I just finish my super delicious meal. Chinese never ever tasted so good. The duck was big pieces with loose skin on the crispy noodles with garlic pak Choi on top. I normally keep one prawn for last to eat the best last. Tonight I didn’t need to as both dishes super delicious. Noodles was not menu. I made up my own dish

Had ordered for collection today, polite and friendly staff, point is food was tasty and had discount, tasty food, what could be better ?

We just had a takeaway from Pearl Dragon. I wouldn’t normally write a review but this just had to be said. All the dished we ordered were awful. Mixed meat rice was tasteless, the fried noodles was watery and the wonton soup was so salty. Now,wonton is made with the meat wrapped in a pastry. The one we had has the meat and pastry floating in the soup separately. Looks like they just whacked anything up hoping to bluff the customer. Unfortunately, this time your customer is Chinese! I wouldn’t recommend this place to anybody who wants a decent Chinese meal.

We ate here as a family of 4 on Friday evening. The service was good and the food excellent. The staff were helpful and friendly and . Well worth a visit.

I was there and what I have seen I couldn't believe it. The place was great, but unfortunately totally empty. I guess it's due to the location, but I recommend it to everyone to go there even if it's not in the central position of the city.Take that 3-4 minutes walk from the busy city centre and visit them. They have great food and the place is being taken care of. I have been in a couple of Chinese restaurants where I didn't know if I am sitting at the back of the shop or actually in the restaurant. This is definitely not like those ones. The tables are beautifully set, and the food is great + don't forget to mention the waitress who was super helpful and nice at all time.Please go and visit them, they deserve more customers.

We were looking for somewhere different to go for dinner and came across Pearl Dragon. Will not be disappointed! Everything was fresh and piping hot. Duck spring rolls were delicious. Worth a visit and definitely will come back.

We have been regulars since 1998 through various owners. It has and is still our favourite and by far the best in Romford. Many dishes beat the same in China Town.Sarah and co have been looking after us through lock down with delicious take aways. Tonight we had our first eat in experience and it was amazing!Grilled dumplings, salt & chilli squid and ribs. Fresh roast duck was divine. First time and will definitely order again.Our staple dry beef hofun and spicy pork and aubergine was yummy. Delicious stuffed aubergine, peppers and been curd with black bean sauce made us very happy along with hotpots and crispy pork and oysters8 will be regular choice in future.Sarah, Jo and co took great care of us and always make mum in law feel really special.Can't wait to go back soon.Chef and kitchen is back and on fire!

This is a real find. A genuine cantonese restaurant in Essex. Authentic food, excellent service and helpful staff.

The food and the whole experience was just wonderful! It started from the very fist interaction with the owner and his staff! They were so caring and kind, but THE FOOD!!! I’m vegetarian, so I got Bean curd with chilli black bean sauce and it was amazing! 10/10 my whole family loved their orders and we will be coming back and bringing friends from now on! Thank you

I went to Pearl Dragon as a few of my friends had recommended it. The only positive thing about this place was the owner, she greeted us and was very friendly. The rest of the experience was pretty awful. We ordered vegetarian spring rolls and were sent duck rolls. When we told the waiter, who was very rude and started arguing with us. After a long discussion, he then said they will re do them. We were then sent a plate with one vegetarian spring roll amongst more duck rolls. We were extremely disappointed by this carelessness and wouldn't recombined it to anyone with allergies/dietary requirements. We decided to leave the restaurant after this as we couldn't trust them to pay attention to the rest of the meals.

Quite disappointing From all the raving reviews about this place it was OK but not what I would class amazing Service was slow and food was ok, however they bring out rice/noodles and was left waiting for the meat dishes for 5 minutes after rather than being brought together It was clean-ish in the restaurant but they dont seem to be the cleanest of restaurants.Some of the dishes were better than others. They like to use a LOT of fresh red chilli’s and not every dish needs them!As far as a local eat in chinese for romford its ok as long as you dont need to use the toilets which were both blocked and flooded which also meant there was a rather unpleasant smell! Would i go back? Probably not!

We eat at the restaurant on a regular basis...our entire family are lovers of authentic chinese cuisine and this is the best outside of China Town. Outstanding dishes from .fillet steak Cantonese style to .fried squid with a dip.fantastic noodles with Lobster. Soft shell crab . Sweet and sour pork Just some of our favourite dishes. Friendly professional service and now the installing of a Karaoke machine ads another fun element.Perfect for any occasion.

