The White Swan in Richmond upon Thames

How can you not love a pub that is daily threatened by flooding from the Thames and has a dog regular under the bar to greet you?

Very poor customer experience I shall not return

An excellent Sunday lunch at The White Swan. Not that many tables, so we'd reserved for 3x in advance, but just a few days before. The weekend before Christnas, so we were pleased to be fitted in. A lovely table right by the bar, immediately friendly service, a drink for me, whilst waiting for the rest of the party. The Sunday roasts were excellent, great pudding as well. Highly recommended ...

October 27th..👍👍 I can't comment on the food as I/we didn't eat with you. My rowing club, affiliated with Chichester Yacht Club participated in the ' round the island ' race as guests of Mathew ( Bell Founder), with the race organised by the very friendly Richmond Boat Club 👍👍. All in all an excellent afternoon that was complimented by wall to wall🌞 & warm & friendly service from the pub's staff team. Having all eyed your pub from afar ( the end of the Great River Race), we were all pleased to have eventually visited you 😊😊👍... until next time..🤩

A beautiful area by the river to enjoy hearty pub food served by smiling staff. Full of locals having a good time. A must on a sunny day, and a cozy retreat from a rainy one.

One of the most beautiful spots in Twickenham, we had a fantastic lunch (highly recommend the fish and chips) and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. The burger was okay but I’d recommend other options first.

White Swan… Avoid!!! Apart from below standard food, you have unbelievably rude service, especially from the manager Elaine… she’s obviously chosen the wrong vocation and would be better suited as a prison warden!

When seated cant really see the river whuch us a bit of a shame. Decent beer selection Poor food. Burger was cheap fodder, chips aweful. Disappointing.

Spending time here is what heaven must be like. Great service, decent food (for the UK), glorious location, and the nicest people you will meet and interact with. This is one of the best environments I have ever experienced.

Of all the pubs all over the world I've been into, this one is easily the best. The setting, the vibe, the staff. Everything is stunning. Winter or summer. Just mind yourself with the tide.

Love being down on the terrace by the river. Beautiful location for a summer evening meal. Scampi was delicious and the burger was great too.

Had lunch here. Lovely place on the river. Service was ok but the food was so disappointing. Fish and chips and Scampi and chips. The chips were not good at all, never really had chips like it, and the fish was mainly all batter and hardly any fish. Shame as nice setting.

Good spot for a quick beer. Probably a good seat during high tide to watch the water come in down the road.

Hi! We booked our table 2 weeks in advance before that day and they offered the worst table but one in the balcony or the terraza. We asked for a better one and they offered one even more dark and quiet, far from the vistas. Food is mediocre… and scant portions. We ordered one of the main, quinoa + halloumi (17£), and literally were 2 tiny pieces of cheese and a handful quinoa seeds. The location of the venue were the best thing of our visit.

Still one of West London's best Riverside pubs. Refreshingly un-refurbished and a great place to enjoy a summer evening.

I visited last weekend to be served by a clearly intoxicated staff member, i asked to be served by somebody else as she was slurring her words and was all over the place, to which she replied that was the manager. I was given a recommendation to come and visit this pub, and it was lovely, the food was good, but the service was poor and my interaction with the drunk Scottish manager really ruined my evening.

DJ and Kira were absolutely lovely - new girl on the bar was also very kind and managed well! Food absolutely gorgeous and banging playlist xx

Fantastic little riverside pub. 4 of us visited on a match day after it was recommended by a local couple who we met the day before. It was nice to find a pub that was quieter and had seats available! We ordered from the menu (good selection) and really enjoyed our food. We'll definitely be returning on our next visit to Twickenham.

Great beer in walking distance of Twickers

Weird experience with manager. Went there with my colleagues after work. Friend brought her child in early evening and I ended up bringing my dog too. All before 6:30 pm. We had less than a 1.5 bottle of wine between us (just to show the level of ‘energy’ we may have had.) My friend cracked a joke and admittedly we laughed loudly. Immediately the manager came over to tell us to be quiet. We were shocked and said okay. Afterwards I went over to say that was a bit of a strange reaction to have. She said she had a small pub filled with a lot of people eating. We were also eating. Honestly the strangest interaction I’ve had with a pub manager. We had one moment of ‘shrieking’ (her words) on an early Friday eve with our dog and baby in tow. So tame. She asked me did I want an apology. Thankfully I kept my cool and said we can agree to disagree. Sad because I’ve loved this pub since moving here.

Boasting an enviable view this Grade II Listed building features a small terrace balcony and a “beer garden” lapping the Thames. The building, ambience and location here are memorable. Regarded consistently as one of London’s finest pubs and it would be foolhardy and churlish to challenge this universal sentiment. Essential London.

Great pub, always a good atmosphere, lovely staff led by Morag. Especially good when the sun is out and people spill into the road and the 'beach'. Good for pre-rugby. Bad for bringing children, unless in the garden (it's not big enough!).

We had a lovely sunday lunch here today. Service and atmosphere spot on, traditional river side pub. Very accommodating for our Sprocker Spaniel. Roaring fire. Nice naked lady ale.

One of the best pubs i've ever been in, beautiful location

Snug inside with festive cocktails and treats. Biard games available too. Note this is worth a visit as a Tidal pub! Thames rises up to almost the door, to our delight! The outer 'platform', becomes an island during this time. We really enjoyed being educated to the tidal movements.

