Lived up to my expectations! To start off, the service was outstanding - the team was extremely friendly and attentive. We were one of the first to try their new beef season tasting menu and I have to say, every single dish was a hit, especially the scallops and the beef main. Highly recommended, and I’d come back again for their next season. Would give 6 stars if i could! Well done.

Great for A special night out. Did the short set menu and chose our own wine. There is a strong smoky smell as soon as you walk into the restaurant, the open kitchen is the first thing you see. Service was impeccable, and we appreciated the recommendations.

Me and my girlfriend had dinner there last friday evening. The menu at the time was centered around veal. It is, bread included, an 8 course experience with optional cheese and wine pairing. Highlights/positives: - The first course with the tempura and meat broth was absolutely incredible, it might be the best broth I have ever had in my entire life. - The seeded bread and bone marrow butter were delicious - The dessert, an apricot rice pudding with honeycomb was also delicious and actually perfectly balanced. - The service was perfect, very agreeable and very quick! Negatives: - The fish was overcooked! - The wine pairing, featuring a diverse selection of wines of independent producers exclusively from european islands, was slightly underwhelming. I think those wines were ok, but a bit below what I would expect from a wine pairing menu. I have in previous experiences in other restaurants found myself blown away by the wine selection.

From the entrance I was met with a thick smell of food. The ventilation was desperately unable to cope. The interior is slightly gloomy, there is clearly not enough light on the tables. Only sets are served here, and the theme of the set changes every month (due to a change in the main ingredient) This is interesting For some reason I didn’t like the beginning of the set. Either they were sober, or they just couldn’t get used to the smell and stuffiness. From the main courses everything was perfect. Tasty, interesting..... And when the smell disappeared it became absolutely great. Maybe it was the dessert wines that went to your head. In general, it’s good and interesting here, but for me it’s a one-stop restaurant.

Went for the veal tasting menu few nights ago. I don't understand how this place has so many 5 star reviews there are so many problems with the menu. A 4.8 restaurant has to be impeccable. This isn't! Don't recommended for the below reasons: Firstly the portion sizes are soooo tiny. We were hungry afterwards. They try to fill you with bread (that's 1 of the courses). Bone broth is a joke. Tiny portion. It's their first dish, so underwhelming. Tartare is like 2 teaspoons worth and it's over. The first 3 dishes are miniscule. The mains are probably 20% larger, it is upsetting. The first 3 dishes should be larger and showstoppers but they are not! They must attract the customers and make them think wow I'm looking forward to the next dish. I was scared, thinking omg will the next dish be this small and simple? Bread is ok, good that it's warmed. Butter is bland. Needs seasalt on the side, and more of it. The fish dish makes no sense. It's a veal menu... So much can be done with veal (cutlets, meatballs, breaded, carpaccio....) the fish dish is so out of place. It was nice, but give the option of another veal dish then. The 2 veal dishes are ok not amazing. Quite a small portion. They were cooked well. The dessert is a joke. It's like what they give at school dinners (rice pudding). Also extremely tiny will be about 3 teaspoons worth. I felt bad seeing other customers say wow thank you at each dish, when they are being served a tablespoon-sized portion of food. It feels like an expensive scam. It's unfair when the price is high. People come here for celebrations so usually one person is paying and you feel scammed. There are tasting menus in London around £45 per person much much larger than this. Ambience: very noisy street. Lots of honking. The door is kept open when the AC is on. Flies everywhere. Staff: very lovely. All the staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. I feel bad they have to serve these dishes. I could see tables look at the dishes and smile out of politeness. It feels like a 40£ menu that's bumped up to 75£ (after service it's actually 90£ per person)... You feel like you need to pay service because the staff is so nice, but the dinner is disappointing. Overall it's ok, I would not go back. Too expensive for what it is. Please fix the menu, increase portion sizes or decrease the price because it feels like a ripoff.

