Wonderful restaurant with friendly staff. The food is unique and seemingly prepared with love. Let me just recommend the duck - I've eaten in some pretty expensive restaurants that couldn't hold a candle to that duck dish!

Another excellent meal highly recommend the Drunken duck if you like Spice. Plenty of non-spicy options

We love, love, love this place! I've been here with my wife a few times now and never have anything less than a great time. I took a little bit of a different tack than last time I came and eschewed the seafood for once and had the duck instead.... It was great! The chicken wing starter was also very good. Friendly and efficient service, good value. Will be coming back!

Lovely, friendly owner who was very helpful in preparing some dishes and a dessert for one of our diners who was vegan. Great variety on the menu and this local restaurant has a certain charm about it. Food cooked to order so time to enjoy wine, cocktail or a soft drink while savouring the relaxed atmosphere.

The people that run this restaurant are incredibly nice and give great hospitality. I visited with a friend on a quiet and rainy Wednesday evening and we were the only two people in the restaurant which made me feel a bit apprehensive but also very sad. The menu is decent mix and there are some things for vegetarians. We tried two of the starters the traditional dish and the vegetarian dumplings which were really nice. For mains my friend had the duck and I had the vegetarian stirfry which were both nice. The lemon grass crème brûlée was delicious.! I feel like this is a nice local restaurant local amidst a sea of fast food and that we should try and support it a bit more.

glamorous it's not but the food is relatively decent it's basically a cafe type layout with restaurant aspirations having said that it's got a lot of 5 Stars but that's all relevant to what you're used to I suppose,

We dined here on a quiet Sunday evening,with two other friends. I had the barbeque chicken wings for starters,and sea bass with mash potato and salad as a main course. It was very nice.

Very, very good food and affordable. Check it out. We took our teenage kids and while the menu isn’t expansive, it has a great variety of food including some authentic Mauritian food and some familiar favourites too. Restaurants like this deserve the chance to thrive so come and check it out! If you like your food and enjoy trying something different, you really won’t be disappointed

We had a lovely lunch today. We both had the grilled fish for mains and variations of chicken wings to start. We felt really relaxed due to the warm welcome and the food was delicious. I heartily recommend this restuarant and we will certainly go back very soon.

The wonderfully slow-cooked cinnamon flavoured duck is the star dish. The Mauritian spices are very specific and they do not compromise for the bland British palate (although the kind staff will remind you that it is a spicy dish). Everything, from the creamy prawns starter to the *should-be-famous* chocolate and orange cake is delicious!

Had a lovely dinner last night at Pinch of Salt, the food was delicious and probably one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time - we had the Prawn a la creole and the drunken duck which were both flavourful and tasty, with the calamari and Mauritian split pea fritters to start. The tables were clean, and food arrived in a promptly manner. Staff were attentive, polite and welcoming. Highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion. We will be returning soon

Chose the seafood platter for three adults. Delicious. Succulent fish, crunchy prawns, and soft calamari. Superb. Then we had the chocolate and orange cake - lovely flavour, moist, with a rich icing. Stumbled upon this gem by accident. The food and the drinks were fabulous, authentically syncretic and made us want to jump on the first flight to Mauritius! Amazing! Definitely try the Gato Piment and the slow-cooked duck! The duck, with cinnamon and chilli heat, is distinct from everything we’ve ever had. The chocolate and orange cake is heavenly. The restaurant is clean and has a nice atmosphere. Our waiter was professional and very kind. Verdict: 10/10!!! We will absolutely be returning!

This is such a little gem I’m surprised it wasn’t more packed the service the food everything was fantastic! We had the prawns to start then the seabass and then the chocolate soufflé and it was honestly so fresh and tasty! We will definitely be back!

I don’t normally take the time to write reviews, BUT, I can’t stop myself here. I have had food delivered, picked up and eaten from their menu. I might also add that I am a pescatarian, so only eat seafood. The food from POS is absolutely beautiful, it’s consistently fresh, delicious and top rate. The fish is always delicately flavoured, soft and glistening with that perfectly cooked look and texture. They produce the most succulent calamari in fondants and in a burger, which is ALWAYS soft and melts in the mouth. Their food is consistently great, how they get the merest hint lemon into the batter astounds me. I just adore the seafood here and can’t understand why they don’t have a waiting list and a queue out the door any night of the week….

A quality little Mauritian restaurant in East barnet Village.... it was my sons 24th birthday ! As we're of Mauritian decent, it's only fitting we checked out this place, as it's only down the road from us.... food was tasty and well presented.... niceness

Live locally so have walked past a thousand times, so glad I have finally been in. Delicious food, reasonably priced. I guess it's not more popular as it's a more unusual cuisine. We were asked if wanted our Creole dishes spicy or not. There's a range of other dishes on the menu too. We will return.

Really tasty meals, packed with flavour and good portion sizes. There were good options to satisfy a broad group, including vegetarians. Sadly, I think the only let down is the time it takes to get the food out, we did wait a long time and that put some of our table off.

Enjoyed a lovely date night at Pinch of Salt. We had the chicken wings to start which were perfect and then the seafood platter which shall live long in the memory. Our waitress was quirky but charming and the atmosphere was not bustling nor deadly quiet. A real local jewel in East Barnet!

The family went here for Mother’s Day and it was well worth the visit. Great Calamari and Prawn starters and the drunken duck was incredible, totally different to anything I’ve tasted before. Really original food. House wine is fine and choice of beers is good. Service on the nail, nothing too much trouble. Thanks for a great meal.

My husband and I decided to have our wedding meal here as heard/read good reviews of Pinch of Salt. Glad we did, as they made our wedding meal very special. I had a lovely surprise when I walked in, they had decorated the restaurant with balloons going across the wall with the words -Just Married! I was very touched that they did this for us. The sevice is excellent and the food is lovely. Very friendly staff, service with a smile. Great value. Thank you Pinch Of Salt for making my wedding meal special.

