Pigalo's Speakeasy North Shields in North Tyneside

I had a borderline religious experience eating the chorizo trashbrowns. Incredible.

I feel like I made the wrong choice of food or perhaps this place is a bit overrated. Definitely do not think the "Chicken Parmo" is worth paying £19 seeing as though chips (which weren't that nice in my opinion) made 75% of the meal. The coleslaw had too much mayo in it, and there was barely any chicken on the plate. The best part about that meal was the BBQ Brisket. The seasoning on the chicken is same as pizza (tomatoe base) which I wasn't a fan of. Pizza pies looked tasty enough, if its your thing.

Totally recommend this place . The food was amazing and the portions were massive . First time we have been . It certainly won't be our last .

This edit is to reply to Pigalos: thank you for your response and apologies. However I am sorry I can’t agree with you. During my booking I did ask for a low table as we were going with A dog. Never said that in plural. And yes, I do also agree I said that’s not my problem to Aaron, which could have sounded quite hard, but because all I wanted to hear since the beginning was an apologies for the inconveniences, which I did get on the whole conversation with Aaron. I am sorry, as I did really enjoyed your food the times we went in or order to take away. But my message wasn’t as you said, and the conversation neither. Booked a table 2 days ahead as we have people coming over from another city only to try the place. We got a confirmation of it. On the morning of the booking we received a message and an email cancelling the booking. We explained the situation of our friends and got as a reply that the system the use for booking is too old and they can’t afford the “flashy ones”. When I said they shouldn’t then send emails confirming got the same response. I said that I can’t see how is that my problem (and truly think it is not my problem, I booked a table and got an email confirming and needed to explain friends who are driving 2 hours that we don’t have the table anymore). Instead of getting a sorry for the inconveniences all I got was “if you don’t like it don’t come” “bye”. REALLY rude. Just don’t even put an option to book a table online if all will be a guessing game (we tried to book by phone first and they said it has to be online) or at least send an email that make you aware of the situation. I really liked the place and went there plenty of times. From today? Being treated like that? Bye. And I will make sure everyone knows how you treat your clients.

PB and Duncan burger really fantastic

Hidden gem. The food was very nice, and I couldn't recommend the marinara sauce enough. Beautiful. The waitresses were very professional and friendly, and the cook / chef we spoke to was friendly too. Highly recommend.

Travelled up from Teesside after seeing some videos online, and i wasn’t disappointed! Food was banging!!! Proper Deep Dish Pizza Pie!! Server with the specs was class as well, proper friendly gave us tips on how to heat up our left overs as the portions were insane and we couldn’t finish it in one sitting. Deffo worth the trip and deffo going to be coming back!

Pizza pies were so good and hard to finish. Great portions. Only one slight criticism on the Frickles they could have had more flavour felt due to the size they lost any real tang I'd say cut them smaller to be like coins. Service was good and polite and pretty quick service. Would of been nice to see an ale on the menu. 100% Will be back again

OMG 😲 fabulous food, didn't disappoint. First time here, we went on Friday, just as opened. No one else in here but the owners said North Tyneside restaurant week next week. The hubby got the Farmhouse deep dish, I got the The Pig stack and shared the fries, garlic parmeson season 😋. Unfortunately I didn't take photos which I regret, the food brought out was exactly as owners photo. The food was cooked from scratch and everything was spot on. The owners was attentive without being overbearing even apologised for hubby drink not being refrigerator even the cup of tea was superb 👌. The owner then offered to box what we left (eyes to big). No attempt to hurried us on. Either a lye down was needed or a brisk walk afterwards. Definitely coming back!!

Tried the deep pan pizza and wow 🤣 I could have finished the individual but I'd possibly need rolling out. Amazing taste and different to anything I've had. Shame they don't do a wider selection of beers but can't say it's a negative as still likely cater for most.

Doesn’t disappoint. First time eating here and will definitely be returning. £47 for 2 drinks, 2 pizzas and 2 sides but honestly I can eat for England and it was way too much for 2 people. We left with half a pizza each and the majority of our sides so personally think it’s good value. The waitress serving is today was lovely. Pizza crust was like a flakey pie crust, plenty of filling but not ridiculously sloppy, fresh, cooked spot on. Would recommend.

Came from Birmingham to try the Chicago style pizza and it was totally worth it! I highly recommend to book in advance as this place is in high demand. The portions are really generous and the staff are more than happy to box up any leftovers. I had a couple slices left and they were still great the next day. Thank you for the great service and I can't wait to till next time! Bonus note for bringing a pet: dogs are welcome inside, just make sure to make a note when booking and send a message in advance.

Visited on a Saturday afternoon around 1300, I had pre booked but this was not required. Service was very good, and the food was epic. Pizza pie delicious and the burger was unreal - best in north east?