It's a regular visit for us when we are in London. First time at the new space but it's beautiful. Very spacious but also fitting with the tone of the old venue. I do miss the sounds of the birds etc that was in the original location. Great service, staff were really informative about the wines and food they were serving. We had were there for the chicken season, it was incredible. Wish the first 3 had been spaced out like they would have been previously as it gives you time to savour each one. The bread and butter was amazing as always. The bar attached to the restaurant is a welcome addition. Was nice to sit and have a drink beforehand. We'll be back!

What a wonderful restaurant! We went during the chicken month - this is how a chicken can taste! Paired wines elevated the already gorgeous food. Service is informative and extremely friendly - you can interact as much as you like. Our server was very knowledgeable about the paired wines - and we ended up with a few more wines to try than we'd got on our gift voucher. We will definitely be going back - the food, wine and service is better than some Michelin starred restaurants we have been to recently! Absolutely worth the money.

Overpriced, pretentious and just poor food. Started off with three “snacks” which counted towards the 7 course tasting menu, bit of a joke. The chicken parfait donut wasn’t good, just a cold, dry donut and the flavours weren’t balanced at all - trying to be different and it didn’t work. The chicken wing was a bit dry and was underwhelming and there was trout with “dehydrated tomato” which lacked depth of flavour. Second up (or should I say fourth) was the porridge with a side of soda bread. The porridge was quite nice but it was basically a bit of a risotto, trying to be different and if I’m being honest the soda bread kind of tasted like a bland dry chocolate muffin - bit weird really and I normally love a bit of soda bread. Then came the cod, this was actually good, balanced flavours but some of the greens were lacking inspiration. Then came the first chicken dish. There was a problem with the portion sizes throughout but this was the side of my pinky finger and I had two bits of gristle in it, unacceptable really for such a small portion. Oh and it was accompanied with an undercooked, unloved slice of carrot. Then came the second chicken dish. The chicken was so under season and watery, just not enjoyable. The pickled shimeji mushrooms made the dish really unbalanced and bought a “marmalade” flavour into the dish which really didn’t work. Only thing that saved this slightly was the piece of bread on the side - even if it was one sad little mouthful. Then the dessert. Raspberry and rosemary. Honestly his was just a soapy tasting mess without much texture. The sponge on the bottom was soggy, the only other piece of texture was the meringue on top and this instantly dissolved, so yeah, overall, pretty poor. Then we had some “petty fours” which was a jelly sweet - again this was weird texturally and tasted like soap. Overall the food portions were too small and the flavour combinations weren’t well thought out. The meal was very pretentious and severely overpriced - we all left feeling hungry and had to get food afterwards. I’m happy to pay a lot for a meal but for me, you have to leave feeling full and satisfied no matter how much you pay. The service was bang average. Throughout the whole course of the meal we weren’t asked about the food or how we were doing. They came over, put the food down, told us what was on each dish and off they went. No personal touch and no care for the customer. The only thing they did well was topping up our water. The price of the set menu was £75 but came to £90 per person with tips and I just think that is appealing for the standard of cooking and service we received. I would never go back, even for a free meal. Got a lot of work to do if they want to keep going in London, that’s for sure.

Terrible meal, terrible service and terribly hungry leaving - £90pp where 1 out of 5 of us had 1 alcoholic drink was outrageous. - Portions were tiny: They advertise an 8 course tasting menu but what i thought was 1 course (a few "snacks" at the start) was in fact 3 of the courses rolled into one. This didn't improve - the protein for each course was one mouth full. I left hungry and found myself eating again when I got home. - Quality of food: Not one course came without it's flaws. Everything had soapy undertones. One of the small chicken courses we had was full of gristle. - Service: No personality in the service. No one asked us how the food was and at the end of the meal when we came to pay, we expected the waiter to ask how our meal was but that never came. Took our money and walked away. One saving grace - they did keep our water glasses topped up throughout the meal. When we left, no one thanked us, no one even acknowledged us as we walked out which is something that I've ever experienced before. I eat out a lot in London and aren't usually one for posting reviews but the whole experience frustrated us from start to finish. I struggle to understand where the 4.8* rating has come from - there are so many better restaurants in London and I would recommend you didn't waste your time and money going to Nest!