Nice atmosphere but the food was sloppy and out within 5mins. Greasy and sloppy are the only words. I wouldn't eat here again...

It was my Birthday and following a recommendation from a family member we visited The White Swan in Twickenham. It indeed has an idyllic setting by the river and we sat outside to enjoy the good weather and pleasant view. We ordered at the bar and the food came very quickly. We both had the same Scampi and Chips, and my first impression was that of disappointment, the plate of food didn’t look that wonderful and it was not very hot. Unfortunately also some of the Scampi was not cooked through properly. After discussion with the Waitress, who was very helpful, she offered us another bowl of Scampi. This was piping hot and an improvement. Sadly I didn’t enjoy my meal and won’t be returning to The White Swan. Yes a lovely setting and the waitress was efficient and friendly, but the pub on this occasion was let down by the poor quality of the food. However I did enjoy the wine. 😊

I did book late in the day for the same evening. Ate at 6.45pm. Asked to sit in the eating area (Not bar) but told those tables were reserved. Ordered 1 fish n chips, and 1 scampi n chips. Came quickly. But SO disappointing. 😔 The menu states that they use Home Cut Chips. And we were served Frech fries🍟, that were overcooked and hard. Left most of them. I was with a guest from overseas, so I was too embarrassed to complain at the time. Also, dogs were allowed in the bar, and customers were vaping inside. Do not recommend.

A well known pub at Thames in Twickenham. Always busy. They also serve grill and have heated outdoor seating. A popular place. There are also events in summer. If you are down in Twickenham a place to visit for a bite or refreshment.

Fabulous pub on the river in Twickenham- but you could easily think you're in the country. Off the beaten track with great beer. I didn't eat there but the food looked great.

A lovely place to have a beer, tucked away down a narrow lane by the Thames. Excellent real ales. Can't judge the food as we didn't eat when we visited, but everything is very organised so I doubt you would be disappointed.

Unfortunately their food made me sick 🤢 I had the haddock with chips and peas and it was so oily. Maybe even some dodgy used and reused oil? Unsure. But I did not feel better until the food was out of my system.

My group and I were quite disappointed with the White Swan Twickenham. Talking about the service first, when we were seated inside, we had the displeasure of having a very pushy waitress. We had barely seated and she came over asking if we want drinks, I explained we were still waiting for other 2 people and would wait for them. She appeared unhappy with this. She still came over several times to our table while we were still looking at the menu. We also felt her manners left a lot to be desired. As we didn't want to spend our money and time putting up with her rudeness, we decided to seat outside. The various waiters and waitresses waiting outside were a lot better and did their jobs well, specially Emma. The noise both inside and outside war unbearable. The White Swan is a small pub with tables very close to one another. There were various tables with several dogs, one of which had three dogs with them. Some dogs were poorly trained and barked a lot. The same outside, with several dogs barking in uncomfortable distance from us. Scratching themselves, which made fur flies everywhere in a windy day. Probably getting in people's food also. Our group felt that was a massive health and safety breach and very poor hygiene from the pub management. We've seen dogs in pubs often and don't mind but have never seen such a high number of dogs in such a confined space before barking and being a nuisance to other paying customers. In regards to the food, the food was good. However, the price of the starter chicken wings were frankly absurd! 4 chicken wings for...9 pounds. 4!!! 2 pounds and 25 pence per wing! Absolute rip off! I had my son visiting the UK from Rio de Janeiro and he was gobsmacked by the paltry portion of wings for almost a tenner. Overall, the White Swan has nothing to shout out about and must look into their ridiculously small portions and the hygienic issue of having too many dogs at once being and making other people's eating experience an unpleasant one.

Fantastic terrace overlooking the river!

The highlight of this place is the deck over the Thames river.

Amazing location, great selection of beer to name a few asahi, neckoil (beaver town) and som local brewery’s. Main bar is up a large flight of steps as the water does rise quite high this is the same for the loo’s. But the outside area is accessible and servers are available for table service so all good.

Great venue and, if you sit outside, great views of the Thames. Ordered a selection of starters to share and whilst the staff couldn’t have been more helpful, the food arrived too quickly to have been cooked from fresh. Having said that, the hummus and mustard/honey sausages were delicious whilst the chicken wings were too messy without something too wipe your fingers with.

Booked for dinner with friends. Limited menu but decent food. We had a table inside and the staff are really efficient and friendly. I recommend the fish and chips and Moroccan chicken. Toilets are in the basement. Good wine selection too. The pub is located right on the river and we had a lovely view. They have an outside terrace 1st floor and a riverside garden. It was really busy on a sunny Saturday so I would recommend booking.

One of our favourite spots in Twickenham gets quite busy but perfect for a sunny summers day as the tide raises and falls around you (and the tide can come up to where your feet are on the deck). They have a love beer and wine selection with amazing Fish and Chips

Pimm's and lemonade was a very refreshing drink after a long walk on a hot day. Fish and chips's pea mash was tasty 👍

Great lunch at the White Swan. Sausages in honey and mustard, Scampi and wings - with drinks. All at £30 per head, but had to wait 20 minutes to order as high tide marooned us in the garden. Excellent service and a great experience.

Visiting Twickenham for the first time since lockdown this pub was the top choice on our short itinerary. We arrived just as the high tide receded from the terrace over the river and found our favourite ale on tap. Perfect.
