Pepe's in Coventry

Such a shame to see this Pepe's is going downhill pretty rapidly! Never really had issues with the food but the staff behind the counter are not so pleasant - very arrogant with minimal customer service skills - i'm guessing they are purely working to earn money and don't really care about the customers any longer... Doesn't seem to be any management available either... So be aware - expect a below par customer service level at counter otherwise you will be very disappointed!!!

Ordered mango chicken which is sweet and mild to get home and find everything if covered I'm hot piri piri the store was soon as I left so I can't even get it replaced also payed for 4 sauces that I wasn't given

Oh no! That’s so frustrating — especially when you’re just trying to enjoy a meal or a drink. It’s one thing for a place to go digital with their menu, but another for the staff to be rude about it. And staff are using headphones 🎧 omg 😦

Ordered chicken & rice boxes yesterday and me and my wife we wasn’t sure about that smell coming out of the box ( previously never had a problem ) few minutes after we finished our meals we both got horrible cramps and stomach bug . I will never ever go there again . Also whats the point to take cash only for collection when you guys got a card payment available ?

Never go here as it is cash and the food is terrible and rude staff very disrespectful they not bothered about helping customers

Placed an order by telephone and was told cash on collection, which is usually fine as they have a cash machine near by, but they were both broken so I apologised and asked if I could pay by card as they had card facilities and was told cash only. I was told there was a cash machine up the street so I walked to the end of the road and no other cash machines but managed to get cash back from a supermarket . Went back in store and a couple of girls had the same issue and for them they took a card payment. I spent just under £40 on my order and was late getting back to work because they would not take payment by card. When I complained they just fobbed me off and wasted 30mins of my time looking for cash, my food was cold when I managed to get home, I will not be ordering from here again there are a a lot of other food places that offer better customer service. Over priced, terrible customer service.

The first picture loaded fries is from pepe’s at far gosford street and the other picture of loaded fries is the one from trinity street. Look at the difference. Its always like this. I come to far gosford sometimes because its closer but they always disappoint. Such a big difference on how every item is prepared. Honestly disappointed.

Avoid like the plague. Ordered chicken XL burger and the chicken filet looked like a piece of paper. Better off going to Rios on Foleshill road they’re 100x better

Everything ok except collection order if you order online for collection the staff said to bring cash they don't accept card on collection which doesn't make sense if you come in to Resturant to order they take more time to make order.

Always yummy fried chicken, more tasty and fresher than KFC and Chicken Cottage. Perfect takeaway, not a jubilant atmosphere but friendly staff.

These is this one Indian worker that each time I come she has a face on. She always gets the order wrong and when it comes to correcting her she just seems to give loads off attitude. Today I ordered on the phone I said quite clearly I wanted both meals large. When I come to collect it, only one meal the fajita meal was made large and when I come to correct her she goes no no you didn’t say no in a rude manner. When I said okay can you change it now and charge me for how much it is, she took me to the till and when I handed the money to her she slammed the till shut. Also I paid for 5 Garlic mayo’s extra which Pepe’s does not give you free, when I looked through the bag and noticed she had put 4 there I corrected her again and she slammed the tub onto the counter. This lady is really rude each time I come in she ruins the experience. I come in On Thursday 31st October at around half 3 this is not a fake review. Get rid of the rude lady or retrain her.

In the last month, myself and my husband have ordered from here twice and both times we have requested for Go Large meals which means they are supposed to give you the drinks in the big, red cups instead of cans. And on both occasions, the same lady tried to give us cans instead of the large, red cups. On the first occasion, when she tried to give the cans to my husband and he told he he ordered Go Large meals, she said “I thought you would’ve preferred cans since you were taking away” And then on the second occasion, when she tried to give cans and I told her that she was supposed to give it in the large cups, she said “oh it won’t taste nice in there”. Funnily enough, the drinks tasted as delicious as always. I don’t know if it’s just her or the shop themselves that are trying to scam customers who pay extra to get the large option but try to give them cans instead but this is very bad. Unfortunately I don’t know her name so I cannot complain about her specifically but if it happens again, I will report her.

Mate has been raving about this place so of course I had to try We came in and the place was quiet no one was in there Three staff. One behind the till and two in the kitchen. Looked all clean. Floors and tables looked clean too We all ordered our meals and sat down to eat in I don’t like when places charge for sauces. 50p I think was kinda steep, you do get a free sauce with the meal but only one I had the primo chicken wasn’t overall impressed .. now the chicken was decent nice size, tasty and marinated well but the bun it was in was cold and wet. The mayo was runny and dripping out of the bun …. Even the garlic mayo sauce. Which had no garlic in so was just mayo was very runny The fries had a kick to them. I didn’t mind. It had lots of flavour peri peri on them too Not much of a selection of drinks but mine tasted fine and also had no ice? Wasn’t even offered and it was hella hot outside If the burger bun was warm and wasn’t dripping or cold there would of been an extra star It’s ok for the money but there are lots of better and cheaper places a few mins walk up the road Bit of work needed guys

Stupid policy staff said only take cash for over the call orders, meanwhile for paying thru card need to go inside the pepes and place order there and wait 15 mins. Person answer the call confirm with manager too.

