Celebrated a family member turning 30 here tonight (7/11/2024) and it was our first visit. We’d heard it was good and we weren’t disappointed. Delicious food, fantastic service and lovely atmosphere. We can’t wait to come back!

Very friendly and a great menu. We had Green Curry and beef Jungle curry both of which were exceptional. The lack of an alcohol license was not dampener as there is a minimart virtually next door with a fine array of wines and spirits that can be consumed in the restaurant.

We ordered a takeaway and the service was quick and efficient. I wasn't terribly impressed with the food though, in my opinion it seemed a bit lack lustre. I enjoy Thai food and have been to several different Thai restaurants, the food in those had much more flavour than this ones had.

Popped in for dinner one evening and was not disappointed. The main dishes were amazing. The green curry was fantastic, and the chef’s special duck was phenomenal. Would come again just for the duck dish! As other reviews have stated, this restaurant does BYOB and charges a corkage fee. This was mentioned to us as soon as we were seated, which was not a problem for us.

The menu ticks the right boxes though it's BYO so bear that in mind, having said that there's a convenience store next door. The fish cakes weren't great in all fairness, quite greasy if the truth be told. Opted for the jungle curry and it was OK but lacking in a great deal of flavour. Would never judge the place on one visit though and it was certainly busy enough, I'll have to try again next time.

With it being a surprisingly quiet for a Friday night, ourselves and another table of diners received a more attentive evening from the management than we probably would have. Even more than with my wife being Thai. All the staff were friendly, polite and helpful. It’s a small set establishment on the main road so we parked at a nearby car park that was free after 5:30pm. The restaurant doesn’t currently have an alcohol license but charge a £1 corkage fee for every bottle/wine. There’s a small convenience shop 2 doors down offering 3 for £6 on bottled beers but have missed a trick on not selling Singha beer. Starters were ordered. Thai prawn crackers (with a nice small spicy kick), duck spring rolls and Chicken satay. I only received 2 rolls, at first I thought I was being conned but they were stuffed full of duck, hot and tasted great. My wife, as could be predicted, ordered her favourite Penang beef and thoroughly enjoyed it, though was enjoying my Massaman beef curry, that had a nice garnish of peanuts, more. The beef would just fall apart in your mouth. We were informed it was slow cooked from earlier in the morning. It tasted divine. To mix the taste range for this evening’s meals we also ordered duck pad kra pow and the chef was kind enough to reduce the spicy/heat level. Again it tasted wonderful. It was always nice to have food served in light colored tableware. Overall we had a lovely Thai meal to celebrate our wedding anniversary.

We came for a taster evening of Thai food. Friendly atmosphere and attentive staff. Checked on your taste buds although one of the main course was too spicy for our taste buds but the rest of the food was a delight.

Amazing Thai takeaway. Had mushroom tom yum, spice level was clean and tasty with a slight burn. Tofu drunken noodles were delicious albeit a little oily. The chilli and ginger jar I also picked up is exceptional. For a tiny town this food is really high class. I love in a town with 4 Thai restaurants and this easily matches rhe top restaurant in my town for taste

We picked up a take away for lazy Tuesday evening, food was ready in 30 min, we live just in town so we stared eating within 15 minutes from pick up. We were absolutely amazed with how full of flavour, fresh and delicious every single dish was. We are definitely coming back for more! Made myself a promise not to order any other take away until I try everything in Phanthong Thaj, great food, well done!

Excellent friendly service & the food is amazing - have been twice now & had the drunken chicken noodles both times. Absolutely beautiful. If you like spicy Thai food, you will love this gem of a restaurant. If you want to go in the evening I advise you to book a table as they get booked up quickly.

Decided on a Thai as we love Thai food. This place has no licence so popped next door for some wine. Ask for an ice bucket, they don't give you one unless you ask. Ordered the food, My starter was my favourite which is Satay Chicken. It arrived and was not like any Satay chicken I've ever had, the chicken was slimy and the slime dripped down my hand. Nibbled the end of and it tasted awful. The dip was no better with no peanut flavour. I sent it back, then was surprised when a woman who I assume is the owner appeared with the chef, and challenged me to explain to the chef why I didn't like her food, and asked me had I ever eaten Thai before. After telling her yes, all over the world and in Thailand itself, and that the dish served was the worst of all, she dragged the poor chef and her patronising self back to the kitchen. My main course was duck, and frankly it was in my eyes deliberately saturated in chili, it was hotter than hot, which normally I don't mind but this was ridiculous. My wife's food was bland. we just paid and left and will not be back. I understand it's a new restaurant, well you have to do better than that to survive these days!

