Pinkerton in Fife

Food is really good, servers are attentive friendly and polite. The menu is varied and very reasonably priced. We have now been several times and can personally recommend the food. We have sampled most of the menu and nothing has been disappointing.

Went here for a hogmanay party with wife ,brother and sister in law the night was a great success with reasonable bar prices and a well laid out buffet . There was a disco and photographer to take memories for everyone and a piper to pipe in the new year a truly memorable and well organised night ,thanks to Claire and all staff involved in a very good night.

Best value Christmas meal I've had. The portion size was very generous and food was excellent. Many places are not providing the extras this year, such as crackers etc. but this was not the case here. A great festive meal, great value for money and excellent service!

Wow,never be her before ,but what a lovely place,i had Christmas lunch with the congregation of St Columba church,my duck pate was delicious,the top was breast of chicken in cranberry sauce,moist ,tender well cooked,wow as a Head waiter myself ,i have to sayng all member of the staff was very accomodating,informative,and friendly

I was at this venue to find out if an event was being held there. I had been advised by the organisers that the bar had tickets and we went for lunch and to get surprise tickets for my mother. I was appalled at the attitude of the bar staff who couldn't care less about the event or me. There is a noticeboard on the way I'm not even a mention of the event. I checked the Facebook page to see the venue had only posted the event twice / three times most snd I had to go searching. I'm more concerned about the lack of service and the lack of I interest in the customer. I have made the organisers aware and I believe they have had more than my complaint about the venue and it's staff. I bet they have the cheek to charge the organisers too. Before you consider eating here the foods better at McDonalds and I wouldn't give them my business again. It cost me more than it was worth and I hope the event organisers wipe the floor with the venue. If I could I'd rate this venue as -5 stars There are some lovely places to eat in Fife especially around Glenrothes where it's not like fast food with an aggressive fast attitude. My partner was in tears after she had been treated like scum by the male member of staff she asked for information about the event and she even suggested they put a notice up on the noticeboard only to be treated like an obstreperous child in contempt and we paid fir the privilege. WE WONT BE GOING BACK SOCIALLY OR TO AN EVENT. In my opinion this is a scam business who rip off both customers in the bar and in the function space. I left my number for them to contact me but im still waiting which says it all and why im leaving this review. I'll also be posting on my social media page which has over 1 million followers who I hope tell others and only when it hits the profit line I suspect will people be put first. My parting words to Pinkertons are without customers you'd not have jobs !!!!!!! Think about it !!

Visiting th4 Glenrothes area, I chose this as a place to eat due to the high ratings on TA. Waited in the designated area to be seated, first waitress walked past and said nothing. The second waitress then came up and said that the kitchen had closed and that we should have booked a table on the weekend. We had arrived well within the opening hours and it was a Friday. Won’t be going back.

We called in here last week for lunch time, no problem being allocated a table, server quickly came to take drinks order (both soft drinks), a few minutes later our food order was taken. I ordered steak pie, mash & veg, what I got was stew (with thin gravy) with a pastry lid, chips & peas. My aunt ordered creamy chicken & leek pie with mash & veg. What she got was a nice looking pie till she cut into it, far from being creamy the sauce was watery. We then both order raspberry pavlovas which looked quite good on the plate, however this dessert was very sweet but the merengue was quite hard and tasteless. This place is a hit or miss for food, one visit can be good, the next isn't as good. As a foot note and nothing to do with the food & service, but staff needs to check out the spelling of the wording above the bar area, it should read DINING not dinning.

Just had a great filling breakfast, would highly recommend, kaleigh was our friendly waitress, very nice. ✅

A nice lunch and food is excellent value. Place was spotless and staff were were polite and friendly. A nice atmosphere also. Easy place to get to but car park I noticed is pretty dire!

I wont be going back here. Didn't enjoy the experience much. Was served by very young inexperienced staff who weren't in a hurry to help you.

Very poor food quality and unpleasant surroundings. Husband's soup was like jelly and mains weren't any better. Won't be visiting again .

Brilliant little pub for some lunch, the prices are fantastic and the quality of food is excellent! I will definitely be returning, the service was fast and friendly and the atmosphere of the place was great too!

