Leah was working at the time i was in the pen y bont, mint service, couldnt ask for anything better

I had the best lasagna ever and my husbands steak pie was excellent. We'll definitely be back when we are next in Abergele.

Called in here on holiday Had steak and steak and ale pie and chips. Very quiet as out of season but staff very friendly and food was good. Would recommend

We went on sat, previously visited over a year ago and the meal really good. On this visit, the atmosphere wasnt pleasant, primarily due to foul language from the bar. (I'm going to assume locals). If we had the grandchildren with us we would have left.The staff were friendly and welcoming, new in post. The menu was limited and uninspiring, the food was 'ok' certainly not fantastic. Sadly we wont be returning.

Went for the food and left with depression. Alarm bells should have gone off when the first conversation you hear is between the staff and a customer about the joys of being CS gassed. The guy who came to take our order seemed baffled that we wanted to order starters and mains but not have them come out together. His confusion could be explained by the fact he had worked 11 hours in his other job and wasn't supposed to be there. I'm not sure how I know he had worked 11 hours and wasn't supposed to be there, it might have something to do with the 15 times he mentioned it. The starters came and they were nice, but then it went downhill fast. We ordered crispy sea bass with new potatoes and a beurre blanc sauce, turns out they didn't have any beurre blanc, we were offered chasseur sauce but opted to have it dry, next we were informed the chef "didn't trust the new potatoes" so we opted for champ and then it was delivered and the bass was as crispy as jelly. Of the 3 elements of the dish we got 0. Did I mention the waiter/barman had worked 11 hours in his other job and shouldn't have been there. Meal 2, Bacon cheese burger with fries, the burger was good but the "Fries" were skin on chips, almost the size of wedges and barely cooked. Meal 3 "Steak Pie and chips with veg" This was delivered by the waiter/barman had worked 11 hours in his other job and shouldn't have been there. (Not sure if I mentioned that) The chips looked suspiciously like the fries from the burger meal. They were cooked the same too. The veg was some tenderstem broccoli, which I'm convinced the waiter/barman started cooking before he worked 11 hours in his other job, did you know he wasn't supposed to be there? The pie was unique, ⅔ of the steak was cooked just to the point of tender, you could call it tender adjacent. The other ⅓ was like chewing on a Wellington boot. It should have been put on to cook at the same time as the broccoli, by the waiter/barman had worked 11 hours in his other job and shouldn't have been there. Finally I don't think I've ever seen anyone mess up instant gravy, but I'm pretty sure they ration the granules and use the same amount of water.

Nice little pub with great beer garden. Didn't have food but probably will when we visit again, looked good and so did the prices.

We are at the Pen-y-bont Inn after visiting the castle at Abergele. The food was excellent (we had the cheese and onion pie and our daughter had a kids burger). Great service and dog-friendly too

Went for a private surprise party last night, staff great and very helpful especially when I went to set up the balloons for the party. Sat in beer garden before party with family, lovely atmosphere, definitely recommend going there. Allison, Floating Dreams Conwy

We stopped here by chance. After being stuck in a hot car with my 90 year old father in law and a sulky dog. We were made extremely welcome. We opted for the Sunday roast dinners and we weren't disappointed. The food was cooked to perfection and even the dog was looked after. They immediately brought her a large bowl of fresh water to make sure she had enough to drink. If we are in the area again. We will definitely call again. Thank you to all the team. Who made the whole experience memorable.

The food was excellent,we had Hunters chicken and the chicken burger. The fillets on the burger were homemade and were beautiful as were the homemade chips. Partner said Hunters chicken was lovely,with nice side of home made onion rings

Had a fabulous early tea, food was fabulous, and staff very friendly, and as a beer drinker the Hobgoblin was 10/10. We will be back.

This place is despicable, I ordered a drink from the bar and received the wrong one, the member of bar staff with a large over done tattoo up his arm was rude and refused to give me the correct drink then just went to messing about on his phone, as well as making comments about how my underage daughter is attractive. This place is shocking and I do not recommend

Very rude front of house and manager. Laughed in our faces when asked if we could get an alcoholic drink before 12pm - we had been for a walk in the rain. For the manager to turn around and say they are closed when the front door was open. Very unfriendly - disappointed and would not recommend.

What a horrible evening meal; we were embarrassed to have invited friends to try the new food & image of Pen y Bont! Food was seemingly well presented but quality has slumped - look at pics provided. Lack of friendly waitress & front of house experience- just slapped the menu down; no greeting; lack of knowledge of the menu; played with her hair & make up was so overdone; we hoped we wouldn’t find a false eye lash in the food. Manager was terse despite checking up on food - walked off before we had time to tell him we were most disappointed. Charged an extra £3 for 6 chips!!! The noise level overall was abysmal- loud, brash; felt one was in a dingy pub! No care & personal attention was taken by waitress, manager or bar staff; drinks were literally slapped in front of one, & waited for payment. The management did not make one feel welcoming as with the experienced & very friendly previous owners. IF the new owner wants the business to succeed, & they await opening another Pub & Bakery - a serious change of heart is required to meet management expectations, customer satisfaction; only then will customers be loyal & return regularly. One of our friends suggested it felt like being in a drugs den! I felt mortified for suggesting a lovely evening spent at a pub I loved going to these past 4 years.

