Best chippy in Banbury by far 10/10

The food was beautiful. The atmosphere was lovely. Pete is a very nice gent.

Didn't even ask what chips I wanted just gave me plain. The condiments had bugs in it and the pricing was inconsistent for the condiments. Gave someone free sauce while I had to pay £2. Didn't even give me a chance to change my chips to battered.

A name change doesnt change the poor qaulity food!! Burnt fish, chips stuck to the paper, cheese burger didnt look as advertised on uber eats not to mention they forgot the gherkins and my chillie sauce!! Awful AVOID! The burger looked DEPRESSINGLY SAD

My usual Friday takeout was closed, so I sought a local alternative. I was relatively disappointed with my experience. I ordered a large fish and chips and thought for the price it must be worth my consideration, only to have fell short of my expectations. My food was being prepared by the member of staff while cleaning the surrounding areas with chemicals which caught me off guard. 0 for food handling. Onto the meal, I cannot justify the price of £12. I have tasted way better for half the price. The chips were just a handful. As fresh as they were, I expected the whole box to be filled with chips alone. The sauce tub took up 1/4 of the box. But what topped it off for me was the beyond bland fish. Not even salt and vinegar made a difference. Not that I was expecting the likes of Masala fish but that was some tasteless cod. Overall, I was fed, but sadly, I will not be re-ordering or revisiting.

These were the WORSE fish n chips I've ever had. All 3 Fish was obviously left over from last night. Battered Chips were burnt and unable to be eaten, again left overs. Even 1 star, is 1 star to much. Won't be using this chippy again. Pre covid best chippy by far... what's happened? Not the 1st time we've had the same problem, but thought it was a 1 off.......

Had 2x Doner Kebabs and 2x small chips on Tuesday night. After a long wait I received food. The food was the worst I have ever had. The chips were burnt on the outside but hard in the middle.kebab meat tasted awful and the food was barely warm. That will be the last time they get my money.Had to throw in bin so £19.00 of hard earned money wasted.

Regular on ubereats... prices have increased a lot the past few months which is fine but tonight I paid nearly 12 quid for large kebab meat and chips and got a small portion, it usually feeds two. They refunded me in full so I cant say fare than that.

Ordered regular fish and chips and donner meat and chips through Uber eats. My Partners Donner meet was nice but we both ordered battered chips and they aren’t battered, and the ‘regular’ cod was definitely a mini, so had been over charged.

Ordered a take out this evening and, if I’m honest, I don’t always enjoy it but it was faultless tonight. The veggie burger was lovely, others had kebab and fish and all enjoyed it. Young girl who took my order got it spot on so thank you!

Nice food, though fish is getting expensive.

Very helpful staff and a good selection of food

This is my partner's local chippy and they do battered chips, which he raves about. I have tried them, but didn't like them. Have had food from here a few times, but it's not my cuppa tea. They do everything from fish and chips to kebabs They are on one of the delivery sites, but that is very hit and miss. My partner ended up actually going to get the food on one occasion - they did give him extra chips on his next visit though!

Just been and had 2 roe and 2 scallops they where both that thin and greasy not worth the money won't be going again keeps putting his prices up quality well below par

I was contemplating on writing a review as I wanted to give them the benefit of doubt. First time we ordered the food was dried out and over cooked, now I’ve stood in the queue for over ten minutes to be told they are closed what even is the point of having a queue.!!! Lack of communication in this line of buisness!!

Came in today & ordered large fish & chips which cost £8.50. Told they had no large fish so I had to wait a while for it to be "cooked". When I eventually got the meal, the fish was dry, overcooked & mostly batter definitely not freshly cooked like I was told I was waiting for. Looked & tasted like it had been under the heat lamps all lunch time. Chips were cold & again, not freshly cooked. Mushy peas were also missing from the meal. Very disappointed as I'm not sure what I was waiting for? Obviously just for the food to go cold?

Best chippy in the area by a mile

There can be a few scraggy bits as opposed to recognisable chipped potato, especially if you have the battered chips but this is only occasionally, mostly good and warrants multiple returns as we have.

It was 8.45pm Saturday night when I bought chips and mini fish, pretty disappointed with both, Batter chips were soggy and mainly bits and there was hardly any fish in the hard batter, will give it s miss in future

Great service happy staff fresh great tasting food. A busy shop but I’ve never waited too long to be honest the food is worth waiting for.

Well everyone says how good this is so the first time I’ve used this and just brought a fish and chips. Half the chips are more like scratchings just burnt offerings really not chips and overpriced. The fish is ok but nothing special. Thank you to who has replied to this review and I will pop back soon when I have time and adjust this review if this appropriate. Well popped in for a replacement free meal and this one was lovely but I did ask how long the chips had been cooked and they were just coming out of the fryer. So thank you but it’s a pity the lady that served me the first visit thought she could palm me off with burnt offerings instead of saying they’d ran out of chips, as it was 10 minutes before they closed.

High quality chipshop high value for money

Had a bite to eat from there around three weeks ago, the food was ok with fish and chips but very expensive. The worst experience was the service. The lady service asked what I wanted and carried in chatting to her friend. She then dished up the wrong food. How can you mess up with something so simple. It's hardly rocket science. Unless of course you where too busy chatting and not really paying any attention to your paying customers. When I corrected her she looked as if I had asked her to jump through hoops of fire. The reason I won't be returning.

Love the food from here, always very tasty

What they have just given my wife was absolutely disgusting. We have 2 dogs and neither of them wanted to try it . I'm surprised that the standards have dropped as they have because years ago it used to be fine. This hasn't been done to be nasty but I do believe that this was the last time we will be using the fish shop. We live just up the road and have done for 30 years and in that time we have watched it go down and down.

Half these 5* reviews are so blatantly fake. Ate from here last night and been vomiting since. Reported this dump to trading standards. I did not confront the staff because they are rude and aggressive.

Just had sausage and chips the last thing I've tried and not one complaint every single time I've had from here has always been pleasing staff are always polite I'm so lucky this place is on my door step

Fish and chips taste like rubber consistently and the staff are very rude here. Always an unwelcoming atmosphere. Used to be a good chippy back in the day but now it’s very bad. I think I’ll stick to the Old Swinford chippy from now on.

Nasty staff and nasty place. Saw mice by the door. The guy working inside threatened me when I informed him.

I've been to all the Chippy's in the area and this place serves the best chips in my opinion. 4 stars only due to the unbelievable tightness at times, which seems to be more important than customer service and promoting loyalty sadly

Great selection of food, always clean, friendly staff, prices are fair and always worth traveling to. There can be a queue at times, because its a great chippy, but service is fast so don't let it put you off. Heard that the savaloy is not a wise choice but I wouldn't have one from anywhere so I wouldn't know. I would recommend this chippy whether you have your own regular or not.

Great traditional chip shop with a great selection available. I recommend the Pork Yeeros flatbread with tzatziki sauce it's a nice alternative to a doner kebab

Went there last night had two portions of fish and chips absolutely fantastic best in the area you actually get a decent sized piece of fish the batter was nice and crispy and the chips are cooked to perfection will be back next weekend

Never had a bad meal from here kids and adults love it in our family. Food is always pretty fresh. Plus they sell battered chips lol..
