Pietruccio in South Lanarkshire

Having traveled a lot around Italy this was a real treat to have such beautiful, authentic Italian food in my old home town of Hamilton on a rainy Friday night. We had the 6 course pasta tasting menu which just got better with every course. Presentation and flavours could not be faulted. Extensive well priced wine menu. Would definitely go out of my way to visit again.

Had a fantastic dining experience on Saturday 22nd April. The new sample menu paired with wine was sublime. Couldn't fault the menu, wine or service and would thoroughly recommend a visit.

What a fantastic evening. Food tremendous, service tremendous. What more can you ask for? Always treated like part of the family. Pino is so passionate about his food which shows in both presentation and taste. Can't recommend highly enough.

I went here with a friend for the 5 course wine tasting with lunch and it did not disappoint! The food was perfectly paired with the wine and it was delicious, every course was cooked to perfection and the wine was excellent quality. It was a great way to spend the afternoon, trying some new wines and eating amazing food. The atmosphere was relaxed and the service was great. I have been here before for dinner but the wine tasting was a great day out and with generous top ups of wine and dishes like smoked salmon, rib eye steak, crab and truffle it was excellent value for money. Would definitely recommend .

I hadn't been to the restaurant since pre covid, but the standard was the same both in quality of food and service...both excellent. Only about 20 covers and intimate setting. Well worth a visit .... book in advance

I had heard many positive reviews from friends and colleagues and I was very much looking forward to trying this restaurant. Feel disappointed as service wasn't fantastic, food was good, but not amazing. Disappointing and not keen to repeat. I will not be back.

I was dying to try this authentic Italian restaurant,as I had heard great things. It's very small, maybe 15 seats.ambiance is lovely but a few iny group felt they were being looked down upon. Menu is....limited....and it's not cheap. I thought it was Italian but the menu did not look italian. Portions are TINY. We did think about going for a fish supper when we left but we had a creamy dessert which took the edge off. I will not be returning.

Excellent food and service. We booked a table here for the first time this evening and can say it certainly didn’t disappoint. Initially we were let down by our prebooked local cab and arrived 15 mins late - we phoned to let them know and they couldn’t have been nicer. We went to the pasta night - 5 courses for £25pp superb value for money with authentic Italian cuisine.. we ‘ll certainly be regulars here..

I've left several reviews for Pino and his team. The man has a passion for food, keeping his customers happy, and is simply not just after the money. Quality and happy customers appears to be his main priority. Pasta Thursday was sublime, A1 as usual. Good to see him back open after COVID, it's been too long. Worthy portions, so many flavours, and different ingredients, and huge selections of wine. Attentive service staff as well, friendly and on the ball.

Excellent food, had 7 course taster menu. Very special with great relaxed atmosphere. Pricey compared to other places in area but well worth it. Will be back.

Welcome back Pino , as always loved gourmet menu, food as always is excellent, and with the whole ambiance you provide a dining experience that we have missed so much.

Have been aware of the reputation of this restaurant for a few years but living 25 miles away hadn’t had the opportunity to visit. However last weekend we visited along with my cousin and her husband who are regulars. Firstly, i loved the fact it was a tiny restaurant, only a handful of tables well spaced out. It’s a very intimate and cosy setting and suits the food very well. We all opted for the tasting menu..seven courses. The friendly waitress took our drinks orders, checked out any food intolerances and easily made adjustments to the dishes. Smoked duck as a first course, followed by asparagus in a lemon butter, then scallops (fantastic), next was a superb tortellini, then turbot. Next was wagyu beef, then desert of apple and I think hazelnut ice cream. Every course was simple, unfussy, but perfectly cooked and delicious. Enough time left between each course to let us relax, it was a real experience and a superb way to spend a Saturday evening. The house wine was apparently excellent (I was designated driver). And when the owner came out of the kitchen after service to speak to us, it was great to hear how passionate he was about the food and ingredients. Needless to say we will be back.

Yet again fantastic gourmet menu late lunch, love the restaurant with its ambiance. Always excellent service. The guy who threw toys out pram because his booking was changed doesn't know what he missed. I'd advise he realises these things happen and no doubt was outwith Pino's control and goes and enjoys a fantastic meal.