Vegetarians beware! We checked beforehand and were assured that a vegetarian option was available. One course was missing completely with no proper justification and another looked like it had been concocted minutes before. Full price was charged. Generally, some courses much better than others, highlight was strawberries and elderflower. Overpriced in our opinion with wine list being particularly limited under £50 bracket

Food & Drink: 8/10 (Dessert: 9/10) The Duck Season Menu had 8 dishes including dessert. There were several dishes I would recommend: Photo 1. Duck Bone Broth – very tasty and pure duck taste as it was from the bone taste so it didn’t have any gamey flavour! Photo 2. Choux Farci, Beetroot Glaze – A very balanced taste between mince and beetroot which, for me as a person who don’t normally like beetroot, also like it. Photo 3. Jerusalem Artichoke & Chestnut – A very surprising dessert that ice cream with chestnut crisp on top, the best dish on the menu, I was shocked when I had the ice cream and chestnut crisp together that the strong flavour of chestnut was perfectly matched with Jerusalem artichoke. It would be better if the Duck Season Menu was a full ‘duck menu’ as the Pollock was not matched with other dishes, even though the taste was quite good! We ordered a red and an orange which were quite good, there were some other good wines on the list. Service: 7/10 Very friendly staff but it would be great if the staff could explain the dishes a bit better! Environment/Atmosphere: 7.5/10 Photo 4. The restaurant was close to Old Street Station so it was not hard to find! I quite liked the idea of how they presented the menu in a small letter sealed by a wax stamp! Photo 5. The open kitchen set near the entrance was a brilliant idea as well that caught my eyes when I walked into the restaurant. The score could have gone up to 8/10 if the reserved table was not arranged next to the column and the spacing between the tables increased! Price: 7/10 A set menu with a glass of wine x 2 cost £200+ which I believe was a decent price for this quality of food in Central London.

We had a great evening here, myself, Dad, and my brother. The staff were friendly and attentive, happy to explain (and re-explain) dishes and some of the wines we had. The only very minor fault was that rare lamb was given to Dad when he requested medium, but this was immediately rectified. The food was great, good enough to justify the £75 price tag. The lamb dishes were all strong but I thought the best dish of the night might have been the fish with what seemed like an elderflower beurre blanc, really well executed and perfectly cooked. The opening snacks were excellent, in particular we loved the tartlets (very delicate pastry) and the lamb sweetbreads fricassee, which had plenty of flavour. The dessert was fairly simple but we didn't need much after all the savoury courses before. We also loved the atmosphere, really charming without any pretentiousness at all. Bill came to approx £120 per head all in (tasting menu, two glasses of wine and a cocktail per person, plus service). A great choice for a special occasion with a laid-back atmosphere, we will definitely be back. A big thank you to the waiter (sommelier?) who ran after us out of the restaurant after I forgot my sunglasses, too.

We found the food perfectly executed, but not particularly inventive and very small portions. We left quite hungry still. Didn't feel like great value for money. Wine pairing was brilliant though. Toilets are far too dimly lit which makes using them actually quite difficult. The staff seemed to rush when explaining the dishes and wines and then quickly hurry away which my partner and I both noticed as a bit abrupt. We were very excited to visit after a wonderful experience at their other restaurant St Barts, but left this one quite disappointed.

Having been to the sister restaurant St Barts, I was a little disappointed with the experience at Nest. Whilst I understand these are completely different restaurants and price points, I was expecting a bit more. The food was tasty and well executed, but portions were a little on the small side. The main issue for me was the atmosphere and service. The whole experience felt rushed, which didnt make for a relaxing meal. The service was overly relaxed and didn't feel particularly professional. The main selling point was the wine pairing, which was very interesting and worked well with the food.

