Patisserie Valerie in Havering

This was such a disappointment and the worst afternoon tea I have ever had. I definately will not be coming back and the price of £36 for 2 people is extortionate for the items I received. The service was mediocre and I was surprised that they did not even bother to ask if we had any allergies. The sandwiches were pre-made and the you could not choose the fillings which were ham, chicken, cucumber, these had been stored in the fridge so the bread was a little dry. There was also no choice of cakes and these tasted like they were not fresh and were falling over on the plate. I opted for coffee which they reheated as it was lukewarm.

My friend and I had afternoon tea today and it was lovely. Fresh sandwiches with a good variety and yummy cakes. Well presented. We took some cakes home as was full. The lady in charge Alena was a joy. Very helpful without being rushed. Friendly service. Would highly reconmend.

I have visited Romford branch and It was an awful experience and poor treatment from the waitresses. The café owner must change the waitresses or be careful about treating customers in a civilized manner. I visited the café twice and during both visits the treatment was horrible. I decided not to visit the café again.

Just had an absolutely terrible lunch at this branch. Croque was like eating rubber. Club sandwich bland and stale. Could not complain as treating family including a toddler and new born. Still feeling sick and should never have eaten it. Plus a terrible smell of smoking coming from rear staff room! Service good. I have sent receipt to complaints department. They asked me for time and server both of which are clearly on the receipt. They obviously did not bother to look. Absolute disgrace.

Had a cream tea here before. And had two drinks with cream tea. This time only got one drink and in groupon it percificatly says two drinks. The lady who served us first was very nice and said when we were ready for our second cup to let them know. When we were ready we asked Valentino who was adamate we were only allowed one. She was very rude and needs teaching how to speak to the general public. She said things have changed and only allowed one drink. So why are you selling on groupon a drink and a refill drink. I think you will find you are giving out false information and Valentino is a very rude lady. Will not be returning here

I had a really beautiful day as I went to patisserie Valeria . A staff member called Miranda was so wonderful with us , as she find us table and made us a perfect coffee and hot chocolate. Her service was amazing. So good to have this kind of people as customers service ❤️

Booked afternoon tea for 24 family & friends to celebrate my husbands 65th birthday. Food & drinks were plentiful and dietary requirements catered for. The tables were set out for us on arrival and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their visit. Would highly recommend.

Enjoyed afternoon tea with friends. Excellent service and sandwiches, cakes and scones were delicious. All tea/coffee as well as bottles of water. Customer service excellent able to cater for dietary needs. Was a large group of us (22) was impressed with organisation and wait time. Good option for large groups without having to leave deposit etc Excellent value as we used ‘buy a gift’ vouchers which was two afternoon teas for £25. Could not fault at all.

I got bought a celebratory afternoon tea and phoned ahead in advance to ask about the sandwiches as my partner has a plain palette. I was told she could have a meat or veg option. The veg option containing brie and goats cheese which neither of us would eat. I wasnt asked of any dietary requirements. In a previous visit a year or so ago the staff were more accommodating to our request. This visit was so far removed from that visit! after a long wait we were miserably greeted and my partner asked again at the till if we could have ham/mayo rather than ham/mustard mayo or just plain ham. We were(after going away) told "yes that should be fine". Once seated we were then told this wasn't possible and offered one option only, a cheese sandwich. When this arrived we discovered it was a wet cheese(like a mozzarella-a weird sandwich filling)which we dont eat.when questioned why it wasn't just a plain cheddar the server returned with a tub of cheese slices and made a plain cheese sandwich(no condiments offered) we ended up 'giving up' on the sandwiches. The waitress never came back to ask if everything was ok, the scones were quite hard and only 1 tiny tub of clotted cream for 4 scones! We thought this a mistake but no one came near nor by for us to ask. So we literally had 1 scone each and took the other 2 away to buy our own cream/jam once home. The tiny profiteroles (1 bite big) tasted stale. The small slithers of chocolate cake were the 1 redeeming feature that were nice. We left the store disappointed, hungry and annoyed-was meant to be a celebratory experience! I've never left an afternoon tea hungry! Customer service was so poor and the manager (I'm guessing) who was sat working on her laptop not far away oblivious-she certainly didn't come over/address issues we raised at the start. We certainly expected better than what we received/paid for, good money for cheap bread/margarine, poor choice of sandwich fillings(cucumber and butter being one of the 3!), limited choice of 1 alternative sandwich and miserable serving staff. Am shocked to read the creative 'amazing' reviews, I personally wouldn't be wasting my time writing if it hadn't been so disappointing.😪

Came to Patisserie Valerie for Afternoon tea, Miranda provided an excellent service! Miranda was attentive and made sure we had a pleasant experience.

Amazing experience with afternoon tea. We had Alina and Miranda served us, both very friendly and polite. Sandwiches were lovely and had variety of options, the scone was very tasty and was still warm when served, even 2 different flavour of conserve served with it. Lovely variety of cakes as well. The tea served was fab as well, fresh and flavourful. You get 3x refill which was amazing as I got to have a cup of coffee and pot of tea. Husband and I enjoyed the experience and will definitely recommend for a chilled afternoon tea.

Visited here today with family and was served by Miranda. We all had the afternoon tea. Everything was freshly prepared and tasted wonderful. The scones were still warm and cakes were varied. Miranda was always on hand to offer more tea for free if needed and all this at a very competitive price.

The person taking the order (manager) was rude and curt and ruined the experience before you even start. I would not go back.

Me and my family went into Patisserie Valerie for afternoon tea and were given exceptional customer service from all members of staff at the store. The service was quick which was very good. All members of staff made sure that we were taken good care of and if we needed any refills they were taken care of straight away.

Went today 4 the first time for a birthday treat and was pleasantly suprised never visited this brand store before and had a lively time . Two of us arrived at 1.15pm with newborn grandson. Ordered afternoon tea as a treat for £25. They forgot about us and it actually arrived 50 minutes later !!!! We rushed to be at a clinic appointment 2.30pm . The sandwiches were underwhelming and horrible and the cakes were miniature, and dried up. Included were 4 small scones, two pots of jam and cream(very stingy). The place was extremely hot to top it all. Such a rip off. Couldn't wait to leave.

We went as a family. We waited 40 mins for our afternoon tea. (It was £25 for afternoon tea for 2... not brilliant). When we asked where it was (2 year old was desperate for her cake!). Eventually it came. No apology. We complained as the few sandwiches that were there, were dry. We complained. We had a sigh and sandwiches eventually appeared. Incredibly slow to initially order, staff not attentive, and really poor service. Not recommended at all. You would have thought if our Order was forgotten there might have been some awareness of customer service.

For those who have watched the "friends" series would know what I am taking about. My friends and I often hang out here. The staff are very friendly, atmosphere cozy and my coffee is always made perfect to my taste and whats really nice is the staff remember, which makes me feel special. I travel a lot and wherever I go I compare to pat val coffee and give marks. None have come to par...yet.
