Excellent service, friendly staff, very resonable prices, enormous portions, and the best cantonese style duck I have ever had in England.

This is a delivery review. The food is always good. However the last two times we ordered, the food was so late. We thought the last time was just a blip. But last night, we ordered at 6:30pm, the food turned up after 9pm. We chased them a couple of times and each time they said "it's just leaving..." (We're 10mins away.) But over 2.5 hours is just so bad. We got so frustrated as we had elderly people who eat early. Whilst the food is good, we're not ordering from them again.

Last few times I’ve ordered from the restaurant the delivery time has been massively exaggerated and orders delivered late. Last one took 2 hours and was over an hour after the estimated delivery time. Good was cold and not up to standard. I have been using the takeaway and restaurant for over 30 years and the service and food is seriously going downhill. Customer service is abysmal, agree to refund and tell you to keep the food just to get you off the phone then refused to process the refund. AVOID!

This place is somewhere where we can always go for a good meal! Food is lovely and tasty and service always good! We didn't book but seemed to be there on our own 1 min and full tables the next so I would advise to book 7pm onwards

Food good, service ok although limited wine choice. Atmosphere lacking as we went on a quiet night...and it was very cold...assume its warmer with body heat when its full.

Quite throughly disappointed, all meals arrived cold, we are 10 mins away, chilli beef was sweet with no heat at all, 2 chicken satay skewers for £5.80!!! Nearly £40 spent and most in the bin!!! Only thing good was the rice!! At least there is prawn crackers!!!

Very very slow service. Not enough people and again Just Eat orders get prioritised over restaurant orders. Took over two hours to get our mains. We won’t be back!

I’ve been going to this restaurant since it opened. I’ve always said it is the best Chinese in Lincoln, ordered a takeaway last night, it was the most tasteless meal I’ve had from there it tasted like everything was watered down.Im sure jimmy who ran it from day one would be mortified how bad it was last night. Things have to improve if we buy from there again.

Visited the restaurant for a birthday meal, we all had starters & mains all of which were excellent. The service was very good, only negative I would say is it was a little cold in the restaurant.

The Venue Very old outdated place cold and uncomfortable place to eat your food The food Cantonese chicken Hong Kong style - presentation looked good the taste however, completely tasteless and rock hard not fresh atall Egg fried rice, very plain Duck in plumb sauce tasted like orange sauce instead Drinks very expensive, we finished our drinks and headed to the counter and asked the member of staff if we could pay for the drinks as food was unacceptable. All staff members looked at us just to top off the uncomfortable atmosphere. Unfortunately won't be returning.

My wife and I needed an evening meal before returning home with our grandson from Uni. What a good choice we made eating at the Phoenix Cantonese Restaurant. We were made very welcome, the friendly staff sorted our order and drinks. When the food came it was superb. Very tasty, good portions and lovely tasting egg fried rice. We recommend this restaurant to all who read this review.

Ordered on just eat wasn't happy, phoned up as my order was late and all I got was we are busy and you live 7 miles , how about you reduce your £7 delivery charge when you can't stick to the time quoted no apologies, last time I will order from here now been nearly 2hrs and still waiting

Not been to the Phoenix for many years but eight of us shared a birthday celebration there and could not have had a better meal with high quality food, friendly and helpful staff and the atmosphere of lovely traditional restaurant.. so much better than visiting pubs as we more regularly do. Highly recommended with meal prices in the 25 pound price range which we thought was good value for the experience. Ideal for a special occasion.

As always, a good Cantonese restaurant, & the food does not disappoint. Pleased it's still open 👍

Im afraid this restaurant has seen a decline in quality and im hoping it is just a blip but the steak Cantonese style was nothing like before and the sweet and sour pork Hong Kong style was completely unacceptable

Ordered food over 2 hours ago, with an estimated delivery of 18:55-19:15. As its 19:46, I decided to call to ask the restaurant if the food was delayed for any reason. They answered and then left the phone off the hook. Still waiting to hear.

