We visited Cafe di Milano recently to try out their new bottomless brunch. The atmosphere in the place was amazing and the DJ had everyone singing. Also wanted to mention our server for the afternoon Mohamed, he was brilliant throughout our visit, was very attentive and made sure our glasses were never empty 😄 He was also very friendly to talk to which made our experience even better.

The food and service was amazing. Polite and friendly staff the waitress who served us was called jyo fantastic service

Came with 3 friends and we had an amazing experience. The lobster risotto and whole lobster with fries are absolutely brilliant. Unlike a lot other restaurants which you can barely find lobster meat in risotto, there’s plenty of lobster meat in big pieces. We were served by Mohammed who’s been very friendly and treated us with free shots and wine. It’s not our first time to be here and will defo come back again.

Fantastic cafe opposite British Museum, prices were excellent, great vegan choices too. Calm and cool despite the heat.

Dining at Caffe di Milano was a new experience for me as I hadn’t previously attended this institution before. I was directed to a table located central of the building by an attentive staff member who was really communicative and friendly. My order was taken by a waiter named Mohammad who was extremely polite and sociable, he guided me through the menu and recommended a few dishes, to my surprise what was dished out was absolutely delightful; the carpaccio di manzo, heads up to the chef, managerial staff and also Mohammed, I will be definitely looking forward to dining in again, also working in hospitality there are bases that determine ones service, and I can proudly say Mohammad does not disappoint! Thank you Caffe di Milano for the great experience! ❤️❤️

Great food and atmosphere but what really stood out to me was the attentiveness from the service team, special mention to our waiter Mohamed he recommended the best pasta dishes to my table and delivered a very friendly service. Good customer service is what makes a customer loyal, he has managerial qualities that any workplace would value. Good luck to him in the future !

Disappointed- always go here before going to the theatre, but yesterday we had to ask 3 times for the water we had asked for, our food didn’t get served and on asking we were told there had been a problem on the computer and our order hadn’t gone through. Then they added on a 10% service charge which we said we weren’t paying. Also the theatre menu has gone up in price, so paid £29.95 for a pizza and an ice cream, food is good but not that good.

We visited this restaurant as a family before going to the Hippodrome theatre to see a show. One thing I have to say is that the photos made the restaurant look very beautiful and clean. However, when we arrived, it felt quite dirty and run-down. It looked as though it turns into a bar/club later on in the evening, so that’s probably why. However it still doesn’t excuse this… The food was average, I wouldn’t say it was the best Italian food I’ve had. However, it was a convenient location as the restaurant was only 5 minutes from the theatre, so we didn’t have to rush our food.

Pleasant cuisine but very high prices for a one-course starter (95L) with glasses of wine. We were almost alone during our visit at the very beginning of the weekday evening. All dishes were served at the same time. We had to send back the dishes to be able to enjoy the hot starters in peace. As for the atmosphere during the meal, a waitress was mopping the floor near our table.

Food was really good, some dishes probably a little more expensive than they need to be and service was a bit slow but overall enjoyed the experience. Not sure about the whole DJ thing at 8pm on a Saturday night but guessing every business wants to be a little different

We telephone booked an A la Carte table for 5.30pm on Saturday. When we arrived we were presented with a Theatre Menu..... we asked for the A la Csrte menu that we had booked and after much confusion a 'manager' asked us what we would like that wasn't on the Theatre Menu, 'Give me a minute and I will see what I can do' was the super efficient response...... we never saw this lady again and had to order meals we didn't want otherwise we would have been late for the Theatre. I am very disappointed by a restaurant that I have been to many times. The staff came across as lacking the confidence to make a decision that would have meant 1. Our bill would have been double what we actually spent and 2. You would have made the customer happy I left a very unhappy customer, our whole evening g was ruined!

It’s a facade! It’s close to the theatre so gets a good amount of people. Slow service, toilets with no soap! Food mediocre, cheap chicken in the pasta, could taste how horrible and cheap it was!

