Superb food, service and wine. With Four friends- two meat, two vegetarian. We went for the chef's menu. Every dish was well balanced, superbly presented and served and tasted great. Wine selection great and added to a top quality experience.

Absolutely delicious small sharing plate restaurant. Focussed on freshest ingredients combined in an imaginative way and balancing flavour with sophistication in presentation. Looks great and tastes even better. Lovely staff and open kitchen works well. Just go and enjoy!

Tare Bistro is a lovely place (a converted shipping container) serving delicious food. We went there for lunch and had the best set lunch that I’ve ever had, both in quality and value. All 3 courses were amazing (£30 which also included a drink) and the service was also outstanding. Thank you for a fabulous experience.

We have been to TARE for the tasting menu a number of times and absulutely loved it. Five star every time – cannot find any negatives. So, it was a very sad day for us when we went along for our last taste of heaven! We were excited to visit TARE Bistro on our next trip to Bristol. Sadly, it simply did not work for us. The food was as tasty and interesting as ever – big thank you to the chefs who create such amazing flavours. In our opinion, the sharing concept simply did not work for these “plates”. The flavours are complex and you need to enjoy every component as it is presented on the plate. Once you start dividing it up you are loosing something – maybe some of the sauce or a delicate flurry of fennel which we could not separate into two shares. We ended up taking half onto one tea plate and leaving the rest in the original bowl so that at least one of us had a bit of everything. We had the lobster cannelloni - which was glorious, except that we had three small pieces - one piece had to be cut in half! Not an attractive dish anymore! Using the same plate and cutlery for every course means that you have sauce from the previous dish now in your new dish. For example, a duck or pork offering is followed by a lobster canneloni or chalk stream trout. It feels wrong to have these flavours all mixed up. I did ask for a fresh plate when mine had mustard on it following the “scotchies”, but I did feel I was asking a huge favour! I also asked for a spoon so that whoever was taking theirs from the main bowl could get some of the delicious sauce. We went to the Bistro knowing it would not be the same as TARE restaurant, however, we did go along with an open mind, knowing the food would be special. The set up of the sharing concept, the atmosphere, the décor simply do not do justice to this amazing food. You cannot relax and savour it when you are scrabbling to ensure you both get the best result. This amazing food needs to be eaten from the dish it is served on – not from a plate that has already had several previous courses placed upon it. The answer is to order dishes just for yourself and not share! Our bill was not that much less than TARE tasting menu and I would have preferred to have spent a bit more and have that special experience, sharing the amazing food but served on your own plate! RIP TARE restaurant, the Bistro sharing concept was simply was not for us. However, the chefs are still creating wonderful flavours which we will always remember and miss.

We had just the best relaxed lunch time with friends at TARE Bistro. The quality and flavours of the fabulous tapas selection lives up to the great reputation of TARE. Top quality wines & great choices of different cocktails. Staff are so friendly too and helped to give us a fab time so thank you all. We will be back!

What a lovely spot. All the food we had was delicious. They had lots of gluten free options. Fantastic cocktails and nice service. One of the nicest and cosiest restaurants we have eaten in for a while.

We ate here when it was Picole, at 5.30pm a year or so ago, at the same time as we booked for today. Completely different experience. First of all, when we stepped in our shoes where sticking to the floor. A poor sign of hygiene that the floor had not been cleaned in some time. Dining as a couple meant we were sat at the small bar, either directly facing the kitchen, or at the window. There was an empty table set for four that wasn't filled in our time there. When the only two seat table became free I asked if we could move to it, but was told no. No one came to that table in the time we were there. We went out as a treat as both of our children were out on sleepovers. It was uncomfortable sitting on small bar stools at a narrow bar, and so disappointing. We left after 45 minutes. Had we been at the table we would have had another glass of wine and a desert, but instead just wanted to get out of there. The staff were good, the cocktails delicious, and the food tasty. The potato rosti with truffle alioli was delicious, but half the size of when they served the same dish when it was Picole. It felt overpriced for an overall dining experience. Filthy sticky floor, uncomfortable seating, and an inability to seat us somewhere else on request, for no reason I could make sense of. It's safe to say we won't go back and won't recommend. If you are a party of three or four, then you will get a table and chairs, but if you're a couple I'd go else where.

We had one of every plate on the menu, and loved each and every one of them! They’re all small plates and the flavours were incredible! Presentation was impeccable and throughly loved it. The wine selection is great, and we will be returning for a wine evening with friends soon. Would definitely recommend paying this place a visit for a chilled bottle of wine with some incredible small plates.

Really lovely lunch on the terrace looking out towards the water. Picole is the sister bar/ eatery of Tare and it’s easy to see if the quality of the food. We shared 2 nibbles and 4 small plates between 2 which was plenty for us. Lovely, friendly service from the chap with the brown moustache, relaxed atmosphere and delicious, beautifully presented food. Would happily recommend

Absolutely delicious food. Track this place down. Not easy to find but you’ll feel so smug when you do. And with super toasty outdoor heating.

Lovely time at picole, book if you can as it’s small and hidden so seats will go quick. :) delicious food (recommend the carrot salad and arancini!) and lovely, interesting wines. They do cocktails and beers and soft drinks as well so there really is something for everyone! Puddings also wonderful, we had the apple cake which was so tasty, with coconut cream and caramel. Service was really nice as well- friendly, informative staff and great tunes! 🎵 I’ll definitely go back!

We arrived at Picole by chance but were delighted by the place. It has a lovely atmosphere and we sat up at the cook station and watched as our small plates were prepared. Each plate was delicious, with some surprising new taste combinations for me and some perfectly rendered classics. Great choice of wine in this tiny gem too! Highly recommend!

Visited on Saturday evening. We’re big fans of Tare so were excited to visit picole. As expected, service was excellent, knowledgable and attentive. Wine choices changed throughout the evening and there was an extensive wine list plus cocktails and beers. Wines were excellent with many options to suit tastes. On food, this was on a par with Tare, where some of the flavour and texture combinations that we found on Tare menus appearing here, but as small plates. The chocolate mousse with honeycomb was beatifically rich and balanced with sea salt and oil, which was the best mousse we have ever eaten. Highly recommend the potato rosti that came with a confit garlic aioli, although we tried almost the entirety of the menu and every single dish was delicious. The raisin purée alongside the cauliflower was also a hit! Textures are often what holds back restaurants, but this is something that again is spot on at picole. Amazing, see you soon!