The food was good but didn’t blow us away.I like the concept of using one protein throughout the whole meal (duck) but in my opinion the dishes were sometimes quite small and not very original; it even felt pretentious at times. Having eaten at their last venue in Hackney, we knew roughly what to expect and they didn’t disappoint - in fact the experience has been elevated in my humble opinion. The space is nicer, they’ve made it feel cosy without being cramped. The open kitchen is a nice touch, and never feels too invasive. We had the seafood season set menu and every dish was so good!! The seafood was very fresh and we loved the flavour combinations. My least favourite was probably the artichoke dessert. While interesting it had the aftertaste of artichoke which wasn’t really pleasant but it was still a creative play on making an ingredient usually used in savoury dishes into a dessert. The reason for the 4 stars is because we weren’t really full afterwards as the portions were quite small so we had to go to another restaurant afterwards to have 2 plates of sushi and a starter. However, you could tell every dish had been carefully curated as the quality was superb.

We have been multiple times to the previous location and were impressed with the decor and ambiance here - keeping the old Dalston restaurant character yet giving it a proper modern makeover. Unfortunately Nest didn't quite meet our expectations sadly. As most people say the food really is delicious however we were both disappointed in how little there was for the price it all was. We weren't too hungry either - perhaps fish season is very light? The wine pairing seems to give you way too much wine for too little food. The service felt a little chaotic (waiters came across a bit flustered or nervous) with many different waiters throughout the night so it wasn't the calm atmosphere I was expecting (based on other reviews). If you want to experience tasty, experimental food definitely worth going, however just make sure you had a big lunch to compensate! However don't think we'll be going back.

I couldn’t leave this review quick enough. My meal at Nest was the single most enjoyable time I’ve ever had in a restaurant and I mean that from the bottom of my heart. I emailed on the off chance that I’d find a seat as a solo diner and was sat at the counter in front of the kitchen. Rather than making me feel awkward or perhaps in the way, the chefs went above and beyond to greet me and engage with sincerity and kindness. Nest really captures something that a lot of restaurants try to which is a sense of ease and calm in the midst of a fast paced and chaotic environment. You can tell that the team cares about what they do. It’s obvious they’re all on the same page. From the way they move to the way they plate. That said I haven’t even mentioned the food. It was all as mesmerizingly beautiful as it was truly delicious. The menu was focused on game and the dishes served were put together and presented in ways I’ve never even imagined possible. Nothing was boring, nothing was held back, it was all perfect. I couldn’t imagine better food if I tried. It was comfortable, thoughtful, and felt special. I’m glad I was able to be a part of an evening at Near. I’ll remember my meal there forever.

Seems I was the “lucky one” that found the bullet and feathers in the dish. And I should understand that it is normal situation, since they use wild birds. My suggestion will be: maybe just quit using this ingredient, because it didn’t even taste good. However, they deal really good with vegetables. Although the vegetables are only used as side dish. And the final desert was good too. The other thing I can’t tolerate is that they don’t change knife and fork after each dish. This is obviously not appropriate in a set menu restaurant.

Visited because of the raving reviews and it was better than expected! There were also a couple of unexpected (good) surprises. I will definitely recommend it to my foodie friends!

Loved this restaurant for dinner tonight. We went during the Chicken season. Every dish was exceptional. The service was relaxed whilst attentive. Very excited to come back in their new location.

I cannot fault this place. The food, service, everything was exceptional and the perfect birthday treat for my friend. Every staff member really knew their stuff when explaining the dishes to us. There was a slight mistake their side when booking, but they made it up to us straight away with a complimentary glass of fizz on arrival. I thoroughly recommend and hope to return soon for another season. Thanks guys!

I've been wanting to come here for such a long time and it exceeded my expectations. An I think that this may be my favourite restaurant in London. Every six weeks they changed their protein or Focus product and this month it was chicken. Every single dish that came out was well thought through and impressive in terms of looks and tastes. The best thing about the whole experience was its value. £65 per head for the whole tasting money Plus £55 per person for the wine tasting pairing. Half the price of most high-end tasting menus yet probably better than most I've experienced. Can't wait to check them out when they move to Shoreditch.