Mohammed and ghita were excellent

1. Even after requesting ‘no garlic’ for a meal, garlic was still put on the Sea Bass. The person is allergic and as a result, spent the remainder of the evening very poorly. 2. We requested the speaker directly above our party be turned down slightly, as we couldn’t properly engage in conversation. The waiter requested this from a red-haired (manager?) who visibly pulled a scowl, spoke to the DJ, and visibly shrugged the request off. This same red-haired employee then claimed that she couldn’t hear us when discussing the bill – clearly, the music was too loud. 3. My main meal was incorrect – I had initially requested the pizza however changed it to the ravioli when sending across the official order selection. 4. When asked to pay, the red-haired employee refused to allow any more than one payment as it was ‘a Saturday and too busy to split the bill’. We then spent the next hour working out the bill and watching as this same staff member did very little. We missed our next 2230 reservation as it took us so long to work out how to pay a £607 bill on one card. Multiple people in my party work in hospitality and catering and confirmed how easy this process would have been to split the bill individually. 5. Finally, we were charged a ‘non-discretionary’ £66 service bill for terrible service. The plates were handed over heads, the music requests were scoffed at and ignored, garlic was put onto a garlic-intolerant person’s meal, and we were refused a very simple to request to split the bill.

Went for a staff night out. Music was too loud, with DJ vaping in the restaurant whilst people were eating, service incredibly slow, food wasn’t very visually appealing and tasted even worse. Lasagne was cold and appeared to be pre cooked but then placed in warm passata filled bowl? Wouldn’t return. Only good thing is the cocktails.

Even though the website shows blue light and student discounts on its front page, they say they know nothing about this and that it might be coming soon

Fantastic experience at caffe di Milano before the theatre. They catered so well for my little girl making the whole experience relaxed and special. Thank you so much.

I went for my friend’s birthday and it was such an amazing environment. Mohammed made us feel so welcomed, with the service being so great and prompt. They tended to our every needs and made the day feel special!

Had my birthday meal here & they made every little thing so very difficult !!!! The menu in advance I dropped off, it went AWOL, then I emailed it, not good enough I had to write 19 peoples food out!!! Then they wouldn’t accept drinks at the bar it all had to be on one card, so instead of enjoying my birthday meal I’m monitoring who has what drink etc - then they kept trying to up sell a drinks package saying we can’t keep the table after 10, as they’ll be fully busy - it was absolutely empty!!!! Don’t insult my intelligence!!!! Staff were unhelpful, the manager was abrupt and she totally spoiled my experience - large groups don’t bother you would think they would want the business considering it’s empty but clearly not!!!

I never leave negative reviews but the experience I had for my birthday a couple of days ago was appalling. The food and drinks were fine and the atmoshpere was okay but the service was terrible. From entry my party of 14 felt overlooked as we waited almost 20 minutes for a waiter to even ask for our drinks order. Then my Muslim friend who has never had alcohol and was on medication was served alcohol in the mocktail she ordered. My friend who has many dietary restrictions was told that they all they could make for her was some chicken with a side of salad yet she was charged the same as everyone else having 2 courses. Finally, a drink was spilt on my friend leaving a stain and with no apology. When we asked for the servicr charge to be removed, we were told that they couldn't even though we had received subpar service. Eventually, after my friend had to explain the dangers of her having consumed alcohol whilst on medication, they removed the service charge. I am definitely not going back as there are plenty of better options in Birmingham for the same price and good service.

I went here in a booking of 16 people. The waiter was rude and unhelpful. They missed half the group meals and puddings out or got the order totally wrong then telling us they didn't have what we ordered. They had no cocktails that was on the menu specials meaning drinks were very expensive. The menu is very limited for dietary requirements

Went for a meal before seeing a show. Food was beautiful. Service was a little slow, it wasn't busy but the staff were very polite. Reasonably priced, ours was more because we had a bottle of fizz

Pre theatre meal last night. Didn’t realise it would be set menu - requested the normal menu to be told not possible. The set menus extremely over priced - a pizza and desert there is roughly £20 ish but set menu charged £28.95. Food was good - nothing amazing but nice. Then at the end our bill was much less than expected - they had charged us prices from main menu not set menu - didn’t complain!!!!! Overall it was fine but I prob wouldn’t rush back. Would be much better to allow tips to be a choice not 10% added as standard.

A reasonably priced Italian. Nothing special but decent food without an expensive price

Booked in for pre theatre dinner expecting something average. Really pleasantly surprised, the food, the service and the cocktails all exceptional. The staff are always available but without being over bearing. The arancini, seabass and cheesecake were some of the best I've had. Highly recommend!

