My wife, and I had fish dinners and the cod was so flaky and delicious.

Walked past on a busy Friday evening. Typical of a fish and chip shop to be at its peak during a Friday so we weren't too surprised. We placed an order of one piece of cod, regular chips and onion rings. We waited over 30mins for our food to be ready. Shocking! The delivery drivers on scooters seemed to be top priority which is a real shame. I feel like they need to have a separate window for delivery drivers in order to maintain some sort of balance. It's a very small ordering area and it feels quite claustrophobic when waiting for your order. The food was average. Chips were fine, fish was fresh however very oily. The onion rings were the real winner! Full of flavour, however also quite oily. A real shame that this is the only fish and chip shop in Richmond.

This is by far the best place to have fish and chips in West London! Portions are great, the chips are amazing and great value for money. Will be coming here again.

Restaurant specialized in Fish and Chips and very good. It is well worth the visit to the restaurant and the neighborhood in general.

The fish and chips are truly fantastic, the starters and desserts really dissapointing and overpriced.

Just ordered haddock and chips and was told there would be a 10 minutes wait. As I was standing outside I saw people order and take their food and clearly from the discussion inside my order was given to someone else. I went in for an update after the 10 minutes and was told another 4 or 5 minutes and sorry about that. In total I was waiting 23 minutes for my food and offered nothing for the delay. This is really unfair, I understand mistakes happen but at least offer something to make up for it the guy in charge conveniently disappeared when it was time to collect my order.

It is crowded on weekends but quiet during the week, so I recommend making a reservation on weekends. The restaurant closes at 22:00 but I was surprised that they already finished serving all the starters even though I went at 20:30. Their drinks were limited because their machines were broken. I ordered the mixed fish plate, it was good but not perfect, but I was not happy with the service. Even though there were 3 tables including mine, I could not find anyone to order dessert or ask for the bill. The waiters were too busy looking behind the wall. I was not very satisfied. Even though I don't eat anything fried, I said I had to try it The fish I had grilled was delicious and clearly fresh Calamari fried in oil, I couldn't finish it because I'm not used to eating it, of course. The salmon is delicious Sitting on the street is nice and far from the smell of frying

Takeaway review. Could not believe the slow service from here. We did arrive at 7pm when they were busy, but we were told 10-15minutes for one fish & chips and battered sausage. We could see the food in the counter window. We were made to wait outside for 40 minutes before getting our order. And you pay before otherwise we would have walked away. It was further let down by the lack of communication or courtesy of an update from the staff. There was at least 6 of us that went through the same thing. All exasperated and fed up by the time we got the food. Only suggestion that if you have no choice order online so you can wait from the comfort of your home. Assume the wait times in the restaurant are the same or longer.

Looking a bit unloved these days. Black greasy coating all over the floor. Most of the lights need bulbs replacing. Basement toilets wet floor and missing tiles. Staff looked very fed up. Air con not working on a warm muggy day. Windows not been cleaned in a while. Fish and chips for takeaway still good, fresh cooked to order and a decent portion.

The food was great - battered fish, grilled fish and scampi, with chips - however the guy serving the takeaways was brusque and unpleasant.

The food was great, but the service was one big minus. There weren't many people and we waited 25 minutes for a waiter. Tips are included in the price, which is unfair, because they didn't deserve anything for the service I had today.

If you come with small kids most certainly you'll get turned away from dining in so avoid the embarrassment. The takeaway menu is different to dining in. Fish would've been good however the experience didn't make up for it and has left a bitter taste!

What a find!!! This place serves fantastic seafood and fish dishes. The quality is outstanding and the staff and service is 10 ou of 10. I enjoyed the Skate and new potatoes. It was delicious and fab potion size. I highly recommend and would most definitely return.

A lovely dinner of calamari to start, followed by cod, chips and peas. The food was fresh and delicious, fish crisply fried in a light batter and chips absolutely perfect. Always a good bet.

My recent experience at the restaurant was incredibly disappointing. Despite being a regular customer who had always been satisfied with the service in the past, my visit today was marred by the unprofessionalism and rudeness of the waitstaff, specifically Skylate and Brook. From the moment we entered the restaurant, it was evident that Skylate and Brook had no interest in providing us with even basic service. Despite our attempts to flag them down for assistance, they seemed disinterested and indifferent to our needs. I had to repeatedly approach the kitchen myself to request essentials like tap water and straws. Even more concerning was their lack of attention to hygiene and safety. There was a broken dish under our table which posed a hazard, yet they failed to notice it until I brought it to their attention. Furthermore, they neglected to clean our table after we finished our meal. Their refusal to honor a part of the kids menu deal, specifically the ice cream, was the final straw. When I politely requested to speak with the manager to address these issues, they claimed the manager was unavailable and offered feeble excuses for their subpar service. It's evident that Skylate and Brook were not only unprofessional but also dismissive of their responsibilities. Their attitude towards their job and customers was appalling, and their lack of accountability was disappointing.

Pier1 Fish and Grill is one of my favourite restaurants. There is always a nice welcome when you enter the restaurant and the service is good. The food is excellent, what ever you order.

