Nice decor, atmosphere was good, staff were friendly a little slow to get drinks and the bill but overall okay, food as average

Went for my husband’s birthday Unfortunately even though it was Sunday, they didn’t have the roast due to it being Christmas We were greeted at the door by Ethan who directed us to a booth and checked regarding the roast dinner He also offered to take photos of us as a family by the tree Our server was Armando who was also friendly & helpful It was lovely to see the new refurbished restaurant All the booths were red leather and are now a plush blue Extra tree decorations were also lovely as well as the Christmas lights Our meals were all very delicious although my linguine vongole was a little on the small side Enough clams but not enough pasta for my liking My husband & son had tiramisu for dessert during which Armando and another server brought a cake with candle & sang Happy Birthday to my husband The small cake was delicious & we thought it was a lovely gesture Would recommend

We had the good fortune to visit Piccolino on 27.12.2024 after going to the theatre in Birmingham. As they say in Gavin and Stacey it was lush. The staff, including Ethan, were excellant too. Thanks to all at Piccolino. Gareth Jenkins.

The ambience is fantastic. Food options were limited though, but I loved the vibe of the place Also, staff is very friendly and welcoming. Would love to visit again.

If there was a 0 star option, then that would've been perfect, but unfortunately there isn't. The servers and the manager were rude and disrespectful, they even forgot about us and delayed our food too. do not recommend going.

Really tasty food, great atmosphere and top service!

The decor is beautiful and we were seated on time. While I highly recommend the calamari, this is where the highlights end. We were seated outside/on the terrace, I believe, which alternated hot and cold with the heater going on and off while we were there, so we ate with our coats on which wasn't the most comfortable. While I would let the slow service slide since it is a busy time of year, I thought the person taking our order was extremely rude. He did not look at us while we were ordering, and instead looked around at other people, spoke to other people while we were trying to order and on more than one occasion walked away from our table while we were ordering, and so forgot what we had said meaning we had to repeat our order. The lasagne, while it had a good flavour, was a bunch of mush in a bowl and a few of the dishes ordered by other people in my party seemed bland, meaning people had to add their own salt. The food quality and service does not match the price point of the restaurant. You'd be better off going to Zizzi a few doors away.

We wanted a table for 2 even though it was slightly busy but not rammed. Got told yes, we have a table, to sit there for over half an hour without anybody giving us a menu or even to be asked what drink we would like. Despite making eye contact with different waitresses who walked passed us to hug a customer. Not professional.

Most of the staff are Italian and lead for a great atmosphere. Beer, food and service were on point. Being a chain, we had low expectations, but in the end, we loved it and even looked to see where the other restaurants were situated.

Came here with a group of friends on a Friday night. It was very busy so would recommend pre-booking a table. Our table wasn't ready when we arrived so we ordered drinks at the bar. We had antipasti to start, pizza, lasagne, salmon tagliatelle and a terrace dish. The food was tasty- best flavoured dish was the lasagne. This isn't an inexpensive place but food was nice.

Food was tasty however staff very unattentive. We walked into the restaurant and were not greeted at all. Despite me saying hello twice to the 2 members of staff on the door. We were taken to our table and had to ask to order drinks and then food. When the waiter came over to take our order, again, we were not greeted with even a hello and the waiter was completely silent. The bill was incorrect and when I got up from the table to walk to the counter to query it ( because it was quicker than waiting for someone to come to the table) I was ignored by 5 members of staff including the manager. After asking for some help, the manager was unfortunately very dismissive. I appreciate it is a busy time of year however, especially given the time of year, the customer service was very poor.

Everything was great, except that the music was too loud.

The new decor is modern and inviting. It feels both upscale and comfortable. The staff were attentive and professional, making sure our needs were met without being intrusive.

The food was excellent, the service was really good, and they have the best mojitos of Birmingham. I absolutely recommend the place, thank you Piccolino for a very enjoyable evening, I will definitely go back!