Food was good except the Singapore noodles we will certainly visit again

Well what I say . I have had several take away meals from this restaurant and tonight it was honestly awful ! We ordered 3 mains and some egg friend rice . Can’t go wrong with egg fried rice . How wrong I was. Never tasted anything like it. So so starchy….never had anything like it before . It was horrible . No flavour of egg whatsoever . The duck main had thick fat on it which hadn’t been rendered down…again horrible . The chicken with broccoli was bland ( i ordered beef ) and the special chow mein was noodles with a mix of ingredients thrown on top…just a gloopy mess . We used to rate this as the best in Lincoln but based on this….no good at all.

The restaurant is very nicely decorated, bright in colour and clean, we were taking up the offer of a birthday meal. After showing proof, we booked a set meal for two which had an eight pound supplement. The drinks arrived promptly with starter following soon after. The main course had four dishes along with rice. All the food was tasty and served hot, overall we had a good meal and would recommend a visit in the future

Food was delicious and staff very helpful and friendly.

Food arrived on time beef chow mein very bland not a lot of taste . Special ginger and spring onion again bland struggle to taste any ginger, pork really chewy generally a mushy mess. For the price extremely poor quality. Bearing in mind I've used phoenix for 30 years. I won't be using them again.

Not had much luck with takeaway recently so decided on this place and definitely glad I did now. The staff were very friendly and was received 20 mins earlier than the expected delivery time. You can tell they really care about the food they send out as everything was cooked beautifully. Thank you!

I was almost put off by going here by the negative reviews but we had a most enjoyable evening. The food was served quickly & piping hot, everything was absolutely delicious. It’s a real tradition Chinese & Cantonese restaurant, of which sadly there aren’t too many left. The service was impeccable. We had a fabulous evening & will definitely go again.

Yet to find a decent ‘Chinese’ in Lincoln. A very standard affair offering 90s style Chinese fodder. Salt and pepper chicken disappointing. A measles potion of prawn crackers. Just poor overall. The search continues.

The house's special Chinese fried rice was dry, that was like eating Polvorones... I had to drink three Coca-Colas to wash down the rice...

Sit in, take out or delivery, always top quality. From the service to the food, everything about the Phienix is an absolute pleasure to experience. You can't do Lincoln without doing the Phoenix!!!

Sweet and sour chicken was like thin slice of chicken in a very thick bater which wasn't cooked in middle egg fried rice was as if they had used 1 egg for 4 portions . Only thing I can say was hot and sour soup was good .

Phoenix Cantonese Restaurant and Takeaway My mum and I decided to treat ourselves on New Year's Eve by ordering takeout from The Phoenix. We would always choose the Phoenix for our Chinese takeaway, so much so that we would travel from Witham St Hughs to get it! This was until we had a bad experience where there was something inconspicuous in one of the dishes, which put us off the entire meal and us ordering takeout from there again. We decided to give it another shot after hearing some positive feedback; after all, it was only one bad experience. The wait time for collection was one hour, which I thought was very reasonable given that it was New Year's Eve, so I can't really complain. The collection time was accurate, and the food was ready no more than 2 minutes after we arrived - we were off to a good start. When we got home (5 minutes later), the food was hot and looked appetising, but the taste, or lack of, was what completely ruined the meal for me. The chow mein was flavourless and dry, as was the chicken fried rice. The chicken in the rice was moist, but the rice itself was dry, undercooked, and flavourless. The salt and pepper chips were probably the worst I've ever had; they were literally just smothered in salt and pepper seasoning, which made them far too salty and artificial. They didn't have any vegetables (good s&p chips are tossed with onions, pepper, and spring onion), so I almost considered them inedible. The only good part of the meal was the sweet and sour chicken, however, it wasn't as good as I remembered it being in previous years. When I was younger, and Joe worked there, the Phoenix was always our go-to spot. We always thought it was the best Chinese/Cantonese restaurant and takeaway in Lincoln because the food was always fresh and cooked to perfection. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case. I am also aware that we may have simply been 'unlucky' with our experience this time, but when people spend their hard-earned money on food, whether in a restaurant, café, takeaway, or any other eating establishment, I expect good quality food and service and will not accept anything less. This is a consumer market, and if you don't up your game, people will take their business elsewhere - just something to keep in mind during these trying economic times.