One of the staff was incredibly rude and she was the first person who greated us. The menu was limited but we managed to find something we wanted to eat. As we were eating a mouse kept running across the floor. No apologies from the staff and it was running behind peoples feet. Very expensive for what you get. Very disappointed

Sometime since we visited Birmingham but this place Caffè Di Milano is an excellent place to eat,either pre or post theatre.Great food, very good choice on the menu and very very friendly and helpful staff.Would highly recommend.

Overall quite a nice place with interesting interior, only had a chocolate cake and coffee. The cake was very average, definitely expected better quality for the price. There are much better places around the city centre so probably won't visit again

We attended a New Year’s Eve event for which we had prepaid, but the security didn't allow us entry. Apart from this issue, when we asked a couple of questions, the guard began shouting, being rude, and gesturing, which is utterly unacceptable. The lack of manners and the disrespectful tone significantly ruined mine and my friends evening.

Seated at 5. Had to ask someone at 5:30 to place an order. Had to then chase food and even to get more drinks. Food came out at 6:35. Chips were barely warm had clearly been under the lamp. The table next to us asked for the bill before food even came because they had been sat so long. Food is expensive for what came out, service was non existent. Clearly can’t cope with the amount of bookings they accepted. will not be returning.

Me and my girlfriends family have come here the past 3 years in a row on Christmas Eve the food is always spot on, never had a bad meal from here. The pizza is one of the best pizzas I've ever had.

Visited for a lunch one Saturday with friends before visiting the theatre with a group of friends. Aleyna looked after us fantastically well. The service was excellent and the food delicious. It was perfect for a Christmas get together.

Risotto was wonderful and a very generous portion. Salad was simple and delicious. Staff were helpful and very friendly, especially Aleyna. The restaurant is clean, ,light and relaxing. This was my second visit to the restaurant and I can’t wait to go again.

Diabolical....no customer service...no manners...worst restaurant I have been to in my life!! The management is an absolute joke...rude and unprofessional! I don't know how there still open been to this restaurant twice both for birthdays and on both occasions staff were rude and lacked any form of training....(not mine as I would never book this place) food disgusting and tasteless! Needs to be shut down ASAP surprised they have any good reviews....!

Do not go here. It’s a catfish place. Food is not fresh, seafood pasta was made in less that 10 mins. There was no flavour in the pasta, just tasted like tomato. The mussels were mushy to the point where I had to spit them out, you couldn’t even chew them because they were mush and tasted old like frozen. TERRIBLE SERVICE as well. Rude lady at the front, absolute joke of a place. Focus less on your aesthetics and more or the food. How can I forget that when my drink came the strawberry was covered in fruit flies. AVOID THIS PLACE!!

Worst restaurant I have ever been to EVER! The lady at the front (ALICE) was so rude to us before we even sat down. The food came in 5 mins and lacked flavour, the mussels were mushy and tasted unclean. The drinks came accompanied with a swarm of flies. The bathroom was a MESS, toilet roll on the floor so unsanitary. Waiters are useless.

Be careful of the fixed price pre theatre menu as due to slow service (including people who arrived after us being served first) no time for desert but still charged for it. Offer to have as take out is not practical when going to the theatre neither is to come back at the end of the show when you have a child with you

This proved an interesting restaurant. It's very attractive to visit.Excellent location for the hippodrome theatre. They certainly coped with a busy pre theatre lunch session.Limited menu. Staff were helpful,at times we felt at little over stretched. Food,in the main all good.Little touches would have raised the bar. The sea bass was very good,but had been dried out around the edges,from the pass,which given it was busy was odd. Lasagna,good,but lacking that crispy finish.Not exceptional. Everything arrived hot. Calamari,good, little rubbery. Things like putting olive oil and balsamic vinegar on the tables would be a nice touch. Mains came with a salad The desert's we had were excellent have to say,my lemon based one,one of the best I eaten. Tap water provided no problem. Wines, delicious whites well chilled. Price point above average to high for the quality. But overall a lovely lunchtime experience. Thank you. We will visit again.

Incredible food. Absolutely zero atmosphere. Awful service. We entered the restaurant at 7pm on a Thursday and by 7:30, the restaurant was empty. You would've thought the service in that case would be second to none? Wrong. We waited around 30 minutes from finishing our starters for plates to be cleared. One of the party is allergic to peppercorns and specifically asked for these to not be on their steak, even confirmed by the waitress. The steak arrived with them on, and then another 20 minutes for the replacement steak to arrive. We had all finished by this point. Overall, great food, let down by some of the slowest and inattentive service I have ever received.