Great to be back at our favourite Italian in Hamilton. Always a delight to eat here. Food is cooked fresh and served with a smile. Our families met here and even the young ones throughly enjoy the food . Thanks for a brilliant Sunday afternoon

Simply delicious Italian food prepared by an incredibly passionate, talented Italian. Intimate atmosphere, superb wine, fantastic service. Hamilton is a better place because of this fantastic restaurant. When you have experienced it you will understand how special this place is to those who love it. Bravo Pino 👏🏼

Over the years myself & my wife have visited Pietruccios on a number of occasions , we booked by phone and arrived for Lunch around 2pm , we were welcomed by Owner & chef Pinot we had a choice of tables as service had not yet started . The surroundings are very stylish with a modern feel to it . To start we had a Prosecco with peach liquor free gratis and lovely , and so was the bread with olive oil We had the menu and were offered some specials . From the north of Italy we both chose a cabbage soup with ham on the bone ( lovely and this could be a main if wished) My wife had sea bass with potatoes & tomatoes with garlic, I had Ribeye with chilli and a side of fried slice potato with rosemary & garlic (fantastic only way to say it ) Served with water & a outstanding bottle of Aglianico ( deep red fro Campania ) Pinot checked on how you were doing a very refreshing change in the restraint scene I had a small beer & a couple of espressos to complete a lovely meal . Now only opens Fri/Sat/Sun Service throughout was brisk and pleasant , toilets are immaculate. A continued breath of fresh air to the restaurant scene in Lanarkshire Well worth a visit if you enjoy quality and lovely staff and surroundings Sorry I meant to say and this lunch in total was £75.00

Fantastic meal on Sunday evening with friends we all had the tester menu each course was amazing so well presented and full of flavour. The restaurant itself has a lovely ambience and the owner Pino gave us a very warm welcome in a relaxed atmosphere.

Excellent dining was enjoyed by family. The warm welcome of the host and the relaxed atmosphere on entering the restaurant went along way to the thoroughly enjoyment of the meal and afternoon. Another little Italy without the typical Pastas and Pizzas. Well done Pino!

First time here For an anniversary dinner with friends and had an excellent meal. Tried the 7 course taster menu and the food was amazing. Will definitely return. The place is very cosy and the owner took the time to come out to speak to us. Full marks .

We wanted to visit for a long time and finally went for the pretheatre gourmet menu. The Italian principles of only using a few excellent ingredients on a plate has never been clearer to me than here. We loved every plate of food and the staff, the ambience and the knowledge of their frankly prodigious wine list (Appasimento by the glass!).Its rare to find an Italian heritage restaurant as good as this in Scotland. We will be back very soon.

Visited for first time. My son loves this place and had been at us for a long time to go. Wish we had taken his advice earlier. It’s a small friendly restaurant. Made to feel very welcome. Quality of food that we had was excellent and good value. Early bird menu available till 6pm and was really good value. Will definitely go back there again. You need to book as it is very popular and they clearly have their regulars.

We managed to get booked in last minute for Anniversary celebration dinner. What a beautiful place this is. It is small which makes it feel that the attention is on you which is just lovely. The food was delicious, the service was impeccable and we felt that we were absolutely waited on hand and foot. It was a lovely experience and would most definitely return.

Last minute booking for my wife and I. Food served quickly and hot. Portion size was ok and quality of produce very fresh. Menu is limited but tasty. Staff friendly and efficient. A pleasant evening.

Placing us in the window on full view of the bar opposite with smokers outside was just awful. Refused the table but was pointed in the direction of the door. My worst dining experience ever. Other than that the food was pretty good but basic. Could have done it myself at 1/4 of the cost. Won't be returning here.

Pino is a very professional Italian chief. The food was absolutely amazing and 100% Italian.The taste of the red wine (primitivo) was something I've never experienced before. Thanks Pino and Guido for having us today. We will definitely come back soon. Giulio and Marta

We came here and tried the 7 course taster menu, the food was good but didn’t have the wow factor for me, too many of the dishes with similar buttery sauce! However don’t let me put you off, lovely little restaurant, loved the quirky decor and service was great. Definitely would good back.