Worst experience of my life. It was not my first time visiting pepe's. I ordered paneer rice as a meal and they said takeaway orders only. I took my takeaway order and reached home just to see that they have given me chicken rice. I AM VEGAN and on top of that it is a cultural thing for me. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER, NEVER VISITING AGAIN. HOWEVER, will be coming tomorrow to discuss the same with the manager as they are closed right now.

This pepes is going downhill, it has been for a while. Today i asked how much for a 5 strip meal, she rolled her eyes and suggested i work it out myself, £2.30 + standard item price. Firstly, i should not be expected to have to stand and calculate the price as your member of staff suggested, secondly shrugging it off to your colleagues after suggests you actually don’t care and are only there for the money. Thanks for many years of good service however today was the last, working in hospitality for years i know the score when it comes to customer service, hence my frustration as i left the store without ordering anything.

I used to enjoy being a frequent and satisfied customer at Pepe's. However, I was disappointed during my last visit when they refused to give me an extra garlic mayo dip and asked for an extra 50p, especially since they readily provided two extra dips to another customer standing right next to me. While the cost is obviously trivial, the apparent unequal treatment was quite upsetting. I have always been a fan of their food, but this recent experience with the staff's behavior has completely put me off, and I no more feel like visiting again. This is how bad customer service has the potential to ruin a business!

Are you rationing your fries or something? I just ordered a rice box meal and asked for peri peri fries. However, I received a very small portion, it's regular fries but it's not even enough for a small child. I've noticed this happening repeatedly over the past few months – do you think we don't notice? It's really annoying, I must say. This is the only Pepe's that's stingy with its portions and sauces; having to pay an extra 30p is ridiculous. Also, it takes forever to get the food.

Giving 2 stars is me being generous, they don’t know what “Mild” means we ordered overpriced Chic n rice in mild it was super hot, and I eat spicy all the time but this one was way too much to handle, I told the lady at the front and all she said “yeah I know” I had to order something else and left the rice. The staff is lost, have no clue what customer service is, not recommended.

What can I say about this place other than they need to learn proper etiquette. We arrived well before the closing time of this debacle they call a fast food joint and what happened we were duly told before we'd even placed the order to finish our food before 11pm or get out. The other option to do a take out even though there were other patrons in the store eating away and were unlikely to finish within the time allotted. What service do they call this? We were eager customers and now they've lost 2 good paying customers due to their ineptitude or their prejudices. The 2 female staff in front treated us exceedingly poorly and other customers were wondering what was going on Avoid this 2 bit outfit they might have nice food but with their poor attitudes why would you frequent such a place. Avoid

Been to pepes up n down the country and this has got to be the worst. The chicken is sauce less every single time. Charge nearly a £1 for extra sauce, which it only take to the normal amount you'd get at a proper store. Service is dead and atmosphere is like a morgue. Very poorly run.

Why is the costumers toilet always out of order it’s been like that for over two months but the thing is the workers can use it but not a mother with a child

I love pepes because of the spice, but everytime i order extreme hot from here its so disappointing cause its not spicy. Today i told the salesman a few time to make it extra spicy but once again it was just disappointing..dont think ill be coming back

Asked for pepsi max was given some kind of tasteless soda water, only realised this when I got home, live 15 mins away, felt inconvenienced. Rice was a little burnt, staff seemed not to know menu very well, felt a bit misdirected, poor communication from staff, they seemed to lack interest. Hoping the owner can read this and address the issues and improve service. Won't be running back there any time soon.

The portion size of Chicken and rice has drastically decreased to the point where for 7.29 it's not enough for even a single person. Not worth the price anymore.

Tried Veggie burger meal and it’s a joke. They just stuffed veggie pattie in cold buns and no veggies. Only thing that was good “piri piri fries”.

Delicious food. Friendly staff. Toilets are available. Parking is an issue always on gosford street.

Food and service was good. I had burger and fries but they need to provide more Ketchup. Overall a good experience.

The food was great as always, the place and tables were kept clean. The only thing I would like to suggest is if they can keep the place open up till midnight.

Ordered chicken burger and it wasn’t cooked properly the color of the blood was absolutely clear but the manger didn’t accept it, the floor is too dirty. , some of the staff uniforms too dirty and none of the staff wearing gloves so disgusting

This is my usual choice for a takeaway, love the flavours here, staff always polite, place is always clean and food made fresh to order (from my exp) Just a shame its so frikin expensive and wats with the one dip per customer rule!? (This took 1 star off)

Not comparriable to any other pepe' s outlets for a number of factors as also reflected in many other reviews below. Chose to visit here as it has some parking close by rather then the city centre branch. No warm welcome or friendly service with a smile here from any of the staff. Mixed up the drinks requested from the order to the actual ones given, When asked to replace the drinks it was too much to ask for and found it difficult to understand the request. Ordered a extra hot piri piri burger and got one without flavour. Will not be visiting here again and use the city centre branch instead. Remember the customers are the ones paying for a service and they should receive it. Dont forget Without them you would not be in business.

