Maybe I was there on a bad day, but I experienced surly counter staff, poor service, average food, small portions, and prices charged at the till didn't match prices on the blackboard behind the counter. I shan't be going again.

The staff weren't capable of handling customers on the weekend at all. Been waiting in line for ordering forever and the staff kept ignoring the customers in line and they were just too busy. The portion was large but somehow all four of us felt I'll after consuming the food. Question the food hygiene there.

Just popped into Pitfield for my first visit .Lovely varied menu and good prices for Old Street area. Friendly welcoming staff. My Poached eggs with avocado and smoked salmon was delicious. Nice touch having tea served in cup with tea pot rather than mug..Nice chilled atmosphere with quirky interior..I will be back .

I’ve given this place the benefit of the doubt so many times, but I have to say this now. It’s a nice cafe, ruined by consistently poor staff. When it’s quiet they disappear to the kitchen and you are left standing there for several minutes unsure if anyone will come. When it’s busy they can’t cope and start to panic. It’s a shame.

To die for gluten free carrot cake and a generous slice of Quiche Lorraine, washed down with refreshing sparkling water infused with wonky cucumbers! Very tasty. Sadly rather understaffed (but they are hiring) and incredibly - in this (thankfully!) plastic free society using plastic glasses for people eating in. Hopefully it’s a temporary measure only. Quirkily next door to an erotic boutique - should you feel inclined to browse!

I was looking for a place to perch before going to a restaurant and decided to try this cafe. The decor is nice, a lot of cakes on offer, even though it was 5pm and my tea was very good. I still have some complains- I needed to wait for the server to finish his phone call before he could serve me. Also later on when I was reading my book he cane and told me the shop is closing in 10minutes - 20 minutes early. I reminded him I asked for the closing time when I entered and he just grimaced. He chucked everyone out 20 minutes early, and the place was not empty.

I love the vibe that this place has...the decor inside is fun and eclectic. They do the best flatbreads, freshly made and stuffed with gorgeous things, they sold out of their smoothies but I'm a coffee fan so a large cup of coffee hit the spot.

Pitfield London is coffee shop located on Pitfield Street close to Old Street offering coffee, cakes, sandwiches, flatbreads and salads in a relaxed quirky environment. Pitfield offers 30 minute free WiFi is you ask the cashier for an access voucher. Pitfield features a retail area which serves as a shop selling very particular furniture, plants and decorations. Pitfield's strongest offering is its location and staff. While the service is not stellar it is always delivered with a warm smile and accommodating flair for customers choosing to eat-in. Its location attracts the work lunch crowd as well as locals and tourists in the area. I myself visit before heading into work as it serves as a good alternative to the chain coffee shops in the area. Pitfield's food and beverage offering is both, hit & miss and on the expensive side. For example the porridge is dry and resembles concrete mix, while the avocado and toast not bad at all. My experience has varied significantly between times I have eat-in and chosen take-away. While the portions of their salad box is ridiculously small, the most consistent item in their menu is the flatbreads. The coffee is okay and consistent. I would highly recommend it for individuals in the area seeking a large relaxed placed for a meeting or a quick catchup. My suggestion for food and coffee would be to walk further down either Pitfield Street or to Hoxton Square as there are a variety of other places offering better food at better prices within the area.

The place looked very nice from outside and the staff friendly. However, there unfortunately isn't much nice things to say about this place. The service was catastrophic (getting asked for your order 4 times and still getting it wrong isn't usual, getting orange in your smoothie when the one you ordered didn't have any, etc.). The food was good but the value for money wasn't there. It was expensive compared to other places where we ate that were as pricy but delicious. Overall, I think that the manager (at least I think she was) was full of good intentions. But the service didn't follow through nor did the food. Hope to see this place get better for the next time I come by!

Pitfield London marries a quirky East End cafe with a eclectic thrift store filled with unusual furniture, home ware and curiosities collected by Interior Designer Shaun Clarkson and displayed against bare brick and plank shelving alongside his eccentric design studio service.Pitfield is an assault on the ocular, whilst soothing you with scents of fresh coffee, cake and pastries. From the moment you enter you can't decide which way to turn or if you should just stop at the entrance to admire the flower arrangements and seasonal delights that adorn the bustling double door way that never seems to stop swinging open with yet another crowd of eager bargain hunters and art collectors. You never know what you will find in Pitfield - a new piece of furniture purchased on the latest series of 'Four Rooms", a celebrity or two grabbing a quick bite between photo shoots, a gaggle of LGBT students from the circus school across the street or a TV crew using the location as a colourful backdrop to a news cast or interview.Definitely one of the hip places in the East End to see and be seen. Prices vary, but for £10/head you can get lunch, coffee and a dessert that will leave you totally filled.

Popped into this café for a quick cup of coffee and a snack with 4 others, we ordered 3 flatbreads, 4 lattes and one tea, when the coffee's arrived all 4 had to be sent back as they were cold, the tea was the worst I have ever had and the flatbreads looked very unappealing. Those who were brave enough to use the toilets were not impressed, what a shame the premises look good on the outside, but if you were to ask me if you should visit my advice would be I would not advise it.

The food is always lovely and tasty and I love their array of flatbread and fillings but I do find the service a bit hit and miss. On my last visit the mug had a huge chip in it and when I asked for a new mug I had to wait until they had finished serving the que which meant my food was cold!

I'll never review a cafe based on one visit as there are just too many variables in the space of your 30min experience. This was my second visit to Pitfield Cafe near Old Street in London. Both times I decided to 'have in'.The first time they completely forgot about me and only after peering up from my phone and seeing no one else around I went to chase my Flat White. "I'll have it takeaway now thank you".I wasn't angry, I'm not unreasonable. I said to myself I would go back at some stage as this place had potential. The staff wear cool clothes and there's a touch of disdain. They sell remade antique furniture. They also have an 80s Star Wars arcade game. They're really cool.My second visit: I'll have a Flat White and some toast with spreads. After a long wait and seeing other customers get there's before more i thought 'oh no, not again'! But just as I was about to lurch to the counter, I saw someone coming. Great! I was hangry and in need for my morning fix...Cold. Burnt. Toast.Frozen butter.Cold coffee.I actually even heard someone else say "the coffee is always cold here".Very disappointing as this place looked and felt like a great place for a coffee. But perhaps a little bit less 80s arcade games and lava lamps and more customer service and quality.

Lovely decor - wooden floorboards / exposed brickwork. Star Wars arcade game in the cafe area. Some communal seating. Limited seating outside.Ordered 2 mini macarons and a latte (£4.95) and satin the window watching the world go by. Orders are brought to you. Macarons were so yummy I ordered another! Tea is served in a teapot and comes with teacup / saucer.Free wi-fi up to 1 hour (ask staff for code). Toilets located at side of shop area. My wife and son thoroughly enjoyed their lunches. The portions were large and filling and all our appetites were sated. All the food on display, from the salads to the chicken pie looked appetising and enticing, it beckons you to return, which I will. They have a breakfast board menu which needs investigating. The environment is clean and welcoming, service friendly, but not intrusive. It's also part shop, part cafe. Didn't investigate the shop, but loved the cafe. I also noted they do takeaway.