Our Diner’s Club of 4 couples ate here last night and it was an excellent meal! We all chose the gourmet 7 course taster menu which was truly memorable. Fresh, top quality produce, simply cooked to perfection. Every one of the 7 courses were faultless. Ambience, service & wine were fantastic. One of the best nights in a while and we’ve been dining in amazing places for 4 decades.

Top night experienced. Food was top notch, well presented, fresh and tasty. The king prawns were the size of my palm and cooked to perfection. Wine delicious and chilled to perfection.

I had a meal here with my girlfriend for my birthday and it was outstanding. I wouldn’t be exaggerating it to say that it was some of the best food I’ve ever eaten and the best service we have had from the waiting staff.

We booked a table for five on the pre-theatre menu, and were not disappointed, all of our diners enjoyed the meal enormously, at under £20 for the meal including a lovely glass of apetiser Bellini it was a very nice meal, service was not rushed so relaxing, also they do a gourmet choice on the pre- theatre menu, a must for food lovers.

This is a very realistic Italian restaurant in the heart of Hamilton with a chef owner who visibly loves what he does. Lunch was very reasonably priced and opened with complimentary Bellinis and closed with complimentary Amarettos. Unfortunately lunch is not served every day

I was very lucky to be treated to a meal here by a good friend. We had the Gourmet tasting menu which was fantastic. The scallops were a particular highlight. The waiting staff were really lovely - friendly and attentive. My friend suggested the wine as she had eaten here many times and it beautifully complemented the whole meal. The restaurant is really small and doesn't look much from the outside however it is well worth a visit for excellent food and service.

My friends organised my birthday party here, and the food was amazing, we had a gourmet evening and we all totally loved it

Been here before at weekend but as I work Thursdays never managed to get to the themed evenings but as I was on holiday this was the perfect opportunity . It was also my sons birthday so 4 of us went along . It was a Jamaican night at 16.95 for your 3 courses . This could be a cheap night if you didn’t drink much ( not us ) . Our wine and cocktails were double the food bill ( we were celebrating ) ! . The service as always is top notch and the ambience here is so chilled you think you are in your own living room. We didn’t actually ask what dishes we were getting so opted to be surprised and they were all faultless . Still not too sure what each dish was called.however there was a prawn salad starter, a chicken main and a fruit dessert all delicious . If you get a chance pop along here on a Thursday you will love it

Not been for a long time. I wonder why? The food was fabulous, the service was excellent yet discreet only for our visit to be ruined by a loud foul mouthed ignorant quartet at the table next to us. Before they arrived the restaurant was busy but had a lovely atmosphere. The lovely waitress apologised to us on the way out saying they don’t usually get a table like that. One of the comments made to Nicole was downright crude and very offensive. She laughed it off very professionally. Well done Nicole.

Been eating here for a long time. Can't believe how much the prices have increased. Wine undrinkable, but when we asked for a replacement, were told we'd need to pay for them both. When we tried to feedback, were spoken to in a demeaning manner. Very disappointing Pino.

Got there late on a Saturday with my son. But the staff were all outstanding and made us feel welcome. Food, although not cheap, was excellent and they clearly use good ingredients. Nice atmosphere. Would recommend.

Hadn’t been for a while but had a great experience dining here previously. Once again the food was exceptional in every course, the king prawns, fillet steak, scallops, desserts were all excellent. We waited a while on getting a initial drinks order, had to shout over a waitress every time we wanted drinks and the cocktails or any drinks that weren’t wine weren’t great. Pino is a fantastic chef and the restaurant has a fantastic ambiance so we’ll be back soon.

I’ve been coming here for 16 years and the standard of food has always been absolutely fantastic. The taster menu (7 courses) is a brilliant way to sample the menu and you won’t be disappointed. Great value for money, if you’re in Hamilton there is no better restaurant.