Went for a Sunday lunch and walked into the place empty, which should have told us something. Being someplace cheap to eat I was not expecting a gourmet meal but was very disappointed in what the food was like. The cream of Chicken soup was lumpy and it actually resembled rice pudding and was sent back. The steak pie pastry you could have thrown at the wall for it to smash into pieces and the mash potatoes tasted like they were from a powder packet. The chicken burger bun wasn't toasted and soaked up the grease. We couldn't finish our meals. Cannot fault the staff as they were pleasant and very apologetic and gave good customer service. But we will not be back.

Been here a few times over the years and it never fails to deliver. Great service and excellent food. It was busy, but we didn’t feel we waited too long for our order. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Thanks for a great time.

I visited Pinkerton in early evening during a weekend stay in Glenrothes, after finding it among the restaurants listed in Bing maps. Service was prompt and efficient, and the menu has choices to suit most people's tastes. There is a pleasant atmosphere about the place too.I had scampi, served with chips, peas, salad, followed by syrup sponge pudding, accompanied by a pint of Stella Artois, all for a total bill of £12.45, which I considered very good value. All of it was very tasty.Having been suitably impressed by the venue, I will certainly return here if in the area in future.

Never enjoyed drinking or eating here if your not a regular you tend to be treated sh*t by staff. Place is unfriendly always has been. Need to stay aware in this place

Heard mixed reviews before visiting with friends last week.Had booked online but had not received confirmation so I phoned to check they were aware we were arriving that day,and surprise surprise,they didn't ,but I was assured that was not a problem,a table would be ready.On arriving ,we were shown to the conservatory area where a able had been reserved,although,there was nobody else there so we had the place to ourselves.Food order was taken,menu is basic usual fayre,nothing out the ordinary,but that suited our group and we ordered.Food was ok,but my burger was dry and the bap overcooked where the cheese had been melted.Service was fine,everybody seemed happy but a couple of noisy customers ,slightly the worse for wear,started singing,I had to shout to be heard over the very unwelcome intrusion to our meal.The bar was not busy,but the noise travelled right through to us and it spoiled the atmosphere of our meal.I would drop in here for a pint and snack were I on my own,but wouldn't take any company as my friends were not impressed with the overall experience.Not great,but very cheap,so.I suppose you get what you pay for.

Arrived lunch time was busy but served very quickly. Had their breaded fish, it looked like it had been cooked several times, their peas were also not great again looked as if they had been cooked several times ,all wrinkled, .There was a side salad all the usual but no dressing ,which is one of my bug bears always want a dressing on my salad . The chips were good ! The dessert was either chocolate fudge or carrot cake ,I had the carrot cake was a huge slab with ice cream but very very dry.Husband had the chocolate fudge he also said very dry.It is a cheap lunch £6.95 for two courses and what is supplied reflects the price . Won’t be back in a hurry.

Great breakfasts as always, value for money and cracking customer service. Everything was cooked perfectly, not full of grease and a whole fry up for £4.45 is excellent. Thank you for the great start to our morning.

I visited here at the weekend with my family, it was reserved the week before, as there was 10 of us, all adults. When we arrived the bar area was fairly quiet with plenty empty tables, however we were taking into the conservatory area to be seated, all the other tables in this area were joined up to form an 18th birthday party! None of us could hear each another talk due to the noise from the other guests, even my mother who was sat next to me struggled to hear me talk, it was appalling. We all had main meals only, which took 1 hour & 15 mins to arrive. We sat through the noise to eat our meals and moved into the bar area after our main meal. There were people shouting, children screaming & running around the room, singing, fireworks etc which is great had we been invited to the party but not just a random table sat next to them! When this was mentioned to the staff, we were rudely advised 'there is nothing we can do about noise'... What I don't understand is why put any table next to an 18th birthday party in the first place, as when we rung to book this, we were given the time to arrive by your staff!!? It was a farewell meal for a family member & was absolutely ruined by the noise & staff who need to learn what customer service actually is!!!!! You were happy to take our £100 but not any criticism, I would not recommend & certainly won't be back...

Came here with relatives for a bar lunch. Staff were helpful and pleasant. There was a good selection of food on the menu to choose from.

Lovely place for a meal and lovely location in a quiet area..there’s plenty room for functions a wedding aparty they will cater for anything.

Haven’t visited this place in years until tonight. On arrival only one car in the car park which should’ve said it all.

