booked a table for my mums birthday, great food, well presented dishes, everyone left pleased, hadn't been here before so it was a game, mum left happy, so happy all round

Always amazing tasting food. I’m a bit fussy about the chicken from many Turkish restaurants, but this one is great. The quality of the food is amazing, and the portion sizes are generous - the prices are surprisingly reasonable too. Great selection on the menu. Amazing drinks, always on time, never wait long for my collection. Highly recommend!

Food was fantastic, you should definitely try it

I was absolutely shocked with an astonishment how two elderly people were treated with carelessness and disrespect in this place. I was there for a lunch and an elderly gentleman for a reason got stuck in the toilet longer than he would normally take, staff was ignoring the elderly person in the toilet; in fact the management closed the gents toilet completely and male customers were sent to the ladies restroom. The management and the staff approach to this matter was absolutely revolting at -all -time that l’ve seen. With their shocking carelessness and selfishness to this matter and trying to protect their reputation l was left gobsmacked! The customer of yours especially two elderly people coming to your place to eat and enjoy a meal which is all paid for, was ignored almost two hours, they refused to help nor they called the ambulance. In the end an elderly lady run out to get help from a neighbourhood shop! Eventually elderly gentleman was got out of the toilet and was assist out of the restaurant, management and the owners have been careless and selfish by ignoring the whole matter for their own reputation. Hence anything could be happening to any of us any time and l would not want to come across with an ignorance as such. I would not want to eat, dine, and leave my money in a place like this and most importantly with cruel people whom only thinking of their own benefit. This elderly man who lost some of his abilities while running daily routine and all happens under your roof. Anything could happen to anyone under this roof and the management would just get panicked for their reputation to be spoiled and keep quiet rather than providing with help or assistance. I had to give 1 star l would give 0 if l could! Shame seeing this things happening and disrespect towards an elderly and vulnerable people under your roof only for a reputation of your restaurant. This restaurant needs to be banned for welcoming and serving certain age group - this was an absolute discrimination nothing else and made me sick to watch it.

I visited by chance during a vehicle charge - greeted with smiles by all staff, who all seemed very happy! Sign of good management. I ordered (rather ashamedly in a Turkish restaurant where I'd normally try something appropriate for the place) a burger and chips, with calamari starter. It was all cooked perfectly and well presented. If I lived anywhere near I'd be a regular.

The food here is good and the prices fair although alcohol prices are quite high. . Pleasant enough surroundings, clean, smart etc. Good vegetarian options. The place is over staffed though. The servers are annoying. Don’t sit near the pink cherry blossom tree. Servers gather beneath it like fruit flies either staring at diners or chattering between themselves. They have way too much time on their hands.

A midweek meet with friends, wasn't very busy. Nice 'blingy' pink decor, very Essex (I'm from Essex so am allowed to say this). Service good, food quite good. I had moussaka but wish I'd gone for the shish kebab as that looked nicer. Moussaka was very oily and a bit too cheesy for my liking. Lovely vegetables/salad and accompaniments. Not too expensive. I'd probably go back and get different dish.

A colleague and I were keen to go on a lunchtime escapade, and discovered this Turkish restaurant who were willing to take us on this journey! As soon as we entered, there was an enchanting atmosphere which almost felt like you were walking through the bustling streets of Istanbul yourself. We could tell we were in for a treat! We stumbled across a set lunch menu for just £14 which promised a gastronomic discovery into some fine Turkish cuisine. I opted for the Sucuk to start, which was succulent to say the least. Each bite burst with spices and flavours, and left my taste buds craving more. But the main event was the real show-stopper. The mixed shish displayed some perfectly charred lamb and chicken and was accompanied with a vibrant colour of veggies, I was certainly somewhere over the rainbow! I must also say the pile of rice came with some beautiful domage. The dish was phenomenal. Overall, we expected a journey and this place delivered ten-fold. The impeccable service and exquisite flavours has me gagging for more, and I can't wait to return!

I came to this restaurant on the recommendation of friends and did not regret it. The food is incredibly delicious, a big compliment to the chefs. The service is excellent and very fast. Atmosphere is beautiful.The guys are very polite. The owner of the restaurant is very friendly. We will come again. Recommended

You can't beat the quality of the food and service, especially on their lunch time offer which doesn't fail to skimp on size and taste! Really friendly, and great with children too.

Second time Visited for a family meal. The previous time, last December, food was better than this time. Fish platter was bland.