Had a lovely dinner at Pier 1 on the day we reached London. Not busy due to bad weather but that's probably why service was a bit too slow. Kid friendly, for sure, but the colouring pencils could be sharpened

This was a good place to eat in Richmond. Got the fried fish and chips and the portion was massive! As an American I was shocked haha food 4/5 for just being bland and could’ve shared a plate with my wife. Crab caks was 10/10 and pudding was 10/10!!

Great food and great staff, and definitely my favourite fish and chips in london You should definitely try the tempura king prawns if you ever visit and i hope you have Brook serving you - she is always amazing and makes the whole experience next level, i dont get service like this at Michelin star resturants. Just try fish and chips at Pier 1 when you are in Richmond! Fresh ingredients, huge cod/ haddock size and perfect frying of the fish make it a sure choice. Plus, the service is very nice.

I am happy to have my dinner at Pier1 Fish Restaurant that I like their grilled cod menu which is delicious and different I do not find at any other fish serving restaurant in our region I do recommend to eat grilled cod meal which is wonderful really. Thank for serving grilled cod and chips...

Best Fish and Chips ever! Over the years I’ve eaten at literally dozens and dozens of F&C restaurants/shops, take out or eat in and none of them have quite equalled Pier 1. There was only one which was as good but sadly the place changed owners and the standard went down. 10/10 for food, the restaurant itself 6/10.

Amazing place that myself and my companion just happened upon. I thought, that because it was in Richmond it would be expensive and have small portions, but I was wrong. Huge fish with loads of chips and one of the best mugs of tea I've had out and all go a reasonable price. Definitely worth a visit and I'll definitely be going back.

Food fantastic, cod and chips, light and crispy batter, big flakes of cod when cut or put fork into fish, chips and crispy outside soft inside, neither were greasy at all, would happily go back. Decor is tidy, and everything OK, nothing to wow, but still nice, stopped by chance when passing and glad we did. Well done to staff, all polite, and looked happy to serve people.

Worth the experience and classy in treatment

It was nice enough but that was it. I have had better juicier scampi and wasn't keen on the batter. It was all just nice, nothing special.

I was on the hunt for fish & chips while I was out exploring Kew Gardens & Richmond when Pier 1 popped up. The piece of fish was so big and had the perfect amount of crisp on the outside - nice amount of chips too. Would definitely recommend if you have a craving for fish & chips!

Absolutely amazing place to eat! The food is amazing, the place is clean, the staff are very accommodating. BROOKE is a superstar and such a lovely server, very attentive and makes us smile. Anyone who has anything negative to say about this restaurant is absolutely delusional and anyone will have a nice time eating here. Will defo come back and bring the gang. Ratings

My partner and I attended 16/07/2023 we didn’t realise how many flies were above our heads in the restaurant, they were on the ceiling inside the globe lights just above our heads. They were flying around us and even went into our food. We did speak to the lady serving us and she replied there was nothing they could do I did ask them to close the huge windows which they did sometime later as the restaurant was closing. We explained to the server we left some of the food due to a flies landing in our food, we were then spoken to another staff member with the bill who was extremely rude, her name is Jasmine and her mannerism towards us was absolutely unacceptable telling we should have known before we ordered the food their were flies, we only came to realise the restaurant was covered with flies after our food arrived. In order to try resolve the issue we asked the server to turn the light off, this still did not make a difference. We again stressed the issues of how many flies there are in the restaurant. The lady who was rude and abrupt with us continued to say we should have ate somewhere else if this is what Peir 1 refers to as good customer service from staff I am appalled. We settled the bill in full and told the staff to keep the change, good service would have been removing the items left on the table with flies on them to be minus from the bill instead we were told we should have gone somewhere else. I have never received such poor service at a restaurant and would not recommend anyone to eat at this restaurant, there are many good restaurants in Richmond with good customer service. The photos attached are the lights in the restaurant and those marks on the globe lights are files these are just two light but every globe lights plus ceiling lights were covered in flies. Not very hygienic as my partner was unwell this morning suffered from good poisoning.

Place not very cozy the staff is nice but pity a little in the hygiene . Good place where you can eat very good fish and chips especially grilled fish .

When I came before, I always remembered the taste, it always remained in my mind as a very special place. But the last time I came, it didn't feel like such a special place!!! But as always, the service and quality were very good, the friend at the service was very understanding, there was a mistake in the main menu I ordered, he immediately took it away and brought a new one.

Usually fine, but last time I was there for holiday I found two hairs in my fish and chips. I was disgusted. It's not hygienic there. Safer to go elsewhere as I'm put off forever to go there.

Best fish and chips in west London!

We've been regulars over the last couple of years. Great, relaxed place for either eating in or to take away and consume on the riverside. The fish is fresh and cooked very well, portions are gigantic, the last couple of times we had to ask for a "doggie bag" 😀. We would particularly recommend cod and plaice (we had it cooked in batter but the grilled version at the nearby table also looked great) and fried squid rings with sweet chilli sauce. What lets it down at times is the service (blonde pig-tailed waitress in particular). Overall, though, a very pleasant experience.

By far one of the best fish 'n' chips I've ever had 🤤 We ordered whitebait, tempura prawns and squid and haddock n chips and all were yum and fresh. The haddock flaky, just as it's meant to be. Great food and ambience. Easily the best in the Richmond area!!