Great food freshly made and all at terrific prices, staff always very helpful and pleasant. The fish is especially nice.

Breakfast on a Sunday is exactly what we all need! And the dinner menu has a good variety to choose from. The prices are low and the quality is very high! Foods fab! And the staff are great nothings ever to much trouble, i am a very fussy person and they don't make me feel like my requests is a hassle for them. Would definitely recommend 100%

Booked here as it is close to work for birthday lunch, 13 of us in total. We had booked, however not preordered. The service was fast and friendly, and seated with drinks within minutes. Orders taken, no mistakes and staff are attentive. Food is very nice in here, mixed selection was ordered by our group and everyone was happy with their meals. I'd recommend anyone who hasn't been here to give it a try. Not expensive either, and they have meal deals, light bites and the bar has a nice atmosphere just for a drink.

We (myself & aunt) visited again for lunch and although the staff & surroundings are still very pleasant, and we didn't have long to wait for our meals which were piping hot when they arrived, we were both disappointment at the quality of the food. The chips I had with my meal were bland & had no taste and the some of the `white' of the fried egg was still raw, the burger ordered by my aunt, was quite tough, no taste of cheese as this had all melted into the normal morning roll (not a burger roll). I did mention these issues to the member of staff when paying the bill, still charged full prices. The other issue I have is as far as we could see there are no designated parking spaces for disabled drivers/passengers near the front door. Is this something management could look into please?

Aquí hay un montón para el desayuno, siempre en un domingo, pero estoy seguro de que hacer un sábado 10 - 12.

Went here for Christmas Dinner with the family, 7 of us together. Food was served buffet style, really enjoyed the starter and dessert options but the meat I had for my main was pretty bland. I understand they are cooking on masse and all needs to be served at the same time, but some seasoning on the meat (beef in particular) would have been nice.Staff all really friendly though, and service was good.Poor choice of cider too, Magners or fruity stuff, no real or traditional ciders available.

By far an excellent night in terms of service and food. Good size portions, hot and delicious despite it being very, very busy. Cannot fault it in any way except the disco was pretty pants.

Went there for a Christmas Party Night . Three course meal and DJ. Meal was good had their turkey and all the trimmings very good their cheesecake was lovely as well and not scrimped on amount served. Place was fully booked lovely party atmosphere! Did, however, feel the DJ could have had a better banter with the customers. Place was lovely decorated and staff were really friendly.

Our first visit here (husband toddler and myself). Plenty of parking outside. Nice menu and well priced. Nice decor, toilets and staff. We look forward to eating here again soon.

The food is very consistently good we eat there every couple of weeks and have never been disappointed, the staff are very friendly and helpful and it's great value for money.

Had a great meal with my wife tonight, the food was fantastic and the portion size is massive, the staff were very friendly and the service was good.Try it as you wont be disappointed. 10+ stars

Came on Saturday for a bar lunch, must have recently changed the menu but was a good range of things on it. Service was good, food was tasty.

We visited last Sunday, was rather busy when we arrived and were told we could only sit in the bar area, but that was fine, can't complain as we did not book and the girl explained they did have a large table up in the restaurant area just bout to arrive, the food was lovely, staff were very quick to greet us and get us a table. Only down fall was the coffee, the waitress said they use a coffee machine but its not nice at all, when i told the waitress she said they also do have Nescafe and she went and made a fresh one for me which was spot on. Overall it was a lovely place to chat up for a cheap lunch with friends but next time i think il book as it seems a busy little place.

Went on a Thursday evening got a pleasant surprise as wasn't very busy but the food was fab! Was very quick service and was greeted with a smile. Thursday is burger night so we thought cheap and cheerful and the burger was delicious i do recommend the pulled pork burger.

Just been too pinkertons to try the new menu, had the loaded potato skins and the chicken and black bean stir fry wasn't included in there special offer but both where very tasty and well worth the money. Staff cheery as always.

