I came here for dinner and tried the garlic king prawns , onion bhajis , lamb curry and prawn biriyani. All the food was decent , the meat in the lamb curry was tender which was nice. The onion bhajis were okay but the biriyani and garlic prawns were tasty. All the staff working were incredibly friendly and service was quick. I would say the food is very affordable and has decent flavour.

Food is not bad and service was perfectly acceptable, but they aren't very good at updating their website, so don't believe anything you read on it about prices. The banquet night is not £11.95 (as the website says), but £14.95 and "half price drinks excluding wine", doesn't apply any more! Given the price increases everywhere, this is still fairly good value, but don't be surprised when the bill is more than you are expecting!

Gutted to be leaving this review as I have had good take aways from here previously, but this evening after waiting an hour to collect our food, we get home to find the chicken is completely raw, like pieces weren't even cooked even a little bit and being 30 weeks pregnant I wouldn't even risk eating the rest of the food. I called up and they ask me to bring the food back, as the food was all dished out and packaging thrown away I just took the raw pieces of chicken back to show. What annoyed me the most is I had absolutely no apology, no one looked as though they even cared or ashamed to serve food that could make someone seriously sick. Had I received an "we are so very sorry, we will inform the chef and make sure this doesn't happen again" I probably wouldn't have left this review. I was given the option for them to re do our order, Um no thanks, or receive credit towards our next order, definitely won't be back thanks! They did give me a full refund, and then not even a goodbye when I left.

As one of the biggest reviewers of Indian restraunts in Britain, it is important that I give an honest account and opinion. My aim is not to destroy reputation but to improve curry for everybody. I walked into a very clean establishment, the waiters had a great sense of humour but it was like a giant lads clubs between waiters and delivery drivers chatting and joking, it almost felt like they forgot about their customers! The place was empty apart from two other people, NAAN down the road was significantly more busy. The pickle tray and poppadoms were OK, but the onion and tomatoes were barely cut and very large making it hard to pick out with a tea spoon...that is just pure laziness on the kitchens part! My friends chicken Bhuna turned up luke warm and he described it as nothing special. My South Indian garlic chilli lamb looked the part, however the lamb was more rubbery than my wallet and like an elastic band with so many stringy bits in the lamb. To my horror I found a stringy peice of plastic in my tomato! Unreal! The bombay potatoes were overcooked and mushy. However the keema rice was lovely and the best part of the meal...why on earth is it not on the menu? Its a very common rice dish that the people want! The website menu needs updating as it's years old and misleading on price, as is the menu right outside! I feel that Ali's have got themselves into a cycle of laziness and to survive in the curry world, they just can't afford to continue with this attitude. The pricing was the only benefit, quite a cheap curry but I would have preferred to pay more for higher quality. Won't be hurrying back, highly recommend Bombay Palace at the other end of town. There are not many Indian restaurants I will go to (following a bad experience) always happy to visit Ali’s as it’s constantly good. Situated in a not particularly appealing part of Bournemouth it is always full which must be testament to their food. The restaurant is your typical Indian style of restaurant (a bit like a converted large front room) As is usual, restaurant was fairly empty when we arrived for a midweek family dinner. It very soon filled up. Food was excellent, large portions & a friendly service from the waiting staff.

What an incredible surprise! Even by comparison to some of the finest Indian cuisines in London, Southall, Bradford, and Wembley - as in, the restaurants that Indian and Pakistani’s go to when they go out - Ali’s Brasserie prepares meals to the highest standards, both in taste and presentation. There are restaurants that have won awards, and their meals are very good, which leaves me wondering how on Earth this gem isn’t being awarded and commended at every opportunity?! The delicate and subtle infusions of flavour in every dish, brings with it an authenticity that leaves the palate satisfied, and yet, wanting more, which is not an issue, as the portions are very generous as well. Add a wonderful, and personal service, and it really exceeds all expectations. All in all, I am incredibly happy that we don’t have to search for the best Indian restaurant any more, as we have found it, and this was a delivery; I can only imagine the fine dining we will experience when we eat in. Thank you to the Chef’s, the front of House, and all the staff who have made this an experience by which all others will be compared.

We have eaten in this restaurant regularly during the last 2 years. I am the first to complain if something is wrong. Due to the Virus and having to self isolate we thought we'd try their takeaway as a treat. And we were not disappointed. In fact I would say the food was better than ever and they even cooked a Chickpea curry to order which is not on the menu. I am sure the owners could have chosen to close down during these difficuklt times so for me it is important to support our local businesses.

10 of us took over about a third of this restaurant, arriving at different times over the 15 minutes before the table was actually booked. No problem there, table was all ready for us. We had the Monday Banquet Night special deal at £11.95 per head. This only gave us access to a part of the menu, but there was still plenty of choice at a good price. Not all drinks were half price as advertised, but Cobra, Kingfisher and a few others were more than adequate for our party. Food was lovely, staff were courteous and friendly and the whole evening cost us £17 per head after drinks and well deserved tip. We''ll be back.

