Lovely selection of beers , welcoming staff and just a nice place to visit. Relaxing comfortable and clean .will visit again when I’m the town centre.

Found this place almost by accident on a trip to Chesterfield. Passed it on the way from the train station to the Town centre. Decided we would pop in and try it. Glad we did. Nice brews and the food looked good too. Maybe next time? Passed it on the way back to the train station and it was packed. Not bad for a Monday night.

Visited with friends for drinks and food, great atmosphere, ranged from loud and boisterous during the football to a pleasant bar murmuring for the remaining time. Beer selection was good, food was of a very good standard and staff friendly and attentive when required.

We popped in here for lunch on a Saturday. It was very busy at 2.30pm and we got the last table. I ordered the chicken club and it came with a whole chicken breast on it! The fries it came with were delicious. My husband had the Elvis burger with chunky chips and said it was excellent. The prices were really good for the quality and quantity. If we are in the area again, we will be back but we'll be sure to book next time!

Thursday evening and really busy but the friendly staff coped very well and our meals were served quickly. The portions were generous and the quality of the food was excellent. Will definitely be back soon.

Chicken caesar salad consisted of chicken croutons and lettuce. The bacon was almost none existent but the chicken was moist and well cooked

Food is exceptional just not into pretentious overpriced beer

All that I will say is that it was a learning curve. I learnt not to go there again.

I visited with friends on a Saturday afternoon. The pub was busy (we got the last table) despite arriving at 2pm but this gave it a nice atmosphere. If you were a group, I got the impression that you ought to book to be sure of a table. The food offering was your traditional pub fare. I had a burger with onion rings and my friend the lamb pie of the day. Food arrived in a reasonable time. Portions were very generous. My burger was nice, onion rings slightly over cooked, chips were delicious and looked hand cut. My friends were very impressed with their pies. The staff were helpful and polite.

I arrived a bit before my friends and secured a table which was good because it was packed out. However before I could finish my drink and my friends could arrive the staff put a reservation card on the table I was sat at which meant I only had 20 minutes to drink up and leave. This would not give my friends enough time to arrive and eat so I had to leave. Very disappointed that I was essentially made to leave. When I arrived and bought a drink and garlic bread the bar staff had difficulty identifying what table I was at and was quite rude in the process. Not sure why they didn't have table numbers like anywhere else or know the layout of the pub.

We went with friends and booked a table as we were going there to eat. The table wasn't even big enough to get two peoples food on it never mind four. However we all had the fajitas and it was very nice.

The meal was very big and the cider was great, a veryvnice place to go and take your dog whilst eating enjoy your food

Food is ok. Menu is quite vague which caused some disappointment; the ‘mushy peas’ with the Fish & Chips turned out to be minted, and the ‘Tennessee Cluck’ burger was grilled chicken (not southern fried as the name might suggest [not sure what the Tennessee element is supposed to be]). The chips are decent. The quiz was painstakingly slow - had only done 15 questions one hour in! Would suggest doing the quiz at The Market pub instead.

Very nice pub with an excellent selection of drinks. Haven't tried the food yet so can't talk about it, but I've heard the grun is pretty good

This place has got it spot on! Food is amazing and great value, so good to see a menu with something different to the boring norm pub menus! Chips are the best I've had in ages and the beer selection is also great! Highly recommend!

The place is nice and clean. I was surprised when I had to pay£6.60 for a small bottle of 0% alcohol beer and a small Coca-Cola. The food though priced reasonable was very poor quality. I wouldn't recommend for a pub meal out.

Came here with a group of friends yesterday and everyone said their food was really good. I had the Christmas burger and the whole meal was absolutely delicious. We had pre-ordered our meals and they came out promptly. The only slight things I would say is, I wish my food was served hotter, as it was just warm when it arrived, and also, they could have done with letting us know straight away that they'd take our drinks order and get our drinks for us, rather than telling us after we'd been to the bar to get our drinks ourselves; so a bit more guidance and instruction when customers arrive would be helpful. Apart from that, it was very good and the staff were polite, helpful and friendly too. The prices were reasonable too.

Went for lunch on Saturday, we hadn't booked so we were lucky to get a table but the staff were lovely and sorted us out. Really enjoyed the food. Had a lovely time!

What a choice of food! So much we chose the sharing burger platters wow enough for two Defo recommend this Burgers, slaw, chips, onion rings for two wow excellent saw someone having faitatas they looked good so will be back to sample more

Stopped for a quick lunch & a drink, we were not disappointed! The food was delicious and the portion was huge. I had a pork cob which came with a slab of stuffing, a pot of apple sauce, a generous portion of home cooked chips and 3 big slices of pork on the cob. My partner had the fish finger ciabatta which was huge. It came with mushy peas and home cooked chips. We both struggled to finish our food. There were plenty of cask ales to choose from and lots of spirits too. It was busy but still plenty of tables to choose from and the atmosphere was good for a Saturday lunch time. We will definitely be visiting again soon.

Lovely place. Thoroughly enjoyed fish and chips. Must be getting old as noise level was very high and then they turned on the background music. Not helpful for a conversation.

Really enjoyed my visit to the pig and pump. Ticked all the boxes for me, great beer, selection of real ales with excellent value food. We ordered the burger sharer, 2 burgers, fries, coleslaw and onion rings £22, this was superb. Service was quick, efficient and friendly.