Pinkertons have the best carbonara I have had out. Really like the new menu & variety of choice. Portion size is great for value of money

Arrived and car park had 3 cars in it therefore I should have guessed the food wasn't great, but decided to give it a try. We both ordered chicken and vegetable soup for starters, what arrived was a brown coloured gloop with fine strands of what I assume was chicken floating on the top, obviously it had been put through a blender ( badly)For mains we ordered one if the special burgers and fish with salad no chips no cucumber. The burger was cheap frozen rubbish and was like leather (McD do a much better job) more than half of this was left uneaten due to the poor quality, the bacon on top was also poorly cooked with a lining of chewy rubbery fat. The fish arrived with cucumber on the plate so was sent back, when it arrived for the second time the fish and peas were warm at best certainly not hot, the small portion of salad provided instead of the chips amounted to 3/4 forkful - hardly a salad. In summary- BEST AVOIDED

Visited here with my husband for lunch. After visiting for many years with family it was such a disappointment today! It was 2 courses for £8.95 instead of 3 courses for £7.95, no big issue as I thought this was still good value for money. Ordered our food which took 20 minutes for the starter to arrive, there was maybe 5 tables including us in the place. When the starter arrived I nearly laughed. 2......yes 2 small breaded mushrooms was what was on the plate! After our 'starter' we then had a 35 minute wait for our main course. I had ordered chilli con carne and rice. The chilli con carne was mince, beans and chopped tomatoes. No spice in it at all. So so disappointing. We didn't dare order desert after it taking so long to for our starter and main to arrive. Won't be in a hurry to return I'm afraid.

Visited for lunch at the weekend with family members,7 of us in total,food was pretty decent but my dad had the chilli and when I asked for more chilli sauce as it was very very dry we waited almost 10 mins and no sign,went to the bar and asked again and the girl knew nothing about it,it arrived 5 mins later when he was nearly finished so not exactly ideal,just a simple oh there u go and walked away.Good portion size but the plates r that small that food is almost falling off the side.What really disappointed me and this is not the first time,went to order more drinks at the bar as no waiting staff to be seen,we r told to wait there and take them back to the table myself.This is not good,I am an assistant manager in a busy hotel and I would be outraged if I heard this,surely it's not difficult to bring drinks to the table,after all I thought that was the job of waiting staff.Since it's been taken over the menu has changed and it's got more choices so that's good.We will be back as its local.

Came for lunch with a group of friends. The service is the quickest I think I've ever experienced! Food was good and 3 courses for £7.95 from such a huge choice made it great value too. Only downside was the prawn cocktail being served in a pudding bowl, would have been a lot nicer in a glass dish. Apart from that I couldn't fault it and hope to be back soon.

Attended with a party of ten for Christmas Party Night. Been going here for years and never had cause for complaint. Other tables were being served their main course when we hadn't even had our order taken. Waitress clueless about the menu and kept disappearing to the kitchen to find out. The chef must have been in Kirkcaldy as she took so long. Starter of soup was fine but we had finished by the time others were served their starter. Main course warm but not hot and waitresses shouting out what they had on plates made me cringe. Mediocre main course which is expected for party night fare but considering what was charged for a very small plate of cold food was downright insulting. The desert was a joke. 2 of us nipped to the loo and when we came back we had the wrong sweet placed at our position. They had also put sweets down at places where no-one was sitting. When we finally managed to get hold of a waitress to say we had the wrong sweet, we were asked would it not do? When we said they had put down too many we were treated to a roll of the eyes. I was still hungry after the meal and never had that experience in Pinkertons before. I realise casual staff are employed to help out at functions but at least basic training should have been provided. The DJ looked about 12 and was ok, tried his best but I left to go home for some supper as I was starving.

I have visited pinkertons everytime I am in Glenrothes. Good food, good prices and lots of fun with friends and family over the years. Portion sizes are good, the taste is great and the overall experience is way better than those similar (ie, Foxtons)I will be back before the new year it would be wrong not to!

Great find! I always stop here when I am in Glenrothes! With 3 generous courses for £7.95, you can't go wrong. Great service, staff always look after you well.

Been here lots now as I live quite nearby. Had bar lunches with friends and family. Great value for money for a 3 course meal with lots of choice to mix and match what you want so there is always something you fancy. Never had a bad experience. I also held my Mums wake here about 6 years ago and everything was perfect as we wanted it to be. Been to some great weddings here too.