Advertise 11.50 for 4 course meal, good value at first thought. Starters arrived promptly. They were both of good flavour. Finished first pint. Ordered second that never arrived. Main arrived chicken madras that was made using un fresh tasting chicken served in a bowl of greasy slop, with the tiniest portion of rice. Also orders lamb madras that was pretty much the same. Still no second pint that was ordered. Couldn’t manage to eat main as too greasy. Table although clean was cramped next to other tables. Didn’t want to stay any longer and didn’t order desert. Been coming to this Curry House for a decade now & despite there being 5 outlets in my home town I always venture here for the fantastic food. To be fair my last two visits had been below par by their high standards, but on tonight's evidence they are back to their best. I had the Chicken Puri starter & a Chicken Buna main. The sides (naan & sag) were lovely too & their chicken in both dishes was to die for, so tender. They may have dispensed with the half priced drinks but at £2.30 a pint one cant complain. The ice cream (palette cleanser) & coffee to finish rounded it off nicely. The only minor issue was them running out of After Eight mints with the bill, which l forgive. At £14.25 a head (with a pint) we were suitably stuffed, & on this evidence will be spreading the word and returning.

Yesterday we ordered a meal from Ali's because we had heard it a top five (Dorset) restaurant/takeaway. Big mistake. Having waited for the stated hour and twenty minutes, the delivery arrived minus the ordered stuffed paratha. Additionally, the delivery guy had no idea of how much it should cost. We settled on £20.00 plus our usual £1 tip. This before discovering the lack of paratha. Unusually i called the restaurant to let them know if their errors. I was told the online menu was out of date and new prices were on the (not) left menu. It seems that prices had magically risen by 19% between the demise of the online menu and their latest pricing. No mention of this was made at the time of ordering, which I thought odd. The delivery guy did not have any details of our order and apart from plucking £23.00 apparently out of the air had no idea. Oh, the food was just acceptable if a little radioactive in colour. Definitely not recommended. A final thought, according the latest FSA rating, they hold a 3, not great.

We have never had a problem before at Ali's and enjoyed meals there in the past and regular Friday night takeaways! Last night I decided to treat my daughter to a meal there as we fancied a night out. I phoned and booked the table for 7.30pm. When we arrived there was one long table booked seating about 12 young men. We were sat opposite them and ordered our drinks. By the time we had looked at the menu, the loud shouting and offensive swearing from the men opposite was over bearing and we could not hear each other speak. When asked what we wanted to order, we explained the situation which the waiter agreed with and offered some discount on our unfinished drinks. I cannot understand why I wasn't told there was a very rowdy party in when I booked or why the men were'nt asked politely to keep the language down. I understand they need larger tables booked but this will put regular smaller guests off. We left and found another restuarant which was 4 times bigger than Ali's and nearly full. We had a fantastic evening and could hear each other speak as everyone around us was talking at a normal tone without abusive language. Sorry Ali's this was a big let down!

My wife and myself use this restaurant a lot. Never have I had reason to complain. I also use it as a take away: on time and hot. For the price the quality is superb. Family run business very friendly and polite .very good for birthdays and events.

This is a busy restaurant with people walking though the middle of it to pick up takeaways, so it seems very popular and there were quite a few people sat at tables eating. The service was slow and I got bored sat waiting. When the food came out I wasnt really blown away as it was just about average. When the main course arrived this was better. The chicken Madras had some nice flavours to it. The chicken Tikka lacked flavour.Best part of the meal was the lime pickle and fresh onion we had with our papadoms. To sum it all up 30 quid for 2 starters and two mains isnt bad.

Went here last night for the first time, it seemed full of regulars, so must be good and not an empty seat to be seen. The food was amazing! Enjoyed every bite to the point I wasn't even hungry but I was so hungry I had to carry on stuffing my face because it was too good not too! My only criticism would be service was slow-ish, but in all honesty I'm used to London service which is here's your food, now get out! So generally I think the service was correct for the speed you are supposed to have at a meal. The people that took us to ali's said it's the best Indian in Bournemouth and it may even be one of the best Indians I have ever had!

Went here on Saturday night in a party of four people. We went on recommendation as we live in Poole so this is not our nearest Indian restaurant by far. I / We were not dissapointed at all. I can honestly say that this is THE BEST Indian food I have ever had. Every dish ordered was perfect, portion sizes are very good too. It is a very clean restaurant where nothing is too much effort. The staff are also very welcoming and the food is very reasonably priced. I cannot recommend this enough, we will definately be going back soon.

Really nice food, good portion size but service a little slow. Decor bit out dated. Overall not bad. Went with friends for the 2nd time and they are regulars so treated well and with warm friendly greetings. Not sure this would be the same without our friends.

