Pelican State Baker Street in City of London, Westminster

We popped in as were attending a matinee show close by. My friend and I enjoyed our wine and our meals. The decor is simple, but neat and tidy. I recommend the soft crab burger it was tasty and ample.

I actually came in to buy a portion of voodoo sauce but they only sold very small containers at about £2 or so and I changed my mind. My friend and I decided to have the lunch offer of the seafood boil with the voodoo sauce. We had had it at the Bloomsbury branch and loved it, which is why I wanted to get some to accompany some salmon later. However, we were both appalled at how awful the sauce was. It was so bad I tried to scrape it off the seafood. It tasted like a horrid mixture of sweet, salty and tangy and left an awful aftertaste. The garlic bread was soggy. My friend who is a trained chef, reckoned that the sauce was not fresh and the garlic bread was not either. Sorry for the harsh review but we were both very disappointed. I don't know if someone changed the sauce but every time, we went to the branch in Bloomsbury, we just couldn't wait to go back. However, the staff is commendable.

This little restaurant serves amazing non fuss fast food. It's consistent..... The staff are always friendly and happy. They do not add service since its not table service..others take note. No expectations of tips etc just pure come eat enjoy. The kind of team you actual want to thank !! So since you didn't take service today my thank you .... Your the best.

It's our first experience at this Pelican State. It was clean. We absolutely appreciated that. The food was very tasty. Monika was really friendly and lovely. 09/10 to her and for the service. We like the music, just to be little different. Thanks :)

We'd seen this restaurant on Instagram and it looked amazing. I expect a piping hot flavour full steaming bag of seafood. Instead it was a luke warm, platter covered in some non descript flour thickened sauce. The sweet potato fries were quite nice and the macaroni cheese was ok but very small portions. The staff were friendly enough but didn't make up for very cool food

At the restaurant they have words like "Crispy" and "Crunchy" with high letters printed in front of the bar, so I thought, "I wouldn't mind some authentic Southern crispy fried seafood". So I ordered one of their fried seafood mix. In the meantime I sat there listening to the abominable music, reminiscent of slum. Decor is basic, but I didn't mind that, I came in for the food. And so the food arrived: an amorphous mass of soggy, greasy, tasteless mess. As I was very hungry and as I did not expect any replacement to be better than what I was served, I decided to eat it - well have of it. Because except from soggy and greasy the food was also dehydrated and chewy, as it was evidently fried ages ago and then reheated in the microwave. Honestly I thought I would contract good poisoning that night, as my stomach felt very, very upset for hours, but luckily I didn't. Good stuff! There are tow good things about this place though: the waitresses were amazing and the beer was nice and cold. But I did not visit that place to make friends neither to just drink beer, I visited it to eat some nice "crunchy", "crispy", tasty, FRESH seafood. And I did not get either of those things, hence the one star.

If you love seafood, I highly recommend. Food was amazing and the staff were so friendly, Monika was our server and made our birthday (mine and my sisters) so special. Will definitely be back again worth the 6 hour round trip.

The Grilled Seafood Plate was so good! Divine. Generous in portion size. Tasty and so good. I loved it. Spicy and a delight at every mouthful. Good combination of seafood and vegetables. The Plate included prawns but I asked the staff if I could swap this for extra calamari and they happily agreed. Good service. Order at the counter, pay and take a seat and they will bring the food to you. You can choose a dip with the platter. In all honesty, I was fine without the dip as the spice and marinade on the Plate was lovely. Clean restaurant. Food took a while to come but I didn't mind waiting to get good food. I enjoyed my drink, listening to the cool music and relaxing. I happily cleared my plate when the food arrived to the point where I wanted to order more! The Baker Street branch is small with limited seating. I went early when it wasn't too busy. This is pretty reasonably priced, it is seafood which is never cheap but portions are generous and filling so I can allow for this. Will definitely be back.

I thought it would be a better than it was. We paid quite a lot of money for a plate full of spindly crab legs, some overcooked mussels and prawns and a couple of pieces of cold, soggy garlic bread. It was also the messiest and least relaxing meal ever. They give you scissors, picks and get this, gloves.

Excited about going here as the adverts make your mouth-water. Unfortunately, the coated seafood was extremely salty. The seafood cooked in a sauce was equally murdered by sodium, robbing the food of its natural tastes. I would only recommend if the restaurant used limited salt-based seasonings, using more natural herbs or spices with a little butter.

Really super delicious seafood boil. The atmosphere is great. Service is very friendly. Ordered seafood boils, grill and burgers. Will definitely recommend!

I went to Pelican State Baker Street two Saturdays in a row as the food was lush. Both times I had the seafood boil in cajun sauce. Yummy! The manager, Vera, deserves a raise as she went over and above the call of duty to ensure the diners were happy.

I took a crispy seafood platter with bum bum sauce and an alc free Pina colada. All was good. The price is also very reasonable for what you get.

Was taken to Baker Street as Brunswick was fully booked. Have to say it was most awful meal. The restaurant was cold, awful music playing and no ambience whatsoever . Had the grill the food was over cooked, tepid and inedible. Always warning sign if have to pay in advance. It is trying to be an upmarket fast food outlet with limited menu but doing it very badly. It is a good principle if done well and limits food wasted Unlike Flat Iron which has limited menu but food is great , ambience is good. . Will not be returning and telling friends not to go

What a seafood feast it was.🦐🦞🦀 Spent under 30 quid each and we're fully packed with perfectly grilled prawns, squid and even a lobster half! Will come again surely!

Took a grilled seafood combo and Po boy (some sandwich with fried prawns). Paid 25£ for all with a soft drink. Everything was really tasty, and the price is also reasonable for what you get.