Awful slow service and dry over cooked food despite waiting an hour. Condiments never arrived. I complained to the waiter and he didn’t care or apologise. Absolutely shocking! AVOID at all costs!

Lovely food at the bridge inn excellent service staff amazing and mike the landlord went out of his way to get a bottle off fizz and a birthday card to my suprise ..very kind and thoughtful 🥰

We visited the pen y bony now renamed the Bridge Head last night to have something to eat and to do the quiz. Food was fine, my gammon steak was dry and tough, but not enough to moan about. The complaint is they didn’t have any red wine, none whatsoever and only one bottle of rose. I can accept that to a point, but the owner was rather blasé about this and the staff didn’t know a Merlot from a Chardonnay. We’ve given this pub chance after chance. It’s five strikes now and we are done. Stick to the Harp, they’ve never let us down.

Booked a table here with some friends as we'd seen it advertised under new management. It was noisy the bar was in the same room as the (restaurant ). The language was choice to say the least. A fight started between men. My husband had the salmon which was over cooked and his veg was cold. I ordered a rump steak med rare (on the rare side). It was over cooked to start with I couldn't cut it it was so tough. They did bring me another one that was cooked to how I wanted it but basically the steaks weren't of good quality considering they were priced at £17. Not the place to ho for a quiet meal. We won't be returning.

This place is absolutely terrible, it’s that bad that while all the other pubs in Abergele are busy it’s always empty. Need to replace all the staff and start again.great pub but wrong staff.

Service was slow took 25 minutes for the food to come out and it was cold and reheated. my burger was pink didn’t eat it won’t be going back and wouldn’t recommend anybody going there for food first and last time for me

Food was amazing. Had rib eye steak and it was the best steak I have had in years and it literally melted in my mouth. The only thing I would suggest is more mushrooms as they had so much flavour I wanted more. The whole meal was excellent and the staff were so caring and excellent we will definitely be returning. This will be our new local pub as close to our caravan. Please give our regards to the chef for such a lovely flavoursome meal. We will be back if not 2023 definitely from March2024.

I’m sooooo disappointed. Stumbled across this place just before covid. It was brilliant in every aspect! Sine then we’ve celebrated 60th anniversary, Sunday lunches , drinks and more recently karaoke but we were the only 3. Tonight was dinner for 3. Very limited food choices, dry lasagne , over priced wine despite a discount on the already opened bottle. Young bar member was brilliant, assistant manager was limited to what he could do. I really loved this place, wanted it to succeed and still do…….unfortunately it will be a while before I consider going again

We called in because we were passing on a Sunday afternoon so we has a carvery. What a carvery !! It was really tasty and plentiful. Really generous portions that leave your belly happy.

Absolutely no atmosphere no background music nothing. The manager...,? Was unresponsive when asked anything. The place is very clean, they served our food on nice dishes however it was warm food. A couple of guests felt the same I'm sure as they were talking quietly as you could hear a pin drop. They need a visit from Gordon...

We went there midday for lunch and could not fault the customer service, friendly and helpful, made us feel at home :) the food was spot on and the size was huge compare to most I've been too. I would definitely be going again and I've been recommending to everyone 😁

Staff not very interested in doing their job. Not very friendly. Not as nice as it used to be. Rubbish all the floor outside. Will go to the Harp next time.

Uninspiring menu... Lack of real ales... The beer offered as a substitute (pale) ale was okay... Loud unsupervised children wandering or crawling about... Dogs being continually called back by its owner, from people's tables... Also a selection of expletives from some of the clientele...

Twice we've been here and twice they haven't got our reservations. Food was good, we had Sunday lunch with friends and was surprised that they did not cater for gluten free I.e gravy. The staff although friendly were slow and enjoyed talking to each other rather than taking our orders. Having asked for the dessert menu, no-one came to take our order so we left and although l live in Abergele l will not be returning.

Great food and really friendly staff. This is definitely the next level in pub food. Perfectly cooked and with the type of presentation you would expect from a restaurant. Everything was spot on and they have a good range on the menu. I very rarely eat a full plate of food especially with portions this size but I cleared the lot including my chips which is unusual for me but they were so delicious I couldn't stop. I like my steak rare and this was exactly what I got....melt in the mouth There is a great beer garden to the rear as well. Perfect for summer evenings. Would definitely recommend this place whether you are local to Abergele as we are or on holiday here.

Very limited Sunday menu. Only one veggie option! No lime cordial which seems an odd thing for a pub to run out of. No bottled fruit cider. Some on draughty though. Veggies arrived half way through the meal but were delicious so that was ok, if everything else had been ok too. However my beef was dry and over cooked. So dry that it was hard and impossible to cut. I left it all except one slice. We did complain and the waiter apologised however nothing knocked off the bill or offered. It looked as if it had not been kept under gravy properly while it was being kept warm. So not really a good value meal! Happy to pay these prices and more for quality food. Unfortunately this wasn’t up to the mark. I’d expect a manager or chef to speak to us after a complaint and as we had dessert there was plenty of time. It was very quiet on a Sunday lunchtime so that should really have given me a clue. However it was too late by then as we’d booked. Very disappointed.