Supposedly fillet of Angus beef - to be fair I did request it well done but the meat was very stringy and in no way resembled any fillet previously served anywhere. All food from shares scallop starter ( £11) for 3 scallops to the mains were far too highly salted - really disappointing as nice ambience in restaurant but just remember 25 mins takes you into Glasgow for quality alternatives guys

Always made very welcome. Small, intimate ilalian gem. Basic freshly made ilalian food with unbelievable taste. Not typical Italian menu like pastas and pizzas. Something really different. We always have the 7 course sharing menu, which gives you a small sample of the menu that day. The lamb and the hazelnut ice cream in particular are our favorites. It will take you about 3 hours to get through the taster menu so not a place to go for a quick bite. Really nice to know you have your table for the night and can relax and enjoy your dinner. Staff can't do enough for you.

Booked a table for dinner and a long overdue catch up with a former work colleague and friend who had never been before. I've always spoken highly of Pietruccio's so expectations were high. We both had the gourmet menu and a suitable recommendation for a glass of wine to accompany.

Yo oí preguntar. . . 1- la decoración del restaurante es acogedor e íntimo. 2 - El personal es acogedor, amable y profesional, el pino 3 propietario y chef, lleva tiempo para conversar con sus clientes. 4 - La comida es exquisita, productos y recién cocinado. 5 - Los precios son muy asequibles, especialmente si vas a almorzar o teatro. Restaurantes por precios de rango medio. 6 - no te sientes apresurado o tienen que dejar su mesa en un momento específico. En mi última visita de almuerzo con mi hija y nieta en la ley de 4 años el chef estaba dispuesto a preparar una comida adecuada para Amelie y felizmente ella escondido para espaguetis con gambas y salsa de tomate. No puedo esperar para mi próxima visita.

No hay mucho que ver desde fuera, pero no te desanimes. Agradable decoración interior, bastante pequeño restaurante con un ambiente agradable. Menú pequeñita pero excelente selección de platos. Buena carta de vinos con una gran selección de vinos y variedad de precios. Comimos el menú degustación gourmet de 7 platos que por 35 libras era una excelente relación calidad-precio. La comida estaba muy bien presentado y tenía excelentes sabores. El servicio era perfecto - eficiente y amable. No dudaría en recomendar este restaurante.

Well Pietuccio was once again wonderful, my wife and I went out for last minute meal and both had the amazing Gourmet menu, our first course smoked duck salad, second was asparagus parmigiano, both were so full of flavour with amazing textures and cooked to perfection followed by scallops & mushrooms then pasta with ham and truffle oh my, our tastes buds were tingling then off we go onto a prawn and courgette followed by fillets of beef to blow our minds. The seventh course to round it all off was a trio of deserts and all for £35 each. Lovely little friendly restaurant with great service and all cooked by one amazing chef with the kitchen door open to let us watch and be amazed. Love this place.

While on a weekend visiting family in the area, we heard of this place, and on a freezing winter Saturday night called in, not very hopeful of getting a table. As it happened a table for two was available as there was a "no show" (thank you whoever you are!)From the warm welcome with a Bellini to the final complimentary drink offered the whole experience was delightful, hence my title.The menu is small, just one A4 page, but I could literally have eaten anyone of the dishes on offer. Everything is fresh and freshly cooked - we had scallops, sea bass and the dessert trio - and all delicious.There is a gourmet menu on offer but we were a little late to order. Many couples seemed to be having this and I would love to make a reservation and have it next time.This is a small restaurant, extremely cosy and welcoming. The staff are lovely and I honestly can't find fault. (This is the same reviewer who labelled the area "gastronomic wasteland!)

What a meal every thing was perfect put some of these Michelin guys to shame as he says he is not a chef just someone who loves cooking I had that taster menus we have smoked duck tortellini with black truffle asparagus with parma sauce scallops with mushrooms never tasted mushrooms like this before amazing sea bass fillet steak and a trio of sweets will. Definitely return thank you also to the staff who were excellent X

Some of the best Italian food I have ever eaten! Ambience - tick, friendly and inviting - tick, food delizioso! I had scallops, tortellini with truffle followed by Zabaione all amazing. The Zabaione wasn't even on the menu, I just asked if I could have it and it appeared after a very short wait, freshly made. Excellent wines and complimentary Bellini/amaretto on ice. Pino welcomes you and his staff are so friendly and helpful, I'll definitely be back.