I've eaten her before....I was excited as my mum is Mauritian so was expecting......Mauritian food..........apart from mein frire (fried noodles) and fried rice and possibly 1 other thing there is nothing else Mauritian on it.... the mein frire was OK..... but Woodgreen, Turnpike Lane or Tooting is the place to go for authentic Mauritian Food. I'll come back when there is actually a Mauritian menu.

Good food at good prices with good services. It is, to coin a phrase "all good"! There were 8 of us, so all in all a fair range of dishes were ordered, and the whole thing went without a hitch. It's also clean and the décor is simple yet very effective. Highly recommended.

We went to a pinch of salt for dinner and it was lovely! The restaurant itself is a very relaxing atmosphere and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. We had calamari fondue and the honey garlic chilli chicken wings. Both were delicious! For mains we had sea bass and the stir fried rice with seafood. Lots of flavour and a great portion. I’m looking forward to coming back to try more!

I've had a meal with a friend this lunch time and I must say the food was well prepared and it was delicious. We are lucky to have this place in our East Barnet Village. Hope many people would take advantage of this place.

My wife and I have been to this restaurant twice now because it is quaint and quiet for our 14 month son to enjoy a meal and not disturb other diners and on each occasion have had fresh, good tasting food and a relaxing, friendly environment. The comments about to decor are not untrue. But, it doesn’t pretend to be the Ritz. Whilst it is a understated, there is nothing wrong with it at all and in fact, I find it part of its charm - probably just like any small authentic restaurant would be in Mauritius! What many reviews fail to mention (aside from the great service and food), is that this small restaurant is EXTREMELY clean and well maintained. For us and the things that matter - the high chair comes out immaculate, the tables are clean to touch (even on the underside), the salt and pepper shakers are clean, the food comes out hot from the kitchen, the cutlery is shining, the toilet etc… I could go on. It’s rare to find such attention to detail in your average restaurant. If you’re happy to experience no frills authentic, fresh and tasty food in an immaculate quaint restaurant with excellent service and at a reasonable price - you should go here. The staff are fantastic as well and have made us feel welcome and cared for on both occasions we’ve been.

We have been here twice now. Nice to have something a bit different to go to. On a plus side the food is tasty and reasonably priced which has brought us to go twice. However the service needs some attention. The waitress on Saturday evenings, whilst friendly, lacks experience. She forgot our drinks, forgot to clear another customer's table and forgot to take payment for another and left them waiting. She also asked us if we had had our mains which was baffling. There was also an issue with the salad that was almost non existent for a couple of tables. This could be a great little restaurant but needs to cut down waiting times and train the staff to a more professional standard.

We had an excellent meal at this restaurant. The menu is varied but we focused on the favourites as recommended by the staff. The calamari fondant was beautiful, perfectly seasoned and crispy coating with delicious soft calamari inside. The chicken wings, wow! Perfectly cooked, flavourful and generous portion. For mains, partner had creole prawns, which looked and tasted delicious. And again, very generous portion. I had the daube de poulet which was delicious and had a fantastic sauce. To cap it all the staff were really great, and the owner super friendly . We’ll definitely be going again.

Very friendly local small restaurant. Relaxed decor and atmosphere and very reasonable. We really enjoyed the kalamari and prawn fondants, together with the sea bass fillet and prawns a la creole. It was an excellent deal on Groupon and the restaurant were happy to upgrade soft drinks to wine for a small difference. The creme brulee was tasty too. The Manager served us and was very friendly and quick with the hot meals presented! A lovely local restaurant not ripping you off! Thank you, we'll be back soon.

First visit last night with friends visiting from the US. Everything was excellent. The chicken wing starters spicy but without overwhelming the flavours. The Mauritian 'Gateaux Piment' starters subtly flavoured and fun finger food. All the mains were beautifully prepared and generous. I'd especially highlight my ribeye steak with the extra tiger prawns. Because it was an indicator of the quality of the cooking and products - superb if done well - disaster if not. In this case.. superb! And loads of massive prawns - enough to share in fact! And the chips were perfectly cooked as well. No sauces were offered - but it is a high compliment to say that none were required or missed!! The desserts were great too, the especial star being the generous helping of deliciously moist Chocolate & Orange Cake. The staff and manager were attentive, helpful, and friendly, to a fault. This is a first venture for the proprietor, and while not everything is perfect quite yet, it is all going in a splendid direction. On top of that, the value is Excellent!! A fantastic addition to 'The VIllage'!!! We wish the enterprise all the success it deserves!

First time visiting and I had a lovely time. All our food was perfectly seasoned and my steak was cooked just right. Everything we ate was delicious. The prices were fair and reasonable. I would definitely return here. The waitress was very personable, helpful and friendly and the owner (Loukman) was wonderfully polite and welcoming.

The food at this restaurant was Excellent, we started with calamari and chili sweet chicken wing ,this was cooked to perfection and tasted great , main course of grilled seabass with fries and rice was also very delicious too. Served by Lukman who was attentive and very helpful, A1 service. We will return and try the calamari burger next time. 5 star restaurants.

Firstly, whoever left a bad review is just too fussy!!! We had read the reviews before going and its all lies. The decor is lovely, made me feel like I was on holiday. Its VERY clean inside. We had the garlic honey chilli wings and my partner ordered 2 portions to take home! The lamb was cooked perfectly. I had the prawn creole dish and tomato salad on the side. I ordered 2 to take home! There was not one complaint we had. The service was lovely. The calamari was amazing. I could go on and on but its obvious I am Impressed and ill definitely be visiting again. We drove 40 miles to try this place and we will definitely do it again.