Worse takeaway I've ever had in my life! No passion in the food cooked at all! Pile of slop and grease. That'll do Moto. Ruined my night completely. When the best thing delivered is the prawn crackers it says a lot

For many years we have been to the phoenix restaurant and had great food and service. After a few months we decided to return…what a mistake! The starters came out very quickly which were ok. We then had to wait another 50 minutes for our main course. I asked why it took so long and they said they were busy with takeaways. I am sorry, restaurant’s should not give priority to takeaways over restaurant diners. The restaurant only had us and another table of 6 in, which for the Christmas period is not busy at all. They had 2 staff on to deal with orders etc. Perhaps it’s time they looked at their business. I won’t be returning.

Excellent food as always, love it here, the staff are great! There were a couple of large parties in that made it difficult to hear our own conversations at points but to be expected at Christmas time.

The food was excellent but getting the correct bill was a nightmare. After waiting 15 minutes for the bill to arrive we had to go to the bar to find we had been charged for a round of drinks that were not ours. It took ages to get it sorted out. The manager had bits of paper all over the bar top and didn't seem to have a clue who had had what. Spoilt what was a very good evening.

Excellent christmas food banquet, couldn't fault the quality and value for money. Very busy with lots of parties. You may need to book . But when it came to the bill we were overcharged for alcoholic drinks we hadnt ordered Good job we noticed as bill not itemised either !

Placed my 1st order tonight with them advised it would be delivered between 6:30 and 6:45 with plenty of time before the kids went to bed, after ringing the restaurant they 1st blamed it on the drivers and said it would be 30 minutes or more then said they were cooking i just cooking it now so who is at fault ? Shocking service won't bother again

We have lived in Lincolnshire for about 14 years now and my wife and I both agree this was the best chinese meal we have had. Chinese food is our favourite so we have tried many takeaway and restaurants over the years but the food stands out as the best for us here. We will be back and hope it is just as good next time.

The food was very good quality and full of excellent flavour. Based on this, we would highly recommend the Phoenix. Unfortunately, the demeanour of the waitress left a lot to be desired. We also ordered Yung Chow fried rice which normally comes as a large portion in other Chinese restaurants. We were asked if we wanted a small bowl or a medium size bowl of the rice. We asked for medium and it was a good amount for two people. They charged it as two portions and a bowl of rice ended up costing £13. Absolutely outrageous and means we would not recommend going here. Great food but no-one likes being ripped off in this way.

Thank you for a most enjoyable banquet meal for a party of 7 adults and 2 children. All elements of the meal were excellent, the service was great. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening. We were the last customers and left to enjoy and chat between ourselves. Well done, highly recommend.

Food was beautiful! Staff were efficient, but could perhaps smile a little more. They were polite, just very serious, lol. Would definite visit again and recommend!

Never had a bad meal here, and I come back every few years or so.

Chips were uncooked in the middle, the "ribs" was one rib and was dry. Chicken was something out of a can. They charged extra for delivery when we already paid on Just Eat. Guaranteed will have food poisoning. Had to bin it all. Avoid.

If I could give this place 0 stars then i absolutely would, it was disgusting, cold, soggy, greasy food. Stuff missing from our order, we threw away £30 worth of food. Absolutely appauled and no refund could be given, only credit, which is no good when i wont be a returning customer! VILE.

Ordered my food via Justeat to be given a time of 45 minutes. However after an hour of waiting I had still not received my food. I contacted the restaurant to find out what was happening to be told they was very busy & my order would take another 45 minutes. After yet another 45 minutes I received a call from a member of staff from the restaurant only to tell me that their driver could not find my address & that I would be refunded my money in a few days. Utterly useless would never use again.

If I could give 1 star I would. Ordered at 18.57pm and the time is now 21.04 and nothing has arrived, I've rang the takeaway TWICE now and I'm told repeatedly its with the driver and it'll be with me in 15 mins, so far nothing! Wish I'd read the reviews before I'd ordered as I'd have avoided this place like the plague AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!! 21.24pm food arrived, it was Stone cold and was bland and tasteless, the egg fried rice was just boiled rice with scrambled egg and i think they were rashoning the prawn crackers. By far the WORST Chinese I've ever attempted to eat, avoid this establishment if you know whats good for you.

