We visited on a Friday evening and we felt very welcome. Good selection of very good beers at the bar. Reasonable prices. A good atmosphere from the what I assume is the regular crowd. Friendly bar staff.

Only been here once before and after a gig in the muni. Nice Larger here and a older generation seem to drink here. So ideal if you want to avoid the younger crowed and want a decent pint at a good price.

Strange little pub, full of loud, drunk men in their 50s and 60s, swearing and acting aggressively at the bar. Good beer, but not for the faint hearted. Depressing atmosphere when I was last there, a group of elderly, dead-eyed men were sitting together away from the bar, drinking heavily, drowning their sorrows.

I'll just say if you love Beer , the type without added gas and comes from a hand pump then this is the place for you. However the ambiance may not be to everyone's liking.

Muy ruidoso por día. Mejor por la noche. Marido dice buena cerveza pero él pone fuera de música tomando una copa allí

On a recent visit to Ponty from Hampshire I could not wait to go to the wonky bar as I have been there 3 times before and love the place. Not everyones cup of tea I must admit, but what a place. Atmosphere, fantastic choice of some of the finest ales I have ever drunk and at such a great price. Also fantastic staff. As I said I now live in Hampshire but if I could take someone from here to sample a real valleys pub it would be the wonky bar.

Known to everyone as 'The Wonky Bar' it has a daytime trade that publicans anywhere would envy. Lots are ex Teddy Boys left over from another millennium who still think jiving is a new fangled dance craze they are harmless crinklies decanting memories of a Pontypridd most would never remember. Booze cheap and guzzable. Atmosphere may feel intimidating at first but gets better after the first 2 or 3 pints. Then it doesn't matter that most of the women could get a pickled onions caught in between their teeth. Good fun!

Been here a few times, I enjoy the banter and atmosphere, it's best to go there after you've had a few drinks first, and especially if there's a crowd of you. It is known as the Wonky Bar. No food served here. Some get nibbles from Iceland opposite and eat them there, no problem with that. Great juke box, don't expect quiet.

This is a pub, plain and simple. It's an awful one too, that you had better lower your standards for. You know, without asking (just as well, few people I met were intelligible), that they bitterly resent the smoking ban here more than anywhere else.

What an odd place to put a bar. It really is just a converted shop and feels in the wrong place. Having said that the Rhymney beers are great. Not big, very little seating but i have to say ideal if you're going up to the Muni for a gig.

The Patriot Bar has been nicknamed 'The Wonky' by the locals. It may not be everyone's taste, but they have a good selection of real ales and a friendly atmosphere. It alway's seems to be fairly full throughout the day, maybe because it is quite small. I have only ever visited in the evening & Phil the owner is always willing to chat to you. Warning, the export will blow your head off.
