When Paul had the chippy people were queuing outside went tonight no one in and I went at peak time my god the chips were awful no wonder no one was in I wudnt even give um my dog won’t b going again

Never tried this place decent fish and chips at a decent price especially in the current climate. Definitely recommend and will use again.

charged me extra for chips that they didnt even give me. need to do the orders properly and listen more carefully.

Food always hot and chips are perfect and fluffy, employees are lovely and kind. Very chatty and provide a 10/10 service

Called here off chance as I was passing one Saturday Lunchtime The guy behind the counter was very chatty and really pleasant I ordered Fish & Chips with a carton of peas and carton of gravy The whole thing was excellent The Fish & chips where possibly the nicest I’ve ever had from a Chippy Superb Will definitely call again 👍

I have been frequenting Paul’s chippy since Paul owned it and I must say I have noticed a drastic change. The food now is one of the best in the area, and especially when compared to when Paul owned where I have been served sub-par standards of fish before. Never once have I had a bad meal from Paul’s Chippy since the new management have been established, the portion sizes are always perfect and the fish is always cooked to perfection. I would recommend to anyone who is in search of a great fish and chip shop.

I work at Paul's Chippy and I have just been reading the reviews. When Paul had the chippy he used frozen fish and we carried food over to the next day. I can honestly say all peas curry and gravy left over at end of day is now thrown away not reused. No chips are carried over to the next day and it is a much better place to work

What's happened with this place chips all scrappy meat pie microwaved too long n hard no jumbo sausage so u get 2 small yet pay 2.40 for them both rip off absolutely no food stuff in warmer at all and a smile doesn't go a miss

Changed owner.now these are disgusting.worst chippy in bolton.been there twice just In case the first time was a one off.these won't last long

Now under new ownership and honestly very poor. Tasteless chips like they were yesterday’s warmed up. Soggy fish, zero taste peas. Dog age 90% of my meal it was that bad. Hoped it would be as it was when Paul owned it, won’t be going again

I am sad to say that this Chippy is a shadow of its former self. We have always loved Paul’s Chippy and never minded the queue to get in. However alarm bells rang when we arrived at Paul’s for our rare Fish and Chips treat to no queue, I discovered that the chippy is under new ownership and decided to give it a try. Needless to say we won’t be returning the fish and the chips were very very greasy, the fish and the peas tasteless, I am gutted as this was my favourite Chippy.

"Bad" is to good for this chippy it has changed hands. New owners throwing food around.Got home fish not cooked full of cold fat totaly not edible. I was that annoyed drove back across Bolton. To return it for full refund. Stay away from this shop...It's really bad. Should Not be using Paul's good name ..

Just called in and ordered fish and chips, fish and peas, chip barm and sausage and chips. Arrived home to be faced with the worst chips ever. They were dry, hard, overcooked and tasted awful. Nobody would eat them. £15 wasted and never again.

Called today and had gone out my way to visit the shop.....no sign of Paul anymore and have since found out he has gone.... .Pity because the fish was awful ..undercooked and sloppy batter on the fish..hardly edible chips were greasy and luke warm....All in all a very poor offering.......Was so looking forward to Pauls fish n chips but alas not to be.....very disappointed......

Sad to see Paul has left it was a brilliant chippy. Bought fish n chops today may 6th. Look warm re heated chips and the fish was tasteless.

had pudding and chips on Wednesday 5th may ,chips cold and were reheated ,pudding cold ,will not be going again .shame Paul is not still there,nice friendly man and woz always nice food.the name on the door should change ,people may think he is still running this business

This is no longer Paul's chippy despite the name. Its seriously gone down the nick. The fish is no longer fresh, we live nearby and have seen frozen fish being delivered.

Been here a few times recently after reading good reviews. Excellent fish and chips. Succulent fish, light batter and delicious chips..not greasy at all. Delicious.

I've had fish and chips from "Paul's" (he's no longer there) chippy and both times i've been VERY disappointed, I totally agree with everything that Karen said in a recent review, plus i would add that the fish no longer has the distinctive flavour of haddock that REAL Paul's always had.IMO the chips had been reheated, they certainly had that had collapsed look & feel as well as being cold.How sad, one less brilliantly chippy in the world.

Been to Paul's chippy a couple of times over the last 3 weeks, paul wasn't there and the food was not up to the usual standard. The batter on the fish was under cooked and soggy, the chips were overcooked and cold. Very disappointing wont be going again. On one visit there was a dog in the shop, was surprised to see this, although I must admit it didn't bother me

Yes changed hand got fish and chips with mushy peas not the same fish had a bit of a smell to it chips looked and tastes like refried from yesterday asked for extra salt and vinegar came with none 😔😔😔😔

Has this place changed hands. Not as good as normal. Quite disappointed, and there was no sign of Paul. May give it a miss in future

Well what can I say, Pauls Chippy has to be the best chippy in Bolton! Just had a delivery to Harwood and, the food was hot, was delivered on time and the fish, chips, mushy peas and a carton of curry sauce was superb. I can highly recommend and will definitely be ordering again.

I wanted to give this chippy a try due to all the good reviews. However, I wouldn’t be going back again for several reasons. The owner was creepy towards me. Not impressed with his behaviour towards me at all and made my skin crawl. Arrogant and full of himself would best describe it. Secondly the food tasted like it had been fried again. It was soaked in cold oil and the chips just had that taste and feeling you get when they are cold. I’ll be returning back to ‘Chips R Us’ where good service falls in with the good food.

