Has reopened after COVID and now there is Susi who is running it with her German delicacies, i.e. Prezel Buns with fillings which are lovely and gorgeous cakes, one of them being Poppyseed and Blueberries with a Chocolate icing which was so yummy with my delicious Flat White Coffee and all very reasonably priced. It is opposite Iceland in Westbourne open Monday to Friday. There is a little eating area at the back which is delightful in the warmer months.

Forget the rest. This is the best. Patisserie Angelique is not your bog-standard British patisserie. It is genuine. Unlike the overwhelming majority of the so-called patisseries in the UK, where all the products are made in some distant factory, all the exquisite pastries, cakes, wraps and croissants etc, are produced on-site at Patisserie Angelique by Phillipe Daniel. Phillipe is a French qualified pâtissier and glacier. His pastries are to absolutely to die for. Where else can you find that in the UK outside London? They even take commissions for bespoke cakes. In addition to the pastries etc you can also have a standard British breakfast. The frontage is not large but it goes back quite a way. An added bonus to the marvellous food is that Phillipe and Toby are a treat in themselves. They have a personal touch, friendly, relaxed and there is a slightly gallic atmosphere about the place; all of this is hard to find these days. Saturday morning is ‘Patisserie Angelique day’ for us – a coffee and a pastry. We would not miss a trip there on Saturday morning for the world. After a visit there you come away thinking that the world is a nicer place.

We were just passing by and a very friendly gentleman said that we should come in! Well why not? We are so pleased that we did. It was cosy and warm, it had interesting features, such as two trains running around their tracks. The cakes looked amazing but we had just had a large hotel breakfast so couldn't manage one. The cappuccino was delicious. However, most of all the ambience and the conversation with the proprietor and many of his customers were so fab. Have been here before several times for coffee and mille feuille which has always been very good ... but sadly this time visiting for lunch was disappointing. The croque-monsieur was not freshly made. In fact seemed stale! (and/or, possibly re-heated). Also the quirky train track above us was just plain annoying - never noticed it before as we’ve always chosen the outside seating (at back of cafe). Would return ... but only for the patisserie (and would definitely chose to sit outside to avoid the silly train noises).

Appearance of the restaurant and the menu give the distinct appearance of a true French bistro. However, the poor service and just acceptable quality of the food quickly destroys this illusion. The food is OK for the price but represents a quality that, unfortunately, was acceptable in the UK some years ago. The service was chaotic and slow although the staff were cheerful. On previous visits this location has always been packed. On this visit, a weekday lunch time it was nearly empty. I suspect our experience was not a one off but I have no proof of this.

This is a real gem. It’s surprisingly much larger than you first think, as it has a courtyard out the back in addition to the seating outside the front as well. The coffee is smooth and the hand made cakes, which are the creation of one of the owners, are delightful. The other owner is more front of house and will happily sit with you and pass the time chatting about whatever topic you like. The first time I came here, I was with my mother, who wanted to show me this great little cafe she had found, with fabulous cakes. She and I had really delicious cakes and left with a good impression of the cafe. Apart from the terrible art work on the wall! Lots of black and white photos- very arty, but who wants to eat decadent cakes whilst sitting next to a massive photo of a starving, homeless person sleeping rough? They could really do with changing the artwork on the walls!Back to the cakes.. the cakes are really good. The cream tea is rubbish - don't bother. Unfortunately, when I took my husband there, to show him how wonderful it was, it really wasn't. It was 4:30 and they closed at 5, but the staff were solely focused on closing up. There were no cakes, which is why we went for the cream teas. Mistake: mediocre scones, minimal (stingy) cream and jam. So, indifferent, disinterested staff, no cakes, dreadful cream teas. Quite frankly, I'm not inclined to give it a third try. There are other nice cafes in Westbourne and I'd rather go there.

We went to Angelique for lunch and ordered very simple food - sandwiches and salads. We waited a long time for our food. The waitresses apologised saying that the chef (the owner) was overrun. I find this surprising as most of the people in the café were just having drinks and cakes served from the counter and there were few diners who required food to be prepared in the kitchen. I actually felt sorry for the waitresses as they took the complaints from the customers yet it was the chef (who is the owner) who was responsible for the slow service. Also the food was very disappointing - basic and small. I wouldn't rush back here.