First time visit with friends, service good but food had artificial unnecessary colouring and was sweet, not authentic at all. Meat was tough and not cooked properly and the seek kebabs were sweet, had to ask for chillies to make them savoury. I know Indian food as I'm Pakistani myself and this was probably the worst place I've eaten in which is a shame given the helpful staff. Won't be going there again in a hurry.

Several people had recommended this family run restaurant, situated in a quiet suburb or Bournemouth soi we decided to try it out. We went on a Monday night, when they offer a 4 course banquet for just £11.95. The place was full, and I can see why. Many customers were greeted by name by the friendly and efficient staff;service was prompt and efficient, and the food was very good. Plenty of it, well presented, and good well balanced flavours. Drinks are extremely reasonable too, at £3.20 for a pint of lager and £9.95 for a bottle of house wine. We'll certainly return soon - recommended!

We visit Ali every other month with my sister and her fiancé, and will not go to other Indian restaurants now.The food is so tasty and fresh. It is not greasy like other Indian restaurants which we have visited before. The choice on the menu is extensive, but everything which we have is delicious and tastes authentic. We have been going since last May and the waiters are so friendly and welcoming, they know exactly what we want to drink and advise us on the best choices to eat. Try the Bangla Beer, it's a Bangladeshi beer and it is so tasty and I have never seen it before We thoroughly recommend going to Ali's to all our friends and family.

I have been here on numerous occasions and think this place is fantastic. The staff are always very friendly when we go in, they laugh and joke with us. The food taste's great!!! Monday night is banquet night which is cheaper than any other time and definately worth while! They even have beer they give you in 4 and 6 pinters they can put on your table so you can help yourself! Highly recommended!!!

Visited here on a Monday evening for a family celebration. When we arrived it was empty, very quickly filled completely. Obviously the Monday night banquet deal is pulling in the customers. Food was ok. Nothing outstanding, just typical Indian food. Plenty of choice on the banquet menu & the portions were huge. Our waiter however was one of the rudest waiters I have come across. His attitude really was "couldn't care less" & very, very casual. Clearly doesn't read trip adviser reviews of his restaurant.

Even though told by a friend the food was not up to much, was excited to go and try. The whole dining experience was ruined by the Head Waiter who definitely needs to step down from his impression that he is a well mannered and 'good' at his job. The service received by him was unbelievably rude giving a very flippant and impatient service where we were ignored and felt to be an inconvenience as a customer. I have never received a service like it! Shame as was we looking for a venue for a large birthday party in December. In one way your Head Waiter did us a favour. Send him on a customer services course where he will learn how to treat ALL of your customers new and regular the SAME. A waiter does not get to choose to have a personal customer criteria, as it was sickening to watch the prejudice towards how he treated other customers to us. Unsurprisingly we will not be returning and wished we had listened to our friend not to bother with this restaurant,as it turned out to be a very unpleasant experience.

I was really looking forward to eating at this establishment, as their reputation seemed good on here. Unfortunately, that reputation appears considerably overblown. On arrival, I ordered a still mineral water, but evidently they don’t keep any. Then I asked for Lassi: again greeted with a puzzled no. Finally I managed to get orange and lemonade. Not ideal, but at least it was liquid.Having looked through the menu I placed my order and waited. In the meantime I had ordered some pappadums, that were brought out. They were fresh and suitably crumbly, with a duet of chutneys – lime and mango and a pot of onions. This was followed by the starter, Onion Bhaji. For some reason these were patty-shaped rather than the conventional round balls. This does create problems in the cooking process. When the Bhajis are balled they cook evenly and leave a slightly moist centre combined with a crunchy shell. Unfortunately, as suspected, these bhajis, being flat, were over-cooked and hard. More like hockey pucks, in fact. Add into that the ultimate sin; they were tasteless.I was hoping for better with the main course. This was chicken tikka pieces in a curry sauce with onions, peppers and tomato. What appears to have been the plan was to create a chicken tikka kebab, then put this into a dish with curry base gravy in it.There are a number of problems with this method. primarily, you are very dependent upon the quality of the base gravy, the sauce that all curries are derived from. Base gravy is a well-guarded secret, as it is the basis for a restaurant’s food. Usually, you create the gravy then add the other ingredients: spices, tomatoes, cream, meat, etc to make a Masala or Bhuna or Rogan Josh sauce, etc. In fact any variant the customer wants. If the base gravy is poor then so is the curry. Unfortunately, the Ali’s Brasserie base gravy is bland and has not apparent merits. As a result the dish is boring and a disappointment. Adding more spices, usually makes things worse, as you then get a hot, bland curry. With this dish, the tikka was dropped in the sauce not cooked with it, as a result there was no way to improve the flavour of the gravy. Something it desperately needed. All I all, one of the poorest curries I’ve eaten in a long time. Maybe there was a temporary chef on that night, but, in my opinion, in that case the management must accept the blame for not checking his talents in advance. One dot was added as the service was quite good.