Excellent food! Enjoyed every course, and would definitely go again. Interesting wine pairing, also very enjoyable. They were very accommodating to my our dietary requirements and made well thought changes to the courses accordingly, which was very nice. The only minus was that it was incredibly hot inside, however they are apparently moving location soon. I'm looking forward to visiting the new location!

The restaurant is quite small and can be quite hot in the summer. That said, I thoroughly enjoyed the chicken season the other night and all three mains were amazing (one of them is fish). The menu is fairly priced and would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Beautiful food and exceptional service from Alex. Great wine knowledge shared and loved the ambience. Went to their sister restaurant St Bart’s but I actually liked Nest alot better. We heard they are moving to shoreditch hopefully they can keep the love, soul and dna of nest in their new venue!

Great service! We weren’t blown away by the food. They need to invest in some air con.

There's no AC in the restaurant, so it's quite hot for summer time London. As becuz of the transportation issue in London, we did arrive the restaurant late. The restaurant shorter our courses by taking the dessert sorbet automatically out from our experience without informing us. We understand the restaurant want to take as many client as they wish for every evening, but I do not think shortened our course without informing is a proper way as we are still paying the full price of the menu.

Can't praise this restaurant enough! The food was sublime, the wine we chose a perfect match for the lamb based meal. Must also praise the adjustments made for one of our party who had a minor dietary aversion. The staff were all so attentive but not intrusive. We all had a perfect experience.

Amazing dining experience in a small restaurant in Hackney. Very interesting flavours, with the majority of dishes being highlights. The service was probably some of the best I've had in London with knowledgeable and friendly staff. I look forward to the next visit when the menu rotates.

Beautifully curated seasonal menu and wine list at Nest. Fantastic setting with only 7 tables. Service was great, really relaxed but mega knowledgeable! The food was delicious, each course perfectly balanced. Thanks you Nest for such an enjoyable evening.

Go for the food, just buy a bottle of wine instead. Tasting menu was fine. From the reviews expecting to be blown away but overall pretty standard fare. Broth was delicious. Pork scratchings were well trimmed, but mushy and lacked the crunch to carry the roe. Lobster toast was probably the best thing we ate. Most disappointing was the drinks. Pre-mixed martini that was probably a 3:1 vermouth. Very bitter and lacked garnish. At £52pp for a wine pairing I was expecting bold flavourful wines that would “cut through the fat” as our server told us. A semi-pettillant brut to start, with little in the way beyond a supermarket cava for flavour, a flat white, a light red with little on the nose or palate. The only saving grace was a delightful sherry to finish (certainly needed with a custard tart so sour I had to lose the topping). I would rather have spent £100 on a very nice bottle of white than come away feeling like I had been robbed. Would be a 3.5, but google doesn’t offer that option, and the food was certainly better than a 3*.

Highly recommend this place for a cozy romantic evening. Food is divine and they've just opened a new restaurant in Farringdon that won a star. Amazing staff and delicious natural wine.

For this quality (and quantity) of food in London, you could easily end up paying triple what you do here. Great great food and sustainable and responsible to boot. I've only been twice but it is fast becoming a favourite.

Brilliant. Seasonal set menu - ours was Duck. Every dish was amazing, the service was awesome and the price was extremely reasonable. Will 100% be back and would recommend to anyone who likes a set menu.

What a treat! Nest was a very special experience, tasting the same protein (duck season for us) prepared in inventive ways. Highlights were the duck dumpling, duck pie, and the beautiful cod dish. Service was attentive and friendly, though we had one waiter who took away my friends plate immediately after she took her last bite (felt a bit abrupt). Otherwise, it was an amazing dinner and we will be back to try other seasons!

I really enjoy coming back here with the seasonal changing menu. We came for the duck season and my favourites were the duck pie, leek, potato and cheese porridge, pollock and the BBQ duck breast. Staff are friendly and were also helpful with wine recommendations.

Lovely little spot in a great setting. The food and coffees were exceptional and the staff were friendly and polite. Will certainly be returning and bringing my friends for a breakfast burrito next weekend. The name is misleading - should be called Good Tacos!