Twice we’ve tried to order for collection from here and both times the order has been cancelled. Won’t be trying a 3rd time.

Food was lovely . And chef came out to make sure we were enjoying it . Only 1 tiny thing was the girl serving never came across to ask if we needed another drink and we had to go ask her for the bill . Could not fault the food though

Ordered a chicken burger, deep dish pizza and a side of garlic fries and everything was brilliant. You can tell everything has been hand cooked and can appreciate the effort that’s went in to cooking these dishes. Will be back!

Their food kept popping up on my instagram feed and when I saw their pizza pie I had to go try it. I wanted to try their whole menu it looked that good. I ended up trying the PB&J burger, their Wings, giant frickles, and the vodka pasta pizza pie. I was not disappointed. Now I need to return to try the rest of the menu.

Got two pizzas delivered tonight, absolutely unbelievable. Thin crust and tasty as hell! Nice and light and full of flavour. 100% recommend.

Terrible service online - cancelled my order a hour after it was made because I was out of their delivery area - despite 1) taking my order an hour earlier and 2) having previously delivered to my address. Pathetic.

What a fab little restaurant. I booked online a week in advance for a table of 5 after hearing so many rave reviews. Our table ordered 3 x 10’ pizzas and 2 x burgers with a couple of sides… why we ordered sides is beyond me though, considering the sheer size of the pizzas (oops). Oh my days - the food is unreal and the pizzas are just on another level. As expected, the 3 of us with pizzas ended up taking half each home with us lol so they’re definitely stodgy enough to share! But hey, that’s our lunch/dinner sorted for tomorrow. The woman who looked after us was brilliant with a great sense of humour making us all laugh throughout our visit. A lovely relaxed vibe inside with great staff and unreal scran. Highly recommend! 🐷

Delivery, pizza pie and new york pizza, I am sorry to say, without any exaggeration, these were the worst pizza I have ever had. Pizza pie was flavourless mound of tasteless mozzarella cheese, terrible. New york pizza was flavourless, base was naff, cheese was naff. I've had better pizza from the supermarket. They also forgot part of the delivery. Avoid if you're ordering pizza.

Oh my goodness! Wow! The food here is sooo good! I had the most delicious pizza, burger and fries I’ve had in forever… the Chicago deep dish pizzas are out of this world. The staff were absolutely amazing and so accommodating. Tonight was my first time and I’ll be racing back. Literally any opportunity 🤤

Me and my partner have ordered from Pigalos quite a few times now, and have visited the restaurant too. We have never had a bad meal there. And when the deep dish pizzas came on the menu we were blown away by how good they are. The chilli cheese bites were also fantastic. We understand delivery can take longer due to everything being cooked from scratch and its totally worth the wait! Fully recommend.

- 90 minute wait & still had to wait 15 mins once we got there - no napkins or cutlery for takeaway order - food was messy and kinda tasteless for the amount of ingredients and sauce used - burgers were a greasy mess and almost impossible to eat properly Overall 2/5 kinda disappointed

Great place! Deep dish pizza was amazing, burger was great, the mac and cheese wasn't that good, quite bland but presented lovely! Just needed seasoning! Also the beers weren't cold which stopped me ordering more than one, the service was great as the staff were lovely! Would deffo come back for the pizza alone!

Disappointed. We’ve tried many pizza spots across the north east and fancied giving the Chicago style a try. It was ok. My daughter’s normal pizza was really poor though, very dry.

Fantastic evening celebrating. We ordered way too much but it's lasted 2 days! We had a fabulous burger, juicy and delicious with the signature sauce, barbq chicken wings which were crispy fried then topped with the barbq sauce. Loaded fries were huge as a side with the burger and the option to half and half your pizza, gave us the opportunity to try more than one flavour. The pizza was unreal with so much cheese, heaps of toppings and a crunchy crust, amazing flavour and fully enjoyed all round both on the day and for tea the next evening. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, especially with trying to accommodate us for the birthday celebration. Communication for booking was quick and responsive. Price was really reasonable for what we ordered and knowing you can get everything on the menus to order and collect for take away is a good option for the future.

Absolutely fantastic place, I was blown away by the menu and was like a kid in a candy shop trying to decide, I ended up going with the willow the whip burger and a side of buffalo wings, the beef in the burger was delicious and the buttermilk chicken was even better, think I'll definitely be back to try one of the Chicago deep dish pizzas, I heard that only a hand full of people have managed to finish them so I'm going to give it my best shot, highly recommend

Definitely new favourite restaurant!! Food was incredible, huge portions and great value for money. Best pizza and burger in Newcastle!! The actual restaurant is lovely, very relaxed feel to it, great for date night. I’ve noticed a few negative reviews of people complaining about it being busy/booking problems, this is a small, intimate restaurant, and it’s unsurprising that it’s busy on weekends. We went during the week, and we’re seated at our booking immediately. Service was fantastic, thank you Adam and Aaron!! Couldn’t recommend this place enough!! Thank you!!

