Pineapple Xpress in Hackney

We waited about an hour and a half, almost 2 for our food. But the pineapple bowls were delicious!

Great place for a bottomless brunch. The vibe, the service, the food, it was all great!! Would defo recommend!!

I stumbled upon Pineapple Xpress looking for a Wing Wednesday experience in East London and I was completely blown away. Usually at wing Wednesday's the wings are usually trash and you get scowled at for asking for more, at PX however, the wings were huge, juicy, tender, with delicately balanced flavours, and excellent presentation. The service was fantastic, we went in around 4pm on a Wednesday and had the whole upper terrace to ourselves. We were checked on constantly, wings came out promptly, and when I was done I was given another serving to take home as I gave up after 18 jumbo wings. They really went above and beyond, and the quality of the food really speaks for itself. We also had the Shrimp Pineapples which was insanely good. If you're in the area you have to try this place, if you're not get yourself there - you won't be disappointed.

The day we visited PX, there was only one member of staff cooking, cleaning and serving and we wouldn't have noticed if the kitchen was behind a door. The waiting time wasn't affected, service was friendly and the quality of the food was still at a high standard. The cocktails weren't short on alcohol like most places. Prices are fair and the portion sizes are more than fine. I recommend though changing the hottest sauce on the wings, it tastes more like spicy vinegar.

Came across this place randomly. I had the jerk chicken, jollof rice & plantain. With a portion of the prawn starters. Food was 10/10 they have a nice roof top terrace and Matthew is a great guy. Will be visiting again IA

Good music, delicious chicken wings (Aloha was our favourite flavour followed by lemon pepper and then spicy) and good, attentive service.

I would gatekeep this place if I could. Went on wednesday 6pm and it was super quiet; pretty much had the whole place to ourselves. We hod a bottomless wings deal (have to book in advance) and the 3 flavours were all really good. In order of my favourite sweet Aloha, Lemon pepper, Hot/buffalo. Service was also very good. Would recommend!

Great hosting from Matt and the team. We had the whole place to ourselves hosting an awards night for our sports team. The Bluetooth speakers, microphone and Tv really came in handy as well as friendly bar staff and delicious food.

Customer service was great. Guy called Matthew is a top guy with good energy makes you feel welcome. Food was delicious also nice place to go and eat

I was actually excited for this but didn't meet my expectations at all.. The Mac and cheese balls were basically mozerella sticks and felt microwaved.. and the wings marinade was basically oil or butter.. We had a one jumbo prawn and one jerk chicken and everything was tepid.. the jerk chicken did taste nice but the prawns batter tasted burnt and the prawns finish was quite tough. The roof top is not cute.. and the downstairs area the 'couch' is hard and I don't know if there's a fly infestation because the fly zapper was going off constantly. Will not be returning.

A must visit in Shoreditch, quick visit with a friend and we fell in love. The owners are friendly and the food was even better. Priced too well for London and I;d gatekeep it but do support them! We had the Jerk Chicken, the OG and Plantains. 10/10!

The food was amazing, the wings, the prawns and the tender jerk in pineapple bowls went down nicely. The atmosphere was nice, great hosting by owner Matthew made our experience. The venue also has a lovely roof terrace area and the tunes were all ol' skool bangers, my mum had a great birthday with the family. We will definitely be back soon. 100% recommend this place to everyone go check it out.

Was visiting London for work and wandered in this cute little place for a solitary dinner. Ordered Jumbo prawns and grilled Salmon with coconut rice. And Pineapple express cocktail too to accompany the food. Great experience in terms of ambience and great food too. This was my first taste at Caribbean cuisine and I loved it. A must visit in Shoreditch.

Had a great lunch with my friends (group of 5). The food was really tasty and I would highly recommend the Aloha wings (Buffalo wings if you like SUPER hot) , also the shrimp main was delicious. Really liked the vibe, the owner was friendly and accommodating and made a special effort to make my birthday experience although we didnt mention it was for a birthday beforehand. The bottomless rum punch is tasty and is stronger than you think!

The first time I came I had the mutton rolls and magnum punch it was delicious and the drink was so good. I then came again for the second time as I really wanted to try the pineapple bowls I ordered the lamp chops with jollof rice, it was fulfilling and so delicious I am due to come again and try the others. But defo worth the money, the price of the food and drinks is very reasonable not too pricey.

