Piccolino in Birmingham

It was amazing, I can't believe I've not been before! This is probably my new favourite restaurant in and around Birmingham. Decor is very grand and modern. Service was great, staff were very attentive. Food was served quickly and was very tasty. It was faultless. They give you a cloakroom ticket for your coat, which is great. Will definitely be going again. Excellent overall. Highly recommend.

The food here is nothing short of amazing. All the courses feel just the right size and are wonderfully fresh. The kitchen gets meals out in a timely manner too. The restaurant staff, when you have their attention are great and very attentive. However, at times they’re slow to checkin, and a tad forgetful. It may have just been a particularly busy night. Highly recommend.

We attended this valentines weekend although very busy our server Raphael made the experience great he was very welcoming and efficient , he kept us updated on our food & drinks and got them to us as soon as he could great worker we will definitely be back !

Me and my boyfriend came to Picciliono on Valentine’s day, the service we had was amazing served by a lovely young girl . Before we even got through the door we was asked if we wanted to hang out coats up which is the first time we have been asked out of quite a few restaurants in Birmingham. Our waitress was very fast and met all our needs. Carbonara for two was amazing comes in a cheese wheel i was so excited to try! Overall a lovely experience thank you all 🫶

My friends and I went to Piccolino for dinner during Valentine’s Day. Understandably, it was very busy, the staff at the reception were lovely, however the waiter who served us was particularly unfriendly from the start. Rather than informing my friends that the Chardonnay they ordered was unavailable and asking if they wanted something else to drink, the waiter ended up selecting another bottle of Chardonnay which was significantly more expensive. We didn’t realise this until our bill came to the table. Thankfully, the restaurant agreed to charge us for the price of the original bottle that was ordered. However, given the restaurant is quite high end, and we (along with many others in the restaurant) were very obviously university students, this was quite disappointing. Other than that, the food was extremely delicious, cocktails were nicely made, and the atmosphere was great! Definitely open to coming back!

Lovely atmosphere and tasty food. A place to dress up for! We had a lovely waiter called Rafael, he was easy to talk to and friendly!

Food and ambience excellent. Staff too. Only critic: the toilets are filthy. You should seriously pay more attention to cleanness and simple things like that.

WE WENT FOR THE FIRST TIME TO PICCOLINO AND WE JUST LOVED IT. WE WERE BEING SERVED BY ANNA WHO WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL, KIND, RESPECFUL AND VERY FRIENDLY WE JUST LOVED IT HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT 👌

Dinner was great but our waiter could've been nicer/more attentive. As per usual, there was one table of loud brits nearby that dampened the mood

Piccolino offers a spacious setting with a charming Italian ambiance. However, the menu lacks the variety one might expect from an authentic Italian restaurant. I ordered the Frutti di Mare Rosso, but it fell short of expectations. Instead of the rich tomato-based dish typical of this classic, I was served yellowish rice with a few commercial-grade prawns. I also tried the plain sardines, which arrived unaccompanied—just three small fish on their own. For dessert, I had the Bonna Cotta, which was decent but nothing memorable. For a drink, I opted for cider. The total cost was £52, which I found steep given the food’s quality and portion size. Overall, it felt overpriced for the dining experience provided.

What an amazing experience! Best pasta I have ever eaten (lobster pasta). Special thanks to Rafael that made this experience unforgetable. I'll definetly come back

I had the pleasure of visiting this beautiful restaurant. Wonderfully decorated, wonderful atmosphere. The waiters were very nice and helpful. Everyone is very friendly. The food was fanastic. I highly recommend it

Experience was perfect. I am disabled and wow they access for me in a wheelchair . The waitress that helped me was extremely polite and kind making sure I was comfortable. Most importantly was our meal we enjoyed it was sublime truly Italiano

Went for my husband’s birthday Unfortunately even though it was Sunday, they didn’t have the roast due to it being Christmas We were greeted at the door by Ethan who directed us to a booth and checked regarding the roast dinner He also offered to take photos of us as a family by the tree Our server was Armando who was also friendly & helpful It was lovely to see the new refurbished restaurant All the booths were red leather and are now a plush blue Extra tree decorations were also lovely as well as the Christmas lights Our meals were all very delicious although my linguine vongole was a little on the small side Enough clams but not enough pasta for my liking My husband & son had tiramisu for dessert during which Armando and another server brought a cake with candle & sang Happy Birthday to my husband The small cake was delicious & we thought it was a lovely gesture Would recommend

We had the good fortune to visit Piccolino on 27.12.2024 after going to the theatre in Birmingham. As they say in Gavin and Stacey it was lush. The staff, including Ethan, were excellant too. Thanks to all at Piccolino. Gareth Jenkins.

The ambience is fantastic. Food options were limited though, but I loved the vibe of the place Also, staff is very friendly and welcoming. Would love to visit again.

If there was a 0 star option, then that would've been perfect, but unfortunately there isn't. The servers and the manager were rude and disrespectful, they even forgot about us and delayed our food too. do not recommend going.

The decor is beautiful and we were seated on time. While I highly recommend the calamari, this is where the highlights end. We were seated outside/on the terrace, I believe, which alternated hot and cold with the heater going on and off while we were there, so we ate with our coats on which wasn't the most comfortable. While I would let the slow service slide since it is a busy time of year, I thought the person taking our order was extremely rude. He did not look at us while we were ordering, and instead looked around at other people, spoke to other people while we were trying to order and on more than one occasion walked away from our table while we were ordering, and so forgot what we had said meaning we had to repeat our order. The lasagne, while it had a good flavour, was a bunch of mush in a bowl and a few of the dishes ordered by other people in my party seemed bland, meaning people had to add their own salt. The food quality and service does not match the price point of the restaurant. You'd be better off going to Zizzi a few doors away.