Just GO TO PIGALOS! The food here is amazing, the staff were all friendly and attentive, the restaurant is small but well done (Geordie signs inside were very funny). We ordered a little bit of everything. Wings and Hot Sauce were very tasty with a nice coating, the Chicago style pizza was unbelievable I just wish I had ordered a cheeky marinara sauce to dip it in. I was in cheese heaven! We ordered one of the speciality burgers to share and it was the best burger s I have ever had, loaded with cheese, onion rings, chicken breast and beef burgers. We will be going back as I want to sample more of this amazing menu. I have recommended to all of my friends and at any opportunity I will be going

First visit, lovely welcome, issue with table not being ready was resolved professionally, quickly and to our satisfaction. Staff lovely, food amazing! One criticism - furniture. My choice, but don't like high tables & backless bar stools. Wouldnt stop me from going back!

Can not fault this place. Staff were incredible, food was amazing. Listen to the servers when they recommend a 10inch deep pan pizza instead of a 14, which was amazing. Dirty fries were unbelievable and the mac n cheese was really good as well! Will definitely be returning.

What a great find. Our new favourite place. Instagram posts reeled me in and it did not disappoint. Insanely good food. Recommend booking a table. We witnessed a few walkins being turned away. Our family of 5, we all loved the burgers and fries, chicken tenders great too. And baked cheesecake too. Heaven is in North Shields, who knew?!! Visited recently with a friend for a pre-birthday lunch and it was honestly the best food I've had in a long time! The Hallouminati burger was honestly perfection. Adam was super friendly and helpful, there's plenty of relatively cheap parking just outside, and we are already planning another visit to try the deep dish pizzas! Thanks Pigalos 🤤

So I phoned the day before to book a table ,they said they were busy could I text them to let them know what I wanted table wise , On arrival at our booking time ,was asked do you have a table booked ,yes ,oh I'll just check ,on a bit of scrappy A4 paper ,ash there you are ,,,you can have any empty table you want , So 5mins later orders are taken for food and drinks , Drinks arrive warm ,tins of coke ,but ice in glass , 35 mins later the food arrived,ABIT slow ,but freshly cooked , So we ordered onion rings , sweet potato fries , house slaw ,and a 14" inch deep pan pizza The fries were top notch , massive portion, onion rings were massive,batter was crisp but a little greasy but delicious,the pizza ,looked amazing,tasted great ,but on closer examination,it's not really a deep pan ,the base is super thick ,but the toppings were good ,but this is how I felt so stuffed so soon , The staff where friendly,the restaurant was pretty clean ,the service was pretty poor , I would give this place an average of three out of five stars *** ,it wasn't busy ,only two other tables one of five ans one of two ,plus ours of two ,

Beautiful cozy little restaurant. We tried here due to them offering a Chicago style pizza, never had one before. It was lovely, we got uncle Sam’s burger and chips each and pizza to share. Portions were absolutely huge, we were bursting by the end and had to take the pizza to go 😂 For £55, including drinks, pizza, and 3x burgers and chips, so reasonably priced. Chips are proper home cooked goodness, restaurant was lovely and clean. The staff were all lovely, especially our waitress who was so kind and helpful - checking on us a lot. I’ll definitely be back ones I’ve lost the stone I gain from eating this beast of a meal, thanks Pigalos.

Ordered online, when it came the burger was delicious, really tasty and good quality. The loaded chips were so tasty. I was really impressed, especially with it being a just eat delivery. Can’t wait to try more from the menu and would definitely order again.

Just wanna say good luck to Mia who served us, she mentioned it was her first shift and she was really attentive & made sure we were seen to quickly. The other staff were lovely too but didn't catch names - definitely have a good thing going! Will 100% be back.

Ate in at Pigalo’s tonight and honestly the food was amazing. Best burger I’ve ever had with great quality ingredients. We were told we would have to wait a bit for pizza as ordered a deep pan one so was waiting a while for food but it definitely was worth the wait. What you get for your money is amazing! Would highly recommend and will be returning :)

Placed an order which was accepted; almost 1hr15min later it’s cancelled! Only a text with no reasoning as communication. Can’t get through on the phone and the Facebook account unresponsive. Lost a household of customers for life!

Well… what a find. First time last night and certainly not the last. Firstly, the two guys who run the place, really friendly and both have a passion for what they do. The burgers are by far the best I’ve ever tasted ,unbelievable. The dirty fries are something else and the pizza pie….well the smaller I ordered beat me, but what a taste. Great value for money. Well done guys.

