Various things I saw on-line suggested that The York in Easingwold was currently closed, so it was a pleasant surprise to find it open and has been taken over by new people. The interior of the pub has a modern design and is smart and clean. More to the point, on the hottest day ever recorded in the UK, a good pint of ice cold, vibrant lager was an essential requirement, and the pints of Pravha we were served were top class. Service was very professional with both barmen attired in continental style aprons, and it was also welcoming and friendly.

After a long drive, we decided to try one of the local pubs for food. After being turned away from The George, we went to The York. It was Tapas on the menu and it was sublime. The owner was very lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Even asked us how our holiday was going when we went in a few days later for a quick pint.

What a lovely bar in Easingwold, staff were extremely friendly and surroundings excellent. We enjoyed a meat and cheese sharing platter which was good value and plenty of food for two.

I haven’t tried the food yet but friends have and they really enjoyed it! Have got to know the owner briefly and he’s a really friendly guy, he even started stocking my favourite bottled beer - moretti for me! It’s clear that his intention is to serve good quality food, wines, produce. I think they are putting together a cocktail menu which is great as not many places in the area serve them, I’ve always thought there is a market for this. The menu is cold tapas, antipasti style as I know they are making the most of the limited catering facilities they do have. I wish them the best of luck, I hope folk support them and look forward to seeing what other food they may do in the future ⭐️

The biggest compliment I can pay to the Pie & Oyster is that my partner and I now wish that we live in Easingwold. This place just gets the simple things right. Great food, wine and beer all served up in a genuinely friendly and relaxing environment. Our next visit to the area has just been brought forward.

We visited the newly re-opened York pub in Easingwold. The York has been transformed from a village pub and it is now more of a wine bar with a pleasant atmosphere, named the Pie & Oyster. They are now serving Tapas and we were looking forward to sampling the food. We were very pleased with the meat and cheese board and the pie platter which we selected. The food was excellent and plentiful We also choose a bottle of wine. We eat out regularly and we are always looking for value for our money. When you pay less than £25 per head for a superb substantial meal, plus a bottle of wine & include the tips it certainly ticks all the boxes for us. We are certainly going back to try the same again to check out the consistency. As we live in Easingwold, we are very pleased that now we have another place to eat that is serving up food different to anywhere else in the area. Thank you to the whole team at the York ( Pie and Oyster), we will be back.

We are on a mini tour of all Pubs, Bars and Bistros within a 25 mile square surrounding our house in North Yorkshire. We were familiar with Easingwold but not Pie & Oyster at The York. We chanced upon it when we wanted snacks but not a big dinner. The Tapas we enjoyed was marvellous, as was the service, the wine and the beer. We shall come back soon.