I was in Birmingham for a work convention, I randomly passed by the small restaurant, I highly recommend it. Menu for every culinary need, a varied choice of wines. The staff is always very helpful, friendly and attentive.

Ive been at piccolino on Saturday night for my partner birthday and the restaurants was extremely busy but food and service was just special. They even took the time to sing happy birthday to my partner and she really loved the spaghetti sea food and the wine . The only thinng i would mention the restaurants was too dark but other than that the experience was amazing!

Absolutely delicious food. Unpretentious, friendly but professional service. Oysters and antipasti were a treat Steak was perfectly seared Not inexpensive but worth every penny A year later... new outdoor seating area... but the food is just as good.

Food was delicious. Restaurant looked stunning but the service was a shambles. I’ve never been anywhere so chaotic. The starters came over and I said we were still waiting for drinks, he went to walk away, I said it’s ok we can have the starters still now, he said wait for the drinks first. Then he actually went back to the kitchen and put the starters on the side, waiting for someone else to bring our drinks meaning seeing our starters sat on the side for 10 mins until they eventually came back to us. None of the waiters knew where food was going, I think every meal that came out went to the wrong place first, which made us assume it probably isn’t the waiter’s fault. But still there was no structure and no one seemed to know what’s what. Is there not a leader to manage this? There was also a blonde waitress walking around the tables shouting every 5 mins, literally ringing my ear it was so loud at times. I’ve never been somewhere where the staff shout over your tables while you’re having dinner. Very unprofessional. More staff seemed to come over, possibly managers, looking very unhappy and we could see they were clearly arguing with each other. At £50 each, it was shocking

Was really looking forward to a lovely meal but the food was very disappointing, overpriced & basic, it’s a pity because the restaurant itself is perfect, wouldn’t recommend.

Served by Joanna and Areti… they were so lovely and sweet, helped with all our menu choices and provided great recommendations.

We ate here on their first night, 15th Nov. Booking process online offered an overly complex choice of tables at a variety of times. We were shown our table - I couldn’t sit down easily as there was no space to pull the chair out, it was tight against the person sitting directly behind me. Ordering was efficient to the extreme - i ordered a starter, my wife didn’t. Before I’d finished speaking my wife was asked if she needed her plate, which I thought was a bit excessive, then my starter arrived within 30s of being ordered. Fortunately the same applied to drinks, they were served within seconds of being ordered. Main courses came after a short pause, my wife enjoyed her chicken/gnocchi dish, my risotto was a bit bland, really nothing special. We declined desserts and paid the bill including the 10% tip that had been added. Would I go back - no, plenty of other restaurants to try out…..

Arrived on time for our table. Was told the table was ready but but that it was a booth and that part of the booth was broken. Was that OK? NO! It’s not OK!! Everything from then on went down hill. Furniture piled up outside the windows, lacklustre service and totally bland and flavourless food. A disgrace. Turns out it was the last night before refurbishment and it showed. No one gave a damn. Waiter was clueless. No one checked how the foods was - and it was flavourless and totally forgetable. A real taste of Italy? No way. Truly awful. Hang your head in shame.

Celebrated my mother’s birthday here and what an amazing fine dining place to be was very nice. The vibe is really chill and you have that intimacy yet you still have the background noise so it really gives a good feeling of a little bit of everything. Special thanks to Areti for setting up the whole birthday celebration and organising the amazing food! Also Esha who also helped. Great place! Solid 5 stars ⭐️

Visited Piccollino with some friends on Sunday afternoon. We had the Truffle pizza and truffle wagyu lasagna, carbonara and shared the tuna carpaccio and a salad. The food was good and the service really friendly. Especially Areti was so welcoming and friendly. She did a great job!