There are 5 course if you include the palate cleansing course, and you take your own wine, which is a big plus-there is no corkage. The cost of the meal is £30.00 per head with a limited choice of food, but with a vegetarian option. All the food that we had was beautifully cooked, very fresh and hot; the main course being a choice of hake or guinea fowl which were both good. The parsnip soup that we had was delicious as were the starters and puddings. There could have been some bread with the soup which would have helped to bulk out the meal a little, but otherwise I couldn't fault the meal. I would recommend trying Angelique, I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

Not a big cake eater so try to opt for a smaller sweet treat. Have been many times but their service is very poor lately. I am big on customer service and work in the industry. I would NEVER ignore a customer...just give a quick word to put them at ease if busy..with a smile. Last few occasions it has been lacking. Today walked out. Was overlooked service after having seated myself in their glorious conservatory for near enough 10 mins. Another couple came in and were served immediately...How rude...Makes you feel not very good as if you are not important enough. I made a comment and (normally nice/friendly) waiter snapped at me..saying I had not been waiting that long!!! Does that matter!!!I would have thought the point was that I was seated before the couple.Another time waiting to pay (at counter) was completed ignored whilst proprietors talking to clients...Poor waitrose running back and forth trying to please...

Posto fantastico!

went in for some of their scrumptious patisserie, but was let down by what they are doing at lunch time by serving roast dinners, fried fish, etc. which doesn't match their patisserie selection and the place ponged of greasy cooking. Please drop this ridiculous idea and go back to what you are good at. Not now recommended.

Oh dear - what's happened? This used to be so enjoyable, and arranging to meet a friend here mid afternoon I was confident it would be good. Sadly, not so. The service was all over the place. We were badgered to order by several staff before we had even properly sat down - and then when we had ordered my friend had an interminable wait for a pot of tea let alone the Croque Monsieur she had ordered. (I had already drunk a large latte before her tea arrived and the food arrived even later) We reminded them twice about the order. When the food finally arrived it wasn't good. No one bothered to ask how the food was, either.Better service and food nearly everywhere else in Westbourne. I won't be going back.

I've got a bit of a thing about Macaroons at the moment, and the ones at Angelique are amazing, so delicious, never eaten in so can't comment on staff or ambience, but can rate the Macaroons and almond croissant - Scrumptious

Used to enjoy coming to this cafe when two Chinese lads were waiting there. They are long gone I think. Service was unfriendly and seemed almost to much trouble. Now the friendly atmosphere has changed. The cakes are nice but oh so samey. Plenty of other Cafes to enjoy in vibrant Westboune.

I came here on 40th Birthday where my family joined me and came to this place after a long journey. I had a fresh choux bun and coffee and another member had a quiche and we were impressed. Coffee was lovely, settings were great. The cakes were fresh and tasted like they were made in France. Service was great, we were served by Polish guy who was very pleasent and helpful. Loved the back part, real peaceful

Having walked into Bournemouth and just wanting something simple for lunch we spotted this establishment. My wife had one of their pastries and I opted for scrambled egg and smoked salmon. Both were good as was the service.

Small frontage, but lots of room inside, plus a rear garden with dining under cover. Lunch specials range is good and high quality, and the range of cakes is superb too. Service is friendly and fast, so it's really hard to fault this lovely restaurant (disguised as a patisserie)

I had been "let out" for the holidays! And shopping in Westbourne was the order of the day. Having arrived really early I was tempted by the window display or gorgeous looking cakes at Angelique and the fact that the sun was shining on the outside seating! A nice guy who turned out to be the owner welcomed me in, on his soap box about something so we had some banter, and I like that interaction with places I visit. So it was a good start...I ordered a croissant filled with scrambled egg and smoked salmon and a latte, both of which were lovely, the croissant clearly freshly prepared and delicious. This was early saturday morning and the clientele were obviously regulars. The owner was chatty to everyone arriving and leaving and clearly well known in the street. It seemed a really popular and well liked place. Im just glad I do not live nearby because I dont have enough will-power to say "no" to those gorgeous looking cakes!!

I pop along for a bowl of basil soup every now and then. The soup is freshly made and has a luscious consistency and topped with a dollop of garlic butter. Superb on cold grey days. This entitles me to savour one of the delectable french pastries also made on the premises. A slightly old fashioned atmosphere in a kind and gentile way.