After visiting there website telling you lunches and dinners 7days a week went for bar luch for friends birthday only to be told by bar staff the kitchen is closed on a Tuesday.what a shambles

I was looking for a place to go for some lunch with my grandad. We saw the place in the passing and thought we would stop and give it a try. When we entered we were pleasantly surprised to find that Pinkerton's offers 3 courses for £7.95 at lunchtime which went down a treat considering we almost considered going to Wetherspoons! There is a wide variety of food available in this offer ranging from pasta, pizza, burgers along with traditional pub favourites! For an extra £2 or so it allowed you to upgrade the 3 courses to include an 8oz steak which I thought was great value. I opted for onion rings with sweet chilli dip to start followed by spaghetti bolognese and finished off with chocolate fudge cake and ice cream. Having placed this order we couldn't fault the service at all! It took about 5 mins to receive our starters which were swiftly cleared from the table, and again 5 - 10 mins wait for the mains and desserts. This made it excellent for someone who may want to come in during their lunch break or just simply has a very busy schedule and needs fed quickly! Overall I couldn't fault the food, staff or service. It was all quick easy and efficient ... and most of all the food tasted great!

Had lunch here,ordered vegetable soup for starter I received pea and ham or something very like it, soup was merely warm certainly not hot. Also ordered chicken wings which were overcooked and too crunchie. Both ordered macaroni cheese for main which was lacking in any form of cheese sauce and pretty bland. All in all disappointing indeed. On the plus side the staff were friendly and polite, service was far better than the food. To sum it up, food filled a hole but I can say nothing better.

Hi my elderly mother was here a couple of wedensday's ago and i would just like to say the staff that servered my mother were brilliant. She came for lunch herself and as she has some health issues, but she said she came here and the girls were excellent and looked after her well. She cant read very good as she has poor eye site but the girl that took her order read it all out took time to speak to my mother and made her feel at ease and took time to have a conversation with her and she made my mothers day as the girl went out her way to make her feel at home so for this i thank you and she will deffinatly be back as she doesnt stop talking about the place. Thank you to you and your staff!

Three of us went in for lunch again recently, we go regularly to Pinkertons. Excellent value on the 3 courses for £7.95 and a great range of choices. Service is very friendly and fast. We all went for the goujons to start with. Followed up with scampi, caesar salad and sausage and mash for mains. Lastly a pudding and we were stuffed by the end. Grandparents were impressed with the selection of malts behind the bar too. Will be back again soon.

It is a bit of a hit and miss for this restaurant.The first time I've been was well portion sized, hot and really competitively priced! Staff were nice and friendly.However there are times when I went back and the food was definitely sub par level as well as being lukewarm. After a few disappointments me and the family have decided not to return, which it is a shame as we did enjoy this place before.

21st June @ 2.12 !! Again im here for lunch! Food great value for money! Can't fault the deal u guys offer! But today the waitresses let u down!! Tables left uncleared yes it's busy! But two of the staff have time to chat and play at hair dressers behind the bar infront of us all?? Totally unprofessional !!!

Hit or miss somedays very good, then last week burger so hard could not chew it. Staff good and venue clean.

We have had loads of bar lunches here, very varied in choice and value, really busy so try and book in advance ,even if yo just pop in the staff will try and accommodate you, there is also a large function suite for 120 guests reasonably priced to hire, we have attended a few functions here and the meals and buffet are great, we'll recommend .

Living in Canada and having friends and relatives in Glenrothes I have often frequented Pinkertons.The staff are very friendly as are the locals.I couldn't single any member of the staff as being the best as they all went out of their way to make sure that the customer was well taken care off

this is a busy pub and do a good 3 course lunch for around £7. The food is good pub grub. They have a good size function suite.

Brilliant service and food and the correct glass is used for your drink which shows the management attention to detail.

Visited this bar restaurant several times over the years and have never had any issues. Food good value and plenty of it. Service good and restaurant always busy. Never any hesitations in recommending this place. Also has a function suite for various occasions that is cheap to hire

The lunchtime menu here appears to be good value,2 of us had 1 course and a soft drink for about £12.My "tuna" salad was in fact a big dollop of very runny tuna and mayonnaise,not quite what I expected!The chips were good though.My O.H. had a chicken breast burger which was o.k. apart from the roll being a bit dry and tasteless. My wife,who is disabled had a problem with using the ladies toilets,she said that there is no disabled toilet facilities. The cubicles that she thought were meant to be for disabled didn't have any grab rails and the door locks didn't work.

Excellent lunchtime menu with fast service and cosy atmosphere.Staff are very friendly and meals are served very quickly, allowing workers to finish on time.