This is an excellent Chinese restaurant Typical Chinese menu with all the standard dishes you would expect. Not expensive. Very attentive service without being obtrusive. Spotlessly clean. Very comfortable seating but slightly lacking any atmosphere on the wet and windy Sunday evening we were there. Would certainly recommend

Went to the restaurant for dinner, have to say the food and the place is good, enjoyed the night. The food potion are good size and taste really good, as well as a good selections with drinks.

First time my wife and I have been to this restaurant. We tried the vegetarian set meal for two. Every dish was exquisite, tasted fresh and was cooked just right. Around £22 per head with a couple of drinks each, was great value for money.

Fantastic food eat in and take away. Highly recommend the honey pork chop! Delicious! Service is always quick and friendly. Located right by pubs and train station.

Been using pearl dragon for a few months now after seeing an ad on Facebook and have not used another Chinese restaurant since. They have a large variety of food and the friendly staff always help me choose different dishes every time. They also do takeaway and it’s always quick, the delivery driver is always friendly.

Me and my boyfriend have recently moved into the area and wanted to try. After seeing mixed reviews , we decided to try.

A group of us have been coming to the Pearl Dragon at least once a year to meet up and reminisce and enjoy some good food!

Had a takeaway from here a few nights ago, total shame as there are some lovely reviews here. Food turned up cold and they also forgot to deliver the aromatic duck, they did then deliver it later on but it hadn’t even been shredded. Probably one of the worst takeaways i have ever had. Delivery driver was really lovely and polite but thats about all this place has going for itself.

Have visited the Pearl Dragon many times and have never been disappointed with the food or service. Try the Chilli Mussels on bed of ice, smoked chicken, ribs and many others. Delicious.

My husband and I go here all the time. We’ve had Birthday, Anniversary and family celebrations from 4 to 50 people and have always been greeted by the friendly staff. The food is always fantastic, served by a smiling waitress. Nothing is too much trouble for the restaurant staff. This place is very family friendly. If you have never been before you are seriously missing out. They also do take away and delivery and the food is always hot and lovely when it arrives. Good value for money eat in or out.

We recently visited the Pearl Dragon for a family meal as well as a wine tasting evening, the food was excellent and the wine tasting was well hosted. The customer service is amazing, they were very welcoming and friendly. If you see any special events on at the Pearl Dragon, it’s well worth a visit!

We went for a meal as a group whilst visiting friends in the area after a recommendation and were not disappointed. The menu is great, it has everything you would want to find in a traditional chinese restaurant. The food itself was delicious, everything was piping hot and clearly freshly made - my husband is still raving about the crispy beef now!

I visited the Pearl Dragon on Sunday 4th January with a few friends for a get togethor and to reminisce about our times in Hong Kong - The food took me back to the good times we had and the service was perfect + the music wasn't too loud like some places!

Went for my friend's birthday over the weekend and what was meant to be an enjoyable evening was swiftly ruined when we saw the manager HITTING a customer - completely unprovoked - when they complained about the food. It was like a bloody episode of Kitchen Nightmares only somehow more tragic.

A warm welcome and polite service made this the right choice for an evening out with two work colleagues visiting from CANADA. They were suitably impressed and resulted in an additional years contract for my company here in LONDON. I was astounded to see such a negative review are the above comments for the right restaurant? Very Rude Lady took my order, no smile, no thank you, felt like I was at a drill camp. Got my food after forty minutes of waiting for one special fried rice before being shooed out of restaurant by two old ladies! If I knew Chinese they were probably swearing at me!

Went in with a few friends on saturday. Customer service was non existent as well the food taking far too long to be served. The food itself was well below expectation. Wont ever be going again.

Pearl Dragon is our favourite Chinese in Romford and by far the best for quality and authentic flavours. As always it lived up to high expectations.

This restaurant provides authentic Chinese food very close to what you’d get from Chinatown. It’s always enjoyable eating there. Shame it is not near my home.

I have been eating in this restaurant for over 10 years and I cannot recommend it enough. Not only is it run by a lovely, friendly family but the food is amazing - always fresh, piping hot and of the best quality. Every time I visit there are many Chinese people eating in there which I'm sure says a lot for the food!! For sure the best Chinese in the area. They also do take-away and delivery.

Tried a delivery from this place for the 1st time.