Absolutely lovely place!! Authentic Thai food. We had the Pad Thai, Massaman Curry and Jungle Curry. All good sized portions! The prawns pad Thai was amazing! But not as good as the Massaman! That was amazing!! I told the waitress that I didn’t like my food too spicy and was told that the chef cooks everything to order so I could reduce the spice! This is such a lovely touch! The chef (owner) came out to ask how our meal was. Also another bonus was it doesn’t have a licence so you can take your own drinks and pay a small corkage fee! 3 of us ate starters and mains for less than £12 each!!

We found this location disappointing, Our visit was in the first week of it opening. Firstly our booking for 5 had been removed from the book, less than 24 hours after I has physically walked in to book. Staff seemed to prioritise take out bookings, we had to ask for our order to be taken. This was after nearly 20 minutes of waiting. Availability of menu items wasn’t known, having ordered 3 Satay Chicken starters only one was available. This should be known at the point of ordering, not later. The Satay Chicken which was served , did not look appetising, and was not warmed up thoroughly, this was a possible health risk. Another starter which had been ordered never arrived. All these occurrences made us decide to cancel our mains and leave. I offered to pay for what we had received minus the Satay Chicken, they apologised and wavered the bill. I do wish them luck with their venture, but I don’t plan to return in the near future.

All I want to do is tell you just how good this restaurant is. If it wasn’t for trip advisor and the systems they employ it would be far more informative Let’s just say if you are in doubt, don’t be, it is a wonderful authentic Thai experience, served with a smile and at a cost that will also please. Thanks Ladies, next time we stay in Tewkesbury, we will return!

We had a takeaway from Phanthong and had high hopes so we have mixed reviews on the food. In total we ordered: Chicken wings in Garlic Sauce Thai Spring Rolls Thai Fish cakes Beef Massaman Curry Beef Green Thai Curry Chicken Jungle Curry Drunken Noodles Chicken Pad Thai Firstly the flavours of the both noodle dishes and the Massaman and Jungle curries were very nice indeed, However there was very little chicken in the jungle curry and the massaman was worse being mostly large lumps of potato and very minimal beef. The Green curry was bland and tasteless, The starters were poor in general the thai fish cakes look like they have come out of a supermarket frozen bag and were oily and unpleasant. Spring rolls were average. The drunken noodles were spicy and very nice as was the pad thai. In general for a takeaway that cost on par the same as an indian takeaway we use from Upton, i wouldnt purchase again until the meat content was increased if your paying 9.50 for a beef curry you expect to see some beef likewise for the chicken curry. The portion sizes were absolutely for one person, you couldnt share.

Have waited a long time for a Thai restaurant to open in Tewkesbury- and was not disappointed. It’s small and friendly; the food freshly prepared and full of flavour. We had three different starters and mains and all were very good. My green curry had a lovely afterglow but the spices didn’t drown out the vegetables and chicken. Portions were generous and it was very good value. They are still waiting for their drinks licence so have a small corkage charge. A variety of soft drinks are available. Chef came out for a chat and is trying to deliver an authentic taste of Thailand. I think she is succeeding and we wish them all the best - we certainly look forward to another visit.

Fantastic food; warm, friendly service and good value (helped by the lack of licence which means that you can buy booze from the nearby convenience store and pay a small corkage charge). One of the tastiest (and cheapest!) Thai meals we've ever had. Tewkesbury has been crying out for a Thai restaurant for years and it was worth the wait!

What a lovely place. Tastefully decorated, good choice on the menu and very well priced. We had the satay for starter, which was very tasty and green/massiman curry for main - generous portions, hot, fresh and lovely! Service was spot on and it was a nice touch for the chef to come and ask if everything was ok. So happy this independent restaurant has opened in Tewkesbury!

So ordinary at face value and yet so dirty it makes this place truly remarkable for all the wrong reasons. Soggy chips, cold peas to go with a perfectly nice piece of fish. Nothing is quite right. Tatty, not in a shabby chic way, just tatty. Avoid.
