad all going to waste although probable added £15 plus to the bill, so stick to your guns! Our steaks, once quite spectacular. were very average and mine in particular very dry. Needless to say we won’t be returning anytime soon. A real disappointment.

Had a meal for granddaughters birthday, eight of us, fairly early and we were the only customers, very nice decor, food was very nice , waiter and chefs obviously at loggerheads in the open kitchen, so service a little fraught, paid bill , plus tip, only to be stopped in street five mins later by waiter who said we had been served incorrect wine by mistake and could we pay the difference , very embarrassing for us on the high street, I politely refused as we were unaware of their error, waiter left with a mumbled sarcastic remark. Potentially a lovely place , food great, but really need to improve customer service and concentrate on what's happening instead of bickering staff and serving errors....

Visited this place regularly for many years last time being Dec 22 but somethings different on this visit Sept 23z Food still excellent but now paper napkins (no longer large cloth napkins) and service not so speedy or personal - please note waiter/waitress were not rude just no rapport or banter and no regard regarding personal space - dishes passed to one diner to pass on up the table. A loud heated discussion that repeated throughout our meal was going on in the kitchen and helped with the atmosphere although some of our party were not impressed with it. Food remains excellent- if I’m paying c£60 a head for a meal I expect a cloth napkin, friendly banter and a waiter/waitress who knows how to serve the table and doesn’t leave us waiting in between courses. Food remains excellent.

The first time I’ve been back since it has been refurbished. The service was terrible, beyond terrible. Food was average. It’s really disappointing as it’s local to us and has been great in the past.
