Quick stop on our journey, greeted as we entered and enjoyed a light meal served by friendly staff .

Visited with a group of friends who had been out on Salisbury Plain having fun in Land Rovers. A very warm welcome, great service and tasty food. Plenty of parking for our convoy of Landys too! Thank you.

Absolutely lovely little quaint restaurant and inn. Good food, good beer and good beds :) Met a few locals and had a good time with them as I learned about the local geography. The entire stay was absolutely memorable and if I'm ever back I'll be staying here again without question.

Stopped off randomly on way through. A little gem of a place

A 30 minute tacho break meant a convenient stop here for a J2O and a plate of beer battered cod and chips. Excellent.

Great atmosphere, lovely food, comfortable rooms.

Great home cooked food at reasonable cost. Cozy and clean bar, friendly staff too. Room was clean, surprised no soap/shower gel etc. Walls are thin you can hear the neighbours even when just talking. Pub is next to the river, lovely hearing the flow even on a dark winter evening.

Went to The Pelican for dinner tonight with my partner. We had our hopes high and were not disappointed! The barman was polite and helpful, food arrived quickly, and the portion sizes were large. Highly recommend coming here for anyone interested.

Nice pub, great food, service was attentive without being in your face. Waiting times for food was very fair, all arriving for our party at the same time Big and varied menu, something for everyone. Proper chips, nice and crispy, perfectly fluffy in the middle. Double your serving size for an extra £1.79 - not needed despite wanting to lol. Only criticism, and it's a small one, is that the sherry trifle cheesecake wasn't properly defrosted. This minor niggle was offset by the flavour. Proper lush mind. FYI, menus show No pork option on Sunday roast.

Food is absolutely delicious. Can’t fault the staff at all. The manager Dave is friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. Warm friendly atmosphere too. Lovely pub

Restaurant and bar were good with helpful and friendly staff - I booked the hotel as their booking com listing said they were disabled friendly - whilst the restaurant and bar is the rooms certainly aren't and it was a struggle to enter the room and then impossible to use the facilities

We always stop for a pint after a day at Windhill Bikepark. Staff are always friendly and very quick to serve. The Beverages always go down well......cold and fresh. Unfortunately due to the timing I can't give a true representation of atmosphere as we normally arrive around 15.30 so it's very quiet on a Sunday afternoon. But we are always well received. Well done Pelican.👍👍

We arrived at The Pelican as a stop off between our home in Worthing & our destination at Chudleigh Knighton in Devon. The new Landlords of The Pelican had only recently the pub over & had only just opened. We were heartily welcomed in & the interior of the pub is really well turned out. I think this may well be a good destination to eat out & I look forward to my first meal there. 👍👍👍

Historical pub Inn fab beer garden didn't eat food there so can't comment Couldn't have a bloody Mary cocktail as no tomato juice so settled for a cheeky half larger The bar manager is a great guy. I would return perhaps in summer time

Meet the locals and spend a relaxed evening.

Just popped in to the Pelican for the first time in years! We had lunchtime meals (nice fish and chips!) and a drink. Pub is dog friendly, drinks were good, food was great, It ticked all the boxes you need, including comfort, atmosphere, lovely staff and friendly service. It may have been a long time since we visited before, but it won't be long till we visit again. Thankyou.

We were coming to the end of our 2 & a half hour journey yesterday, as we'd been on holiday. Just a few miles from home, but didn't fancy cooking. We arrived just in time to order. (6pm they normally stop serving food on a Sunday, but open until 9pm). Myself, my husband & the children were made to feel welcome. On a few day time occasions we have arrived spontaneously & found them to be fully booked, as they are very popular due to great food & reputation. Booking is advisable! Very soon, they will be bringing back their Sunday Roast for the Winter months (we were told by the chef) 12-4pm or until the roasts run out 🙂 Photos taken were close to closing time & after our meal, hence why it looks almost empty. We had Chicken Tikka, Hunters Chicken, Mac n Cheese & Chicken dippers kids meal. Children can be fussy, but there were great options for children. Clean plates all round 😊. I highly recommend the Mac n Cheese, as it had a twist that made it taste delicious. You now have new return customers! Thanks guys.

Having realised that a) it was 4pm, I hadn't eaten anything all day, and wouldn't be home until 7pm, and b) I would be arriving at my next destination half an hour early and would have to sit in my car, I just happened to be driving past The Pelican and pulled in on the off-chance of having some food. It wasn't busy but it had a nice feel, and I ordered a prawn salad and went outside in the sunshine to eat it. I know food can taste better when you're really hungry, but this was SO nice.. it wasn't 'just' a plate of iceberg lettuce with prawn cocktail on the top.. and the balance of flavours was delicious. The menu is quite standard pub grub type, but lots of choice.. and if the salad is anything to go by, I'd hope that the rest of the meals would have that little extra flair too 😁

Had a lovely overnight stay on way to iow warner defo stay again welcoming serves fab ale and the food was wonderful couldnt fault it lovely inside fab outside garden area around the back and lots of free parking will be stoping again next time we this way x

Friendly welcome from the hosts and the locals. Good value room for a stop over. Nothing was too much trouble for the team. Good beer and food. Would recommend and stay again.

I stayed last weekend. As my daughter was doing a sky dive .for hairfields hospital. We had a lovely time. Rooms are clean and tidy.could of done with a hair dryer in room 2. Well worth a stay.foid was good.

I was at the Pelican this afternoon with my husband and daughter. Food excellently cooked and served, staff friendly and helpful. Altogether a very relaxing and pleasant afternoon.