Food is very tasty. The set menu is a bit of a rip off, being a restricted selection. The restaurant was nearly empty, and service was friendly but inconsistent. The restaurant was cold, due to the upstairs roof garden.

Really amazing food- highly reccomend the shrimp 👌🏽 , good vibes too the music was mostly afrobeats funnily enough 😂 The venue is intimate and has high energy, there’s also a terrace upstairs which I didn’t see but I could hear there was a private event or something going on

We booked this venue for my birthday and had around 30-35 guests, from start to end we were welcomed and to have a private rooftop space was absolutely lovely, our own personal bar and good food really topped it off! A big thank you to Matthew and the team!

My friend and I were looking for somewhere to eat around the Shoreditch area and this place was highly recommended. It definitely did not disappoint! Small, intimate seeing. Although we had a booking, we had to wait a little while to be seated, which I noticed happened to a few people after it's throughout our meal. They were very communicative about the wait, and would check back regularly. I had the jerk chicken bowl, which was great; it's genuinely hard to find good Carribbean influenced food in London restaurants; they tend to be bland and lacking spice. Although this wasn't strictly jerk, the way they grilled it was amazing. Their Mac N Cheese is really flavoursome with pasta that hasn't been over cooked too. 5 stars overall but took 2 stars off for service because they had run out of the beer they suggested I order, took our order for plantain only to then let us know as the starters came out they'd run out so suggested chips instead, and they completely missed one of our dishes off the order but it was on the bill (they of course took it off). Would definitely go back because it's well priced, good food, and good vibes from other diners and the staff.

The food is excellent- The delicate infusion of flavors is perfect. The chicken wings were well seasoned and tender. The jerk chicken was succulent and flavoursome. Pineapple juice- Fresh. If you want a tropical explosion of flavours- You need to eat here.

Decent quality on the food, the rice was tasty and the prawns were just right. I was not a fan of the food stuffed in the pineapple, I felt the pineapple got in the way, making the eating experience a little tricky. The sauce was drizzled on the side, however a side pot of sauce would go down a treat to uplift the dish.

I did a too good to go the other day and when I arrived the workers didn’t know anything about to good to go and literally gave me two boxes of pineapple that had hair in it and a small container of rice and meat. I spent 6 pounds on it and it wasn’t worth the money.

Pineapple Express was recommnded by a family friend for my birthday dinner. I really enjoyed it. The menu was a good variety, the presentation of the food was off the chain. If you love lobster, you will be in heaven. Nice selection of Cocktails and the cost was very reasonable. The size of the restaurant made it feel very personal, not too big. The staff, the service was excellent. Highly recommended, but you defintely have to book inadvance.

Excellent and friendly service, food was absolutely amazing and to be all done by one chef 👨🏾‍🍳 speaks volumes hats off to Matthew. This was a treat for my sons 15th birthday, my daughter, son and Mrs also loved it and we will definitely be back again.

You get personal service, and the food is delicious. The price is reasonable. The cook is also the waiter, I was surprised, but he provided a lovely personal service. We didn't wait long for our meal.

One of the best places food wise, and the guy in there really caters to you! I would recommend for a chilled vibe with good music, and you can control the aux if need be. Never knew jollof in pineapple go together that well. Try the rum punch if you can!! Drinks are sweet for those with a sweet tooth and food is filling.

Really enjoyed the dinner I had here. We had a couple of starters, two mains, and a drink. It came to £53 for both of us including tip. This was including the discount we got on The Fork, so I would definitely use that again. The food was lovely, and they were very generous with the portions and proteins. Tbh we didn’t need the starters, as the mains alone were plenty. I had the seafood one with lobster and it was fantastic! The chicken wings were also lovely, would recommend! The service was good, the guy was friendly and accommodating. The only couple of issues were that the restaurant was quite cold as the door was open for most of the evening, and it was winter. Also, the food can be quite sweet and salty, so it would’ve been nice if he’d been around to refill water more frequently or left a jug. Understand it was quite busy though and it didn’t look like there were many people on staff.

This amazing, unique restaurant placed in the hub of shoreditch in Hackney road has a lovely soul food style feel with a twist. With the delicious food being served in and with a pineapple to perfectly complement the jollof rice (and sooth when necessary 😂😅). Be it chicken, lamb chops, or prawn it was all amazing!! All of this alongside great table service and an Amazong owner / chef in Matthew!