Tried today for the first time after a friend recommended the restaurant to me. Staff were really welcoming and friendly and even told us about an online offer to save us some money. I was especially excited to try the Chicago style stuffed pizza as there are very few places that offer this. The pizza was amazing, one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had! Also ordered mac and cheese, buffalo wings and a chicken burger and everything was delicious and really high quality. Will absolutely come back again.

Stop what you're doing!! Go directly to Pigalos North Shields for THE best deep dish pizza!!! Unreal quality, fantastic taste, toppings, and flavours. I had the 8" Toni Double Pepperoni and I took a slice home in a box. Phenomenal pizzas. The Swiss Toni burgers are incredible as well, fresh smashed burgers, home skin on fries and delightful from start to finish. Absolutely 💯 quality food, deserves all the best reviews. Order take away last night from just eat ordered two 10" pizzas one came was 8" the other was a 12" . No phone call to explain why this was. 12" was burnt. I only ordered as I heard great reviews and was looking forward ro trying something abit different. I will not order again.

Booked a table for 7pm, received a call from them asking to delay until 7:30. Travelled from county Durham for our booking then received a call to say could they move it until 8pm. Travelled 45 mins to get there and had to end up going elsewhere. For starters you rang a little over 20 mins before we were due for the booking, it's not ridiculous that I arrived in North shields at that time before we were due as we were conscious of traffic and didn't want to be running late for the booking time you gave me. When you initially changed the time my wife said on the phone it was fine and didn't express that she was unhappy at all. You were given ample opportunity to speak on the phone and didn't mention anything accomodating at all. I probably would have went for a drink in a local pub however I had my son with me who is a minor so wasn't really an option was it. As for the other review I don't really see how that's relevant to you apart from you try to appear like the victim in this situation. I review things as I find them, as you can see from the entirety of my reviews not just the ones you choose to highlight. I think your reply obviously highlights your approach to customer service ie is severely lacking in it's sincerity and looks to blame others for your shortcomings.

Tried Pigalo’s after seeing a TikTok reviews. To be honest, I expected more. Restaurant ambience was 0, they had put up some pig pictures to try and theme it a little but it lacked any sort of atmosphere. Gas fires were strewn about as it was so cold in there (we kept our coats on). The waitress was flustered (there were two other tables in there). We were immediately told there was a 40 min wait for pizzas - we didn’t get them. Starters were great, frickles tasty, chicken nice crumb and potato nachos were good. Sauces for frickles/chicken etc extra…! Burgers came, I had trashed browns, which were a super wet sludge of sauce and underdone hash browns (mashed up). Burger was fine but the crispy onions provided a really bready, wet texture that was rather unpleasant to eat. We order Mac and cheese (this didn’t arrive) no idea if we were charged for it as the waitress didn’t show us the bill. Other meals we had were chicken burgers, these were massive and I was told they were tasty. All meals came with chips, but we ended up leaving the chips as were quite dry and not crispy. We’d also ran out of sauce and didn’t really want to pay for any more. I love these types of restaurants usually, however I think that Pigalo’s needs to go back to the drawing board. Are they a takeaway or a restaurant, if it’s the latter, put some effort in!

I was really looking forward to our visit as it’s an independent business but on the whole I don’t think it’s somewhere I’d probably visit again in the near future. Unfortunately the restaurant is really cold for some reason. I know it’s cold outside, but a couple of gas fired heaters weren’t really having an impact. Feet were absolutely freezing throughout. This isn’t a great experience. Waitress was lovely, and it looked like she was on her own so did a good job of keeping on top of the diners and the various people coming in and out. Food was a mixed bag. Our party of 6 left most of their chips because they didn’t taste super crispy or fresh. Not awful by any means but think they could probably do with a bit longer in the fryer. The chicken burgers (two people had those) were massive and reminiscent of KFC tower burgers. I think they might be their best item - feel very substantial. Nice quality chicken. The beef burgers weren’t quite as good. Tasted a little on the dry side but the sauce helps to mitigate that. The style of burger is a bit like Five Guys. Chicken strips are really nice. They were piping hot, had a nice seasoning on the outside, and were moist. Would recommend ordering these. Frickles are really nice too, along with the Mac & cheese bites. Getting the food felt a bit slow but it was Friday night so to be expected. It seemed more delivery orders than people in restaurant. Couple of customers got turned away for some reason even though only three tables were taken in the restaurant, so probably wise to book ahead. Overall if you like this type of food, go and give it a try but there are a few things that need some work. I spent just shy of £100 for six people with drinks so I think value for money feels about right.

Delicious Chicago-style pizza pie. I had high expectations and it didn’t disappoint. Great menu selection and really reasonably priced. Lovely, friendly staff too and it’s even dog friendly with the best old school playlist 10/10

Absolutely delicious four of us dined and it was lovely, Adam was great he talked us though any questions we had, I'm not a burger person at all but that was the best burger I've ever had it was like biting through butter. We will definitely be back.