Dropped in here for dinner after a days fishing on the Wylye. Excellent shortcrust pastry steak pie and a very good burger. We’ll definitely return next time we’re fishing here.

It was okay, a bit old fashioned, rather dull, just very plain. The hotel needs upgraded and refurbished

Paid a visit having heard good reports which turned out to be excellent certainly food was .On a downside the sweet was advised as a Banoffe tart but seemed to be a very rich dark chocolate tart no tast of banana at all .other than than that this will not deter us from visiting again .

10 of us met up for lunch. Good "pub grub" & some smaller "meal deals". Fish & chips a popular choice (large & small) & everybody enjoyed their food. Puds excellent value too. Most enjoyable 🙂, happy to revisit. Give it a try ....

Lovely pub, amazing food and friendly service.

We mainly stayed here for dinner and also ate here together. The food was delicious and not expensive. The fish and chips and lasagna were both delicious. We chose a lot of shrimp for the salad. We made an appointment near Stonehenge. It only takes 15 minutes. If you drive there, you can come here to eat. It’s affordable and affordable. The accommodation is pretty good, but the mattress in Room 1 is broken and sunken.

Stayed in room 2 on 13th April, service was lovely and food was 10/10, wasn’t sure what to expect because of how affordable the rooms are but would travel back the 5 hours just for the food, beds weren’t the comfiest but like I said it’s so affordable you really can’t complain, will definitely be coming back. (Sorry about the noise we made at dinner)

Just popped in for a drink following a trip to Warminster. Lovely looking pub, clean, tidy and with a good atmosphere. We didn't have food this time but will definitely be going back. Took a look at menu, very good variety and a good childrens menu.

Me and my husband had a takeaway meal and it was a really lovely alternative to the usual Saturday night takeaway. The food was cooked and ready within 20 minutes, it was good portions and really tasty, will definitely be ordering again and hopefully have a sit in meal without the kids! Thankyou ⭐️

Hi it was our 1st visit went along for the steak night to be told one steak left ...we were there at 6.30 so it was not later there were not many people at the tables so you could not say they had run out steaks ...we had other dishes but it was average.. we wont be returning disspointed ....

Partner had made a reservation for Sunday lunch 1.30 to 2pm but when we got there we ended up waiting far too long for our food. When food did arrive it wasn't exactly what we ordered, 2 meats supposedly instead of the beef we ordered (mostly frozen food as well). Portion sizes were an eye opener, one dessert spoon of mash 3 carrots 1 broccoli and one cauliflower. Yorkshire pudding looked like and tasted like it had been trodden on. Partner ordered the Rocky Road sundae and that looked like it had been thrown together, he said it wasn't anything to get excited over. Not impressed with the price we paid (over £50 including a few drinks while we had to wait and waiting time (40 minutes) was way too long in my opinion. Yes I know it was mother's day but we booked in advance so no excuses for the wait. Not much pride in their food. Early days as I understand they have only been there 3 months or so but lack of staff, lack of quality and lack of pride will eventually take it's toll if this place doesn't turn itself around. Over priced for what it was. Won't be visiting again. Very very disappointed I have to say.

The starters we had were good, but then we had burgers for our mains…the first bite all we could taste was charcoal! Had a look and both burgers were black, however on the inside they were dark pink some parts red. The fries were also quite hard.

Very good food & quiet as January but lovely pub & feel/decor. Food very tasty & really impressed they had vegan nachos !!! I usually miss out as a vegan. All really enjoyed our meals & would go again. Used this after a trip to Longleat on our route home. Child portion of mac cheese quite tiny but otherwise all was good & our daughter said it was really yummy ! A happy choice !

Stopped today on way down to Devon and had a wonderful lunch and never had to get up once for drinks as the service was top notch along with the food.

We stayed here for the winter solstice. We arrived half an hour before the food service closed but they held on for desserts for us. The food was lovely, very tasty and great portions, the staff were brilliant, very welcoming and very friendly, they really couldn't do enough for you. The rooms are basic but clean with good amenities and great value. Lovely little place, highly recommend.

Waited an hour for food, then got a steak and ale pie that was still frozen in the centre! Asked for no tomato on the steak and got a big red tomato plonked on top of the steak and no mushrooms, which were part of the menu! Huge apologies and got told "Sorry its our first day open!" At that rate it will be your last too! Pity, as it smelt good!

Sadly, after booking the week before by telephone, when we arrived for our birthday meal, we were told the chef was sick. The chap serving hadnt been told of any bookings and despite giving our telephone number at time of booking, we were not contacted. Would have saved us a 20 min journey and giving us a little more time to try and book in somewhere else that evening. Very disappointing customer service.

We stayed overnight at this lovely little pub. Staff were so helpful and friendly. Ate in the bar honestly priced food that is both hot and tasty thank you guys

Lovely place not far from stonehenge, chalet-style rooms, I stayed with my girlfriend for two nights for winter solstice. Place was clean and modern on the inside even though it's a 200 plus year old pub. Warm too. Very reasonable price on the room and drinks. Unfortunately the chef was off sick so we couldn't order food but Lionel at the bar was kind to offer to do us some anyway, and even helped us work out our way to stonehenge and back, his friend helped us with a lift! Couldn't recommend highly enough, lovely place, lovely people, very likely will visit again 👍

We stopped in for some food on the way past and enjoyed the home cooked food. It was tasty and glad we stopped here. Looks like it would be a nice place for an evening meal.

Recently came under new management, Exceptional experience, kind and generous staff, delightful location close to Stonehenge. The rooms and accommodations were nice and safe, the food was fantastic, the pub has a genuine and authentic atmosphere that was extremely friendly. It’s a very family friendly place by the way.