I always been my favorite restaurant as they alwaus go behind and beyond making you feeling very special. I understand that it's closing on the 21st for refurbishment looking forward to the new restaurant I am sure the food will still be amazing and I know the service will still be excellent so looking forward to see the new restaurant

I recently dined at Picolino, and it was an amazing experience from start to finish. The ambiance was warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a relaxed meal. The menu offered a great variety of delicious dishes, each prepared with fresh ingredients and full of flavor. The staff were attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was just right. It was my partner's birthday, and we were delighted to find a bunch of roses on the table, which made the experience unique. Very disappointed with this place. The food was very bland and overpriced we waited a long time for it even though it wasn’t busy . The waitress was just not interested in serving us just their regular customers. I will never go again .

The restaurant is so dark you can barely read the menu . The food was nothing special neither was the service . We will not eat there again not value for money at all.

Been going to Picolino for many years always found it to be great food & Loverly service, when in Birmingham we go for the Sunday lunch and it stands comparison with anywhere in the city, They are having a refurb in October- November can’t wait to see the results,

The tiramisu stands out as a highlight, while the rest of the dishes, including the bruschetta and spaghetti, were average. The pizza and calzone were enjoyable. Service was satisfactory, matching the overall ambiance. Prices are reasonable, making it a decent choice for a casual meal.

Took friends here on Saturday evening after a very enjoyable first visit some weeks ago. Second time was not a great experience. My wife ordered a chicken and pasta dish and when it arrived we were able to count 4 tiny pieces of chicken which appeared to have come from a packet. One of our friends found six tiny pieces. When we complained, more chicken was added but it looked like it had come from a Tesco pre-cooked flat pack and was flavourless. We did not receive an apology or an adjustment to our bill. Service was slow and the noise level was more like a nightclub than a fine dining establishment. Restaurants presumably want to be busy - so when they are they need to be able to provide an appropriate level of service and cuisine. Really disappointing, we won't be going back (and I am not a serial negative reviewer, this is rare for me but Piccolino should do better).

Fantastic cocktails and good food a great place to eat

Food tasted good but first course, bruschetta, was cold. Second course, sea bass, potato side came late. And it was so noisy that we could hardly hear each other.

I had dinner with colleagues at this restaurant. What can I say, as an Italian, reviewing an Italian restaurant abroad in a positive way is really complex but I had a great time here. Starting from the very vast menu in Italian (with many vegan and gluten-free options), the exceptional service: the Italian waitress was perfect with our table, and the taste of the dishes was well balanced! I'm really happy and can't wait to go back.

This place is such a gem! The staff are very friendly and attentive! Food is amazing- I had the Pollo Al tartufo, which was perfect! Gnocchi were super fresh and soft with a filling inside, the sauce was the perfect balance of creaminess and truffle, the chicken paired great with the sauce but honestly, I would even have the truffle sauce with gnocchi alone!! Cocktails were on point- we ordered aperol spirits and it was a perfect balance of all the ingredients! The atmosphere inside is lovely, with dimmed lights and candles on the tables which definitely makes it more romantic.

Celebrated my Mother's 85th birthday here yesterday with Family Not the best due to no lights in restaurant or Gents toilets Was informed by the Waitress that they have candles which is romantic ! Also she informed us that the refurbishment begins next week so no worries ! Everyone in the restaurant read the menus by flash light on mobile phones Food not brilliant Don't think we will book again

The service was friendly, reasonably attentive but a little slow. The quality of the food however is lacking. Pasta dishes sparse on main ingredients, dry and obviously made without use of the acqua di cottura. Pizzas are good but alot of the dishes suffer from being either bland or vurosciously over seasoned. For example my scallop starter was crusted in black pepper ruining the delicate taste of the scallops. They were also served on bland mashed potato, which for a starter is very odd. The biggest issue on the day was that apparently the restaurant had "run out" of light bulbs and we all had to sit in dim candlelight. The toilets were even darker. A strange and (for poor food) an expensive experience. I won't be visiting this chain again anytime soon.
