Called in when on holiday with our dog. Was made really welcomed and food was excellent value and the pub had a great local feel. Locals gave the dog treats which she loved. Definitely go back

Fabulous little pub with a lot of character. The landlord is absolutely lovely, kind, fun and gave us a very nice welcome. We didn't eat, but the food looks good! Next door is the house where John Hughes, composer of Calon Lan was born. Local ales on offer 🍻 and lovely garden to sit in the sun, if you are blessed ☀️

Excellent place to eat very popular in the summer for eating out and very friendly, nice place for Xmas Dinner booking is advised.

Shame they had a power cut when we got there but eventually power was restored and meal was worth the extra wait.

Had a pork dinner, it was superb and then a piece of Ferrero rocher cake and icecream for afters.Worth every penny.YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPOINTED OWNER AND STAFF ,FIRST CLASS!!!!!

Great food, well kept bar with great ale and cider. Excellent service a bit sad this is not a local of mine. A hidden gem but highly recommended.

Great place to eat out near cardigan with good parking facilities. We had a main meal and dessert. Outstanding food, great service and a good choice of beer and cider. Highly recommend - Dessert is a MUST!!!

Poorly cooked food (mostly microwave cooked) I had curry with half chips, next to no meat and served with peas, sweetcorn, onion rings, mushrooms and more onion, with some extra onion added to replace the chicken! Family had sirloin steak but it was possibly boiled or microwaved then shown the grill served with the same sides as the curry. All pretty tasteless and expensive. Not going to be back - ever!

We enjoyed a good meal at the end of our holiday in this lovely part of Wales. The landlord is welcoming with a fun sense of humour, the beer is very good and the food was enjoyed by our party of 7. The menu is very broad and will cater for most tastes. Well done

Not many pubs like this left, nice genuine welcome from the Landlord. Good value home cooked food. Well kept beer. Worth a stop if you are passing like we were.

This pub is really nice with a seperate bar and dining room. The staff are nice and the menu is varied with vegetarian options. I have been here some years ago and in my opinion the food snot as good as it was but its all home cooked.They do Sunday roasts as well as cementing food. There is a car park across the road for the pub.

Came here for Sunday Lunch with my family. A nice quiet, traditional pub with friendly staff. Lovely freshly cooked food with decent sized portions and loads of veg. Amazing selection of desserts too. Worth every penny.

We where staying just down the road at Garth, we went here twice and could not fault the food, the service the landlady Jenny who was wonderful very lovely lady. Joined in our banter (mushrooms) Would recommend this place anytime if your in the area... 1st class 👏👏👏👏 There was 8 of us and food all came out at same time 👏 excellent service

Excellent place for a drink and evening meal, very friendly staff, prepared a takeaway for our daughter who chose not to go out for dinner. Very welcoming. Food was very enjoyable, lots of specials on the board.

I don't know why you are asking my opinion as I haven't been there in the last 10 years although, as it is on an A road I pass it 10 times a week. Sort your system out Google.

During a mid week break in December 2022, we visited this pub three times for an evening meal. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. The owner and staff were extremely pleasant and friendly and really made us feel welcome. As the weather was bitterly cold, we also loved the roaring open fire. We would highly recommend this pub. During a weeks holiday 7-14 October for six friends in the village of Pen y Bryn we visited this pub 3 times, once for a Sunday roast and twice for evening meals. The menu had a very good selection and the desserts were to die for. The staff were very friendly and the service was excellent every time, we would definitely recommend a visit here.

Been meaning to write this review for a while. We found this wonderful hearty pub on our way back from a carriage ride we did with Gentle Giants Shires, we said on our return sometime we would visit. We were not disappoint with our choice! Wonderful friendly place with honest food. Owners are friendly and very welcoming people, who you can have a laugh with. It's one of those places you will be happy to revisit, which is something me and the girls would love to do again! Thank you all for a fantastic time and meal. Excellent Sunday roast, simple and tasty, a very traditional British Sunday lunch. Service essential but friendly and attentive to the customer. Has been a very lovely lunch, spot on!

Really great, local pub. Very cosy and traditional - everything you could want in a countrt stop off. Extremely lovely locals, good prices and knowledgeable staff who helped tell us about things in the area. We enjoyed. A lovely meal on the Friday so much so we booked in for the Sunday on recommendation! The Sunday roast didn't disappoint and was like a true, at home roast. Thank you so much for putting up with our poorly doggy and serving us some good grub. We really hope to visit again!

Well what can I say, the landlord is a lovely guy and a bit of a joker, the food was great and we all left empty plates, forgot take pictures of the food. The prices are really good to we will be back on our next visit to the area. Big plus for us it dog friendly.

What a great find. Called in on the off chance of getting evening meal Easter sat. Walked in and was greeted by a young chap behind the bar who knew everyone. He was a right character and made everyone laugh. Specials on boards as well...

Good food, good company and even better value. What's not to like?

A pub that does traditional pub grub food very well. Nice fire in a cosy bar area with a separate restaurant area. Staff were welcoming too.

We called in here on the off-chance of being able to grab some bar food. We hadn't booked. The very friendly landlord said that wasn't a problem and led us around the cozy looking bar to a small restaurant. What a surprise. It too was very cozy, with maroon decor, and much to our approval, little scissors with which to open the sauce sachets... such a good idea. The menu was good, although the butcher hadn't delivered our first choice meat (surprisingly heartening to hear), we were more than happy with our second choice, which was filling and delicious. My pork loin was served with a cream sauce, onion rings, mushrooms and chips and also a small refreshing side salad. Of course, the downside of feeding us so well was that we couldn't manage a dessert. Our meals were reasonably priced. On leaving we saw that a group in the bar were enjoying a platter of sandwiches and sausage rolls, which all looked very tasty. In addition, we were satisfied that Covid secure practices were in place and as we made our way out to the car park decided this would be a good place to bring visitors for a lovely meal.

This place is a hidden gem! The staff made my wife and I and our two little dogs very welcome. The place was very pleasant and atmospheric, and it was lovely to hear the Welsh language being spoken. The food was great, not too fussy...

Everything was delicious, fresh and cooked to perfection. Had Sunday lunch ,excellent choice of meats. Great service and the coconut icecream just a must.Thank you

Stepping back into 1970's. Nice pub and staff, but food was very basic and what we had was over priced. I would stick to the cheaper options (like ham, egg and chips) that are a bargain.

Warm welcome, had the sirloin steak and pepper sauce. Was ok not worth £16 please make the pepper corn sauce instead of packet it really was like a school dinner sauce.

We ate here three times during the two weeks we stayed in Cilgerran and were not disappointed. A good selection on the menu and the Sunday roast was very good. The portions are Is such a good size we didn’t test the dessert menu. Hosts very good as were the staff. One thing is the fish tank in the bar which was far too small for the two large fish it housed. Overall a good place to eat.

Went here for an evening meal when on holiday in Cardigan. I used to come here as a kid and always wanted to return. It doesn't look that inviting from the outside, but the welcome you get from the Landlord when you step through the door is one you will never forget. He is wonderfully bonkers and very funny indeed.