Shredded chilli beef was one glutinous mess, the sweet and sour prawn balls were badly burnt, I did find a tiny bit of egg in the egg fried rice (hey, Mr Chef, if I’d just wanted boiled rice, that’s what I would have ordered). Very, very, disappointed, having spent over £70.

Ordered as our local Chinese was closed. Never had such a bad experience. Egg fried rice = boiled rice with scrambled egg chucked in, tasteless. Chip shop chips but still hard. Chicken chow mein with just thin egg noodles. Meat Pancake rolls but only tasted the oil and mushrooms!? Maybe just like our own local but didn’t like any item we ordered. It even cost us more! Will definitely make do with home cooked it local isn’t open next time. Each to their own, but not to our liking.

I use to swear by this place but it's nose dived beyond belief. Order a delivery at 19:15 was told 20:05, called them at 2025 and was told they are busy and its nearly there, once more at 20:40 and told he's close, 2100 I asked a refund as it still hadn't turned up. Was given a refund but told I could have the food when it turned up...3 days later and I'm still waiting...mental.

Ordered on the premises - takeaway. I have used previously but not since Covid started. Got home and served up food. Was horrified to discover the Sweet and Sour Chicken had raw chicken in middle and batter was also raw around the chicken at the thickest points - totally inedible. Rang them and they credited the value of that dish. When eating realised the special fried rice had not been fried - well certainly not for long - tasted like boiled rice. Barely any vegetables/meat mixed in with rice. Chicken Cantonese - chicken was tough and sauce runny and insipid. Beef choi mein was ok - only ok I shall be sticking to my normal takeaway - Asia Gardens who have NEVER let me down on quality. I will NOT be using/recommending Pheonix again.

To be honest I was abit disappointed, I was led to believe this was the best Chinese restaurant in Lincoln, the sweet and sour chicken was greasy, the beef saszwan was tough and the prawns were over cooked..... disappointed.

Ordered online as I didn't have any cash. Phoned to change the order. On both occasions I wasn't told I would need to pay the driver extra to the delivery I had already paid taking delivery to over £6!!! Had I been told this I would of canciled and ordered somewhere elce. Anywhere as they are all cheaper. I only decided to give them a try as I had herd good reviews. The food was bland at best and cold. Chicken balls weren't even balls they were flat slices and incredibly greasy. £50 down the drain 🤢🤢

This place used to be great,but not anymore,1 out of 3 dishes was edible,chilli chicken was so tough I count even get the fork into some bits & the char siu pork was chewy & tough,bit like it had just been fried to warm it up,won't be going back

Ordered a delivery last week through Just Eat, still getting over the shock of our meal. We have used Phoenix many times but this time the meal was to say the least awful. Convinced they have changed their cooks as the sauces were watered down,...

Ordered a takeaway which was over half an hour late. The quality of the food was shocking- the crispy chilli beef was drowned in a sauce so strong it was overbearing, the meat in it needed a steak knife to cut it, the crispy duck...

If you like tasty food find somewhere else. The Singapore rice had a few pieces of chicken and vegetables but other than that was just spiced rice for £6.50? 2 pieces of chicken satay in a watery sauce. Deep fried chilli beef in basically a soya sauce. Kung pao chicken again in a basic watery sauce, and a very similar sauce to the shewzwan sauce. The only reason we ate this was because we ordered our food at 18.12 and it arrived at 20. 22. Over 2 hours to get a simple order, but OK it was simple food with basic quality. I'd rather buy the Chinese meal deal for 2 from the local supermarket than buy from here again.

I don't know how you do you're chow main but the noodles are worse that an 99p instant bag! Hour an a half on delivery, but I'd normally wait an hour when ordering from (Leon) so yeah just go Leon guys tops it by a mile..

Food took over an hour to be delivered, order was missing a dish and others were mixed up. Portion size was good and taste reasonable but wouldn't use again.

Went for a Chinese for a takeaway On a Saturday night and it was simply the worst experience ever. Food was over 1 hour LATE and when it arrived it was cold and awful. Never again will we get a meal from here.

Told one hour. Arrived 40 minutes late. No one at the restaurant seemed to care in the slightest. Overpriced. Will not use again.