This place has been one of my favorites spots for quick bites. I am in love with the way they serve food. The dine in is very well organised and its so spacious inside.Food is outstanding always. Especially when you visit there don't miss spicy chilli sauce. It has a very unique taste which I found no where. It is located at two places one near city center Coventry and the other on the way to Coventry. Taste is good at both places but infrastructure is good at the later one.

Ordered today spicy wings, how small they are!!! It’s ridiculous, I would like to see what kind of chicken you used, must be a baby chicken .Very disappointing,prices are high but portions “like for a 2years old child!!!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! This is by far the worst pepes I’ve been to - I’ve been to many in various cities. The manager has the WORST customer service and attitude. The service is below standard . The Manager was passive aggressive and made me feel uncomfortable to eat there. Never again! 👎

The day was the 21st of March 2022 and I had gone with my family to eat out at PEPE’s due to the fact that we enjoy their food however this occasion has left me speechless and gobsmacked as the treatment me and family had received was absolutely shocking and horrific. When me and family go to any Pepes restaurant/establishments and when we order our meals we are always provided with 2 sauces however when a family member had enquired a representative who is said to be the manager and goes by name of Akhtar (Bald man with a fake beard ) had shown quite disgusting behaviour as when he was asked why he cannot provide us with two sauces he had said replied back that is the policy and you have had your say be quite. Whilst we was eating another customer had confronted the same individual as they were not provided with the sauces for the meal the female customer had said that her daughter does not eat her meal without sauces to which the Representative akhtar replied he had served the husband and said the husband had given it back why would a customer do that if they know that their daughter won’t have it so he had fobbed the female customer off by providing her with 5 sauces and had said that he will give her a discount next time she ordered 3 meal and gets five quite appalling. Another incident had happened as they had gotten another customers order wrong and when confronted he had said they won’t charge her ,how is that fair I am a paying customer me and my family had spent 40 pounds and all we got was 4 sauces whereas others are told they won’t be charged and will get discount and not pay for their order really quite shocking. Finally when we had finished our meal and we were leaving my spouse had inquired the most senior staff member in order to provide feedback about the behaviour and treatment we had received to which we was introduced to the Bald MR Akhtar and he had communicated with the most shocking tone and the sarcasm he used was showing the he was not bothered with customer feedback. We had all regretted going to that franchise and wished we went to the one on trinity street and to be honest all franchise treat us professional and are quite approaching as well. Please have this looked into

Appalling customer service. The “one dip only policy” can be explained in a civil, adult manner but the manager was utterly rude and had the WORST attitude. He was passive aggressive and put me off my food. I’ve never experienced this in any other franchise of Pepes. He “Akhthar” (the bald manager with the glasses) is the most rude “manager” I have ever come across. He needs re-training. AVOID this branch at all costs! Go to trinity street pepes instead!!

Absolutely ridiculous staff rude and arrogant never usually leave a review and feel bad writing this but it has to be done! Staff & the bold manager need training with customer service skills travelled over an hr to get to this Pepes should have used the one in town on Trinity Street

Enjoyed first visit, and everyone appeared to throw their rubbish away.

Very rude staff. Asked for Chicken XL burger, lemon and herb, on it's own. No lemon & herb seasoning on it what so ever and no tomato. Just tasted like a plain chicken breast in a bun with a small amount of lettuce. Best to avoid this place. Loads of fake reviews for this place too.

Love pepes chicken generally. First time visiting this particular restaurant though. Staff member quite rude...shaking head when partner changed order from burger to meal. Not listening when I had said meal for mine and asking me again....robot repeating script and not liking it when humans take time to decide or change their mind!

I have used this outlet few times before, noticed food standard has dropped. Staff behaviour is very aggressive over a simple question when I was asked for extra money for sauce, which I paid and asked the staff this is something new and I was never asked before to pay for sauce. Simple conversation between 2 adults and staff suddenly got very aggressive even when I paid for the extra sauce, despite me saying just forget all about it and stop talking the way you are doing. But he still continued to talk and other staff joined in with him to pick up a fight. They were lucky I was in a hurry so defused the situation and left. Never going back there again and many of my friends and family will never use this pepes again. Absolutely disgusting people and poor hygiene.

It's unhygenic the staff used bare hands no gloves on to take meat the new staff are not clean as watching the person did not care even if told about the unhygenic it was ignored. The flavours are quite good with hot being actually hot and spicy. The place is quite clean and well maintained. Would recommend.

Taste of food excellent. Customer service is excellent the only thing they drop is their standard. Some times chicken and rice have no sauce in it which makes an expensive fast food meal completely unbeatable. Other wise when its good 80 percent of the time it really good.

Real yummy cooked Chicken with the right temp and tasted great never disappointed the staff are real good a always efficient excellent customer service and good menu prices