A fantastic family meal for Easter Sunday, amazing food, nice and hot, excellent value and great portions. Friendly and attentive staff. A very welcome atmosphere, fabulous with children. Hygiene rating excellent. The Manager, Family and Staff made it a really lovely experience. Definitely returning again. The Potter family from Sandbach Cheshire. 🙌

Called in on our way home from a day out with the family as we wanted a hot meal and we were really impressed with the service and quality of the food. The staff made us very welcome and were very friendly, my 2 sons really enjoyed the food and a great choice on the kids menu. My wife and I had the rump which was cooked to perfection. We will definitely call again when in the area. A nice touch were the eggs my sons got as it is Easter tomorrow. Thank you for a lovely time.

Food amazing, staff amazing, well worth a visit

Had a beautiful mother's day meal here today. The food was gorgeous. I had a lovely roast pork dinner everything was just absolutely delicious right down to the stuffing ball now that was something else 😋 The white chocolate and lemon cheesecake was divine 🥰. We shall be back for another roast soon 10/10. Thanks to manager and all the staff for making us feel very welcome and for the mother's day fizz 🥂.

Fabulous Christmas dinner! Even though we hadnt booked and they had a private party upstairs the friendly staff were able to accommodate us no problem. We knew the freshly cooked food would be fab as we have never had a bad meal here and the christmas dinner was exceptional. Highly recommend this pub with its lovely staff.

Fantastic food, very friendly staff. A little gem of a place serving high quality food.

We visited with family and friends a party of 7 including 3 children. Although, we had not booked the staff put tables together and were very flexible and accommodating. The staff were extremely pleasant, helpful and attentive. They could not have been any more welcoming and were brilliant with the children, offering colouring, pencils. The staff kept us upto date with the wait times. The food was very nice. We would all recommend to all and will be returning.

Went in unbooked for dinner. Shown to a table by a very helpful, polite and cheerful young lad. I don't usually order burgers in a pub/restaurant but was glad l did. My wife ordered the belly pork on a bed of black pudding mash, an old favourite which isn't on many menus. The food was excellent, well presented and served by very polite attentive staff. We'll definitely be going back to try more from their varied and great value menu.

Beer was flat Had to be taken back Fetched our startes with main meal Then when they did fetch the main meals you could tell they had been kept hot roasters sloppy £94 Not worth it at all .No wounder the place was empty

Visited here last Friday during our 2 night trip down from Scotland. Highly recommend Pen-y-Bont Inn, food was delicious and extremely good value for money. I had the garlic mushrooms (lush) and steak which was perfectly cooked, home cooked chips also. Staff were extremely helpful. Will definitely be back for food if we are ever in the area again, thank you.

Came across this place while visiting family who were away in thier caravan. The landlady is warm freindly and accommodating, explained about special deals they have ect.. THE FOOD Was expecting the usual pub food. How wrong was I!!! The food was cooked fresh to order with fresh local ingredients, it really showed in the quality of the dishes. The menu is simple (which I like) but flavours quality portion size where amazing as was the way it was all cooked. One if the best pub meals we've probably ever had. Also so cheap!! Family 4 adults and a child, all had 3 courses.. Garlic mushrooms to start 2 fillet steak with trimmings A HUGE mixed grill. And just as big burger 3 deserts 2 bottles of prosseco 4 pints of beer And soft drinks £110 and worth every penny. We will be back in a few weeks.

We have been several times for meals. Always good. The fillet steak deal (2 fillet steak and a bottle of wine for £30) is the best. Best to book on peak periods. Definitely will be back.

We had lunch here on the hottest day of the year! 31 degs and it was cool inside but we sat in the beer garden at the back. Lovely friendly staff, kept fetching us water whilst we waited for our food. The food was lovely, freshly cooked , there was 6 of us and we all had a good meal, absolutely no complaints. We would definitely come back.

What a lovely pub/restaurant. Made to feel so welcome food all home cooked and beautiful. Dog friendly and he was also made to feel welcome - brought water and treats. Definately recommend and will be back soon. Danny the waiter was just lovely, helpful and friendly a real credit to the place

Polite& pleasant staff,good food

Popped in for a drink and a snack. Pint and a rose wine, scampi and a BBQ chicken wrap. Food was delicious, friendliness of staff amazing. Well worth a visit. 5 🌟 from me.

Really great place. Read some great reviews and wanted to try it for ourselves. We weren't disappointed. Meet our friend there as they are from Rhos on Sea and we are from Prestatyn, do the pubs roughly half way Although the menu looks interesting all four us opted for the Steak offer which was great value at £30 for two steaks and a bottle of wine. Sweets were good as well. Kelly on front of house made us feel welcome and kept us served through the night. This place does live up to its reputation, really good value, great criac and fantastic food. Well be back.

Simple menu with delicious food and lovely staff. We visited Pen-y-Bont because we saw a constant stream of customers going in and thought there had to be a reason. We were not disappointed and the food even exceeded our expectations.