The meal I had was awful. It was chicken curry. The chicken was spongy and rubbery, this was covered in an awful curry sauce and the usual way to bulk out a Chinese meal, lots of nearly raw onions. I could not see Green tea or Jasmine tea on the drinks menu so I went to the 'bar' and asked for a large glass of lime and soda. The 'barman' produced a small cheap looking plastic bottle of soda water, then an enormous container of Lime juice Cordial. he said the drink was warm so did I want ice. When I asked the price of the drink he said £3.20!! The ingredients could not have cost more than 10p. I declined the drink. I would never go back there again.

Went as a group of 7 with my friends / work colleagues for a night out and was very happy with the food and the value for money. The waitress was attentive and efficient.We ordered from the fixed price menu which still gave you the choice of anything from the a la carte menu.I LOVED the crispy belly pork - it was rich and succulent - not at all dry as in some other restaurants.Smoked chicken was crispy and caramelised - very tasty.To top it all, we had toffee apple - cooked perfectly.We've been here a few times for group outings from work and would definitely recommend it.

Defiantly worth a visit. Beautiful, authentic family run Chinese restaurant. Have been going to Pearl Dragon with the family & friends for years. It's not our closest Chinese but its defiantly the best In the area. The staff and owner are always more than hospitable and can't do enough for you, it's good quality food, and there is rarely any left at the end of the meal. The restaurant is clean and tidy with a authentic Chinese feel to it.And the best part about it... THEY DELIVER! :) nearly always takes under the 45minute delivery rule! Definitely worth a visit!

Me and my partner left it too late to book our favourite restaurant and was frantically searching for somewhere to celebrate new year. We found this place online and booked it. Well we have absolutely no complaints at all. Food was amazing, staff were great and drinks were reasonably priced. The spring rolls, chill beef and capital ribs are to die for. We loved it here and even took a menu home so we can use them as our new delivery service. Great night and a great find!

Friendly welcome. Food excellent with some favourites on menu with additional dishes off traditional menu and could not resist fresh pork belly offered which was delicious abd along with Crispy cooked turbot was a highlight of the meal.Every dish tastes different and authentic (not like experience at another Chinese in Romford where all dishes seemed to have the same base sauce).Look forward to return visit soon.

My husband and I go to this Chinese restaurant most weeks and are never disappointed. The staff are always friendly, helpful and attentive. We are always given lots of time to decide which dishes to order and after each course asked if we are ready for the next or would we like a little resting time. The menu is extensive so has something for everyone and a good wine and drinks list. The price is very good for food and drinks so will suit all pockets. Would we recommend this restaurant absolutely.

Hi me and my family went to this restaurant on the 26th oct 20016 it was a Wednesday evening to celebrate my sisters birthday, well where do I begin !!!! Firstly we were a party of 9 and the place was supposed to open at 6 . My sister the birthday girl was standing outside at 6.10 and not open still . The rest of the party arrived to be greeted with a very rude lady telling them to SIT THERE ! Pointing to a seat just inside the door while she got the table ready . We were seated and given the menu with no smile might I add actually she had a face like thunder as if we were putting her out ! We all ordered 5, of which ordered a set menus the rest including a child of 4 ordered separately , the service was very poor indeed the starters came they wasn't a problem until the main courses began to arrive noting we were the only people in the restaurant nobody else was in there empty other than us !!!!! A small dish of rice arrived for my mother and her lamb dish then some of the main set menus arrive very slowly very unorganised to say the least then a small bowl arrived when we asked the lady with the cross face who's that was she rudely said it's the set menu rice we asked if there was going to be more rice for the 5 people who had ordered the set menu as we had split the rice and noodles so had ordered enough rice for 2 and noodles for 3 because we had been told we could pick noodles or rice . We were told no that is for 2 we explained that this bowl was tiny and the same as the portion for 1 person and it could not possibly feed 2 we were rudely told that is it and when the rest of the dishes came out it was the same crispy chilli beef was supposed to feed 5 and there was the smallest plate brought over we complained but was met with nothing but rudeness hence we didn't eat the Chinese and my sisters birthday was ruined we payed the bill and left we declined our afters and coffee and was not even apologised to the bull was not itemised also so you could not check the bill the card machine was playing up and we were over charged the lady could not add up we had to add up for her ! All in all a discraceful excuse for a restaurant being as we were the ONLY customers you would have thought they would have been keen to please but totally the opposite we all felt like we were putting them out serving us it's a shame because we were going to order bottles of champagne but we left after about three quarters of an hour all still hungry and telly upset . No wonder the restaurant was empty don't go no atmosphere at all and made to feel really uncomfortable , rude staff . Go to the Chinese restaurant along the road from there doesn't look nice from outside but friendly atmosphere and really nice food will not ever use the pearl dragon again !!! If you work in Romford like my sister does don't go there especially for work doos awfull !!!!!! Pick elsewhere .

