Penn Tandoori in Wolverhampton

As usual the food was fantastic, however, I can't say the same for the service. We had booked a table but in arrival we were left standing by the entrance. We were show to our table but in this occasion nobody took our coats. We ordered our drinks and meals which was lovely. Once our plates were removed we weren't offered dessert or coffee which left me feeling a little bit like they wanted us to leave... so we did!

Absolutely amazing valentines meal. Great service, great food, great atmosphere .... homemade pudding was out of this world, the guys misses needs a medal for this recipe, totally on another level. Best meal we've had for ages. Top marks

Exceptional food and service here. The quality of ingredients used doesn’t go unnoticed. Parking at the rear is a little bit tight, but for the location it’s pretty adequate. The interior is modern, clean and spacious. A number of booths and bigger tables are available, so great for gatherings. Or you can sit at the rear if you’re looking for something a little more private. Highly recommend.

Absolutely disgusting behaviour at Penn Tandoori. Threw someone out because they have a guide dog. Really hope this place gets shut down. And instead of reaching out to the woman to apologise instead they just block comments on Facebook because or the bad press they have gotten. Next time think for you discriminate against the visual impaired.

Ordered from here the food was highly priced for the quantities we got. In regards to taste was very salty. Wouldn't recommend me or order from there again

Booked for a work leaving meal but got asked to leave and refused service as one of the party had a guide dog as they are blind. Even after explaining about guide dog shocking service, the way the manager spoke to the party was horrendous, would not recommend and will not be eating here again.

Refused a guide dog entry even after being warned there would be one present, illegal and disgraceful behaviour. Will not be attending again and will be advising everyone I know the same.

Appalling treatment that despite booking a table and advising our colleague had a guide dog being shown the table then asked them to leave because of the guide dog. Not wanting to allow a guide dog in is illegal. You have decided that your not allowing people with disabilities into your restaurant Cutting out a huge proportion of your community. We’ve all been blocked after commenting on social media. Hope the celebrities you are keen to welcome don’t have any disabilities or they’ll be refused service too. This was not a pet. This was a fully trained Guide Dog and you have been reported. Utterly disgraceful - Avoid at all costs!

Having then advised being asked to leave is illegal we asked to speak to the manager, the gentleman told us he is the manager! He then moved on to say Sallie can’t be in the carpet and we needed to move. Wtaf! Following a heated conversation including the fact he will be reported we walked out. The manager then had the nerve when walking back to the car to ask if he could have 1 more chance! REALLY! You HAVE been reported and you should be ashamed. On a business trip from Glasgow, this place was a recommend. Certainly did not disappoint! Food was amazing and service was a delight.

Second time that I have been here since new owners. I have to say that it was better than the first time I went and tasted more like the old food. Keep it up guys

Although ownership of very many years has changed, the food has not. We've eaten at the Penn Tandoori since it opened, decades ago and were worried about the change of ownership. Food is just as good and new staff are very freindly.

Excellent service and tasty food. Delighted that the chef could make a madras without onions to take into account my intolerance. Fabulous service, great food and a lovely, helpful and relaxed atmosphere. Served excellent food for a whole range of customers including scampi for restricted eaters. Thank you and well done to all the team. My best experience in an Indian restaurant for many years.

Extremely expensive for what we had. We had curry which didn't come with rice or naan bread. They need to know thier prices down by atleast 8-10 per head.

Visited here whilst staying in an hotel close by, the food was absolutely delicious both me and hubby were very satisfied the service was exceptional but it was early on a Monday evening so can’t really comment what Friday or Saturday maybe like. Will definitely visit again if in the area

What has happened to this place? Been going here for years and the food has always been consistently good! All new staff, cold food and the prices have sky rocketed!

OMG, what great food, we drive past this restaurant nearly everyday but never had anything from it, so we ordered a takeaway from here this week and last, the food is great yes it might be a little bit more expensive but the food is really worth it. Can't wait to try the dine in experience next.

Superb food whatever your taste

A great place to dine out, excellent service and atmosphere. Waiters were knowledgeable about different dishes which helps make the right choice. Give it a try and judge for yourselves.

We used to use this regularly. Didn't know it had changed hands but when we got our order instantly saw something was different. Colour, smell and general quality less. Less quality, more sauce less meat. Uniformed pieces suggest mass produced and not prepped. Smaller prawns, more filler. Totally disappointed. Time to find a new favourite.