We wanted a table for 2 even though it was slightly busy but not rammed. Got told yes, we have a table, to sit there for over half an hour without anybody giving us a menu or even to be asked what drink we would like. Despite making eye contact with different waitresses who walked passed us to hug a customer. Not professional.

Most of the staff are Italian and lead for a great atmosphere. Beer, food and service were on point. Being a chain, we had low expectations, but in the end, we loved it and even looked to see where the other restaurants were situated.

Food was tasty however staff very unattentive. We walked into the restaurant and were not greeted at all. Despite me saying hello twice to the 2 members of staff on the door. We were taken to our table and had to ask to order drinks and then food. When the waiter came over to take our order, again, we were not greeted with even a hello and the waiter was completely silent. The bill was incorrect and when I got up from the table to walk to the counter to query it ( because it was quicker than waiting for someone to come to the table) I was ignored by 5 members of staff including the manager. After asking for some help, the manager was unfortunately very dismissive. I appreciate it is a busy time of year however, especially given the time of year, the customer service was very poor.

Came here with a group of friends on a Friday night. It was very busy so would recommend pre-booking a table. Our table wasn't ready when we arrived so we ordered drinks at the bar. We had antipasti to start, pizza, lasagne, salmon tagliatelle and a terrace dish. The food was tasty- best flavoured dish was the lasagne. This isn't an inexpensive place but food was nice.

Everything was great, except that the music was too loud.

The food was excellent, the service was really good, and they have the best mojitos of Birmingham. I absolutely recommend the place, thank you Piccolino for a very enjoyable evening, I will definitely go back!

The new decor is modern and inviting. It feels both upscale and comfortable. The staff were attentive and professional, making sure our needs were met without being intrusive.

Ive been at piccolino on Saturday night for my partner birthday and the restaurants was extremely busy but food and service was just special. They even took the time to sing happy birthday to my partner and she really loved the spaghetti sea food and the wine . The only thinng i would mention the restaurants was too dark but other than that the experience was amazing!

Came for a meal with my friends it was our first time visiting and was unsure if we would like it but Joanna gave us class A service and recommended the perfect dish for each of us . Highly recommend for people to try out. Will definitely be back thank you very much !

I was in Birmingham for a work convention, I randomly passed by the small restaurant, I highly recommend it. Menu for every culinary need, a varied choice of wines. The staff is always very helpful, friendly and attentive.

Food was delicious. Restaurant looked stunning but the service was a shambles. I’ve never been anywhere so chaotic. The starters came over and I said we were still waiting for drinks, he went to walk away, I said it’s ok we can have the starters still now, he said wait for the drinks first. Then he actually went back to the kitchen and put the starters on the side, waiting for someone else to bring our drinks meaning seeing our starters sat on the side for 10 mins until they eventually came back to us. None of the waiters knew where food was going, I think every meal that came out went to the wrong place first, which made us assume it probably isn’t the waiter’s fault. But still there was no structure and no one seemed to know what’s what. Is there not a leader to manage this? There was also a blonde waitress walking around the tables shouting every 5 mins, literally ringing my ear it was so loud at times. I’ve never been somewhere where the staff shout over your tables while you’re having dinner. Very unprofessional. More staff seemed to come over, possibly managers, looking very unhappy and we could see they were clearly arguing with each other. At £50 each, it was shocking

Was really looking forward to a lovely meal but the food was very disappointing, overpriced & basic, it’s a pity because the restaurant itself is perfect, wouldn’t recommend.

Served by Joanna and Areti… they were so lovely and sweet, helped with all our menu choices and provided great recommendations.

We ate here on their first night, 15th Nov. Booking process online offered an overly complex choice of tables at a variety of times. We were shown our table - I couldn’t sit down easily as there was no space to pull the chair out, it was tight against the person sitting directly behind me. Ordering was efficient to the extreme - i ordered a starter, my wife didn’t. Before I’d finished speaking my wife was asked if she needed her plate, which I thought was a bit excessive, then my starter arrived within 30s of being ordered. Fortunately the same applied to drinks, they were served within seconds of being ordered. Main courses came after a short pause, my wife enjoyed her chicken/gnocchi dish, my risotto was a bit bland, really nothing special. We declined desserts and paid the bill including the 10% tip that had been added. Would I go back - no, plenty of other restaurants to try out…..

Arrived on time for our table. Was told the table was ready but but that it was a booth and that part of the booth was broken. Was that OK? NO! It’s not OK!! Everything from then on went down hill. Furniture piled up outside the windows, lacklustre service and totally bland and flavourless food. A disgrace. Turns out it was the last night before refurbishment and it showed. No one gave a damn. Waiter was clueless. No one checked how the foods was - and it was flavourless and totally forgetable. A real taste of Italy? No way. Truly awful. Hang your head in shame.

Celebrated my mother’s birthday here and what an amazing fine dining place to be was very nice. The vibe is really chill and you have that intimacy yet you still have the background noise so it really gives a good feeling of a little bit of everything. I recently dined at Picolino, and it was an amazing experience from start to finish. The ambiance was warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a relaxed meal. The menu offered a great variety of delicious dishes, each prepared with fresh ingredients and full of flavor. The staff were attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was just right. It was my partner's birthday, and we were delighted to find a bunch of roses on the table, which made the experience unique. I would highly recommend Picolino to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience. I’ll definitely be coming back 🥰🥰

Been for lunch with my friends, staff has always been very friendly, making us feel very welcome, Antonio has been amazing, managers were great, Danilo was great, expecially Aretì was superb and gave us a perfect experience. Food excellent, we will be back. 5 starts