The staff at this restaurant really need to work on their customer service and communication skills! I had tried to book a table for a birthday meal on a Friday, after repeated emails and phone calls with staff telling me i will get a call back, I was continuously ignored. I would of thought booking a week prior to when I wanted to eat at this restaurant would have been more than enough time, however it took staff 4 days to respond to me only to tell me there are no tables left on that night. Staff member who i spoke to (who i assume is the manager) spoke over me multiple times and was unsympathetic or unapologetic although i expressed i was really dissatisfied with how i have been dealt with in this whole process. Since I couldn’t eat there I then enquired about a drinks only table, to where she proceeded to tell me only a small amount of females will be let in on a ‘walk in’ basis and any males will need to abide by a minimum spend? She also told me my party of 9 people was too large and i have to send yet another email to book a table for drinks. I decided not to proceed with this as my email would probably be ignored yet again and this restaurant is just not somewhere i would like to spend my money overall. Clearly this restaurant is very particular on who they let into their venue, if you don’t ‘fit’ their criteria and you happen to be born male you have no chance at this place. If you want to avoid a long winded booking with strange rules and wait 4 days just for a response then do not book at Caffe Di Milano!

A group of 5 us went for my friends birthday, we chose this place because of how nice the menu appeared. Turns out the food looks nothing like the way it’s presented online & the temperature and quality of the food was very disappointing. None of us enjoyed the food, it was brought out pretty much immediately which made us realise that the food was not fresh at all, the chips were cold, chicken on the pizzas were dry and overall satisfaction wasn’t fulfilled. We made a complaint and the waitress was rude and immediately dismissed there was anything wrong, they even charged us for a slice of cake for my friends birthday and didn’t clear this up with us in the first place😂 how rude!! Safe to say we will never return.

Rude staff and overrated restaurant

Excellent selection of seafood which is not always the case in Birmingham. I had the lobster linguine while my wife had the seafood linguine. Both were delicious and we shared a bottle of white wine which went down well. I will say that I don’t eat much seafood and didn’t realise there was further meat in the lobster claw which I hadn’t been given the tool to crack until the waiter who collected the plate asked about it, although he then cracked with the tool even if it was slightly cold. Even so, the meal itself was great.

We were served by Devanish, who's service was exemplary. He was friendly and professional and knew just how to be attentive whilst not imposing on us. The food was good too, most of us had Pizzas which it is hard to judge a restaurant on unless they are particularly poor (which these were not!). One of our group had a pasta dish and certainly felt that it was excellent. This was a spur of the moment choice for lunch, while visiting the nearby Back to Backs. It was a great choice for food and service and we will definitely be back.

Nice cafe for some coffee and desserts , lovely decoration and staff very polite and welcoming. Would of been 5 star if not for noise made by other customers and sometimes want to be seated with gap. But apart from that can’t fault this place.

She was rude and had absolutely no decorum, we ordered £130.00 bottle for the table and cocktails yet she asked us to leave as we didnt order any food! Eventhough our bar bill would have heavily out weighed any food we would have ordered... Said she was a manager however and no management skills at all. Caffe di milano please review your front of house lady as wearing an earpiece does not mean you have management skills. If youre looking for a confrontational night out...you found your venue Birmingham 0⭐️

This looks like a nice restaurant, unfortunately the service is terrible and the food is average at best. My party of four were seated at a table next to two rude women sitting side-by-side at a table for two (the other seat being empty), jackets and bags strewn everywhere, totally encroaching on our space, and the waitress said nothing to them. We had to ask to move tables, in the end, after tracking down our non-attentive server who looked at me like I was an alien when I tried to order a dirty martini (two martinis on the menu, so it wouldn’t have been a huge stretch). The menu is heavy on meat and cream, and the pasta I had was lukewarm and kind of bland. I make better Italian food than that at home.

Absolutely love coming here. The food is delicious and the staff are friendly. We’ve been quite a few times and the last time we came there were 6 of us and the food delivery was quick and the food was all delicious. My mum and I have also done the Milano’s too good to go dessert bag and that was delicious too.

We went at a very quiet time on a Sunday morning. Was a perfect respite to the torrential rain outside. Staff were lovely and we can recommend the almond croissants. The cafe is beautiful inside, such a find on a wet Sunday morning.