Got a large mutton curry with rice and beans with some yam & dumping to try out and I'm blown away at just how nice it is came nice and hot ready to eat will 100% be getting more orders from us

Food very nice clean restaurant quick service shame I got pushed to the back of the place as I was on my own next to the kitchen area, car park at rear got very full and was blocked in for 10 mins when leaving very narrow drive into the car park. enjoyed the meal place was not very busy for a Friday evening

Ordered on Uber eats & the restaurant forgot one of the curries & then when we rang to see what they could do about it there response was nothing because we ordered through Uber, when they don’t take delivery orders over the phone anyway!!! Bit of a catch 22 if you ask me, very disappointed.

Food is fantastic here and always has been. Since it has been taken over the quality in service has suffered. This an edit a month after - The staff have just knocked a half pint of lager all over my mom. Seriously, your staff need training. You will lose customers.

Food, service and vibes are consistently great. Tried many places over the years, but Penn Tandoori is simply the best, in a league on it’s own. Great value, food and service every single time! The new manager was very welcoming, professional and customer oriented, made our visit memorable.

Such a shame we were disappointed because we had some very special family guests over from NZ. Due to proximity and it’s reputation as being (4/5 on trip advisor), we collected a takeaway for 4 people. We decided to share 3 curries. One chicken tikka mosala, one lamb vindaloo and one chicken pathia. I cannot say I was impressed by any of them. The mosala contained so much food colouring, it was bright tomato red (without there being any tomatoes in it). The pathia was like eating jam and contained so much corn starch it was just clag in the mouth and the vindaloo mainly contained gristle 🤢. Popadoms were also disappointing as they were served with onions and two small pots of sweetened yoghurt. No pickle, no chutney, a very poor show. Suffice to say, we won’t be using them again. A waste of money.

Such an unassuming and unexpected location. But inside the decor is stunning and modern and absolutely spotless. Great and friendly service. The variety and quality of food was fantastic. It was suggested by the waiter to try their speciality as I didn't know what to choose. My wife did the same but a chicken version as mine was a hotter lamb. My goodness! Great place to eat a curry. Staff is friendly, welcoming and attentive. Food was good quality, but a bit pricey. Four stars due to the possibility of getting a bit noisy in there sometimes.

I’ve visited here many times. I visited Friday evening 6.30. Food excellent as always but for the first time ever, I felt that I was being rushed. I was asked twice during my starter if I was ready for my main course even though I obviously had a mouthful of food and food on my plate. Staff were very polite but too keen Please be more patient in future. I will visit again but please do not let this be a normal occurrence or you will definitely lose a valued customer.

After wanting to visit the restaurant for some time, we booked a table for myself my husband and our son for a Saturday evening meal. All I can say the whole experience was totally disappointing from service but especially the food. The tikka chicken masala tasted like a whole pot of sugar had been thrown in there and the chicken was tough. The salmon must have been left under the grill and was extremely dry. Very overpriced for the standard of food being served - needless to say we won’t be visiting again. I won’t be recommending this restaurant in the future, there are far better places to spend your money.

Having visited Penn Tandoori with my family for a number of years, it’s a shame but it looks like MAYBE the rumours are true. The service tonight was shockingly bad. Firstly we were made to wait 10-15 minutes for our table, despite booking. A few new faces (perhaps the rumoured new owners) seemed to be out of their depth, staff were running around like crazy. So much for fine dining. We waited another 15 mins for our drinks to be ordered, only to arrive in soaking wet glasses. My partner was not impressed. Although the food was good, but not like before. Perhaps a one off bad night… will give them the benefit of the doubt and maybe return in the near distant future if the new custodians pull their socks up and have some manners. A far cry from the days of Mr Uddin & his two sons.

Unfortunately we didn't have a great night here. From the time we sat down all seemed very rushed, as if they wanted our table for diners coming in later. I doubt it as it was quiet on our Friday night visit, I guess down to the England v USA game. Despite a lobby with a heater, our seats near the door caught a cold draught from being left open. We did ask if they could just push it to but it was soon open again. Even with fewer people than usual it was quite noisy, made worse by competition from their rather unpleasant music. We shared an onion bhaji starter which was very enjoyable, and well presented. All was set fair for the mains but surprisingly these were a disappointment. They also arrived a bit too soon despite us asking for a short break. The wife's dish was far too oily and thin in taste as a result. My pathia was OK, excellent chicken tikka but not quite hot enough for my taste. The sides were fine but nothing more than your usual. We didn't bother with desserts. It relatively expensive place, some of the special dishes costing as much as those in more "finer" establishments. I know they can do better but sadly it didn't happen for us on the night.

Pen Tandoori looked after our party of ten perfectly they accepted a late change to the booking with no fuss at all The food was very good and the service excellent. We all had a great time