Absolutely shocking customer service. Booked a table for a large party for a friends birthday celebration. After being kept waiting for 30 minutes we watched with surprise as our table was cleared, then given to another group who’d arrived after us! Staff then told us they wouldn’t be able to seat us due to their mistake. Leaving us trying to find a restaurant on a busy Saturday night. We’ll never set foot in the place again. Rude, disorganised, impolite and shambolic service!

Not cheap by any stretch of the imagination but food was good and service was quick and friendly. We visited on a Sunday lunchtime and although busy and a big group of us there wasn't much of a wait for food and staff were polite and attentive. I had the mixed kebab and it was tender and tasty but again, north of £20 for it felt alot. Would definitely recommend for the food but maybe when you a bit more flush on funds.

Place is nice, the staff friendly, they accommodated us although it was getting very busy. Food was lovely but the sharing platter quantity was too little, one chop in a sharing platter! They served us humous along with a bread which we thought were complimentary but charged us for humous which we didn't order. They also added service charge to the bill without asking, which was very odd for the UK. I know some places are introducing it, but they give you an option to choose, adding it as default to see if the customer will question it or not is not polite.

Its always busy here and now I can see why. It's got a great atmosphere and lovely to be in such a buzzy restaurant. The hummus okay and the mains were really good. Standout from the mixed shish was the lamb, delicious. Service was top notch too. Very friendly and attentive. Simpleh lovleh. Came again a year later in October 23 and it was even better. Lamb and chicken are as good as you're getting at any Turkish. So moist and succulent.

The food was excellent 👍 the service very slow. I had to call the waiter numerous times. But the rip off is drinks. I had 2 X glass of wine. The first cost £8.50 the second and same wine £10.40??? Go and enjoy but be prepared to be ripped off!!

This restaurant had excellent food,the staff were great downside is it's very noisy had to shout in conversation and the tables are to tight together not easy to get in and out apart those was fantastic restaurant.

Visited for a meal last night. We were seated at our table, then no-one came back to our table. After 15 minutes sitting waiting, I had to ask the waitress if anyone was going to take our order as we had been waiting a long time. Slightly aggrieved at paying 12.5% service charge for the 2 of us, when the service was not very good. The food itself was nice enough, other items expensive for what they were. The restaurant was very loud. I'm not sure I would return.

Nice enough Turkish restaurant. Didn't book yet they were kind enough to seat a walk-in party of six! Food was served quickly and was fine. Service was very intense, with the waitress standing over us the entire time and moving/fixing stuff on the table whilst we were eating that was unnecessary. Even kept coming back to top up our drinks from our bottles right beside the glasses during dinner- it's ok to pour the drink when serving it but after that let the customer do it and give them a bit more space! Bit overpriced compared to similar restaurants serving the same food and no 'Turkish Tea' available.

June 2023 update Google suggested I update this again based on the number of times we have visited. Went for the lunch deal (£14 for a starter and main) and still included the puff bread with three dips. Service as ever is excellent. Staff very friendly and efficient. It is fascinating to watch (and I did). They walk around in a circuit observing but unobtrusive. There are waiters and then other staff members who help with cleaning or service duties. Two managers are present and visible. Tables wiped after every course. Toilets were clean. Music not too loud and added great atmosphere. On to the food, garlic and cheese mushrooms were fantastic, Spinach and ricotta pastries excellent, cujuk perhaps a little on the small side but tasty. Then two mixed shish and one chicken shish perfect as ever. With a glass of wine and tip £55 for three people. Excellent value. An update (probably early 2022) Went back for a second meal. This time had the hummus starter and Spinach and ricotta Pastries. Both were enjoyable but the Pastries really stood out. Excellent dish. For main course, we ordered the lamb ribs and the mixed Shish. The ribs were cooked perfectly as I asked for and were very, very tasty. Give 5 stars there However, the mixed Shish (lamb and chicken breast) was on another level. They were both exceptionally soft and taste was superb. Highly recommended. Both came with a choice of rice or couscous and a salad both of which were very well executed. The staff were fantastic. They were very friendly and responsive. Members were always walking around and present without hovering and looking out for tables even though perhaps not "theirs". The music was again great and background without being intrusive. Overall, I can highly recommend this restaurant. Great food, great staff, great ambience. Final note, I enquired about gluten free options. The manager returned to let us know that if they are informed, they can cook certain dishes by removing ingredients and taking Special care with the cooking process so kudos there. Update (June 2022) Returned on another occasion for a family meal including a coeliac. True to their word, they sorted everything out. The food was upto the usual exceptionally high standard. The service though had upped a level. The tables were very clean when we arrived. And now, they were wiped down between every course. The staff were very efficient and friendly. This place just keeps on getting better. Original. Had a lovely Sunday lunch here. We were seated quickly and service was efficient. Our waitress was friendly. Atmosphere was lively with a birthday party going on and there was a good vibe with some softly playing Turkish music in the background. Toilets were clean and fresh. After ordering our Lamb Kleftiko, a complementary beautifully baked very thin pita (called puff bread) was brought to the table along with three dips which were all amazing. We were really impressed with this dish. My Kleftiko was good but not great. I found it overcooked (medium to well) for my taste (rare to medium rare) but was certainly well spiced and of a good size. The Esme salad was very good. I am looking forward to returning and try other items on the menu too as it looked very appealing and I can expand my Turkish food knowledge.Will go again soon. Well done to your team.