We use to eat here many years ago always excellent food and friendly attentive staff - we moved from area so lost touch with the Pearl Dragon but we returned last Friday and had the best Chinese meal we have eaten in years - defiantly was worth the journey and will be going back this weekend - amazing food lovely friendly staff!!!

I had visited the Pearl Dragon a couple of years ago and had enjoyed the food so was a bit in two minds after reading a couple of not so good reviews last week. But we took the chance and I must say that the food was just as good as before and the staff were very attentive. In one of the reviews the Lady who runs the restaurant came in for stick as unfriendly but I didn't find this the case. At the end of the night when she found out it was my wife's Birthday she even gave her and my baby grandchild a little present. The restaurant has been re decorated since my last visit so looked fresh and clean. I was however really surprised that it was not busy at all and wonder if the reason was through the bad reviews hence the posting of this one. Thanks Pearl Dragon for a lovely meal.

My partner and I arrived at 5.55 p.m. for our booked 6 p.m. appointment. Sadly, the owner was stuck in traffic so was 10 mins late opening. However, once inside we were given great treatment.Food was delicious - served very hot and placed on a Lazy Susan.The only other negatives are:-NO WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE LOOSAND FAIRLY EXPENSIVE.However, we will go again.

I visited the restaurant with my wife and her family, her parents were celebrating their 63rd wedding anniversary, which is quite a milestone for anyone. We were greeted by friendly welcoming staff and shown to a spacious well situated table, my in laws have frequented this venue on a few occasions so they were comfortable and happy with the menu. We were served drinks and left to ponder the menu, everyone chose their particular preference and the food was served reasonably promptly. Although I am not a big fan of chinese food, I must admit that the quality of the food was good, the surroundings were pleasant enough if a little dated, however, we all enjoyed what proved to be a very agreeable evening.

We visited here for the first time with friends and we had a very nice time. The food was very nice and very hot, the service was quick and they were very polite. It was £20 per head, Chinese food is not very cheap in a restaurant but this was worth the money. It was clean in there and nicely decorated in there.

We went to this restaurant by chance as we were planning to get some take away from next door but when we reached to the take away we found out they never open for lunch so we sat down to have lunch at Pearl dragon instead. We found out the chicken items are halal that's good for us as we are muslims and there is not many restaurants in Romford that does that. Pleasant atmosphere, we were the only customers on a Saturday lunch time and it looked like a traditional family run business. The food was good. I ordered some fried seafood and ask to have the garlic sauce which was very nice. Also loved their crab corn soup so much I regularly get it for take away. Planning to celebrate my birthday at this restaurant this weekend, this will be my second visit for eating in, hope I am not dissapoited.

Food is average. The service is HORRIBLE. My review is not about the food. Few months ago:I went there to order takeaway, while i was waiting for the food i changed my mind and decided to have a beer. The ordered food was delivered to my table and i was still having my drink. I asked the staff if i can have the starters i ordered along with my drink, its one thing to say no, the lady was proper rude and shouted at me saying she charged me less for the starters because she thought it was takeaway and now if i want to eat it here i have to pay £1 more. I was shocked, i mean i don't know what kind of people she sees everyday but she cannot shout on a customer like this for £1. I was embarrassed and i left leaving £2 on the table and half of my beer. It should have been a lesson for me, and i should have never gone there again, but i did. Today evening:I almost forgot about the last incident and i went there to order the takeaway today. People who could not care for their customers guess will never change, the lady who runs the place (same one who argued with me last time) literally stopped me while i was trying to ask her if i can order a takeaway and started asking if i will come back to collect the takeaway. I wasn't sure what she was talking about, clearly she mistook me for someone else who have come there ordered food and didn't turn up to collect it. I said it wasn't me, and she started yelling saying i know its you but anyways do you want the food? Obviously i left after telling her that it wasn't me and even if someone did that they probably would have a right reason for doing something like that. Ofcoruse i left and am not going there again. Its upto you guys whether you want to go there or not, just saying what happened to me can happen to anyone.

I didn 't feel like going to a Chinese as I expected greasy food, but as my husband told me , it wasn't greasy at all. As a starter we had the platter for 2. Everything tasted good .My husband had the beef curry, which he enjoyed. I had the sweet and sour pork , which was lovely as well.

