Pete's Cafe the hidden gem in covent garden. Tucked in a corner in the old market is what can only be described as an old style market cafe, a bit rough around the edges, not posh or up someone elses market. We were lucky enough to get a seat, there are not many. We had the most wonderful welcome and provide with a menu filled with good home cooked meals and snacks at very good prices for the location. This is a slice of real London fair. No pomp. You want a tea, you get a mug of good English tea. We chose a bacon and sausage baguette and a jacket potatoes with chilli and I have to say it was very good plain and simple food presented with old market charm. If you want a good London fry up its there. Basic working man's nosh. Great staff great food , great prices. No pomp.

Enjoyed this cafe we stumbled upon. Such fun people and service is amazing. They make everyone feel right at home. Clean with lots of reasonably priced options. I had the fish and chips and we shared a slice of the rich chocolate cake! Would recommend. Right inside the market. So, shopping and food! Win, win!

Small cafe serving freshly cooked food & drinks . Anything from a full English Breakfast . deserts soft drinks. and variation of hot drinks. Friendly staff .good size meals freshly cooked for you most meals come with hot drink from just £6 Pasty chips and tea or coffee ( latte included) soft drinks also available. This small cafe sits just inside the market . only downfall is seating is limited. but worth waiting for a table if you want food that tastes good and fresh and of course as said before seen scribbling priced

My boyfriend and I spent 4 days in London and this place became our breakfast place of choice. It's a busy little spot with only a few tables. The food is really good: my boyfriend ate the full English breakfast which was tasty and substantial. I had the bacon and egg muffin and the coffee is really good. You get table service which is fast and friendly, or they do take-out. They have lunch items in the bakery display cabinet - lasagne and such - which look delish. One down side is the bathroom is not the cleanest, but the prices are VERY reasonable and it has a real local vibe to it. I would stay in this area of London again and eat breakfast at this place every day.

... this is an authentic 'greasy spoon' for all the right reasons...and it won't be there forever .... I had a bacon roll that was generous on bacon and the roll was really fresh and it hit the spot; you can't ask for more. It opens only til 2pm - I didn't taste the lasagne but it looked smashing waiting to be cooked. He has rock cakes .... not those silly cupcakes. All looked home-made. It just has 'presence' and atmosphere ... it's only for the really posh (so well bred they don't need to display it) and locals and workers. What's more it doesn't look like a designer's living room shop window - it has photos of boxers, and racing horses; 'silly sayings' and lots of interior character. Support local cafes and leave chain cafes to the corporates.

The filled baguettes are nice however the service is mediocre. I have visited three times and its hard to know where to stand once you have ordered, should I pay next or wait etc. I will never come during a lunch time again. The staff seem a bit lack lustre as well and watch you like a hawk.