Great choice of food and good quality. Variety of different beers including non alcoholic choices. Good choice of kids menu, with large portions and great quality. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Would definitely recommend and will return again

Around 28 or 29 choristers including our MD and accompanist came here on the first night of our tour for a couple of pints. As a CAMRA member and a coniseur on Real Ale craft Beers I was so amazed to see such a fine selection of the guest ales that they had on cask. I had Thornbridge Jaipur 6.2% although its an American bar and the weather was very warm and dry I found the Jaipur very refreshing and citrusy perfect beverage to have on a hot Summers day. The other members of the choir thought the overall experience here both food, beverages and service was awesome and second to none. I returned here the following day with two of my fellow choristers. I asked the barman who was serving us, "If it was a CAMRA pub?" In which he replied, "yes but we don't accept the 50p coupons for Real Ales, ciders and perries however if you have your membership card we'll give you 10% off on your drinks." I was so very impressed as a CAMRA member that they'd decreased the price on the beverages I ordered if any of you are members of CAMRA this is the place you'll need to come to very impressive.

I visited the Pig & Pump back in June and had a magnificent experience. Upon arrival the interior was fresh, had a slightly up market feel to it and some nice little bits and pieces dotted about. I proceeded to the bar to get myself a pint (as usual). The selection of craft beers, lagers and ciders were fantastic and fairly priced. I decided I would like to eat as I saw other people's food and it looked really nice. I am a vegetarian and there were plenty of options for me along with meat options and vegan options. I opted for the "FEEL-GOOD" burger which contained Halloumi, Mediterranean Veg which I think had been roasted, Hot Slaw, Pesto, rocket and Chilli Jam. This camee served with a side of chips and Coleslaw. Let's kicked off with the burger.. everything was cooked to absolute perfection, all of the flavours complimented eachother, perfect amount of sauces in there and I didn't need to add any more sauce or take anything out. The chips were up there with the best I've had, beautifully crispy on the outside, soft in the centre and a very generous portion. The coleslaw was a lovely addition, beautifully fresh, well balanced and a nice addition to the meal. I will certainly be back here again when I am in Chesterfield and have already recommended it to others.

Although a great pub it is not as nice as it used to be. Today we went for lunch four of us. Three had the toasted sandwiches which are advertised as being on sourdough bread. They were served on normal white sliced bread toasted, which was ok but it is not sourdough. The coleslaw was also off. The white cabbage in the coleslaw was brown. When raised with the waitress we were told it was made fresh yesterday and when we pointed out the brown cabbage were still told it was fresh. We were then offered fresh coleslaw or a side salad instead but really it is a bit worrying that the person cooking and the waitress both thought the brown looking coleslaw was ok when it clearly was not and had gone off whether made yesterday or not. Overall the food was very average and not the quality it used to be. We also were not told there was no sourdough and no one apologised for the menu change.

food was ok. Have ordered tapas before which was nice but the salmon special pasta didnt taste of alot and was quite fishy. The people i went with enjoyed their meals too. The dessert was lovely and so was service. Nice pub would probably visit again

Firstly, I just want to comment on the positives… an excellent choice of beers and very friendly staff. It was also very quick to get served at a relatively busy time, the pub had a great vibe and seemed a lively, popular place. The food was a bit disappointing to be honest, the burgers were a crumbly mess, the patties were literally falling apart out of the bun - that said the taste was pretty good… the toppings were virtually non-existent I couldn’t taste any blue cheese on mine. The chips however were fantastic, the proper chips. Chips like your Nan used to make you. My kid had chicken goujons and they were very greasy and didn’t want to eat them. I’d like to give it another go due to how good some parts of it were and the other positive reviews.

We stopped here while waiting to collect our son. They stock a wide range of beers and offer a great selection of bar snacks. We opted for a selection of 6 tapas to share between us and added a portion of cajun fries on the side. Every dish was delicious and the portions were much larger than we were expecting (we had to be moved to a larger table!). Will definitely call again if in the neighbourhood.

Popped in three times over a stay in town and each time staff really friendly and food was good.Close to town and tables don't feel cramped together. Particularly liked the cheesecake and lovely biscoff sauce (thank you !) Recommend if you are in Chesterfield.

The fish & chips sounded a good option so t wo of us picked them ;however not a good choice as the fish was fine,the peas too but the chips had been recoooked more than once so we couldn't eat them.We told the mamager the position but he seemed to accept that was ok.Cant recommend this venue.

Wanted somewhere to eat before the theatre and looked on trip advisor for good reviews for somewhere to eat. Every review was good so we gave it a try - all spot on, all the food was lovely and staff too. Very reasonably priced for what we got. Will definitely be back.

Great little place, fabulous cocktails 2 for £12 lovely food. The onion rings NEED to be seen to be believed. Great place for a light bite or a full dinner. Reservations help of an evening so as not to be disappointed

Good value food with generous portions excellent chicken fajitas, Spanish tapas and vegan burger. Only problem was that the shin on fries were very limp and has no "crispness" whatsoever. We arrived around 7pm on Sunday but the kitchen did not close until 8pm. Parking is easy with the council car park right outside.

It's a lovely Victorian Building & very spacious as you can eat outside too.The location is good for the Church & the shops & the staff are very accomodating however we were disappointed with the meal we had as the chips had been cooked more than once & were soggy & in a clump on the plate ,very unappetising.The fish was really tasty & the peas were fine.We will go back again but will choose a meal without chips or fries.
