The first sign that this was a good choice was that the majority of the customers seemed to be Chinese families. We ordered what we thought were small dishes but which turned out to be very substantial. The prawn toast was unlike any I’ve ever had before! Prawns wrapped in complete “ sandwich” of sesame toast. absolutely delicious. My granddaughter wanted “ garlic lettuce” which was cooked lettuce in a sauce - again gorgeous but really filling. The only thing not to our taste was “ spare ribs in black bean sauce” which was not what I was expecting and I thought tasteless. Everything else was delicious. However take a lesson from us- we ordered far too much and brought home two complete dishes! ( not counting the spare ribs which we left). So just order a little then add as required!

We went for evening meal as two couples with one of our party being Celiac/ gluten intolerant Very extensive menu but a lack of dishes on the menu to compensate for this condition, really disappointing since we phoned in advance to ensure there was a good choice of dishes to accommodate this condition. The staff didn’t seem to have the knowledge of what was ok and what was not which we found a bit worrying. Place in general was ok , we went for the banquet for 3 people and was fine and generally the food was good. Just felt as if it spoiled the evening with one of our party having very little choice

I chose this restaurant based on some google reviews and wasn’t disappointed. The food was all absolutely delicious. We had the banquet and the portions were really generous, all the food was super tasty, staff really friendly and price was great value for money. I would highly recommend Phoenix for a great Chinese meal.

Delicious food. We had dim sum and noodles. Would go back again. Phoenix is situated in Stowell Street, Newcastle, what used to be Shangri-La.

I took my teenage son here for lunch. The restaurant was warm and welcoming, and the staff were all great. We did not have to wait long for our lunch of dim sums and sushi, all of which was delicious. The price was also very reasonable. We’ll certainly come here again.

Fantastic food. Excellent service. Hidden gem. Walked in on a busy Saturday night having fooloishly not prebooked anywhere. We were given a warm welcome. Waitresses very attentive. The food was delicious, the duck spring rolls were the best I've had, everyone in our party of 4 really enjoyed their meal. Absolutely loads of choice from sashimi to fried rice.. we will be back.

We had the set meal £35 pp and it was a delicious combination of tastiness and was endless. Compliments to the chef the food was perfect. Prices for meal and drinks is good. Wonderful environment for familyandfriendsto dine together. Alot of thought has gone into the menu, service, and environment. Thoroughly recommend dining there.

Generous helpings of excellent food at reasonable prices, with friendly, efficient, helpful service & a patio where you can eat outdoors with a view of the River Tyne & the hills beyond. I found the place by accident, & am now a regular. I especially recommend their fried egg sandwiches (in an enormous bun), their delicious quiche, their original pasties, & their fabulous baked potatoes with salad. (And if you like spicy food, be sure to try their spicy onions - they’re wonderful!) Oh, & don’t forget to try their home-made soup 👍
