Although it says "dogs welcome" they are only allowed in the private room or outside. While drinks are served outside, they do not serve food outside except for ice cream from the hut. Prawns on a Mediterranean salad were very wet.

We had a great experience since the new management have taken over. The food and service was amazing from start to finish. The whole experience was so enjoyable compared to previous times we came to visit. Highly recommend!

Whilst this place should be great it is still very hit and miss. I’ve ordered the same things a number of times before and each time something is just a bit different and not always good. Execution is just a bit off which is a shame as the place is so nice. If you serve toast, bring butter with it. Both times I’ve had to ask and I’m repeatedly told we don’t give it as a given. Why? I’ve never eaten dry toast before it’s all a bit odd!! I also hate the added VAT on your bill which makes a small simple meal very very expensive. I’ve not experienced poor service as a lot of reviews allude to but service and high prices are quite clearly a problem if they want to make the restaurant a success.

Been for a ramble with friends stopped there for coffee at the end. Went into the cafe .. to get told to go to the kiosk .. by a very aggressive lady …which we did to find the kiosk not open !!! Surly she should have known this Went back into the restaurant to be told to go to kiosk yet again .. said it’s not open … to get a shoulder shrug from her …. Doubt very much I’ll ever go there again or recommend to friends

Utter chaos. Easter Sunday. Shouldn't be a big surprise it's busy. Staff your kitchen and floor accordingly. Staff are pleasant but ineffective. People waiting over an hour for starters and mains coming out cold or incorrect. When challenged about poor service, rather than apologising, staff getting almost aggressive and saying how busy it is. Quite frankly, that's not your customers problem. That's yours. Nearly £30 for two course Sunday lunch. Expensive for outside of London. Spend your money elsewhere. There is so much better locally... .including Wetherspoons

Great local spot for breakfast. Full English with quality ingredients, fat sausages, eggs poached perfectly. Pancake and bacon dish enough for 2 kids. Nice atmospheres and a farm shop under the same roof. Will be back.

We visited first in November during the fireworks event and had a lovely meal. My husband turned 40 yesterday and we wanted to book somewhere that had a menu which would please a large group including children. Penelope’s was one of our options but we were a little put off by the 3.5 stars on TripAdvisor. We decided to book anyway since it was convenient and we’d also had a good experience last time. We weren’t disappointed. Some of the more negative reviews cited inattentive service, but Michaela, our waitress, was beyond lovely and really went out of her way to make sure we were happy. Absolutely outstanding service. And actually, the waitress in November had been good too. The food was great and they make the pizzas from scratch in front of you (I particularly recommend the Amore Mio!). When we originally found out that Kelsey’s Farm was being bought out by Beck Evan’s, we were disappointed - the site had many happy memories attached to it under its former owner. But, they’ve not really got rid of anything and have instead just made improvements to what was there. The restaurant is better, there’s more going on, the soft play is cleaner. Will definitely be back!

I had never been here before today, we originally came for the soft play but had lunch in Penelope's and was pleasantly surprised. It's a very spacious and modern restaurant and farm shop with a lovely outside space. The best thing is, it's next door to the soft play but offers so much more than the usual nuggets, burger and chips. We had a massive roast dinner and the chocolate cake was one of the best I've had. I would come back even without visiting the soft play, I really was surprised by how nice it is.

Another great lunch at Penelope’s today. The perfect place to relax after a long walk around Five Arches with my friend, her lovely dog and my two grandchildren. A really welcoming atmosphere and great food too served by lovely, smiley staff. It’s great that there is such a lovely place to visit where your dog is welcomed (water provided)! This is becoming our definite place to go when we visit Five Arches! We will be back for sure!

After initially giving Penelope’s glowing reports when it first opened, sad to say it has really gone downhill. Cinnamon brioche was burnt, tasted of egg and as though it had been fried in a pan that had been used to cook meat. It was oozing oil. It was replaced with pancakes that were just average. The smoked salmon breakfast had smashed avocado that was bizarrely covered in oil, and the spinach was just a slimy wet mush. However, on arrival, had specifically checked with staff that the kitchen did not use anything that contained rapeseed oil due to severe Intolerance. Unfortunately, was extremely unwell after eating the breakfast. Unable to reach the restaurant by phone and politely emailed to express concern – the email has been ignored.

This has been my local kebab shop for years. The kebabs are always decent here and taste great. The staff are very friendly too, highly recommend

We spotted this little gem from the bus and decided to give it a go. We went on a Monday night and there was a great discount on steaks. I think all of us bar one, had steak and they were cooked to pefection. I can't remember eating better steak. The service was attentive and friendly and the deserts too good to miss. At the end of the meal they offered us a liqueur on the house.