Can't fault the food - spot on, especially the steak. Great intimate venue, magic wine selection and super service. Go there - reminds me of Rome restaurants.

The food here is exceptional and cooked by someone who cares. Streets ahead of any other Italian in town. Bursting with flavour and innovation. You will not get ant of these dishes elsewhere.

We've passed this restaurant many time but finally ventured in on Sunday night. It's a cosy little gem with a phenomenal wine list and fabulous food. I've spent the summer raving about my Nova Scotian scallops but I had the most delicious starter of Scallops and porcini mushrooms I've ever eaten. All the rest was delicious too. Delightful service from our waitress just made it a really lovely evening.

Been to some of the best in Europe recently including Noma, El Cellar de con Roca, L'Abeille in Paris and L'Enclume in England. However, one of the most memorable degustion meals (at 1/3 the price) was in Hamilton, a suburb of Glasgow (known for disappointing food) at Pietruccio's, small, intimate and delicious with a great wine list and host chef. I look forward to returning.

We've now been 3 or 4 time and it's been great every time. A perfect restaurant for a quiet meal with your partner. Food was excellent and the wine list along with spirit options were impressive. I'd say the best restaurant around In motherwell and Hamilton for a nice romantic meal.

This is one of my favourite restaurants to go to for dinner. Pino is always so welcoming. The menu has so much thought put into it and I am always delighted with my choice. I can highly recommend this restaurant

We attended a family wedding for which Pino (owner and manager and chef) had laid on an Italian wedding feast style meal. The food was truly amazing. Very fresh, superbly prepared and all served with a smile. The staff were terrific and really joined in the celebrations. And then there is the wine. An excellent range of wines and something for all tastes and price ranges. All in all an excellent day and I would thoroughly recommend a trip to this small and very beautiful Italian dinning experience.

Perfectly executed from start to end. Friendly down to earth service. We opted for the gourmet menu, so a 7 course tasting menu. Simple ingredients beautiful looking and tasting! They were also able to accommodate a vegan option. A wee gem in the Lanarkshire area!

We visited for lunch last week. The meal was excellent and very simply done. The owner was very good at describing how the food was made. We had three courses for £14.95 and each one was delicious. Will definitely return.

Small restaurant with excellent food. Will definitely return. If you prefer loads of of chips with your meals this is probably not the place for you. Not large portions but the food is well prepared, served with a smile, and very tasty. Served a plate of fresh crusty bread with oil and balsamic dip for appetiser. Starter of bruchetta was well filled with overflowing tomato topping. Main course, although not a big portion was tasty. Adequate choice on menu with most Italian favourites. Sweets are available but I normally miss those out. Coffee to finish. Altogether very good and worth another visit.

Well folks discovered this wee gem of a place today. Lovely italian food at very reasonable prices. Tried the lunch time 7 course special...seven little tapas meals which included desert.. honestly the best meal ive had in ages..Thank you elizabeth for treating us today , we realky enjoyed ourselves. We have been wanting to eat here for some time and finally went last night for my husband's birthday with our close friends. We chose the tasting menu and were not disappointed. The food was exceptional and good value for money and the atmosphere in this gorgeous little restaurant was relaxed and chilled. We are so lucky to have a gem like this in Hamilton. This place is very understated from the outside, but please don't let that put you off. Enter this gem of s restaurant for a truly chilled out pleasant environment with excellent service. The food is made simply but with passion the ingredients are seasonal and fresh and the results are simply superb. Pino is a master of his art, and a very pleasant personality. He takes time to speak to customers during your visit and helps make it feel specialIf you have not experienced this place, Don't delay you won't be disappointed

Went for lunch in a party of four one of us had several food intolerant issues which were quickly addressed as everything is made when you order and easy to change. Also great and friendly Service, a must for us to return.