We always enjoy dining here. Really nice decor and lovely to sit outside in the terrace too when the weather is nice. My only constructive criticism would be to please make your rice portions bigger. It’s disappoint small and looks it on the plate when serving too.

Honestly it was a pretty disappointing experience. The food was nice but when you pay £23 for a mixed shish, you expect more than three pieces of chicken and three of lamb. Compensating with a kilo of salad doesn’t really do it for me. The same applied for everyone in our group - the food was acceptably nice, but you know when you order something that’s £26 (as I did) for a mixed grill thinking ‘oh, it’s quite expensive but I’m sure it’s because you get a decent amount of food/or it’ll be really nice’ that really wasn’t the case here. Ultimately the service was fine and the place had a nice atmosphere but at this level, at these prices, you’ve got to do better. I say with no animosity but I won’t be coming back, I hadn’t eaten all day except a small lunch knowing I was going out for dinner tonight. I’ve just come home from Epping and stopped at the M11 McDonald’s to get two double cheeseburgers because the portions at Piya were embarrassing small. P.S I see that Piya have a fairly generic response to all the negative reviews which includes the standard lines about taking customer concerns seriously but none of it matter if you can’t satisfy your customers with your food. For anyone reading this who lives in Harlow, the Garden Grill in Harlow do a mixed grill sharing platter for 2 for £29, it’s great quality and you get a really decent amount with Turkish breads/rice/side salads included

I was expecting good value, good quality food as the reviews portray this. If I am completely honest, the prices are higher then restaurants in the area, so I was expecting good quality food. I was disappointed with the meal. We have had better quality food at other Turkish restaurants for half the price. It is a shame as visuallly it is a lovely looking resturant and the service was prompt. The food and price didn't deliver and unfortunately we won't be going back. The price of wine isn't included on the menu and feels quite substantial at 11.45 per glass. It would be fair to let customers know on the menu the price of a glass of wine. I wish the quality of the food was better, tiny portion of rice accompanied. I have tasted much better and paid much less.

It was my birthday had lamb shish with yogurt it was awful. Loads of tiny pieces of lamb some cold some warm really dry and chewy and no flavour. Smallest amount of rice and loads of yogurt dumped each side. I complained and asked why it was cut into tiny pieces and reply was chef decided to do it. I told waitress it was disgusting and she said she would tell chef and that was it. She never came back with any feedback from chef. Spent over £270 on 5 people for main meals and drinks. The worst meal I have ever had in a restuarant.

It was my first visit here. There's a good range of wines and cocktails listed and a full range of food choices. My chicken a la creme was gorgeous. Place has nice decor and a pleasant atmosphere. Service was good but not great. The mains were cooked too soon, so they asked if they could take our starters away even though we hadn't quite finished them. Other than that small hiccup, the service was fine.

These guys are like a second family to us. The food is ALWAYS incredible, the atmosphere is amazing and the staff is the best in the business. Do yourself a favour and get yourself down here!

Grateful to get a late booking for two on a busy weekend and not disappointed. Such efficient, attentive and friendly staff. We both had vegetarian meals and everything was cooked perfectly and tasted absolutely delicious.

Thought we’d try Piya for lunch today. We weren’t disappointed, great value lunch menu with plenty of choice, starters and main. The staff are very attentive and the service is great. The food was delicious, we shall be visiting again …..soon !

I visited here with colleagues from work (ie. There was a group of us). We had a sort of late lunch, ordered from lunch menu which I felt was good value for money at £13. The food was good, and there was minimal delay getting us served and getting food out to us. Having a group of us didn't seem to cause any issues which was nice to see. Only small bit of feedback was the table legs - we had a number of tables along the bench seat and getting your legs round the table legs was a bit awkward!! A minor issue in grand scheme of things - and as mentioned above... thankfully the food was very nice!