Hang on. That can't be right. I'm not religious.So it must be that I've been to Paul's Chippy for mt lunch.The fish really are heaven though. Huge flakes of beautifully cooked haddock (which is a sustainable fish) in an amazingly light yet crisp batter (perfectly cooked to order) with a big bag of lovely chips. I really pigged out today, i also had some "fish pieces", the trimmings from when the fish were prepared. Think of these as what Fish Finger would be in a perfect world but real fish (not bits compressed together) and about eight or nine inches long. Trust me, a couple of these folded so they fit on a buttered barm with salt an vinegar would make the best ever breakfast. Forget a bacon or sausage barm, this is what I would want if i was being shot at dawn. I wonder if Paul would consider opening early?

We have just been to Paul’s Chippy for the first time tonight and the fish & chips were absolutely fabulous! Thoroughly recommend!! We will be back 👍

Not been for a while as I had moved but was in the area so decided to check out again, had fish, chips and peas, fish was fantastic and the chips were spot on, not greasy and proper chippy chips, will have to make more trips past here as I forgot how important a good chippy is.

You always know it's a good chippy when the que is out the door and people in in cars cars are stopping you on the road to ask directions to eat,fantastic chippy and great friendly service

Several visits and have to say how nice the staff are. Paul’s normally at the counter working hard and service very good. Very much worth a try and will think once tried would be back again for more. 10/10 for effort and finally finding somewhere that’s decent.

Paul's chippy was recommended to me be a friend a while ago. Just bobbed in for fish & chips wow they were good. Will defo call in again when in the area live to far away for 'chippy tea'.😥

We visit Paul's Chippy every week. It's not the nearest, in fact it is a 14 mile round trip, but well worth the journey. Have tried all the food he sells, not just the fish and chips and we have never been disappointed. It must be 10 years since we paid our first visit and often get fish and chips for some of our neighbours. Keep up the good work, Paul!

best english chippy around , hard to find decent english chippy, chips are cooked to perfection crispy outside fluffy inside, normally call in when delivering in the area,trying to make it more often lolstaff are spot on and very friendly and helpful always chatty and smiling , and paul always seems spot on aswell cant fault the place

Fish freshly cooked when you walk in, fast service and lovely, warm & friendly staff. This is the best chippy for miles around and worth a drive to it. The fish is the nicest you’ll get in Bolton and the scallops are divine! Top notch establishment

This place can’t be beaten for the best fish and chips. The fish is the size of a whale and always freshly cooked as you walk in. Mention football to Paul and you’re on to a winner.

Just been to Paul's to get fish and chips this chippy is by far the best not just in Bolton I'd say the North West staff are friendly Paul is a great guy.. But the real show stopper is the food the fish are absolutely massive beautiful crispy batter and pure white fresh cod. The chips are fantastic love this place thanks guys keep up the good work

Just visiting the area on business and fancied a night in at the hotel. I decided on Fish & Chips and past Paul’s Chippy on my way from work.

They don't do scallops down south and my visiting brother wanted a decent chippy to get some. We ordered fish and chips, chip muffin, sausage and chips and the scallops and it was all fresh and delicious. Fish was large size and we ordered 8 scallops between the family and they gave us about 12 in total as they said there were some small ones in there, but they were all massive couldn't finish it all! Friendly service from the family members working in there.

Paul is always there with a smile and time to chat. Not too sure about another review not getting lightly battered fish but Paul has always been accommodating when I ask for my fish to be lightly battered. Portions of chips are big and the fish is huge cant complain as its really good value for money and well worth a visit if you are passing. Like another reviewer said Paul's isn't open often enough but well worth the wait in the end.

Every time we visit this chippy we always feel welcome , fish cooked to order and very large portions always asked if we are ok

Well.... all I did was ask for a lightly batted fish. The owner told me if I don't want what he's making I should go somewhere else.... a bit of a hot head.... I went somewhere else and will not be going anywhere near this chippy again..

Always great chips and tasty food...my only gripe is they always forget to put vinegar on when u ask them....but long will i continue to go.

This must be the best chip shop in the whole of the UK. Good portion size and extremely good value for money . Freshly cooked crispy battered fish, plenty of chips with lashings of salt and vinegar. Good friendly staff and Paul on hand as well cooking. The only draw back he is not open enough. So catch him when open and have a treat. Excellent all round well done.

The fish and chips here are always tasty and fresh. I only get to visit this establishment once a year if I'm lucky as I live abroad and don't visit Bolton frequently. But this is always one of the places I have to go if I'm in town. Plus Paul is great at chatting up the middle aged ladies such as me - in the nicest possible way!

Always top notch fish and chips and you can have a bit of banter with the staff. Local to us so call in regularly.

I know everyone thinks their local chippy is the best, but I'm pretty sure this one is the best around. The chips are good and the fish is even better. I've taken several friends here and they all love it. The portions are great and the price is right too.

My 82yr old Dad (getting very forgetful) visits Pauls every Friday tea. He loves the food (great fish & chips), chatting in the chippy with everyone, and the 'Friday Routine'. A local business that really takes care of their customers (like Pauls wife taking my dad home in her car in the pouring rain). Thank you all x

This chippy is the best one for miles, it's always busy and a few times I've been asked for directions to it off people who have heard of the reputation and want to try it and I'm sure they wasn't disappointed, I have never been dispatched myself