We were greeted with complementary cocktails upon our arrival. I ordered the scallops and my friend ordered the beef carpaccio. Both were simply delicious. There was an amazing collection of wine on offer. For our main, I ordered the monkfish - one of my favourites - and I can honestly say I've never had it anywhere better than here, my friend on the other hand had ribeye perfectly done to her taste. Overall an amazing night finished off with two chocolate tarts with home made ice cream. The staff and owner/chef was welcoming from the start and throughout our night they were friendly and devoted to making our night one to remember. Will definitely be back!

Brilliant welcome from Pino ( owner ) Spent 5-10 minutes just having a chat I accept it was quiet but made us feel very welcome. At 14.95 for 3 courses I feel it was good value. Food quite simply done but taste was first class and portion size entirely reasonable. Choice of 4 items for starter and main and 3 for dessert I honestly could have eaten any of the choices. No wine ordered since it was lunch time but 2 Moretti beers were just perfect. Macchiato coffee to finish were lovely. We also had a great chat after the meal discussing different coffees -- always good to learn something new.All in all a smashing lunch for people who appreciate good food.I have read other reviews about the owner being unpleasant at times. Don't believe it -- he has the perfect temperament to run this type of business.

Pino (the chef/owner) and his staff provide an outstanding experience, warm, friendly and enthusiastic service, a superb wine list, mostly Italian ranging from well known favourites to hidden gems and brilliant food, unpretentious and fantastically executed.Eating at Pino's is a proper evening out, you will not be rushed out in 90 minutes !The "Gourmet" tasting/degustation menu is outstanding at £33 but a la carte is equally tasty and value for money.Really can't recommend it highly enough, it works just as well for a wee treat or full blown celebration, it's the type of place that if you found it on holiday you'd visit 5+ times in a fortnight !

We were late for an 8.45pm booking - an hour actually but were treated like royalty! The food is superb, a fab selection of freshly prepared food. The owner/chef Pino, and his staff, hope that is spelt correctly were lovely and spent a lot of time with us. We never felt rushed and had a lovely get together.A hidden treasure wholly deserving of this review

Although we have been before , we are always pleasantly surprised with welcome the food & the pleasant surroundings We decided on visit & booked a table , with a pleasant Italian voice Telling me they were now open all day on a Saturday Arrived at 3pm & we're given a choice of tables, the arrangements had been changed since our last visit a few years ago, cushions & surround by lovely Italian wines We ordered drinks , house red ...which was a mix of montepulciano & one other wine ,lovely & well worth £17.95 & a jug of tap waterThe food is Italian & northern So starters were / asparagus with butter & herbs & parmigiano Leg of lamb with rosemary potatoes(the best I've tasted for a long time )pasta bolognese , again top quality We shared a sweet , custard & pistachio cones 2 coffees , with a small peroni thrown in Total £ 55.85 Great value The owner & chef came to nearly everyone in the restauranteWith pleasant chat & looking for feedback Tucked away , close to the police station Well worth a visit , we will be back

Not the cheapest of places for a lunch but some nice food and a bit of a different variety than a lot of the other lunch places.

Had heard good reports about this restaurant so decided to treat another couple. So, table for four, midweek for dinner in December was relatively easy to book. We all decided to have the gourmet menu. With wine and water, our bill was just over £200.This was well worth the money!! Gourmet it definitely was. The atmosphere was very welcoming and pleasant. It was great to have dinner in a small restaurant and feel valued and still have privacy. The time between courses was perfect. We have tried to book a table for a Saturday night without fail as they are normally fully booked unless you want to eat at 5pm.I think you must have to book a Saturday night well in advance. This is a great place to eat for ambience, food and service.Cant wait to get back!

After dining in this little Italian 'home from home' I felt the need to make other people aware of my experience. From the moment you enter this cosy little restaurant you feel instantly welcomed by the friendly staff. After choosing from a vast selection of fine wine we started our dining experience. The word 'outstanding' comes to mind. This is not your typical Italian restaurant you find in Hamilton, this hidden gem is like being in Italy without the weather. The atmosphere was wonderful with a great choice in background music. All in all. I have not one bad word to say, only lots of wonderful ones! This is Lanarkshire's best kept little secret! And I will most definitely be returning soon! Thanks to all who made our night so fantastic!