I have visited this place with my partner a few times now because the food is nice. They do a 'all you can eat' menu on a Monday to Thursday but I wouldn't recommend going for this as you can be made to feel quite uncomfortable when wanting to order more. If you're the sort of person who doesn't mind being in a situation like this then go ahead and order from the 'all you can eat' menu and as much as you like! They shouldn't do this offer if they are going to have a problem with customers wanting more. If you just fancy a nice chinese I would order a take away as its slightly cheaper and you can eat comfortably in your own home without being made to feel uncomfortable.

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal her and especially recommend the crispy duck! They make everyone feel welcome whether you go for chopsticks or not and very reasonably priced too.

This is my forth visit excellent food and great service would thoroughly recomend.Although they were not busy on any of my visits and do not know what the service would be like when they are the food is still to good to miss.

I recently visited the Pearl Dragon with my family on the Saturday 4th April 2015, we arrived quite late in the evening and were delighted with the quality of food, quantity of food and the speed and quality of service. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. From what is a humble looking restaurant from the outside, you can expect to receive exquisite cuisine up to the highest standards.Definitely will be visiting again.

Im Trying to think what was worse , The Service or the State of the floor ! Which was baldy worn in Places & had Probably more food on it than what we actually Ate all night !we were a Family of 4 arrived at about 8.05pm and left at 9.50pm .After waiting Long Enough for starters & then ages for our Main Meal, food eventually came to our table only to find it was not ours but the Table next to us , Easy mistake to make i guess !. So after getting bored of watching everyone else being served we decided to call this young Waiter over & ask for the bill for the starters & not to bother with our main meal , he just replied ok as if it was a common thing that happens there & went to the counter to write it out , as he handed us the bill a women came to us & saidnot to go as our meal was coming now ! but we told her we were going as we had waited to long , so we promptly left.Still on the Plus side we don't live to far from the Pearl Dragon , so was home in no time & had something to eat.." JOB DONE ".

We visited this restaurant with a couple of friends and were absolutely delighted we chose to eat here. It is a nice sized traditional Chinese restaurant with a good atmosphere where you can chat and relax. The staff are all very polite, welcoming and friendly.The menu is quite extensive with some great set meals which are particularly good value. The service is really good and the food is of a high standard.We would recommend eating here!

Well where to start..myself & my partner decided to go for a meal on a Sunday evening. Sat down at 6.20pm and ordered 2 soft drinks & 3 starters. At 7.35pm we where still waiting for the starters.. The restaurant had 3 other tables and one teenage boy working as waiter. He generally was avoiding our table as he knew the food was over an hour and 15 minutes late! Finally another table asked him to go over to us and he said our food would be another 15 minutes without even an apology . We said we where leaving as we had been waiting so long, we where hungry and no one had even been over to tell us it would be late or to apologies! We left and as we where walking to the car the boy runs after us telling us we need to pay for our cokes!!! To which I explained to him he had no right to ask us to pay for a coke considering it was flat and I hadn't drunk mine, my partner had drunk his! He was extremely rude and shouted in my face that he was making us pay for the cokes, my partner stood in front of me and explained to him that he should go back and get the manager and we would talk to them! He told us there was no manager!! (What establishment doesn't have a manager!!!) I told him If I had had a glass of wine I would of paid! I had a £1 coke which was flat & I didn't even drink! After another 5 minutes of him going on and on we walked away! How totally ridiculous .. I have never experienced such shocking service as a teenager running a restaurant and running after customers shouting down the street !! NEVER EVER AGAIN!!'

Went there on the night England played football! Quiet as quiet.....only people in there! As ever the food was great, service friendly and we enjoyed ourselves :-)

Lovely food & friendly service. If you go Sun - Thurs they do an eat as much as you want for a set price (about £16 if I remember rightly). All the food is freshly cooked, not a buffet.

This restaurant is my go-to Chinese in Romford. Their food is certainly better than other nearby Chinese, but not necessarily mind-blowing. It is better to order for take-away rather than sit down, as service can sometimes be hit-or-miss, even when it's rather empty inside.

My family and I have been regulars at pearl dragon for over 5 years. We are a Chinese family and have been to countless Chinese restaurants over the years in London, Essex, Cambridge and even China! And yet this is still our favourite- quite authentic and yet delicious for western tastes. Good value too although if you want to splash out you can always get lobster noodles- yum!