Me and my partners family went here for his birthday and there were 15 of us. We were treated so lovely by all the staff and they were very accommodating for everyone and each persons needs. The prices aren’t low but I think you get what you pay for , amazing food , lovely drinks , very welcoming and kind staff and pretty fast service (especially considering there were 15). I will definitely be coming back , lovely lovely place. Defo recommend

Excellent ! Meal : Hummus very tasty and comes with puff bread (ok) and normal bread (good). Lamb/chicken shish very generous size and tasty meat and coming with excellent bulgur and salad. Service: perfect, waiters pay attention to each table and are always nearby and efficient. Loved it ! Definitely recommending this Turkish restaurant

We decided to take the owners advice and revisit the restaurant to give it a second chance, and absolutely nothing has changed, what’s the point of writing to us and telling us we will implement changes in our restaurant so the same mistakes don’t happen again for there to be no changes so you’ve practically lied to us never again! The issue in question is waiting staff standing over you while you eat and watching you, making you feel awkward and pressurised to eat quicker.

Shocking service, all they do is stare at you while eating, made me feel uncomfortable, always on edge they seem. I got recommended here and can proudly say I’ll never come back or tell everyone I know to stay away. I’d rather eat at KFC think the service is better.

Lovely place great food and service

Nice atmosphere, very friendly staff, plenty of parking space around, plenty of drink options, the food tastes good but some of the portions are a bit small.

Had a great night in here with friends recently. We were sat at a table near the back which was drafty so we asked to be moved, which they did as soon as a table was free and placed us next to the window which was also a bit cold and a bit drafty. However it was a particularly cold evening. England were playing that evening, so there was a good atmosphere, food was good and service was excellent and he had a good sense of humour which made us laugh. We did find that the prices were rather high when the bill was presented to us and thought a drink on the house would have been a nice touch considering how much we spent. We would still return to Piya as it was a lovely evening.

Had a fabulous lunch there on 9 December. Although there wasn't the usual set lunch, the food was absolutely fabulous, especially the hot mixed mezze, which although only for two, was plenty for three to share. My chicken pide was excellent too. However, what made our visit outstanding was the service from Ozzy who was friendly, but very professional. Couldn't fault our visit.

4 of us enjoyed a lovely evening here. Service was polite and attentive, the food looked and tasted fantastic. The only tiny fault I could find was that the tzatziki didn't come with its own serving of bread, so there was loads left over...and the restaurant itself was rather loud with conversation sometimes difficult. Nonetheless Piya was a great evening out with friends and we highly recommend. Leave room for the tiramisu! 👌

Exceptional service, food was great, and atmosphere was fun too. Lights were dimmed and music was loud so avoid if you don't like that. Only one star down because the tables felt a but too close together and crammed in, but forgivable for the excellent service. Service charge was added to the bill, 12.5% I think. No parking, but side streets only have permits during the day.

Was visiting family in Loughton and got taken here. Loved the food and general atmosphere. Do recommend

I can't speak highly enough of this restaurant; the food was delicious and well-presented, and the service was excellent. Early on a Saturday night (around 6:45) it was getting busy and we hadn't booked, but we're made welcome from the moment we stepped through the door, being given a little table for two by the door. We were served a drink within two minutes and our orders taken a son as we were ready. No sooner had we given our orders than we were presented with hot, freshly made flatbread and three bowls of delicious Turkish dips to share while we waited. Between courses of delicious and generously portioned hot food our table was wiped clean and drinks refilled as needed. I has no room for desert, but opted for a Turkish coffee, which was served 'medium strength, medium sweet' after a brief discussion of how I wanted it. It came in a most fantastic little brass device, like a miniature Samovar and just topped off the whole experience perfectly. Meal for two, starter, main drinks and a coffee, just over £80. And with the quality and service I regard that as good value. Verdict? I want to move to Epping! Seriously try Piya if you haven't already; you won't be disappointed! Pro tip: you get 3 hours free parking in the Tesco opposite, as long as you spend £5 and get your receipt validated with your registration at the machine inside!

We were looking for somewhere for lunch on a family visit to Epping. We chose Piya Bar & Kitchen as we wanted to try Turkish food. A lively ambience, attentive and friendly staff, and tasty and well presented food. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We will certainly visit again.

Value for money lunch time menu

This was one of the best experiences of my life I had booked the table for 2, the management ensured we were looked after and cared for without disrupting the mood or flow of our chat, I would like to thank each and every one of them and being a local I will ensure everyone knows what service I had (booking Michael, 8pm table for two)
