As a paying visitor, me and my friends were disrespected and humiliated in front of other paying visitors. Dave Jones the captain came over to us and started questioning our clothes even though I have had no issues at every other golf club in Swansea. Also, there were people dressed in clothes a lot worse than ours but he did not bat an eye lid just because we were juniors. I was considering getting a membership but after the disrespect I received I will not be returning to this golf club.

This idiosyncratic course is not for an older 19 handicapper. First of all the buggies were in quite poor condition (despite £40 charge), the signage, tee markers are poor and given the course has a lot of blind, long carries navigation can be an issue. There are few proper buggy paths so driving across side slopes seemed quite frightening. The greens which were very good are protected by electrified cattle fences and we encountered a herd of cows, who seem to “open graze” the course, on the third hole. Frankly playing the course was a struggle and not worth the high green fee despite the lovely views.

Just got back from playing two rounds at Pennard. What a place. Weather, course, conditions and views were all stunning. Staff and all members were super friendly. I wanted to write a review to say thanks to the members in the bar who kindly helped me look for an iPhone charger so I could access my car, and to the lady who went home to get one for me. Stars. I will be returning to play the course again. Thanks

Enjoyed playing here a couple of weeks ago but frustrated to get a fine through the letter box today for parking in the car park. No one from the club explained that even as a paying customer that I had to validate my car, £60 fine. Not classy.

one of the absolute highlights of our current vacation with regard to golf. From the friendly head pro who served us in the pro shop to the course design and course maintenance, I can't really think of anything that bothered us. Fortunately, we brought some good golf, which is definitely an advantage on this course. The course didn't seem extremely difficult to me - in contrast to Tenby - but we rarely strayed off the fairway. For me an absolute must if you play golf in South Wales

Wow! Certainly, worthy of its 5-star reviews. We came across this by accident when we were returning from a coastal walk, and it smelt amazing so decided to order. There was 1 hours wait, so we went to the local pub (see other review). Menu is extensive, and best to view online as there is more choice than if you order on site, but for me the fact they could do a gluten free base was key. It turned out the be the best gluten free base I have ever had. All three of our pizzas were excellent, cooked perfectly and all ingredients tasted fresh. The guy serving, although obviously busy was genuinely nice and clearly passionate about the local area which was lovely. Tip would be to order as they do have limited slots, so they don’t overstretch themselves and end up serving inferior food.

Just had our first visit to the club, but definitely not our last. Spacious lounge with exceptional views. Wide choice on the menu. The four of us had piping hot home made soup and chicken dijons to start, absolutely delicious. Two had steaks, I had an excellent beef lasagna and my sister had ham and two eggs with great chips. Our waiter was a delightful young man, who gave us superb service. My husband saw their breakfast menu and can't wait to get back there. Thank you for a smashing lunch.

Recently played on an extremely windy and rainy day. Even the members took a pass that day, as there were only one or two other groups on the course. The course itself is absolutely stunning. Gorgeous views, fabulous links terrain. I have played several mediocre courses with fabulous views, but I can tell you Pennard is not a mediocre course. So many interesting and challenging holes. The 7th hole with its view of the castle is so fun. Making par on the 13th, a long par three playing into a very strong wind, well that was one of the best pars of my life. Step behind the 16th green and the view is just jaw dropping beautiful. I still do not know where my ball ended up after the drive on 14, but that is the story of links golf. I could play this course every day and never be bored. If you are a golfer that enjoys the challenges of links golf, come here and play. You will not regret it. And a shout out to the members and the dining staff. Friendly folks and good food. We enjoyed our visit very much.

We played in the Club's Open mixed greensomes. Unfortunately, we followed by a group of four members (one of whom is apparently a senior committee member) who totally spoilt our day. They accused us of holding up the course: we didn't. We were regularly waiting for the group in front (or walkers) to clear and certainly never fell a hole behind. Nevetheless, we invited them to play through, which they declined. Twice they hit balls past us. On the 12th they drove the greenside bunker whilst we were still playing up to the green. After firm words were spoken, they backed off and eventually went in. For the record, we had to wait on the 18th tee for several minutes and finished immediately behind the group in front. I reported the matter to the club manager at the end who, in fairness, said he would take the matter up. And again in fairness, I played in another open competition earlier in the week with two club members, who were great company. Nevertheless, it spoit out day. And no, we're not rubbish golfers, both our pairs got 38 points and one of the group got a hole in one! As for the course, it is a traditional links style course and a real test of golf. The greens are in top condition and the views are stunning. Downsides are very poor course signage, cattle, electic wires around the green, hundreds of dangerous rabbit holes and very busy and noisy public rights of way accross and around the course. The clubhouse is great, the food very good and all of the staff very friendly and helpful. Just a shame about a couple of selfish members.

For an oldie the course is brutal. A fantastic traditional links course. Many holes where you stand on the tee and wonder which direction you need to play. Lots of manufactured shots which were often blind. Suggest arranging to play with a member as playing for the first time could be a very difficult round. The views are fantastic and the club house and pro shop are very friendly and welcoming. I played in a senior open off 16. A poor showing of 26pts and 24+ hrs to recover, but loved every minute. I return in a few months to pick up the challenge again. If you give up on the golf, the Gower coast is a wonder so stay over.

New to the Gower, we thought we should sample a range of the restaurants available; and so we did. P&H and LB were both good in their way, but it was Pobbles that got our vote for a second visit. We were not disappointed. The restaurant is on the first floor and provides a panoramic view over the course and down to Pennard Castle. The staff, on both nights, were friendly and helpful; nothing was too much trouble. All four starters and all four mains were generous and tasty, with special mentions for the Chicken Napoleon, Chilli Con Carne and Minted Lamb. The starters were good too, particularly the pâté and the fish cake. Combined with the value for money, you couldn’t ask for more. Everything was delivered with a smile, and genuine warmth; everyone is made to feel at home. It was very relaxing and informal. After a long day’s walking, that was just the ticket. Thanks to everyone at Pobbles for helping to make our lovely stay even better!

We were lucky enough for them to let us eat a takeaway in there as the restaurant we planned to go to had double booked which was very kind of them. We had a great night and was so privileged to hear Hermione the bar manager sing in a cappella an Irish folk tune. Wow we couldn't hear a pin drop when she sang. It literally took my breath away. I have waited several weeks before writing this. I rarely post negative reviews, particularly not for small independent venues. But the price of 2 pieces of cheese on toast costing £10.95 is still irritating me. I didn’t look at the bill until sitting back down and my bank account flashed up the amount. I went back to the counter and asked if this was correct. Then to add insult to injury, we had nearly finished our coffees and my wife went to the counter to check where the cheese on toast was. No apology from the staff, and they said it was waiting in the kitchen as they couldn’t remember what table ordered it. You would expect sour dough bread or some, artisan crafted speciality bread and a fine local Welsh mature cheddar for this price. What we received was big standard supermarket sliced brown bread and a meagre layer of big standard supermarket cheese, that barely covered the cardboard toast. It was now barely tepid and ranks as the worst and most expensive cheese on toast we have ever had. Our cake was good but I overpriced, and the coffee was OK, but no where near as good as numerous other coffee shops in Swansea. Positives are: venue is nice and clean, staff friendly but somewhat dopey. It’s a shame they demolished my old school Ty-Coch. I am sure the catering ladies would have done a better job
